[Q] i can't turn on facebook chat on my windows phone - Samsung Focus S

I use Samsung Focus S windows phone 7.5 Mago
I add my facebook accout then turn on under messaging settings but show error:
Can't add Facebook
We're having trouble adding Facebook. Make sure you have good reception. If you do, the problem may be on the other end. Wait a little while and try again.
If you call support, you can tell them you saw this error code: 800488fa
I tried many times still no success, please help me!
thanks!

Do you remember to sign on for Hotmail or Microsoft Live Beta?
if you did, just step out of the beta, enable your chat, and then reenable the Beta if you prefer. It would work.

tried again but still is not.

good information. thanks for it

I have found a simple solution is to reset my phone !

Hi
I also have a problem with the configuration of my Facebook account. I put my email and password correctly, but it gives me a connection error.
"It is not possible to connect
We currently do not have connection.
Tap Retry to reconnect or tap Cancel to set up the account later."
I have a Samsung Focus S with a demo ROM (7.10.7739.25).
Someone help me?
Thanks.

Enable Facebook chat
I followed the below steps to enable facebook on my windows mobile.I got this from a different website.
Step 1: Sign into your Windows Live account, this can be done by heading over to profile . live . com from your PC/Mac browser.
Step 2: Now, there is a bar on the left side of the screen, scroll down and you should see “Connect | Manage”, click on Connect.
Step 3: Now you should be on a new page with option to choose the services that you want to link with your Live ID. Simply choose Facebook from the “Social networking” bar on the left.
Step 4: Using Facebook Connect, sign-in to your Facebook profile, and once you’re done, you’ll see a green “check” arrow on the bottom right corner of Facebook’s logo as shown below:
Note: Make sure you check “Chat with Facebook friends in Messenger” option.
Step 5: Save these settings, and then head over to facebook website and make sure Facebook Chat is enabled, you can do so by clicking/checking the chat box on the bottom right of the screen. Once you see the green dot as shown in the screenshot below, it means that Facebook chat is up and running. If you see “Chat (Offline)”, then simply click on it and it will go online.
Step 6: The part that involves your computer is done here. Now on your Windows Phone handset, remove your Facebook account, and set it up back again from scratch.
Step 7: Now head over to the “Messaging” tile, tap on the three dots on the bottom of the screen and then select settings, and enable the “Facebook Chat” toggle if its off, but it should be on by itself.
That’s it, you’re all done and ready to chat with your Facebook buddies on the go.

Got AT&T Tilt... Got questions

Alright, I just got my tilt, so if these are newbie questions sorry, I tried lookin around couldnt quite find the solutions to my problems... so here we go
#1 I got the HTC homescreen installed, and like it, but the icon for mail takes me to email sample, not my exchange account, how do i change that?
#2 I used to have a 8125, and I remember it had a program called terminal i believe that allowed me to do a remote desktop connection to a computer... Is this software available for the tilt?
#3 I had a T-Mobile dash for while, running the HTC s620 rom, in it, it had internet sharing i think it was called, where i could just hook my phone to my laptop and i could use its gprs connection for internet... Is the tilt able to do this?
Well gosh, higherbeing..... did you even search for these answers or did you at least bring a spoon so someone can feed you?
i tried... it gave me no results no matter what i entered
Let me take #2 for you...... I just drumed up a bunch of hits.
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=t.../forum.xda-developers.com&as_rights=&safe=off
See if that is a starting place for you
thanks grizzley, with that link i was actually able to answer #3 and many more questions i had stored up yet i cant find a solution yet to #1
OK, I think I've got #1 after playing around abit. Not sure if this is the correct way of doing it, but it works!
Press the Mail Icon
Go to Menu > Tools > Options
If you want it to automatically open on your exchange account, ensure "Display Account Picker when opening Messaging" is TICKED. Ticking it will enable the phone to ask you which account you want to go into when you press the Mail Button.
Press OK to close, and close all running apps to get back to today screen
Now press the Mail Button again
Select your Exchange from the list of accounts
Then press the X (close) to exit the account
Press your mail button again
It should have automatically highlighted your Exchange account (i.e. it should be green).
Select Menu > Options
UNTICK "Display Account Picker when opening Messaging".
Press OK
That's it. It should now automatically open your exchange when you press the mail button.

