[Q] installing arch ARM? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm not sure if this question is more suiteable here or in development (even though they don't to ask questions there) but has anyone tried installing Arch ARM (the Arch linux fork that supports ARM processors) on galaxy S? if yes how was the experience and what did he install to get a functioning phone?

Complete Linux OS on Galaxy Tab?

Friends,
Since the Galaxy Tab source code has been released, can anyone speculate on the type of features we could expect to see on the Tab once a custom ROM (perhaps CyanogenMod) is developed? Would we expect to have a solid base of Linux tools available via a custom ROM?
This is my first Android device, I'm coming from the Nokia Maemo platform where you get a mostly intact full Debian Linux system out of the box (full GNU/Linux command line utilities on top of BusyBox, X11, etc).
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It would be great to use the Galaxy Tab as a "complete Linux workstation" at the command-line (the Android GUI is great, but the command-line seems to be greatly lacking).
Thanks
Have you looked at the Ubuntu tread?

ubuntu port {wip}

hello exhibit community, i assume this is the correct forum, otherwise sorry mods. i recently "inherited" a t599n and i am taking the challenge of compiling an ubuntu touch rom for the device. i have very little android/pc experience. however, i have successfully built from source (cyanogenmod) and ported quite a few roms to other devices. i just upgraded my ubuntu version to saucy as precise was unable to install the phablet tool. i will be using meticulous's github sources and i will start building tonight/tommorrow depending on repo dl. any dev suggestions?
fail
i was unable to build the meticulus kernel with ubuntu source provided. i was able to build the system.img and boot.img. but w/o the ubuntu touch kernel specifics, the results are a bootloop. im off to new ventures for now as im unable to port anything to this device as of yet. i have some ideas revolved around slimroms soon.

nethunter on droid 4

There is something like a cross of kali linux and android. It's compiled for nexus phones and tablets, but i think it should be great on the droid phone, because of physical QWERTY. It seems that nethunter is based on android 4. We need port some drivers for droid hardware and tune up the kernel and some config files. What do you think guys?
check it out: nethunter.com
Is it possible? Is there anyone can help?
It is possible

How to get Keli Nethunter or Kali Linux working on i9305?

Hi guys has anyone got Kali Nethunter or Kali Linux properly running on galaxy S3 i9305 and if so what are the step by step instructions?
I got it installed but it keeps telling me airmon-ng needs iw but I have the latest iw update so there is some other problem people say it's to do with busyboxy so maybe I'm not installing busybox properly, if someone knows how to get Kali Nethunter or Kali Linux running on i9305 It would be mostly appreciated.
Thank you!

[Q] upgrading the kernel to the latest stable

is it possible to run Android using the latest stable linux kernel instead of sticking with the LTS version ? I mean instead of using 3.18.x, use 5.1.15, latest stable as of today according to the git releases https://www.kernel.org/
If so, is there a guide on how to do so, I mean:
* Which options are critical to enable in the interactive menuconfig
* if its needed to compile modules for this version or only the kernel image is enough ?
I've manually built many linux kernels for optimizing linux distros but never did so for an Android device, so something may be different, specially the stuff related to kernel modules
