[Q] How do you EDIT an EXISTING S-Memo? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I create a new memo and saved it, it seems that I cannot EDIT it anymore.
Is this by design or a bug? If its by design, then I think this severely limit the use of S-Memo, since that means ONLY ONE CHANGE is allowed with it.
In that case, any other Memo app that anyone can recommend that allows me to:
- Write text
- Draw diagram
- Add screenshot (mostly for maps)

Of course you can edit it. It would be a useless app otherwise. Just click the memo again after the initial opening.

Hey, this actually bugged me to no end as well. I only found it an issue when clicking from the widget. Simply click the memo widget, when it loads, long tap once anywhere on the memo, lift, then you'll see the draw icon/menu appear and you're good to go...
Tested on Midnote 3.2 in both tw launcher and Apex launcher. But I am a noob and hate myself, so take it with a grain of salt

Hi
During ROM update, I lost all orig pics & S-Memos which come bundled with Note,.
Is there a way to restore the orig pics etc?
If you can post a link for me to download them & instructions how to install them, it will make my SGN feeling good all over again
Pl help me
Thanks in adv

No, I already tried that... it doesn't work.

what is the widget really missing ? (your ideas needed !)

Hello,
After 'Pure calendar' and 'Weather forecast', I am ready to create a new widget.
But I don't have any idea of 'WHAT'.
What widget really miss you ?
Conditions :
- it should NOT exist on market.
- I should be able to sell it on the market (can't sell small widget, like memory, or pictures)
- it will be free during beta testing, paid after
- winning idea will have widget for free
Winning ideas :
+++ messaging widget (gmail + SMS + email)
+++ bookmark widget with sync with mobile browser & xmarks
Remaing ideas :
++ task widget
+ dock to put more app icons into one cell
+ dialer widget
+ photo galery with flicker integration
+ power control widget
+ stock market
Ideas not developed :
- email/SMS/MMS widget >>> problem, there is no gmail API ! >>> solution found !!!!!!!!
Some kind of system montior widget would be great. ie, something that would show: CPU frequency, CPU load, swap usage, battery level, disk usage on fat + ext...
I don't know about other people, but I normally check this stuff from the terminal, so it would be nice to have a widget.

I would suggest an integrated Twitter/Facebook/GTalk(Jabber)/SMS-MMS widget where you can see everything in one location (maybe tab based or mixed with a label of some sort).
If tabbed, the number of new messages could be part of the tab label or added to the notification bar.
If everything shows in same window, then touching a message could either allow the user to respond or open the appropriate app.
Could be enhanced later with LinkedIn, Plaxo, etc. based on what people want.
Hummmm ... good idea an email widget.
Does it exist only on Hero now ?

Main problem with this are API.
Most API have restrictions for commercial uses... so, to use thoses API, you have to create your software as 'free'... This is not my goal.
I believe it does as I can't see it anywhere else
well it's not really a widget i'm missing. but a program to auto end and auto-start other programs at specific times would be great
so one could auto-end k-9 at 23:00, have a good night's sleep and have it autostart at 7:00 to read all the new mails...

I cant really think of anything that isnt in the market. but i know of a few things that i think are in the market, but can be done better...
personally, i liked the WM 6.2 screen where you had a scrolling "widget" that you could use to place direct call shortcuts... id love to see a android version of that...
the ones out there are ok, but they arent as clean looking as the WM take on it... from what ive seen of your work, you are the person that i think could create something like what im thinking of...
the one on the hero is fine, but, i even think its a bit clunky...

I would really like to have a dialer widget. I hate the default behavior that the green call button brings up the call log instead of the dialer. In fact, I would be quite happy if the built-in dialer could be made into a widget. I imagine it would take up an entire home screen but I'm fine with that.

fluent scrolling is impossible with current SDK. You have to simulate scrolling with buttons ... not very fun.

[SOLVED] Is There a Way to Hide Icons without LauncherPro?

