Help me to choose a Memory card - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hiya guys,
I have been looking forward to buy a memory card of 32 GB. I have found out that there are various memory cards available of different classes. The least one is Class 4 which is the cheapest and Class 10 is the most expensive. I am not sure about the difference between the two.
I would like to know which Class memory card should be fine for the Galaxy Note ? Class 4 will work or I should choose Class 10 memory card ?
Please help me with this...

that would be the read speed.. the higher the better..
most say class 4 is plenty fast for just about everything..some say class 10 would work better if you're trying to watch say a very large video from your sdcard..
personally i think a class 4 or 6 would be enough.

I'm Using Sandisk 32GB Class 4 Memory Card.I Think It Is Best & Enough For My Galaxy Note.

Thanks guys...
I have checked the reviews on Amazon and gone through some of the threads available on this forum. I'm sure Class 4 would work for my requirements. I will choose one..
Thanks again...

I'd recommend the SanDisk MobileMate series, think they're class 4 or 6, good value and excellent stability, as well as speed. Worth a look.

I use class 10 card because they have a better read/write time as an class 4 Card.

Currently using SanDisk 32GB class 4.
The speed is good enough for me.

Lexar 32 GB Class 10. One of the cheapest and fastest.

It's worth reading up on transfer speeds versus read/writes for small files versus larger files. If you're only reading/writing large files then class 10s are what you're looking for.
If you're needing it for installing and rilunning apps or other collections of small files then class 4s will have better performance.
I've also read up that samsung are about to release some new standards with much higher data transfer rates, I'm not sure the note will make full use of them, but they'll be quick transers:

Mine is a Sandisk 32 Gb Class 2, I'm one of the suckers who bought the first time a 32Gb MicroSD got released and payed double the current price..
But it is good enough, I can play large movies up to 3+Gb
**while you're at it, you might want to consider buying 64Gb MicroSDXC instead. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330784

For listening to music or viewing films, classes 4 or 6 are ok (even class 2 from a good manufacturer like SanDisk).
It's when copying large music libraries or films that you appreciate having a class 10 card. And if you intend to use your GN for viewing lots of films, then you'll have to carry copy operations quite often...

16GB microSDHC class 10 worth it?

Hi,
My apologies if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find a thread about the 16GB class 10 microSDHC cards. I am asking for some positive feedback as to whether or not you all think it is worth it to drop the dough on a class 10, or just save a little and go with the class 6?
I found them to be decently priced at Newegg, Buy.com, and Tigerdirect. The one at Tigerdirect is a class 6k but Newegg and Buy.com are class 10.
I know that a class 10 over a class 6 data transfer speeds will be significantly better when inserted directly into a computer. But, would it be worth it to get a class 10 for my Nexus One, or are there hardware limitations that would still hinder the data transfer speeds from the N1 to a computer? If there are limitations then I will probably save a little money and go with the class 6.
Just looking for an honest answer here.
Thanks to anyone that can give me a little feedback.
Oldish post I know, but I need an answer for this too, I would greatly appreciate one. I've got class 2 and I'm sick of running out of space for apps.
Class 4 is good
But
Class 6 makes apps run smoother
How does class 10 fare to both? I had a feeling it was not by much.
Thanks.
I'll be using this for my overly obese g1.
Now you can get the 32gb exclusively from sandisk and it works well. I'm finally able to fit all my music on it with room to spare. The sandisk site doesn't give a class number though.

Class 2.. Google for SDSDQ-032G-A11M
the read speeds are all basically the same apparently..
i'm using the stock nexus sd card (class 2 or 4 can't remember) and 720p recording works fine, why would you need anything faster unless you are transferring a lot of large files frequently and don't want to have to wait.
i have the sandisk 16gb class2 and its running smooth. takes a moment to transfer, but not too long. A2SDext works like a charm. no lag.
I recently bought Kingston 16GB class 2 and Im very happy with it.
I chose it over the the tests, the write speed is constantly over 6 MB/s so I got "class 6" for the price of class 2

[Q] What class sdcard to buy?

Hi guys,
I'm getting a new sdcard for my phone, but I'm not exactly sure what class should I get. Is class 4 enough or should I get at least class 6?
I'm worried about full HD videos recording.
Any tips appreciated
Im going to get 16gb class 6

Equipped with Team MicroSDHC 16GB Class 6.
I've got a 16GB class 4 and am happy with it.
In my opinion, the prices of cards class 6+ are too high for the extra transfer speed they offer.
tnx for the tips
16gig class 6 = 20$ off ebay.
And yes its a real class 6 as I have tested its speed

I'm using Lexar 16gb class 6, worth the price, the performance is near a class 10 microsd.

