[XDAndroid] Gingerbread for Whitestone/Imagio Release 1 09/05/2012 - Imagio ROM Development

Well, after about two months of work we're ready to release the first public pack of android for whitestone. I know you guys have waited a long time for this and it's probably too late for most by now, but here we are! And we have Gingerbread with a bleeding edge 3.3 kernel

How to use this:
You need an SD card. I recommend a clean one (Use HP USB storage format tool to wipe it good)
Place the entire contents of the pack into the root of the SD card. (That means the top directory)
Run "HARET.EXE" from windows mobile. You'll see flying text. Give it some time, first boot takes a while.
Enjoy!

This is a work in progress and as such you'll find that somethings are working and some are not.
What works:
Radio: Calls (Tested on CDMA only. Tell us if you have GSM)
Data.
SMS.
Androidy goodness in general.
What doesn't work (yet):
WiFi.
G-Sensor.
GPS.
Camera.
HW3D (Done. Will deploy on next release)
Media, windows and back keys.
Bluetooth
That last item is interesting. Since not all the keys are working we've mapped them like this to make the phone usable:
VolUP = Menu key
VolDOWN = Back key
Power = power key.
Send = end key.
Known issues:
Data is not working?
You need to edit (from android) the file at "/init.cfg/init.gingerbread.rc". Find the line that says:
Code:
service pppd_gprs /system/bin/pppd /dev/smd1 defaultroute local usepeerdns \
and change it for this one:
Code:
service pppd_gprs /system/bin/pppd /dev/smd7 defaultroute local usepeerdns \
Phone doesn't wake up sometimes?
This is an unresolved issue. The first thing you need to do is deactivate "auto backlight" in both window mobile and android. It will work much better that way but you will still have trouble sometimes. If its not waking up then just suspend it again and wake it up once more until it does. Sometimes it gets stupid, be patient.
This will be annoying when you have incoming calls and you can't see the screen. Just blindly swipe the answer slider and it'll work. The phone is awake, just not showing anything on screen. Touchscreen and everything works though.
That's about it for now. Let me know how it goes.Enjoy!
Thanks to everyone on xdandroid and htc-linux for their undying and monumental support of our misguided efforts
EDIT 05-12-2012: Download links updated. I put up a second release. It was the one we devs were using but I can't remember what was new in it. Not much, probably just the hardware 3d acceleration. Development has pretty much stopped on this, sourcecode is on GIT if anyone wants to pick it up.

+1 on FINALLY!!!

Good to see this finally! I don't have an Imagio, but it's cool to see Android working for this phone...I remember I didn't buy the Imagio because the lack of an Android port (and physical keyboard)

Today is a sad day. After I downloaded it, copied it to an sdcard, I decided to flash my Imagio back to stock and now it's stuck at the HTC splash screen! UGH! Anobody has any idea how to get to bootloader via mtty? I barely remember there was a way..
EDIT: Found it, using PSAS (QMAT) but I have Win7 64bit.. Disabled ActiveSync and got to bootloader... I did a task 29 and I got a bunch of bad blocks

Any experts that can help me get this booting? Any program that will bypass the bad blocks?

That's a lot of bad blocks, man. I guess shop around for a small ROM and pray but I doubt you can survive so many.
I really wish I knew more that could help you. As it stands you're a considerable chunk of our userbase and we hate to lose you at the turn of the tide =(
I should clarify for the uninitiated that the Android port runs from windows and in no way touches NAND, so it couldn't have caused this. You have no need to worry. What happened to m4f1050 is a sad accident that sometimes happens when you flash a custom ROM (Winmo stock in his case)

I can't connecting GPRS or 3g. I edited init.gingerbread.rc but can't connect internet,too

Yeah, I noticed too many. The funny thing is that the phone worked flawlessly before the reset and reflash. Should've left it alone! UGH! Anybody that's planning on running Android off of sdcard won't have this problem ever again, updates are made on the sdcard, that's a plus!

I have an Imagio that I'm using as a wifi device, so ill try this as soon as the wifi is working. Thank you for the hard work.

The Imagio is a great device, tho sadly ignored...
til now
Much Gratitude for the port!
I will try with GSM sim & report back as soon as I have a chance to flash

Well, I went ahead and loaded it even though I can't do anything without wifi. It seems stable and snappy enough. Is getting the wifi running on the to-do list, I hope? If so, my old Imagio could become a very nice secondary device alongside my Rezound.
Also, how will I update Android if/when new versions of this are released? I'm used to loading updates on my HP Touchpad, but I get the impression that this is entirely different.
Hope I don't sound like I'm whining or complaining. I'm genuinely thankful and impressed and looking forward to any continuing development that might take place.
Edit: I found the question to my update question here.

At the moment we're not in the autobuild so those updates might not work for you out of the box. I'll release the kernel updates here until we are though, don't worry.
Of course wifi is coming. Everything is on the todo list. I can't give you an ETA though as we don't really have a regular development schedule or roadmap. Right now we're mostly working on the gsensor, gpu and the rest of the keys. Don't throw away that imagio though! (and if you are shoot me a PM and consider donating it for testing) You've waited this long, might as well check periodically for progress

No worries on that account, I'm just thrilled that anyone is working on this at all. The Imagio was my first smartphone, so I plan to hold onto it as long as it still charges and boots.

We got the GPU working today =)
I may release a new pack tomorrow.

What does getting the GPU working do for us exactly? Forgive my newbie question.

Well, it let's you play some games. Sometimes the games can be software rendered but that's quite slow. The GPU lets you accelerate that (like your video card) and allows you to play other games that do require it.
It's quite old though, the GPU. Don't expect to play the latest games, but hey it's something!
Angry Birds does run. It's super slow though We did some benchmarks against the Rhodium guys and we're pulling in just about the same FPS, so if they can play it chances are we can too.

