[Q] Apps restore - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any program to make backup of apps, but only names (not APKs, not data etc.)?
I want to mass download all my apps, that I had before, but using Google Play.

Hi,
Ultimate Backup provides an option to share your list of installed apps. It can even include the Play Store link and version.

Ultimate Backup is the best .. but titanium backup is not bad

You can try MyBackup but it may be a problem to backup only names. I tried backup only apk. It works but when i tried to load backup on new soft it fall in bootloop. But i think on rooted phone it will work well

but when you restore programs after flashing a new rom it´s possible that you "build" bugs...for example flashing ics and then restore app´s which were installed under gb isn´t so good

If I got it right, then the question was how to export a list of installed apps to be able to install them again from Market. Manually that would be, without a backup of APK or app data.

with appbrain and also with the last relase of Market you can see the storyline of your app installed in your device

Guys, first of all - thanks for replying.
My idea is to "backup" apps without backing up any APKs or data (DO CLEAN INSTALL DOWNLOADING LATEST VERSIONS OF APPS) to prevent any bugs on new ROM.
Elentirmo74, yes, something like that.
So, for now the only solution is to use Appbrain storyline or Google Play Store history.

Play store has a list of all apps you have ever installed across all devices. That sounds like all you need as you can then redownload and install the ones you want.

Restore Apps after a Wipe

Hi,
This is probably a n00b question but I am going to ask anyway.
I want to do the following:
First time I install new Custom Rom I register with a google account and download apps from market. So after downloading some 60 apps I want to unregister my google account and remove my default account. The only way I can remove my default account is by doing a wipe.
So Is there a way I can extract the APKs of all the 60 apps I have installed and then Do a wipe and then install the apks again to regain my 60 apps but no google default account ?
Thanks
Backup / Restore n00b
if youre rooted you can try titanium back up or else I would recommend mybackup pro (theres a trial version) it will back up apks and data (sms/contacts/email etc)
app Manager for the apk. can also select and simultanious Installations (there are also many others, see above).
sms backup & restore. awesome app for sms Backup to SD card or Your Mailacount without using gmail sync. everything is free. there is also a call log app and apn backup app from the same developer!
cheers

I like AndroidCommander
AppBrain will do this too.
You can pull the '.apk's using the "adb pull" command and then push them back afterwards.
Or if you're on a custom ROM you can use apps2sd to store the apps on your sdcard then they will be reimported after you install your new ROM after wipe. This may depend on which ROM your using though, not sure.

[Q] Apps - backup/restore

I have been using "Titanium backup for root" to backup and restore my apps, between the million ROM installs . However, I find it a bit annoying that you have to hit "Install" and "Done" for each app. And, if you have a billion apps installed , it's just pain.
I could always pull the apps from "/system/apps" & "/data/apps" and push them once I flash a new ROM. But would that restore the app data?
Does anybody have any better ideas?
Buy TB from market, it has more features including what you're asking for.

I haven't tried it yet, but this is another app that's basically like the paid version of Titanium Backup, but free

Thanks guys... trying MyBackup... lets see how it goes.

Market and Installed Apps

So I tried the new MIUI rom for Milestone and I really liked it, I switched from CM7, and when I did a data restore from CM7 to MIUI, it made my phone freeze and not run properly, giving me system errors. So I wiped and did a davlik wipe as well. Did a nandroid restore to my CM7 rom and used Astro file manager to backup all my apps. Than I wiped again and flashed MIUI, than used astro to install all the apps again, but they do not show up as installed in my market. Just the purchased ones show up as not installed, just pruchased. Is there a way that I can fix it, so the market will detect me installed apps so I can update them. I was hoping to have to avoid reinstalled 50 or more apps.
Thanks, Adam.
Hope all that made sense lol

Use TITANIUM BACKUP and use the option to force app to show on market.
the Market Doctor? or is there another option? Will restoring my apps make them appear in the market?
Thanks.

search app call "google xxx architecture" in manage application, clear cache, reboot, relogin gmail, open market

[Q] Create a download list for Market?

