Some question bout galaxy ace s5830i - Galaxy Ace S5830i General

Just bought an ace not long ago, I have a friend who knows how to mod the phone but mine is an ace s5830i and his phone is the previous one. So here are my question.
1 - Difference between flash and root
2 - After doing modifications on the phone, ( root/ flash ), let's say if theres something wrong with my phone, can I claim the warranty?
3 - After flash/root, will my data on apps and games will be wiped?

1- http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Jargon_list
2- yes. reflash stock rom with odin to erase all trace of modification.
3- after rooting, no. after flashing, yes.

this thing is definitely not possible as its having custom binary counter which haven't been cracked till now

thanks for the correction. i guess once the do custom kernel flashing they stuck with warranty voided until someone can find a way to reset that counter

My guess is the binary counter is in a hidden partition. Flashing via odin wont touch it

[Q] Does the ACE have a flash counter?

Does our ace have a flash counter??
There was a recent development on resetting flash counter on S3, so is there any counter on our phones that the samsung service center guys can check to see if the device is rooted or not.
I know there was a small discussion on this before but no answer was derived then.
Original ace=no.
Newer ace "i" variant=yes.
I don't think so that Ace Has got a flash counter.
Let me tell you how to check it. Reboot into Downloading Mode.
See if there is some screen coming where it is written 'Press Vol Up to continue' 'Vol Down to cancel' and when you press vol up then it should have 'Downloading..." written along with a counter on top saying 'Samsung Binary Official : xxx' if you find the last line somewhere in download mode, then your ace has counter else enjoy! Keep flashing

There is actually one according to ketut...just that the counts are not shown...that is why cwm flashing is more encouraged thn ODIN flashing...as once a certain count is reached, the phone may not boot...

You're wrong,I flashed my ace-i 2 time with odin and so many times i flashed it via cwm,and in download mode it's shows:
ODIN MODE
Product Name : GT-S5830i
Custom Bin Down: NO (0 counts)
Current Bin: Samsung Official
So the binary counter is bugged ?

Nope...he meant a different thing...
To clear things up, the ace does have a flash counter. Its limited to 5 odin flashes per day. But there is no limitation on cwm flashes. The odin counter is reset every day. So it shouldn't be much of a problem!

Yeah.
An easy way to check if your phone has a flash counter that is displayed (a la Galaxy S2), go into Download Mode.
If you see 'Downloading...' your phone's flash counter is invisible.
If you get a prompt asking you if you want to continue, your flash counter is visible.

can i change kernel when ny note bricked ?

please help..
i think my note is bricked.
its stuck on factoryfs step when i try flash with PC odin.
i want go to services center to claim warranty
but i have one problem.
i am already using custom kernel in my note. so i am afraid the warranty will void.
its there any idea to change my kernel to original kernel ?
oh ya im on ICS 4.0.4 Singapore..
thanx
Looky signature for 'toolbox' you will find stock kernel thread link from it.
Flash using pc odin (pda),most probably you will able to.flash it, except you have big loss on partition.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
We already have 4-5 threads with same issue....and even if you some how manage to flash a stock kernel it will not remove your root and that will void your warranty. Retry on on some different PC, some users managed to do it like this.
Edit- M I right dr.ketan?
It requires precious log to know exact issue he faces. If it is not brick but due to connectivity issue then knly it can b managed with other pc. Flashing stock kernel will unroot device, but sure leftover will remain.but if it is real brick and they (service centre)won't able to boot it and never know abt leftover.
They will have two option to check
1.recovery - if it is custom, they will find u r rooted, thats y i advised him to flash stock kernel
2.download mode : you shud not have raised flash counter.
So,
My recommendation
Confirm it is real brick, if yes
Flash stock kernel
Reset counter if.raised
Reclaim warranty

Easy and safe method is using TriangleAway app to remove yellow triangle if you are on Rooted ICS
or else you will have to use USB JIG.

so i just installing triangle away and resetting binary.
after that everything looks normal for me
my galaxy note its on.
btw after flashing with that kernel,
i can't connect to wifi
so i use speedmod kernel and everything its allright,
it is oke to use speedmod kernel in ICS 4.0,4 ?
btw thanx for all of yours help and replies
I dont know which kernel was it, b'coz link is broken. But as you said wifi was not working, it means that shud be custom. Stock kernel dont have wifi issue.
Anyway Triangle away will reset your counter.
Yes you can use speedmod, then reset counter.

Should try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
You'll have to identify the bad partition and then manualy rebuild the partition table with ADB.
You'll lose up to 3gb of space and stock roms will probably not work anymore without fc's. Cm based roms usually work best after emmc brick revival.

My phone was bricked.
And I use hg42 revival method.
Simply go into download mode.
Use odin pc to flash stock rom (gingerbread preferred).
And....
Choose the pit from hg42, tick repartition.
Flash.
Voila. It is up alrd with a lost of 3gb. But I didn't care since I have ext sd.
PS:
It will be good if u know how to identify the bad block first. So u can choose the correct pit file to do repartition of ur device.
And.... u better charge ur battery first, no matter how r u goin to do it. I m sure u don't want to get worst while flash with odin pc, and ur battery dead.

You have to do it manualy with your brain and your hands.
With ADB you can check each partitions to find the one faultly and then create new one.
you will loose space on mass storage (UMS partition) but your phone will work.
So are you still on stock recovery? After flashing PIT you need to format emmc, data, cache and system before flashing new ROM with Odin. You need custom kernel for that.
Also, did you do factory reset with CWM.zip before you bricked?

[Q] GT-I8190L in BootLoop

I am very familiar with the hole ODIN&Root&Flash system with the Samsung Galaxy devices and my friends see me with my super Galaxy S3 overmodified and think is just plain easy so a friend of mine tried to root his Galaxy S3 Mini L version (Central and South American version) and after I don't know what he did his device just didn't woke up and is just trapped in the Galaxy Bootscreen, not even entering into the boot amination.
I kinda had a suspicion that he flashed a rooted ROM that was for the international Mini (the one without a L) IDK if it changes something or if the versions of this smartphone have something different in the insides, but I already tried flashing the WIPE_I8190.zip with ODIN and it failed to pass the bootscreen, I also flashed the Stock Firmware from SamMobile that is for the Mexican Version which is this smartphone (IUSACELL) and it passed successfully but it is stuck again
Do someone have any idea of how to save this poor smartphone?!
Try this, flash in PDA in Odin. Hope it helps you.

Hello friend!, I have "errors" in odin, in the method "Enable Three Button Combo" and "CWM / TWRP / STOCK [DB] [ALL i8190 Models". What I can do?. You know some page to download the official PIT, bootloader, phone an CSC file?
