Recommendation for a custom ROM for i717r? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

** EDIT ** just realized there is a whole other section called AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note that I should be reading.
MODERATOR PLEASE DELETE
Hi everyone!
Been reading through the Galaxy Note forums most of the weekend and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I haven't had a chance to update my signature yet but as you can see I just replaced my Sensation and Flyer with one device... the Note! I was quite familiar with flashing mods, firmwares and roms on those devices but I am a little at sea with my new device.
I am wondering if anybody has some recommendations for a good stock like rom that works with my Galaxy Note i717r. I enjoy having as close to stock as possible to start but have better battery and performance. It seems most development is on the N7000.
Any advice to point me in the right direction is appreciated!
I found the threads for how to root my device but I haven't rooted it until I find a good rom to flash afterwards.
Sorry for being such a noob on these threads.. but I learn quickly!
Thanks
Kate

WHAT IS THIS
AND THE LINK IS DEAD!!!!
That ROM is for Samsung Galaxy SII. If you are trying for devs to become aware, I am sure they already know about it.
I am closing this thread cause of the risk of confusion among members.
Have a nice New Year.

Rocket ROM Installation for Starters

Hi,
Got a galaxy note with baseband version N7000XXKK5 and kernel version of 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKK5-CL726566. I'm totally new with flashing ROM such as this on android and I'm just wondering if somebody could provide with the instructions and tools to get me started specifically for Rocket ROM?
I am a returning xda user from the good old times of WinMo on htc touch and htc diamond
Thanks!
first of all you need to get Root your device. If you are non rooted then go to first link of my signature. And remember
You need to post it in Q & A section or to Roket ROM Thread itself.
This is development section.
Yups. 1st u need to root your device. The easy method is CF root by Chainfire
Hi,
Rocket Rom installation is not different from any other Custom Rom one.
First thing you have to do is, sorry for this....., STUDING.
Note is a really expensive phone so, before modding it, take some time to understand what you are doing (I followed Note's forum for 1 month before rooting mine), becaouse with modding you can:
• lose your warranty
• brick(=destroy) your NOTE!! (this can 99% happen if you don't know what are you doing...).
Ok now let's start with real advice:
1) Start from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325369&highlight=efs (ORIGINAL EFS folder is ESSENTIAL for Samsung warranty)
2) Root your Note http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 instruction on the second POST
3) Go to Rocket Rom page and follow instruction http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380284 (Dev of the Rocket Rom eybee1970 stopped updating this fantastic Rom so , by now, don’t expect further update)
My last advice is READ READ READ and SEARCH in XDA forum, 99% of question you can imagine has just been asked.
XDA is a really great place to understand, but you have to put some effort into 
BTW…welcome to the great community of NOTE’s Owner, probably the best Android Device.
Thank you guys for your replies and suggestions. Really appreciate it. These definitely give me a good starting point
Cheers

[Q] Where can I follow when ICS will be available for Note N7000

Hello guys.
Sorry for opening new thread, and I hope that there doesn't already exist something like that.
I have one question, where can I follow when will Android 4.0 ICS come out for Samsung Galaxy Note N7000?
Thank you very much for help!
Best regards.

If you are thinking about an official rom don't worry it will be all over internet.
But if you want now you can have a look on the Development section.
Yesterday if I'm not wrong they change the date for release official release for the Q2 2012.

There's a sticky thread as well in the General forum for ICS-related things. I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490986
Sorry I forgot to say.
Yes, I'm looking for official release.
Also follow Sammobile here:

Thanks guys for answers!
look in the delevopement section every day, when you see 10 posts with "REAL ICS NOW" you know its been released

Haha, good idea!
Another thing you can do is follow the Swedish android community Swedroid. They will for sure write when ICS comes for the Note.

Thread moved to Q&A where it should have been posted originally. Please post in the correct sections; only things that are "created" belong in development. Next thread like this in development will receive more than a warning. Thanks.

First off, this is the development thread, opinion threads and such should go into the General section.
Secondly, creating Best threads is not advised on xda since it's unfair to the devs working on their respective ROMs and everyone has a different view for "best".
Lastly, most ROMs are similar since we are limited to Stock ROMs for now. Dynamic Kat is what I'm using mostly because it comes with an optional GPE theme which gives you a break from looking at Stock firmware and has all the goodies you will find in other ROMs.

New here on note 4 910T

HI users im New with this Phone i changue my iPhone 6 forma this one ando well
Can someone recomendme things?
Like root, custom ROMS (what rom is the best right now) how to erase my blootware etc etc
Best configurations
Thx for your answers
Welcome to the dark side...jk
Yeah I would start by looking up the thread on CF Auto Root and flashing custom recovery.
Then head over to the developer section, there are a few great ROMs out, but I will let you read up on them to decide which is best for you.
Basic understanding though is that you have 2 types of ROMs.
1.) Stock ROMS are based on the software skin (Touchwiz) that comes on the phone. Normally with added features, themes, and performance tweaks.
2.) AOSP ROMS these are based on stock vinilla Android (5.0.2 Lollipop right now). These will give you a more "Nexus like" experience, but also remove ALL of the built in Samsung features and software.
If you get stuck search for the "Noob Friendly" thread and there are people who are willing to help you out.

Well since you thread is mostly a question and request for assistance it belongs in the Q&A section not the General section.
I am sure you will get lots of help and direction in the correct area as we have taken the liberty to move this for you.
Also when it comes to best Rom that is a highly suggestive subject, as what is best for someone else may not be best for you. Our recommendation is that you do some research read the threads in the Development section and figure which Rom has features that you are interested in and what the users are saying about it.
Welcome to the forums, read a lot and have fun with your device.

Have a great day!
