Looking for a possible developer! - Motorola Droid Bionic

Hi guys I know this seems pretty far fetched but is anyone willing to develop a port of the GB MIUI to the Bionic? If its POSSIBLE why hasn't anyone done it? If it isn't possible why can't it be done? I'm still trying to understand why no one's attempted this task since it has been the most popular rom up to date and it seems like MIUI4ever has just dropped off the face of the earth as of late. while i'm a big fan of InSaNeMoD's attempt to port it properly i'm seriously missing my OG Droid for my MIUI rom.

I could try porting it, no guarentees though!

I would definitely like to have this as well!

I've wondered why no one did this first to begin with! Want a fully working rom other than eclipse and liberty. They both look similar and all other roms have the same issues making them unfit to be my daily driver as much as I want them to be.

Again, not development.
Please use the correct subforum.

Ics sdk port

I'm seeing a lot of devices getting ics sdk ports or atleast starting to(in pre alpha stage) I was wondering if anyone wanted to attempt that on our d3s because it doesn't look like we're getting cm9 soon because were not even officially supported for cm7.

An ICS SDK port is would not be worth it. ICS will only come when the source drops.
Why wouldn't it be worth it

Wondering this too.. Nexus one users seem to be happy with their port
Just be patient, or port it yourself.

The Nexus will be out before the month's end, and the source code will drop in the following 2-4 weeks. If someone built it from SDK, they'd have to start it all over again after the source drops.
ya but that means source wont drop till xmas and then by the time someone has a working build moto will be releasing there official build so it doesnt really do anything for us

If Motorola ever actually pushes out an ICS update for us, it'll be at the very earliest the end of next spring. They have newer and "better" phones that they'll update first.

Well back to the topic I think we should have a poll to see who thinks its worth it and who doesnt

It might be a fun exercise, and fun to play around with, but sdk ports are buggy and wont have the framework that really makes up ICS. It would basically GB + some ICS features/apps, since all we have access to is some apps and what they ask for

I hope no one is wasting time working on a port from a Software Development Kit (SDK) emulator "ROM" that is incomplete and lacking. SDK's are for app developers to test, not for ROMs to be be made.
Once the source hits....you'll have a better chance of getting ICS, AND a much better and complete ROM.
I really hope no one is working on an SDK port "ROM" for the D3.

This.
The current devs we have are still working on the roms they first put out. We will not get an SDK port. We'll start to see ICS when the source is released.

Apparently some people don't know what a sdk is for.....Software Developer Kit is not a rom.

Yea, but we can create a rom from it

*sighs* just wait for source.
I'll bet these are the same people that buy a 4G phone from AT&T expecting 4G speeds.

Just to be clear, I'm not working on an ICS port from the SDK. Sorry :/
While I applaud jellydroid13's enthusiasm, there is still alot of work to be done getting the D3 to be more AOSP friendly. This includes working on getting the audio drivers working correctly, BT updated, overlays which don't have PBUNDERUN events every 30 seconds, camera routines to iron out, etc.
Fixing these issues in Gingerbread where our kernel matches up with the source, gives us a better chance at then migrating working source to a true ICS port later.
There is also a fairly sizable kernel hurdle to jump as well.
Just my 2-cents.

Miui

Miui ever?? I love it...

not being a smarta**. you will probably find more info googling this one cause it will pull up links from other forums, i havent seen anything on it in the dev forums. i did a quick search for you to see if i could provide a real answer in the very least. The closest i got was this which doesnt seem to be official MIuI if i read it right. but hope it helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1237197
Yeah...ik about that. Just asking if anyone is willing to provide an unofficial port. Probably not though....ics is all the rage. I wish I could do it...but I don't have the capabilities money and computing wise. Or experience because I never have had the ability and probably never will.

people seem to like the petition things in xda aha. MIuI would be a petition worth making so if you really want it make it. they are developers and the doird3 is a popular phoen so im sure they will listen
Cool ill go ahead and do that when I get the chance
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I too am still waiting for miui. Last I saw in one of the forums was Hashcode saying he might try to port it after he got cm stable.
Only time will tell.

Port neutrino?

Hey I was wondering. Is it possible to port the neutrino rom from the ATRIX to d3? That'd be nice. It was flawless and was a great rom with completely no lag. I'm becoming a little ATRIX sick with my d3

Sounds great! When're you gonna start? I'll be looking forward to it!
I wish I know how to develop. Lol it was just a suggestion

Maybe have Droidian or someone take a look. I think it's he who has been porting ROMs left and right.
Its basically a completely stripped down version of cm7. Like addons for everything that isn't vital and its really fast and only 50 MB what are the problems with cm7?

Best Bionic ROM

Hey everyone,
Ive had a Bioic for over a year and have had dozens of ROMs on it, but I cant quite seem to find the perfect ROM. Im looking for something that would be like Clean ROM, but for the Bionic. Does anyone know of any ROMs that are complete, clean, and fast? Battery life is also a plus!
Thanks for the input!
Thanks for posting in the wrong section. You are looking for Eclipse ROM, which can be found [HERE]
You're better off finding another website to ask on. Xda has been a joke for the Bionic since the phone came out. For a while rootzwiki was the place to go, but now droidrzr forums will have what you need. I only come back here because I got used to it with my previous Android devices. Be prepared, some online forum people act like trolls and take offense to regular people posting in the wrong place. I like to think of it as revenge of the nerds.

This is difficult answer because i as well use multiple roms. It really depends on the users taste. I switch everyday to a different rom;
IcarusHD
Wizzed Bean
SkyL1n3
Eclipse ICS

AOKP

I am currently working on compiling AOKP for our phone. I will keep you guys updated in my process. Hopefully if things go smoothly, I'll have a working ROM to upload sometime this week.

Man I would love this!!!!! Recently had to get this phone cause I switched carriers. Coming from a Note 2 is a little of a shock. A nice rom would ease the transition. Thanks in advance for the hard work.......
no I'm not happy to see you, it's just a Note 2 in my pocket
Looking forward to this!

I would absolutely absolutely absolutely love you if you could get AOKP on this phone. Life would be perfect and glorious.
AOSP style roms are desperately needed on this phone., I love this device but hate the lack of development for it. I wish I was more talented with technology or I would try cooking something up myself. Anyway's I'm looking forward to your progress good man and I will be following your post's diligently.
What's the update here? It's cool with me if things are still "two weeks" away. But whether or not it's still actually happening would be nice to know. I'm just hoping that Zombienaut still wants to make this happen.
On a similar vein, if one were a complete newb, does anyone know how that person could learn enough to be able to tweak AOKP for addition to this phone? How much work would it take to learn, and how/where would one go about getting started?
It's been a long and frustrating ordeal. Trying to work on this while having a job and going to school is making it take longer then expected. Progress is seemingly well, however. The ROM boots, but without working data, WiFi, etc. So please keep patient.
