vechile home screen/car mount question - Motorola Droid 4

When using the car mount, is there any way to keep the phone from going to the vehicle home screen? With the older droid mounts the removal of the magnet from the mount was possible, but I have not been able to find where the magnet or proximity sensor that controls this is located. I would like to keep it from defaulting to the vehicle home screen as I do not like the extra map stuff that I have to go through to get to the navigation app.

There are a few ways you can do this:
Root, install Titanium Backup, and freeze the CarDock app
Install Tasker and create a profile to kill the CarDock app when docked
Install an app like Dock No-Op or Dock Nothingness

I replaced the CarDock app with the AOSP one from CyanogenMod. It has an "exit" button.

I am also seeking for this, please suggest if you get any suggestion related.
Any advice invited. Thanks in advance.

I just set up a smart action to launch Car Dashboard app when it detects the vehicle nav dock. Works great. I like the default nav home screen, but I wish it had more than one screen and was customizable like the Bionic. I need to be able to get Google Navigation and Pandora on the menu and the Car Dashboard does it for me.

Car home ultra is a nice car dock app with lots of side screens.

I would agree about Car Home Ultra. It's my personal favorite out of all the one's I've tried. You can add apps, shortcuts, individual numbers to call and many other things.

[Q] Notification Bar Toggle Buttons

I think this is the best place to post this question, sorry if it's not.
Anyways, with the ROM's for the i897(Captivate) the notification drop down has the toggle buttons for Wi-Fi | Bluetooth | Silent | Vibration
For the I9000 ROM Silent is replaced by GPS.
Anyone know of a way to change which buttons show up?
I'd like to use an i897 ROM, but remove Silent and replace it with GPS.
+1 on that for me, too, its easy enough to go into silent mode with a long press on the power key, or by simply holding the volume down button.... a quick toggle for gps would be great!
+1 as well. Volume rocker on the phone is sufficient in silencing the device, I want a fast GPS on off switch. Perhaps this should be posted in the android development section?
Or a 2g/3g apn switch.

+1
I would also like to add Vibrate to the Power Menu. I don't use Silent, always Vibrate, and I would prefer not having to unlock my phone to change that.

+1. Dont use bluetooth so the bluetooth switch is pointless for me. Would like a Rotation/Orientation switch... or even better (if it can be figured out) a switch to toggle between 2g and 3g
You could try the quick settings app. Long press the search key and you get fast access to all that **** son!

+1 on this however in the meantime...
I use power strip in conjunction with switchpro widget. Power strip is an app you can set to have your home button bring it up even from the lock screen if you have widget locker installed. This way you can access switchpro widget which you can customize to have whatever 7 (less if you'd like) toggles available for quick access without ever even having to unlock your device. I currently have mune set up as follows: Widget locker is installed which allows me to add widgets to my lock screen and have access to my notification bar without having to unlock the screen. Then I have power strip set as my default launcher and ADW is set as the default launcher through the settings in that app so hitting the home button goes to ADW by default (double tap on home brings up power strip) I'm all about pushing as few buttons as possible to access what I need quickly. Once someone figures out how to change the default toggles I probably will keep this set up because of the extreme functionality!
I have a similar arrangement but use QuickDesk rather than power strip. QD is activated by double-tapping home, and offers a 4x5 grid for widgets or icons - I have two switchpro widgets that can toggle nearly everything, and some extra categories for App Organizer that I don't use as often as the ones on the home screen.

QuickDesk is awesome! Thanks for letting me know.
I even got QuickDesk + WidgetLocker + ADW.Launcher to work perfect together.
however quite nice still quick desk might be, it would still be nice to have GPS on default slide down bar...
Any ideas...?
this thread would be better in the Development forum

[Q] Desk Cradle and LauncherPro Plus

When I got my fascinate I bought the desk charger too. When I plugged it in, the desk cradle app popped up as I expected. I decided to go with LauncherPro Plus, thinking the dock app would come up automatically, but it doesn't. Is there a way to fix this? I'd like to be using Launcher Pro and put my phone on the charger and the desk cradle app pop up automatically. Thanks for your help