Problem with windows live messenger

Ive been fiddling with the messenger on my diamond, and am having some problems.
It seems to connect ok, but it doesnt show any of my contacts up as online.
Then all of a sudden one contact will come online then go offline again.
And i cant chat at all - it says message could not be delivered.
It seems that my internet connection is not staying active all the time - is there a way to configure it so it does? Or doe anyone else have any ideas?
Im in Australia by the way on the Telstra network.
Thanks
ITs ok, i found the problem....

This comes from an HTC Blog with users trying to solve the problem, i'll paste just the comments:
hi, this link for download http://serre.f.free.fr/mobile/pocketpc_WLM.exe for my work fine.
The link above fixed my problem by checking my version and doing a upgrade.
This fixed it for me too. The file is actually an "official" Microsoft signed installer. Not knowing the website, I was a bit hesitant to install it but after running it, I found it was from Microsoft.
Thank you (Obrigado), I had been trying to download a fix from the htc home page with out luck. Your link worked perfectly well.

another alternative this comes directly from HTC site faq section... note that from all their faqs, there is a top ten faqs, and this stuff regarding messenger is at the top of the list of the top ten faq for HTC, this let you all understand how the problem is big and common (for those who use messenger for business).
"
When I use Windows Live Messenger, I cannot see any friends online.
First of all, please make sure that the clock's Home setting is correctly set to the date and time of your area. Then, make the Visiting area's date and time setting the same as the Home setting. When you are online in Windows Live Messenger, do the following: 1. Tap Menu > Change appearance. 2. Tap Menu > Account options. 3. Tap Switch account and login again."

Other people says that you have to delete all your contacts on the phone, storing them online on the sim, and then you have to switch your messenger account and reconnect.

Well. I have the same issue. I discovered that problem is related to a conflict with another application I had installed; GoodLink service.

this comes directly from a microsoft email for a user who asked how to solve the problem:
A. Re-synchronize your account.
You may need to reset your Windows Live account on your Windows Mobile-powered device by signing out and signing in again. To sign out, please refer to these instructions:
1. On your mobile device, tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
2. Tap "Menu" and then "Account Options."
3. Tap "Switch account."
4. You will be prompted to confirm account switching as this action will sign you out of Windows Live, preventing you from seeing your e-mail inbox. Tap "Yes" to continue.
5. You shall be redirected to the Terms of Use screen, an indication that you are already signed out of Windows Live.
To sign back in and re-synchronize your account:
1. Tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
3. Tap "Sign in to Windows Live."
4. Tap "Accept" on the Windows Live Terms of Use screen.
5. Enter your MSN or Hotmail e-mail address and its corresponding password.
6. Tap "Next."
7. Choose if you wish to have the Live Search bar or Windows Live services on your device's "Today" screen and tap "Next."
8. Choose if you wish to sync either Contacts and Messenger contact or e-mail (or both) with your mobile device then tap "Next" to continue.
9. Wait as your mobile device syncs with your Windows Live account. Tap "Done" when sync is complete.
10. Open Windows Live and check if you are now able to synchronize your account.
B. Verify the size and amount of folders in the inbox.
Please check if the contents are not too large. You may try to delete or archive some of your e-mails and see if this resolves the problem. Due to the carrier, signal strength and mailbox size, there appears to be a limitation.
C. Set up a new Windows Live account and try to reproduce the issue.
We would like to determine whether you are unable to synchronize Hotmail folders due to specific folder structure or contents by attempting synchronization again with empty or unaltered folders.
D. Install a hotfix.
You may also try fixing the problem by installing a hotfix found in this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/943824/en-us
The hotfix is originally intended for Windows Live Messenger (for Windows Mobile 6) contacts issues but there have been customers who were able to resolve Hotmail synchronization problems by installing the hotfix in their Windows Mobile devices.
E. Empty or re-arrange the contents of the inbox.
Try to remove all items from the inbox, delete them or place them in a folder that does not synchronize and try again. If other folders are enabled for synchronization, you will need to do the same with those folders as well or else disable synchronization for all folders except the inbox.
The steps above should help you fix this problem. If the issue persists, we want to continue assisting you until this is resolved. In order to investigate this further, please reply with the following information:
- What is the complete name and version of your mobile device?
- Do you have a Windows Mobile 6 or Windows Mobile 5 OS (Operating System) on your phone?
- Who is your carrier and where are you located?
- What is the MSN or Hotmail account that is experiencing this contacts issue?
- Does the same thing happen if you sign in to a different Hotmail account?
- What is the exact version of the Windows Live application on your device?
To get the version of your Windows Live application, please do the following:
1. On a Windows Mobile device, tap on "Start", and then select "Windows Live."
2. Once the Windows Live application opens, tap on the "Menu" (found at the bottom-right side) and the select "About."
You will be prompted with information similar to this:
Windows Live for Windows Mobile
Version:
10.6.0026.1400
Microsoft
We appreciate your continued support as we strive to provide you with the highest quality service available. Thank you for using Windows Live Mobile.

