Mango update - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Just bought a HD7 and I am really enjoying it.
Apart from the random restarts memory card read errors...
Since Mango update the phone randomly restarts without warning and on some restarts says the memory card error, as you can imagine, this is VERY annoying!
What have you done to correct the issue? What possible causes are there and is there any one that can give me an answer?
Thank you in advance!

sim card removal

Hey quick question. I've looked in all the threads but can't quite seem to find the answer. Just wondering if when I go to update to the official htc wm6.1 if I can just remove my sim card during the update process without having to back all my crap up. I just can't find out if the sim card needs to be in the phone during the process or not. thanks for the help.
Your SIM card stays in the phone for the update.
Remove your Micro card prior to the update process and install your new ROM. I think the install directions say to remove the Micro card prior to the install.
Boot Loader
Alright. Im slowly getting there. Just succesfully loaded the wm 6.1 update to my device. But theres a problem. My computer says it's 100% done and the click to finish button comes up, thats not the problem. the problem is after my phone hits 100% it goes back to the bootloader screen. the new SPL is displayed as SPL-3.02.0000 and than it says CPLD-8 and im getting a reaction from the usb, but it wont load the os? ive tried to reinstall from the ruu like 4 times now and nothing.

SD Card Flash Error

Hey guys,
I'm having trouble flashing a new OS on my X1i.
I had to RMA my phone at the start of january due to a display screen failure. Sony Ericsson, a month later, told me that they had not recieved my phone yet and wanted proof that i sent it. After some running around between them and canada post they finally said "our bad" fixed the phone and sent it back to me.
Finally after 2 months, i had my X1i. Alas, i sent them an english OS phone and they sent me back a German OS phone. I called them back and they said they would "escalate" the call and i should expect someone to call me back within 24 hours. Its been 4 days and i havent got a call back. I longer want to deal with them and have decided that voiding my warranty by changing the ROM is no longer a concern.
I downloaded the HardSPL from this thread and installed it
/showthread.php?t=431218
Apologies for not providing a direct link, but new users cant post links due to spam issues
Now my bootloader reads:
KOVS110
SPL-0.72.OliNex
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
Then i downloaded the English Rom from this thread
/showthread.php?t=475482
APP_SW_X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_KOV_R2AA010
i renamed the file to
Kovsimg.nbh
Then i formatted my 4gb SD Card with FAT32
then copied the Kovsimg.nbh file to the root folder
then i turned my phone off, unplugged everything from it, inserted my SD Card into the phone and started up the boot loader
however i get an error message saying "no image found"
i tried the process again but with the filename in all lowercase. this did not work either
what am i doing wrong?
Can anyone point me to in the correct direction?
Is there another easier way to do this?
I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Ravi
Re:
Hello all,
I did some more reading on the SD method and it turned out i was using the incorrect type of MicroSD card.
I was using a SDHC card before and it was not reading the card correctly. When i switched to my other MicroSD card it worked fine.
Thanks to everyone who was kind enough to spend time getting all of this information together in one place so i could avoid another support call
Cheers
Ravi
There's nothing wrong with using MicroSDHC to flash phones, it's just that some MicroSDHC chip can't be detected by the SPL program.
Although some old phones really can't flash using MicroSDHC, but Xperia doesn't have any problem with flashing using MicroSDHC.
Previously I was using Kingston 16GB MicroSDHC and the "no image found" problem occurs.
But when I switch to Team Group 16GB MicroSDHC, the "no image found" problem doesn't occur anymore.
Yup, it's usually an incompatible or bad SD card that prevents an SD flash.
By the way, if you just want to flash a stock ROM, you don't need to hard-spl your phone. The stock SPL will work. But since you already have hard spl, have fun trying out the custom ROMs! It's the same procedure you did when you flashed the English ROM. Try them out and you won't regret it.
re:
@Tom: Yep, i have a kingston SD card too! it must be that kingson is one of the ones that doesnt work
There's almost a sense of information overload in the roms forum. I'm trying to read up on it and get a handle on all everything but i definately will try. Worse come to worse, and i break my phone, will i always be able to load up the bootloader and flash back to the stock ROM?