You figure out a way to do this?
I would like it to launch automatically too but all you need to do is push the home key and that will launch it for you.
Tasker in the market would be able to do this. Has a learning curve, but worth it to learn.
From a phone on an app
Also, what I did is bought klaxon (supports a great dev), installed genie widget and you get the stock clock look with weather on it.
From a phone on an app
i would love for this to work too. i have home switcher installed so my default is LauncherPro Plus. so when i hit the home key it doesn't go to the desk cradle.
my lp+ launches the deskclock when i slide it into the home dock (used to launch the normal home dock app, but it isn't on my phone anymore)
Although this might not help because I didn't do anything to make my phone do this it just always has, I'm using LP+ and my Desk Clock launches when I put my phone in the cradle. However, I am using the AOSP desk clock so maybe that makes a difference.
Sent from my StupidFast/Blackhole Fascinate
it does make a difference. if your on stock rom and use launcherpro the desk cradle have to be started manually. now that im running a custom rom i also have the aosp desk cradle now comes up.
Locale, expensive, but a great app.

Play dock DK300 autostart

Whenever the Play is plug into the DK300, it will automatically start the CLOCK application, and map the HOME button to CLOCK application. Is there anyway to prevent that or change the auto launch application?
Thanks in advance.
found my own answers - by using the software from market , dock nothingness OR Dock no-OP.
Thanks
thats good. i believe you can also change it from liveware manager in you pre-installed apps. if you go there you can see the dock (when its connected) and it has app launch and you can remove the clock app.
just you liveware manager.
I would get one if you could set it do a slide show and use it like a picture frame.
Or can you?

You can, actually. It's one of the features of the dock mode. It presents the images on your Gallery as a slideshow.
BTW, I can't find anything on LiveWire which allows you to set up the dock mode. Is it perhaps because I haven't updated the phone (and currently can't)?
At any rate, Dock Nothingness did what I wanted, which was the same as the OP. If I want to launch the clock app, I can do so by myself, thank you very much.

Lol that's what happened to me. I thought that after connecting the dock to my Xplay for the 1st time the dock would appear there on LiveWire, but it doesn't. xD
i started this post cos livewire does not have that option
anyway, enjoy your xperia play and push up my thanks meter please.

Tasker????

Is anyone using Tasker on their Bionic successfully? I have a couple of dock profiles set up but they don't seem to be working.

I have it but haven't ever taken the time to really learn it. I guess I should, and I'll get back to you!

I have Tasker setting profile sounds and turning off and on my bluetooth and it is working fine. What specifically are you trying to get it to do that it isnt doing?
I want Tasker to adjust my screen brightness, media volume, and notification volume to where i want them when it is in either the car or desk dock. It doesn't seem to know when it's docked. I'm wondering if this is because the bionic doesn't use the magnetic switch. The same profiles worked fine on my D1.
I have it set as follows
Docked-Desktop
Auto brightness -off
Brightness -custom level
Notification volume-off
Media volume -custom level
Exit tasks
Auto brightness -on
Notification volume-max
Media volume -max
Similar setup for car dock.
I'm fairly new to Tasker, but that worked on my D1.

tasker works fine for me. when you connect your phone to a dock it should ask you if you want to start the car dock app or if you want to use tasker, tell it to use tasker and remeber this selection (if you want)
I know this is a little off subject but i am trying to set up a task when the w\mic headset is plugged and i click mic button. I want it do not play voice commands. I just want it to play/pause my music. I can freeze voice commands with tibu if i have to. Any ideas?

App not auto launching on CM12.1 or CM13

I use the Hale Dreamer alarm clock app and dock. When the dock is plugged into the headphone jack, it auto launches the alarm clock app and allows the dock to control brightness and volume of the phone. I think it does this through a proprietary protocol through the microphone jack (the dock is TRRS). This is the companion app that I think makes it work: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonrlabs.docksignal.
On the stock XT1096 ROM, the app launches fine and the control works through the dock. On CM12.1 or CM13 the app doesn't launch and there's no control from the dock. Does anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this? Would it make sense to capture the logcat on the stock ROM when the dock is plugged in to see what gets called? I haven't done that before, but it seems like a place to start, although I don't know what I would do with the info. I've searched and haven't found any other posts on this (anywhere). The company also hasn't responded to multiple support requests.
