Dead 'untouchable' spot on touch screen - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
İ've got a dead spot on my screen. The weird thing is it works when İ touch it with my finger, but not with the stylus (İ've attached a printscreen so you can have an idea, İ've scratched around the dead spot with the stylus on blocknote so you can see it.)
İ think it's a hardware issue, or could it be software related or something?
What can be the solution, how can İ fix it do you think?
Thanks already!

Can you please re-upload ? the image can not be shown

Whaaaaat !!
hey just flash clean custom rom.
Or stock (by pc odin)

LOL. I've found what the problem was. Hahaha, how stupid of me.
I had bought a wallet for my Note a few days ago, it's one like this:
As you can see it has a magnetic clip to keep it closed, the mine has the magnet on the backside of the wallet and not 'in' the clip itself, so the magnet stays there even if you open the wallet. And the stylus doesn't work because of the magnetic field.
I think it's very clumsy to place the magnet right there, now I can't use the wallet, or the stylus.
And maybe it will harm my Note permanently if I keep using it, what do you think?

Just broke off a keyboard button!!!

OK so the 'i' has pinged off :'(
Will it be OK to just superglue it back?
I can see there's some kinda thin rubber 'membrane' underneath..... will superglue do the trick, or will that totally ruin it?
Thanks for any tips!
do not even try!!!
buy a replacement keyboard. just a view bucks and some guts needed. all info found on XDA devs.
Do not superglue!! if you do the button will stick. Get a glue gun and use like a needle to evenly spread it then glue.
Wow. I'd say you'd be best getting a new keyboard and replacing it.

I agree, do not superglue! you may end up trashin your phone if you are not careful. Get a new keyboard.
Dude, screw glueing it. I say go get a soldering iron, solder, and flux, and just use those to attach the key back on. It's more accurate and lasts longer. Be sure to apply the flux first!
Edit: Please don't solder the key back on!
hands on repair is always fun for first timers,i had the same thing happen with my Hermes/8525 only that almost all the buttons started prying off piece by piece, luckily i just bought a new keyboard and sold it before i got my Tilt

not the hole phone, just more than a half
where to buy it....try some htc local dealer or, if none, online version!
thanks, but i know where to buy it, i'm looking for a way to take out the keyboard. i'm assuming, if what your saying is correct, i have to take the whole phone apart??
i saw that, what i'm asking, is it possible to just change the rubbery keyboard and not have to do open heart surgery??!!

!!!DO NOT USE!!! a magnetic buckle case

Do not use a magnetic buckle case for Note II, especially the kind with the magnet embedded inside the back of the case, like this one:

}
It will make the sPen unable to draw on the area near the magnet (when the phone is attached to the case), like this:
The problem is gone once I detached the phone from the case. Who knows if it would harms the phone in the long run if I don't.
My solution is giving it a surgery, remove the magnet and replace with velcro and I'm happy again :
ok thank you !
chip ass cases
Am on a case hunt. Thanks for the info
Thank you for your review as i was using one magnetic case, which i stopped using now.
Thanks!
The magnet won't hurt the phone, but the s-pen is being powered by magnetic resonance (just like any wacom pen). So, a strong magnet behind the screen might conflict with that.
My solution is: don't use the pen

[Q] remove scratches with screen protector?

Hi,
I just bought my galaxy gear, but unfortunatly my cat was playing with it and it has tons of scratches now.
So I was wondering if I apply a screen protector do you think it will hide scratches or I will end up with bubbles underneath?
Also long time ago I used a gel product as scratch remover(although my phone was not touch) and It worked really great. Scratch was so deep that I could feel it with my nail but removed it totally. Do you think I can use those scratch removers?(like displex : http://www.amazon.com/Displex-Displ...392320837&sr=8-2&keywords=scratch+remover+lcd)
Thanks
Dude, your cat. Seriously...

I wouldn't use any abrasives on a modern screen. Nowadays, these all have antireflective, antistatic, and antismudge films that wouldn't benefit from polishing. Unfortunately you can destroy a screen doing this. Ask me how I know.

Ive started to use the s pen more and ive noticed the right side of the screen has a section which wo t detect my stylus pen. Its like anti pen, the pointer goes around that spot. Anyone else have this? Im running dark stalker + dpi adjusted.

Should i flash to stock and go to t mobile?
Go back to stock and test the s pen again. Make a backup of your ROM.
If it's the same in Stock, then you need to get the phone replaced.
I had the same issue when i got the phone. I had to have it returned for a brand new one due to this. Sometimes the screens pressure sense fails. On my replacement, there were points where i would pull out pen and try to screen shot and the screen would flash as if capturing a screenshot and then no options provided. I thought i was going to have to return another one but then the new update fixed the issue. I dont know why lol. But my second device seems to be working right now. Call tmo and tell them whats going on. If its within the 14 days, request a brand new one.
