[HELP] Screen/S-Pen Issue - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was taking some notes in the app Skitch and found out that I can't draw on the right edge of the screen. I only found this out recently since apps like S-Memo don't extend to full-screen so you can never write till the edge of the screen while in apps like Skitch and SBM you can utilize the entire screen.
Here's a pic for better explanation...

Please test this for me and post your results. It's been bugging the hell outta me! I'm thinking of going to the service centre.

Hi,
do you have any kind of cover with some magnets maybe ?
Magnetic fields affect the s-pen. I had a cover which had a magnet and it affected the s-pen
in a way I couldn't write in the edge close to the magnet....

pretty sure its a known issue

Nope. Just a plastic cover. Its frikkin annoying at times while taking notes!

since we are talking about the S-Pen here, i would like to know how to improve the accuracy of the S-Pen. i did a accuracy test and the pen was WAY OFF.

I tested some more and found out that there's a similar issue with the bottom edge of the screen, only much worse. There's a decent amount of area where the pen doesn't work.
As a request, could somebody please test this out? Try Skitch (or preferably Zen Brush or SketchBookMobile since they're completely full-screen). I've already tested on a friends Note and she doesn't have this problem. If I'm a lone case, I'll try the service centre.
EDIT: If someone does test this, try to draw along all the edges.

I was just about to make a new thread when I saw yours. I have the same issue.
I am right-handed and the phone's setting is set to right-handed, this is how it looks when I draw a line from the left side of the screen all the way to the right until the S-Pen disconnects from the screen:
You can clearly see that the line is cut-off ~0.5cm before the edge. If I hold the S-Pen in the left hand and drag a line from right-to-left, I get the same effect on the left side of the screen. Disappointing.
-EDIT: Oh, crap, I thought this was the Note 2 subforum.

Check your black model for air bubbles under the front panel

Just returned my SGS5 due to an air bubble or something under the front panel.
I've seen a lot of black SGS5 with this issue on one of the corners or around the home button. It is visible with sunlight or under a lamp. You need to pass your fingers around the front panel and then they will appear.
Check these pictures I took to see what I mean:

On the white model it can't be seen. Only on black ones.
Check to see if you have it.
Mines fine....had it since release
That happened to my friend but only after he dropped it, luckily on the carpet. Very cheap work from Samsung on a flag ship.
And it's really annoying... any way to fix it?
I had that develop - had the phone since launch day and the bubble developed 2 weeks ago. I took it into Samsung repair Centre and they replaced the screen within the day.

Disappointing to see such quality issues on their flagship.
Checked mine, looking fine so far, have it since launch.
It's mostly noticeable on the black model and in daylight at certain angles.
I've also seen it around the home button.
I've checked several black ones with this issue on stores.
None of them have the tempered glass screen protectors do they? I would hate to see everyone freaking out because their screen protector isn't lined up exactly how it should and creating the same problem.
I can speak from experience. Not that I thought my screen was messed up, but from how there is 0% tolerance with some of the tempered glass screen protectors and they need to be lined up perfectly or else around the corners they will have air bubbles exactly as everyone here shows.

Yes. Mine too, but the glass protection has been changed from 2 monhs ago. There is no scratch on it and I don't use cover
It's a really weird issue.
A guy above said he's was fine and the bubble appeared 2 weeks ago.
Is this something that can appear at a later time?
I think this is due to the waterproof protection.

[Q] Build Quality

I just got my gear live and I was wondering if anyone else has a noticeable gap on either side of their gear live? Also, it seems that the heart rate sensor on mine looks crooked. Is this how it is supposed to be? The heart rate monitor seems to work fine. Although, I have not really tested it for accuracy. Please let me know if these build issues are normal.

I have noticed a gap on the upper inside area where the plastic meets the bezel on the side opposite the charging port.
It does make me question it's IP 67 certification.

I have another question for anyone on here. Does your screen show a sort of pink line of pixels at the top when a white screen is shown? I think it may just be the way these displays are made but I wasn't sure.

I see that as well. It is hard to describe but I do see a pinkish hue that lines the upper edge of the display which is most noticeable on a white background.
I just tried the pixels and its true but unnoticeable in normal use. As for the gap that's quite big compared to mine which I've had for months.
Mine looks the same and I have seen the gap on other watches. It varies. I have gotten it a little wet on the sides from washing my hands and so far no issues here. It should not affect the IP 67 certification. I wonder if the pink hue on white screens could be fixed with a software update?
Other issues I have noticed are my watch band creaks a little if I move it around and also my heart rate sensor looks crooked as you can see in my pictures. Other than these things, it is a great watch!