Click to collapse
Isn't that I stated in the SD flash thread that kingston is known for problem.
I had different 16G SDHC and no issue so far for flashing.
Since you already break the cage and HardSPL, isn't that a good time to try cooked rom as well. ;p
haha! that must have been where i got the idea of trying the other SD card and i just forgot i read it. Thanks for posting it.
I've got Touch 10 Extreme Blue downloaded. gonna throw that on over the weekend and see what its like.
But overall i'm glad i got my phone working again.
Oh and i finally got a call back from Sony Ericsson Escalations. The girl that spoke me to said that the place i got my phone from timtechs.com must have got a german phone and flashed it to english and then sold it to me and that act itsef would void the warranty. And then went on to say that i dont have a choice and i will have to simply use it(in german) or sell it to someone else.
So yeah, screw the warranty, its worthless anyway lol

[Q] Flashing from SD card hangs

I've always experienced trouble (mainly Windows or connection trouble) flashing over USB cable, so I used to prefer flashing directly from SD Card. Did this on my old Hermes and Kaiser and never once experienced problems with it.
Recently got myself a Rhodium, and installed OliNex HardSPL on it.
Downloaded few roms, formatted SD card to FAT32, and put one in the root named "RHODIMG.nbh" as supposed to.
Went into bootloader, it started flashing, but at a certain point the progress meter just stopped moving. I left it for like an hour, but nothing had happened anymore.
Pulled the battery and fixed the phone by flashing a shipped ROM over USB cable successfully, and tried flashing from SD card again with a different ROM. Resulted in the same issue.
Anyone know what could be causing trouble here?
Are you maybe flashing A GSM device with a CDMA ROM, or the other way around?
Very sorry for not updating sooner, unexpectedly been away for a while.
I did make sure both the ROMs and the unit are GSM, not CDMA. Had the same problem in an attempt to flash the factory ROM from SD card.

[Q] Mango Update with microsd upgraded device

Hi everybody
I've upgraded hidden microsd. Everything worked fine with WP7.
Upgrading to official WP 7.5 i've got an "incorrect memory" message.
After 2 more try to restart my hd7 it freezed on htc green screen.
I've reset the device to factory setting.
This operation seemed to work, it restart with mango installed but phone is totally instable : it freezes, restart often (once again gave incorrect memory card message)
have you got solution to this problem ?
SO version is 7.10.7720.68
Firmware 2250.21.40502.401
Replacing microsd with original one could solve the problem ?
Is possible to flash the phone with a rom thet solve the problem maintaining memory expansion ?
Thanks
Mike
You have a Thread about upgrade microsd in HD7 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883582
try to see the compatible list
I read that thread to upgrade my microsd and everything worked fine until today mango upgrade.
Now i have tried to reinstall original microsd : it looks like there are no more problems.
Is there a solution that permits using mango and microsd upgrade ?
Thanks
Mike

[Q] Hard Reset all the time

Hello guys,
now i have got a hd7 windows phone flashed with a custom ROM. (deep shining i think ...)
After the official mango update i had the first reset. The HTC-screen freezed and i couldnt do anything, so i reset my device. After that i installed a custom rom on my phone. Until now there are 8 months since the first reset and 5 hard resets. The resets werent made by me, the phone resets himself. So can you help me please ?? What can i do to stop this ?
I've already asked this in a german forum and they answered that the issue is my mini sd card ! So i tryed to change it today. I've did it but the phone didnt recongnized my new card. So i put the old card back. I looked at my new card and it was only a simple MINI SD CARD 2GB. The card of the device is MINI SD CARD HC 16GB. So my second question is, does only a mini sd HC card fit into the HD7 ?