Good day everyone, I have a small question which might sound odd to some of you, please note that I am aware of nandroid and titanium backup etc... as i have purchased titanium backup and find it extremely useful i know exactly what it does.
My question is pretty simple, is there an app that one can download and use, which makes a list of all apps installed and can backup that list either online or on the phone or in whatever way possible, and if one has to restore a phone or install a new rom etc.. can restore that list and the app would RE-DOWNLOAD all apps from market. I DON'T WANT TO RESTORE the apps from a backup, i just want an automated system to re-download and install the apps from the market directly. I know this might not make any sense to some/most of you, but the reason is quite simple, I've used titanium backup to make backups of my apps, but once restored some apps FC, and i can't be bothered to go through all apps one by one to check which are good and which need to be re-installed after every recovery I do. I know appbrain can show you what apps are installed, but i couldn't figure out a way to create a shopping list which i can use to re-install all the apps from the market after i do a rom isntall.
Thank you.
Rodi
erm..... as for apps i think there is only Titanium what can do batch restore.
re-downloading all your apps would really take a long time.
CM7 (ROM) does this, but do you really wanna swap ROMs for this reason, i doubt it.
can i just ask, when you use Titanium, are you restoring system data too ?? because this is the reason what causes FC's , i have suffered this before.
when using Titanium, its best to restore app + app data ONLY, system data is data kept from the previous ROM, therefor it causes issues (FC's) with the new ROM.
Yes, appbrain and the fast web installer does that.

For the time it takes, i don't mind, i'll set it on wifi and let it do it's thing, as for the question about app data and system data, well I don't backup system data, and when i restore i only restore apps only not even apps data, then on a 4-5 apps i restore app data.
markdj57: thx for the answer, can you give me a quick rundown on how to do it through appbrain? as i couldn't find a way to make it download the list of apps
Thank you fellas,
Rodi
AppBrain i download and frequently save the apps list .
Click on app and check install likewise on phone open AppBrain and install/Update .
Its not an automated process.
jje
Go to appbrain website and login using your google account.
Install appbrain and fast web installer from android market.
Sync with appbrain website using app.
On new firmware, do a sync. Appbrain detects new firmware so go to website and you will see 2 lists of apps. Copy all apps to new list and delete old list (optional) be careful you don't delete wrong list.
Enable fast web installer app.
Sync appbrain app. Hit the install button and all your apps will install. Sometimes takes a few times if all apps aren't available in market.
For a few days, some of my paid apps were not visible in the market but it sorted itself out eventually.
Hope this helps
Mark

Titanium backup

Hi if i backup all the apps from my nexus 4 with titanium can u use titanium on my new nexus 7 and install them?
obviously just installed apps no system apps.
Yes. So long as both are rooted.
(and the apps are, in fact, compatible - it'll restore, but might not work properly. Case in point : restored Bejeweled 2 to my SG3, runs on N7 and Thrive, doesn't on SG3).
Are you going to be restoring just the app or app + app data?
I've done this moving from HTC Desire to Nexus 7 no problems, mainly with games as they play much better on the nexus
I did a batch backup from the HTC and copied the whole /sdcard/Titanium Backup folder to the Nexus 7. Restored app + app data without too many issues.
(With titanium backup pro you can sync with the cloud so another way of transferring backups across devices if you like)
You may get issues with apps crashing, in this instance sometimes installing the app manually from the play store then restoring data only should work.
I use MultiRom so I made 3 copies of my ROM.
First one is "stock". I deleted everything I don't want and customized the settings perfectly to my preference. I only have Titanium Backup installed to make clones of this.
ROM #2 is my main use ROM, besides the internel stock. I have only installed the apps I use.
ROM #3 is a disposable clone of #1 that I use to test anything I wouldn't want on my main #2.
