Hello guys, for some reason when plugged in this will not power on(my dell streak). The lights turn on dimly but that's about it.
Any idea why this might be happening? Or is it best to send it to the scrap heap?
Sounds like a hardware issue. I'd send it to Dell asap.
and if it's no longer under warranty?
I don't mind opening it and attempting to repair it. I just need an idea of what needs to be fixed or replaced.

Might be a bad pin on the connector, might be if not if enough volt/amp if you are not using wall charger, might be dead battery.

doesn't charge with either. I just ordered a new plug though to be sure. I'll give it a shot when I get it. know where I could buy another battery if it is it? its not on eBay or Amazon
the 3 side LED lights turn on, charger light is red, nothing works. not even hard reset or resetting with power button and volume +-
hold in the hard reset button for 2min to confirm that it wont do anything
It just because u over exhausted baterry. I had it be4. Let it charge for 2 hr u will be okay. Or, charge 10 min then hard reset and confirm if u can still fastboot or recovery, reinstall sodtware

Have you tried to plug in a usb to your computer to see if it can pull off a charge? Might work...

That will most likely NOT work. The USB charge off a PC is a trickle charger. First, if the battery is completely drained, take out the battery and plug it into the wall charger. Let it sit like that for about 15 mins. Then put the battery in and let it charge over night. If it still will not power on the device is probably bad.
Are you getting a red LED on the front? If so it could be the "red light of death" (RLOD). It is a known issues that has caused many kaisers\tilts to fail.

actually it might work.....there has been cases where there's damage to the usb port and it wont charge with a wall charger, but fine when connected to a pc via usb cable (or it might be the other way round). the rlod is a different issue, this one seems to be more of a usb port issue. tqg317, take a look at your usb port and see if you can spot any damage.
Moving to the regular Kaiser Forum. Not an upgrading/development matter.

99% of the time a damaged USB port will affect USB to PC or automotive charging only. Take a look at your USB port, if it is curved or lowere on the right side then YOU placed the stylus poorly during a soft reset. You may be able to straighten it out using your stylus, but do it very carefully.

got all the things for reverting back to at&t i imigine i can use the origina att rom but what about the original att spl can it be ran off a microsd card?
My touchpad will charge or atleast it says it will charge but it will not power up. I have tried holding the power button with the home button and it flashed the battery dead sign(which it had been charging for over a day). The sign only appeared that one time and i can not recreate it. Any ideas? It does not have any special roms on it, it is all stock. And I have sent it into HP and they sent it back in 'working' condition but it wasnt fixed at all.

mm...well now it is occasionally telling me that im not using the right power source when I'm using the charger that came with it. And when it did tell me that the back light would go on and off and it would switch to the dead battery sign. It was doing it in a pattern too (dead battery-> back light on/wrong charger -> back light off/wrong charger -> repeat). The USB connection seems fine in there because i was wiggling it around when all that was happening and it didn't seem to make a difference from when i was wiggling and when I wasn't.
And to be honest, I do not know why the dead battery would be showing. It claims it has been charging for days. I am gonna let it recharge again I suppose to see if it makes a difference.
Might be a bad cord.
I have had 5 cords from them fail so far.
I will try another cord but the cord and plug seem to charge my other devices fine and I believe I have used other cords to charge it before. I shall report back in tomorrow.
Well another cord did work but it doesnt show that it is charging anymore. I guess that isnt a big deal but is there a way to fix that?
So my cousin gave me his HP TouchPad to fix because it didnt boot up, he had gotten it from someone and it worked for a while as he stated but than it died and now it woulndt turn on. It's a 16bg i believe and i have searched the forums so i did try a few tricks. When i hold the power button it gives me the low battery and right after it, the white connect to power logo. It shuts off afterwards. When i connected to the computer straight away, it gives the low battery and says to charge reliably use the original cables and so fort, then it shuts off. Anyone can help me with this please?

Bad charging cables are known to cause this problem.
Well I have the USB cable it came with but not the wall charger. Tried cables from my galaxy s 4g, blackberry and few other cables that fit it. Nothing. Tried apple wall charger and Samsung wall charger still nothing. U know where I can buy the originals for it?

You need that hp charger or one that puts outt the same juice 5.3v=2.0A it wont charge on the computers usb port.
It will charge with a 1 amp charger(iPhone;htc wall usb) albeit slowly.
Definately test another cable, find the highest rated USB charger you can, ????, profit!
Well thanks for the replies. I just got home from work and it was connected to the usb port all day, now i took my iphone chargers end and connected it into the power strip and connected the usb. Any idea where i can find the originals or ones that work for this touchpad. When ever power connects to it, low battery comes up showing little bit left with red and it says connect originals if u want the most reliable charging..

nothing is 100% sure, but you will need an original charger anyway...only 5 bucks to find out...i bought 2 just to have an extra usb cable.....
also a nice addition to have is the touchstone charger, yet they run about 40 bucks..you can check one out at tiger direct or flebay.

I work at a Surplus and Recycling office and a Dell Streak 7 Came through here today.
I would like to know if there is anyway to salvage this item and possibly get it to work.
First I will list information:

3G version I think, Has the sim Card clot

I have the service tag and other things but I won't list those here.
The problem I am having seems to be a Read only mode from what I have read. The tablet wont do anything, the charging light does not come on, the screen doesn't light up or anything. I have tried plugging it into the wall charger and the USB charger nothing will happen. I have tried pressing the volume up+power button and nothing happened. I have also tried hitting the hard reset button beside the SD card slot. Nothing happened then either.
If you could help me out at all it would be great,

Try letting it sit on the charger for 24 hours.
Does this mean that there could be some dead battery issue and it just needs to charge for 24 hours?
Its possible. No way to tell really till we get it powered on.

You might be able to request service from Dell.
It could also be a bad charging cable or wall charger, hence why its not charging.
So the charger is a 30-pin correct? could an older Iphone or ipod usb cable work to charge this, or to test if the OEM is bad?

Nope, has to be a Dell specific one because the pin layout is different.
I let it sit on the charger and it did nothing. I think this thing is a f'ed up

I have samsung galaxy note N7000 just purchased it from friend it is from t-mobile. Everything was working fine i did charged it also but before 2 days it was not charging battery gone full down.. I bring new battery to check, when i plug charger or only usb cable through system it is showing charging but it is decreasing battery not increasing.. Please tell me what happened i dont want to repair and open seal of it...
Another thing is i am not able to go into recovery mode i am familiar with htc mobiles and rooted many htc mobiles but about this one i am nob, i am trying to press volume up + power button it vibrate then mobile come to normal boot, i again tried to press volume up + home + power button but same thing happened, i thought if i will go to recovery mode and remove battery cache from there may be it will work please expoerts look into this and help me.....

You might wanna edit that bit lol
It's possible the charger port is faulty, it's a common fault on notes, try cleaning it with alcohol and compressed air, also try new charger, sometimes mine says charging (usb) when connected to mains, I use same charger as my gf and hers says same so I believe my charger is at fault.
If the above methods don't help, consider repair under warranty if you have it.

Either ur charger or the usb port has went awry. So youa can check the battery charging it out of the phone. Externally and theb check if its working good.

Sir tried 3 chargers and usb cables.. also connected usb cable through computer, it is showing charging but it is not charging decreasing battery percent.. Battery is fine got new one to try, battery is working but not charging