I have other "problem" regards to Windows Live.
Generaly it's working, but only with UINTERNET connection, and only if I define UINTERNET in the second connection in setting>>connection>>Connection.
It always connect to UINTERNET (or as define in the second connection)
but never to the main connection even while using WiFi..
I didn't find any setting to change this lame connection for Windows Live , Any idea ?
I think (I m not sure) due it trying to sync , so it needs "my work network" , but in fact
I sync to regular Outlook at work (Push mail) , and I need the Windows Live just for Messenger, and I don't need the email account (hotmail) to sync at all...( it in manual instead auto)
Windows Live version: 10.6.0039.1300
ROM: 1.93.456.2
RADIO: 25.05

Can't logon Messenger or sync MSN contacts :(

Hi!
I've had a very annoying problem for quite a while now.
I can't logon to Messenger on my Diamond Touch. I also can't sync my MSN contacts (all my MSN contacts are gone from the phonebook).
I don't know exactly when the problems started, but I do know that I did install the updated ROM (original from HTC) and I do think it might've been after that..
Connectivity on the phone is fine except for this. I can browse the web, sync my mail, use skype whatever.
When I try to logon to Messenger, I only get the error "A serverproblem occured, please try again later".
What's funny though is that I do get disconnected from messenger if I have it online on my PC when I try to connect with the phone.
I've got Windows Live v. 10.6.0039.1300
and my current ROM version is 1.93.774.3 SVE
If anyone know what this problem might be caused by, please tell me. This is so annoying
Thanks,
Anton

Note: I tried all the previous stuff, nothing solved the problem for me but for all other people it solved the problem, so, just try those stuff and see how it goes... note that the first solution should be the best. Maybe i have just some software incompatibility, but at least you all with the problem can try the solutions and report the results.
Wow, thanks.
I will try all these out today and report back once I've done

Click to collapse
the best way to sync/ use hotmail is with the windows live software installed
it just happened on my nike, the same problem as jackyjang has
although i sync it using windows live, there is no new/previous email that i should have received
Do this...
1) Go Start
2) Programs
3) Scroll to windows live and click it
4) Click Menu
5) Chose Account Options
6) Select Switch Windows Live ID
7) It will ask you to switch the id and you wont see your exiting account...chose yes
Now go to email setup and set up in normal way...doing this it wont take you to browser and you will get all the emails in your handphone
Be sure to use syn email option during email setup
Cheers
Vishal
i did it already, i should get my new/previous mails in MAIL tab but there is nothing, it's empty
solved after hard reset

Hotmail account Adding Issue in Xperia R3

I read some posts about an issue, unable to add hotmail account in email wizard mostly using R3 on xperia. I got same issue, I was able to add any other email account, yahoo, gmail, etc but as I try to add hotmail, it was redirecting to opera with link mail.live.com. I spent almost one week with no solution and finally I fix myself. I hope its not a particular fix only and will work for all of you who have had same issue. I am starting this new thread just for sake of people who have had same issue, please try following steps..
Go to Start menu, programs....
Click on Windows Live.... ( note, its "Windows Live" icon, no email or live messenger etc....
Now you are on windows live desktop, windows search box is at top of page.
Click on right bottom corner, "menu" and choose "Account Option"
Choose first option..... "Clear Password" .. done?
Choose second option, "Switch Windows Live ID"
Wait for a while and wizard will bring you to windows "Sign in" page....
Just close this page and you are done....
Go back to your "Email Wizard" and add new account as hotmail....
You will able to add hotmail account without any problem.
This is what worked for me after one week almost trying every thing. I am on X1i using Touch IT Leo 11. Please leave comments if it work for you. Good luck to all.