Hi guys!
I've been searching around for a simple solution to OC/neat-freak people such as myself...
What has been bothering me for the longest time is the fact that some apps that don't really do anything still add an icon to the app drawer even if it is never needed.
Ex. Document Scanner's Add-On (It is literally just a second icon leading to the same program)
There are also some apps that are needed for other people but I, myself, really do not need to see or access them.
Ex. SuperUser, BusyBox
And there are others that come right out of the box courtesy of Google but I can't uninstall because it will mess things up.
Ex. Google Talk
I eventually found a solution to this using LauncherPro and other launcher alternatives since they all have the feature of hiding whatever application icon you choose...but the thing is:
I don't really like the look of it. I want to stick to the default look of my Samsung Galaxy S (Yes, I like TouchWiz!) It looks a lot nicer, IMHO. And it feels so much smoother also. I also like to organize my app drawer the way I want which is easy to do with TouchWiz.
I know Android ideally uses the homescreens for all the apps you need or use the most and everything else gets hidden in the app drawer..but I like keeping my homescreens tidy with widgets and very few shortcuts only.
So I was wondering...if LauncherPro can implement the feature of app hiding (which really just shows a list of all your apps and let's you check whatever apps you want hidden) then isn't there a mod or a simple app out there or that can be made that simply does this? I don't mind paying a bit.
* After a bit of digging, I came across an old thread on this forum by Irrenhaus about his Advanced Launcher. He apparently customized the launcher that came with Cyanogen (I only skimmed his post, sorry!) where he implemented a lot of great features like folders in the app drawer, app icon hiding and the like. I am very much interested in these features...but again I really don't want to change the look of my Samsung Galaxy S.
* I saw a lot of people posting the TouchWiz Launcher apk for use with other phones... is it possible then to just modify the twlauncher.apk file and implement these other features just like Irrenhaus did? If so, can someone go about doing this for me? I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount. I really do not know how to do this on my own...
* I saw some random dead-end posts in other forums that state that by deleting a line in an app's code or something you can allow the app to install without placing a shortcut. I'm not sure if it works though since there were no replies after that...
Here is the line of code in the manifest file to remove:
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
Is this possible with downloaded apps? Seems illegal to tamper with other people's codes... Or is that just a solution for people who make their own apps... I am only familiar with Java so I don't know how to go about these code modifications in Android.
I'm sorry for the lengthy-looking post! I hope I can get some answers or suggestions soon enough.
Thank you all in advance!
SOLVED!!!
Nvm! Found an app for this!
The app is called "Smart Bar" the dev says it currently doesn't work well for Froyo but I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S running JPM ("official" froyo) right now and the hide app feature works just fine.
Best of all, it's completely free! It also has a ton of interesting/useful features. I have yet to play around with the other features so I can't confirm they all work in JPM.
At first I was afraid that the app would literally just "disable" but not delete the app via the renaming the apk method since when one clicks to hide an app it says "Disabling ____" ...so I thought oh great it hides the app icon and stops it from working too... But I tried it out with the Document Scanner Add-On and it still works fine from the main app.
Hope this information helps people out! Should be very useful for people who want to hide those add-ons and packs that for some reason have their own icons upon installing but just need the main app.
Nice

Android Agenda Widget & native scrolling

Hello Xoomers,
I have a nearly working on a build of Android Agenda Widget which will support Honeycombs native scrolling and I need a tester or two who don't mind things looking weird/crashing and can send me log files.
Grab it from my site: http://www.androidagendawidget.com/development
Known issues:
It seems the Honeycomb launcher does some fairly furious caching of views. Until I figure out how to get around this you may have to tap the refresh button to fix the look of th widget (especially after changing row styles).
EDIT: This is now on the market

pm'd you... looking forward to trying it out
Thanks guys. Looks like it works I just need to clean up a bit so it isn't ugly
I have enough testers for the short term, I will report back here when I have a stable build in case anyone else is looking for a more complicated scrolling agenda!
This is fairly functional now, grab it from my site (http://www.androidagendawidget.com/development) and provide some feedback
Very nice. My only issue is I can't get it to open the calendar upon tapping on the date. Xoom.
Which date? The one at the top or the one in with the events?
Tap on top date. Doesn't open calendar. Tap on event date opens event correctly.
Oh, you need to adjust settings->buttons and toolbars->date click override
Tried that prior to posting. No dice!
Hrm, can you shoot me a log of you opening the main calendar application so I can see what the difference in calls to the applications is? roflharrison at gmail is the email address.
I downloaded the version and during setup it threw up errors about file: android asset html files nor being found with info on customize.html etc 3 errors came up for 3 of the next button presses... Perhaps Honeycomb had moved these items?