Galaxy s7/s7 edge Home button protection

I have spent quite a lengthy amount of time tonight scouring the Internet trying to find something. I had a clear plastic film that I bought off eBay from China for my Note 7 (as well as tempered glass camera/heartbeat sensor protection...) but we all know what happened to that.
The seller is no longer selling them or I would purchase more as I believe the home buttons are the same dimensions between s7/n7.
My s7 is sitting in my n7 symmetry case with the factory screen cover still attached until I pick up a defender. I'm forced to leave the cheap protector on under the defender until I can find something for the home button..
Any ideas? I'm fine with film/vinyl/metal. Just want something to keep it from looking like the God awful photos I see online..
Thanks!
Just curious with clear home button, can u still use the fingerprint scanner
Sent from my SM-G935U using Tapatalk
Would all depend on material used but it worked with the one I had on my Note 7.
I actually found some on ebay from Hong Kong. Not sure why I missed them first time around.
I'll let you know in... 2-3 weeks..
I can't see how the fingerprint sensor would work with a plastic film on top of it...
I got set of stickers few days ago, fingerprint scanner was not working after applying, but I deleted previous fingerprint scans and set up new ones. Now fingerprint scanner works same like before, no issues. As you can see on picture below, sticker is really thin (damaged one on display for comparison) and it's hard noticeable on home button.

What screen protector are you using?
It's curved PET film protector. I bought it on Ebay I guess.

Does anyone use a webcam cover? [UPDATE 2018/01/25]: Found one!

Hey there! I was wondering if anyone uses webcam covers on their XZ1C. Since the front camera on this phone is incredibly wide, I was wondering if anyone out there has one that manages to not show up in the wide angle selfie shots.
I like the look of this one - Amazon link - as it lists that it has a 4.6mm hole, which I believe should clear the front camera entirely. I'll order this and report back on my findings if anyone else is curious.
Otherwise, if you use one already and it works, please reply and let me know!
Thanks!
Hello, I'm here to update this. I bought what was in the amazon link, and the cover is just barely not big enough to cover the super wide angle of the front facing camera. As best as I could get it, the image had vignetting in the extreme corners. A not-so-great test image can be found here.
This would work on just about any other camera, as the XZ1C has the widest front camera I've ever seen.
The circle on this cover is 4.6mm in diameter. We would need something more around 5-5.2mm. If anyone can find one, please share!
All that being said, these things are absolutely tiny and razor thin...they'd be great on any other phone! I recommend it for other devices.
Thank you!
Edit: I'm going to try one of these. The internal diameter is 6mm, so it should clear with no problems. The entire thing is just under 22mm long, so it should fit on the glass without hanging off the side. I'll get back with results once I receive this one.
Edit Edit: I got in this exact one up above, the 6mm internal and 22mm long ones. It works perfectly, although right now it still slides around on the screen a bit. I hope it'll adhere better with a bit more time than a few minutes. It fits perfectly around the camera and around the notification light. Most importantly, NO vignetting! I'll post pics of it below.

Good day.
Nice findings!
As i am searching for a way to protect the back camera lens, your post called my attention.
Have you tried any of those in the back camera?
As the back camera has a bump, i don't know if any of those works.
Thank you.

Rectangle on my screen after removing the screen protector?

Hello everyone! This morning, I removed the screen protector that came with my replacement display which I have been using for months now because it had too many scratches. After removing it, nothing was out of the blue until I noticed a large patch of uneven pixels in the shape of a rectangle. Can someone explain to me why this happens and the best way to solve it?
I've read some others had luck by just leaving it alone and letting it disappear on its own (usually within a week or so). My screen does not show any signs of screen burn-in and only shows image retention when watching 16:9 content for long periods of time (~usually 40 minutes at most)

This is an image of my phone with the said rectangle.
App: OLED Tools
The rectangle is mostly noticeable when viewing dark images or gray backgrounds. It is also noticeable when looking at dark greens.
Mine did the same thing after removing my glass screen protector (Dome). Took a good 3 weeks to a month to fade enough that I can just ever ever so slightly notice it. I was really bummed out because the phone is flawless, and I wanted to change to a new protector.
But yeah, it faded away. I just looked again and I can't see it anymore.
I don't understand how the screen protector has anything to do with that or why it wasn't visible before. Disconcerting...
It's really very odd. First phone that has ever done something like that.
All I can say is always use OEM parts with these devices. That includes the adhesive strips.
I've repaired Canon pro cams before and having the exact parts makes the difference.
I hope it works out for you.

It was replaced by an authorized Samsung Service Center I know the parts are legit.
It's been a few weeks now, and it's not as noticeable anymore!