In my sensation, on a class 4 8GB card, i got 13 MBps full Hd recording and on same card but LG 2X, i get 18~19 Mbps fullHd video
I don't think class matters that much....
By the way i use internal SD storage for camera and later transfer to extrnal SD

I've read that class 10 is actually slower at reading small files than class 4
You can see a lot of data (real world data) here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjPE3ZAD2eVudE9vZmQ3aHlfTkFvU2J4ZUplRDJQTEE#gid=0
taken from this thread
So if you're going boot from SD for example I would get a class 4
If you are planning on transferring a lot of movies/music/photo's or recording video's in high resolution onto the SD, I would recommend a class 10
But best of all: do some research and pick a card that excels in both, e.g.
SanDisk Mobile Ultra 32GB Micro SDHC Flash Card Model SDSDQY-032G-A11A
Samsung Class 10 MB-MSBGA/EU

I have one Samsung 32gb class 10 (MB-MSBGA) and i'm quite satisfied with it.
It costed 32€ (1€/Gb is really a nice price ) and it's fast
Antutu Bench 2.7 gives me writes of 17-18MB/s and reads of around 20-22 MB/s (these scores with only 4gb free in the sd card (full of music and hd vids))
I use Kingston 8G class 4.
In regular use it has enough speed.
I have a ridata 32GB class10.
Really happy with it too.
My rule is to get class 6 and up. But that's me because I tend to play around with my phone and may come a time where I need to boot from it. As of now, the class 10 helps with loading apps (I hope). Since I have CM7 and it's using the external card as the default sd mount.
team 16gb class 10 forever
i think class 6 is good and the performance is good too. I never heard any of my friends got problem with it
I'm using VERICO 16GB class 10, very good performance!
I had to decide between Class 6 and Class 10 for my P990, but since the Class 10 just had a small additional charge I picked this one.
Samsung Class 10 for 18-19€ (Germany)

[Q] Which SD Card to go with out of these 2?

Hi all,
I've currently been using a 16GB Sandisk Class 4 MicroSD in my Note, and that's filling up, and I'm planning to switch to a 32GB card.
BUT, there's 2 I'm stuck against choosing between.
This one is a 32GB Class 4 card by SanDisk:
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/...0&searchtype=allproducts&ob=4&urlrefer=search
But this one is a 32GB Class 10 card by Play.com:
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/21619964/0/Play-com-32GB-Micro-SD-SDHC-Memory-Card-Class-10/ListingDetails.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchSource=1&searchfilters=ae63{Play.com}+&urlrefer=search
Which should I go for?
If you want more speed: Class 10
If you want more money: Class 4

32GB CLASS 10.

I'd personally go for the class 4, SanDisk are a much better brand and do faster transfer rates by default, so another brand class 4 would likely be slower than a SanDisk card.
The only time you'll notice the benefits of class 10 is for pc transfers of large files, most normal and small files will still transfer at reduced rates. In general use you will get zero benefit of it being class 10.

To give a little more info, you'll pay a lot more for class 10.
Benefits of class 10 are improved wrote speeds over large files, say hi movies etc.
For smaller files that performance is compromised by lesser smaller file transfers such as general info files, docs, apk's etc.
Final story, go for class 4 or 6, for mobile use, you'll have faster access and read times on general files, and slower transfer rates on large movies, and so it'll take a while to copy a movie, but your daily usage will improve about 20 percent.

A 32Gb class 4 straight away, why to compromise 16 Gb for data speeds. ?
I will get class 10. But thats my choice so anybody pls dont get angry with me

it depend what you need .. if capacity that you looking and 16GB is not enough then grab the 32GB even with class 4 coz far that i used that class 4 (original one and i don't want to mention the brand here) i don't feel any drop perfomance in daily use ( I can say this coz i compare with my 16GB class 10 that i had)..but yes is lil longer when try to transfer data from or to PC as our friend mention above
..and if you really want the high capacity with high speed while transfer data or watch the big size movie example .. try to looking the Ultra micro SDHC 32GB class 10 on store or online market .. and be ready to grab a deep pocket i guess

Best sd card....

I read somewhere that class 6 card is better than class 10 for smartphones? Is it true? I was planning to buy class 10 transend or sandisk 32 gb sd card. Should I ? Anybody...

The general consensus is that Class 10 is great for what it's intended for: transferring or saving LARGE media files (recording videos or taking high-resolution digital photos).
The lower classes seem to perform better with smaller file transfers.
I have a Class 4 Sandisk 8MB card in my P970, and I'm very happy with the performance. I doubt I'd see a performance increase moving to Class 10.

i think you mean 8GB?
i have a Class 10 Samsung micro SD-Card with a space of 32GB
The difference between Class 4 and 10 is that C4 has 4MB/s write speed and class 10 10 MB/s write speed.
I would always choose a class 10. they are not so expensive and are more than twice as fast as Class 4

Here's an interesting link comparing different classes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
I have read that manufacturers have recently improved random read/write speeds on class 10 cards. Dunno. Biggest thing I see is that brand almost matters as much as class. I'd stick with Sandisk.
Enjoy, and good luck.