Possibly. Were the errors on the page (these are html pages) or popup force closes?
setup
They were errors inside the setup process brought on by the app navigating pages in the broader that should be included in android .. indicating a 404 error, the sweep is trying to display them as part of the setup that are not being found..

Honeycomb might be treating assets differently so my html viewer might be broken. You aren't missing much on those pages however I will take a look at this and see if I can fix it.
I believe I have fixed the scrolling and display issues with the widget, If anyone has a chance to test I am particularly interested in "date row" view style.
Also if anyone can provide more feedback on the date click problem mentioned earlier?
Grab it from my site.

I guess I broke it instead of fixing it, could you please try other other row styles and let me know if any work?

[MOD][APP]Stock Launcher App Sorter - Abandoned

UPDATE: Unfortunately I have had to abandon this project, please accept my apologies.
I would like to introduce a little project I'm going to be starting, my first attempt at an App for android, one which will bring added functionality to the stock launcher on rooted devices.
Having tried a lot of different launchers, I actually prefer the stock launcher, for all but one thing which is the way it sorts Apps in the app drawer. The stock launcher sorts apps by name like most other launchers, but it splits them into System Apps and Downloaded Apps, so it can be hard sometimes finding the app you want.
My App is going to provide a way of sorting the Apps how you want, without modifying the stock launcher, so that it can last between updates.
My main aim is to provide a simple interface to pick how you want the Apps sorted, primarily alphabetical, ignoring whether they are system apps or downloaded apps.
You could do this by moving apps around manually but it would take a long time, so the idea is to automate this process.
While I work on the base of the app, I would like feedback on what other ways you would like the apps to be sorted, so that when you open the app, you can pick from different options as to how to sort the apps.
I look forward to reading some of your input.

good luck. I'd add:
1. Most used
2. Last updated
3. Recently installed
4. Also if it is possible add search bar on the first page
All these options are available in GoLauncher. So if you refer to that you know what I am asking

Great,
But can you even add or mod the default tasker like when we long press home key at the bottom it takes us to task manager where we have to kill all unwanted application one by one, can you add a kill all button to that it wwould be amazing if you can do that.
By the way thanks a ton.

lg's contacts and phone is ugly. plain and simple.. join feature is ineffective.. stock icons are lame.. lockscreen is LAME and slow and buggy with faceunlock.. if u manually join contacts, u cant edit the name.. and the names can be random and wrong..
themes are jus 4.. and ugly.. weather is ugly.. its slow..
list is too long.. lg made an epic device.. *WAAYYY BETTER THAN ONE X* but ****ed up with the software..
I like the launcher but this is annoying, nobody wants to.continue this? I think it would probably be easier to just mod the launcher itself

Xperia Z small apps - Do you use them?

I use them all the time, they are awesome and work better than Samsung's window in window multi tasker imo.
Only issue I find with Sony small apps is that you can only have one open at one time.
Is there a fix for this? Would love to have multiple small apps running at the same time.

Sorry for taking the thread off topic a bit - but I get this in the notes app in general with swiftkey too. It's pretty irritating, I don't know why anyone thought that smilies would be more useful than a new line??
And back on topic. I find the small apps really useful for when I need to jot down something, quick calculator etc. It's really nice. I came from a galaxy note and I never used the multi window functionality on that...
I love small apps. They're the most useful little feature of Sony's firmware - i use calculator, notes and timer ( cooking ) all the time. I love how you can "minimise" them by dragging the window to either side of your phone. It's like a taste of REAL multitasking - when I'm using Barclays app and need to quickly calculate something, i don't have to switch apps, leave the one i'm working with and then go back - i'll just pop out the calculator and dismiss it when done.
As said though, it's a real shame we can use only one at a time. Maybe Sony will fix that. And we could use more of these actually.
I use mirror & calculator the most, as now bringing up task window is much easier compare with Xperia S

Yes, because most people need sin/cos/tan in a quick-pop-up calculator... honestly, i recently have the feeling that people won't be happy with anything, ever...
Anyway, just slide your calculator left...
Calculator is the only one I really use - and even that's not very often. I find it just as easy to open the list of recent apps and pick the full size calc from there, then switch back the same way.
interesting thanks, was trying to work out if i should install this with a ROM.
i guess it's less useful on smaller screen devices like Xperia-U? or still useful?