Hi.
I have Imagio and I run Android, and when I have call, screen does not light up. I tried to change the "auto brightness" but to no avail. Maybe someone has found a way, this fixed a bug?
And how to edit the file "init.gingerbread.rc"? I can not find an editor or a file manager in Android.
Thanks.

I'd love to be a part of this community, but where do I go for a good primer? You all are WAY over my head with all of the registry-hacking shenanigans, but I'm a quick study. I guess I could pore over the threads until my head explodes, but isn't their a more noob-friendly way of going about catching up?
In the meantime, perhaps someone could answer some ridiculously noobish questions:
1) I read a review scolding HTC for not including "Voice Command." What is voice command?
2) I don't see why my Tilt keeps trying to connect to Edge when I'm 3 feet from my WiFi router. Can't I make it try WiFi first?
3) I think I understand that I have Edge and the faster 3G will be in my area soon. So what is GPRS all about?
4) My OLD cell phone could at least tell me how many voice messages I had. This thing only gives me an icon that looks like film - it only tells me how many message I have when it gets a new one and "notifies" me. Any way to add the number? Along these same lines, if the iPhone can "itemize" voicemails and iPhones are sold through AT&T, isn't there a way to create a WM app that does the same thing?
5) I haven't yet hooked my phone up to my PC to sync, so why is it that when I drop down the task list "ActiveSync" has always automatically started itself again?
6) How does one access the registry editor? (Don't worry, I realize that with great power comes great responsibility...)
I have a ton more questions, but I'll bother you with them in waves, I guess.
Thanks
FYI - I'm using the AT&T Tilt and the only "custom" things I've installed are Windows Live, Live Search, and the HTC Home plugin. (All very cool!)
AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! good lord read the wiki for Hermes cause most of the **** is the same and just about all of your questions have been answered in the forum!!!!
cheers
uh... thanks? Like I said, I wasn't sure where to start...
Really having second thoughts about saying "I'd love to be a part of this community" too...

But seriously, it is always difficult to answer a post that has several questions in one and the posts in reply can end up jumbled and confused.
So, how to proceed:
Find the link on the brown bar above to the Wiki. (we do not yet have one for the Kaiser - but much of what is said for the Hermes also applies to the Kaiser)
http://www.fotosearch.com/comp/ISP/ISP113/ispc013011.jpgOn the main posts page you will find a "sticky" post called search XDA-Developers Using Google. You can type key words or phrases into this and search this site only. Many of your questions have been answered several times and you can expect most of your questions to be answered. For immediate convenience here is a link to the same post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314615
If you cannot find an answer, then post a new thread, but keep it specific to a single topic. e.g. Is there a way to make my screen flash like a Xmass tree on 25th December?
It is generally frowned on to adopt a style like:
Pllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeese help me
OMG! i DON'T BELIEVE IT
A sense of humour is always OK (in my view) so long as it does not cross common sense boundaries.
Hope that helps some, initally anyway.
Mike
Not everyone is as discouraging at the first person to reply.
There are apps to download that can fix most of your questions.
I would do some searching on the forums then ask what you didn't find out. I also found out the hard way that if you ask a bunch of questions as once you get considered a noob. But if you ask just one question at a time you will get good anwsers.
I don't consider myself an expert but here is what I know(or think I know on some of your questions)
1 - Voice command is voice dialing
2 - when I am on wifi mine pops up everyonce in while too but it stays connected to wifi with no problems. I haven't address it, there may be a better solution but mine seems to work find so I never messed with it.
3 - I know based on the connection that edge and 3g both connect to the internet GPRS. There are program that allow you to force it to choose the higher one or nothing.
4 - If I click on the voicemail icon it tells me how many I have.
5 - It is always running to be prepared for when you do connect so you don't have to manually start it up. From what i can tell if uses very little resource running so it has never matter to me.
6 - There are program you download to edit the registry. I would suggest looking at the sticky for the kaiser. It is reg edit for dummies that runs on your phone making it very easy to change the settings. It includes everything I was looking at changing.
Don't take my answers as fact, i am sure i will be corrected on a few of them, just trying to help.
Well Drokkon, first off, welcome. I'm pretty new here myself I am tempted to answer all your questions (though one or two have me scratching my own head) but that way you won't learn to get around. I'm siding with what mikechannon said. The answers are here, and his post explains how to find 'em

3 - GPRS and EDGE use GSM, 3G uses UMTS. They do not all connect to 'the internet GPRS' or whatever you meant
6 - My sentiments exactly

1) I read a review scolding HTC for not including "Voice Command." What is voice command?
Voice command allows you to use your voice to command the phone. (Duh, I know). There are 2 different types now. One, you train with your own voice .. the other (Microsoft's) requires no training and can functionally do more. Voice command is included in some roms and from some carriers, Microsofts can be purchased.
2) I don't see why my Tilt keeps trying to connect to Edge when I'm 3 feet from my WiFi router. Can't I make it try WiFi first?
Maybe a dumb question but did you turn on WiFi? Start --> Programs --> Comm Manager
3) I think I understand that I have Edge and the faster 3G will be in my area soon. So what is GPRS all about?
From Wiki:
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a Mobile Data Service available to users of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and IS-136mobile phones. GPRS data transfer is typically charged per megabyte of transferred data, while data communication via traditional circuit switching is billed per minute of connection time, independent of whether the user has actually transferred data or has been in an idle state. GPRS can be used for services such as Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) access, Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), and for Internet communication services such as email and World Wide Web access.

4) My OLD cell phone could at least tell me how many voice messages I had. This thing only gives me an icon that looks like film - it only tells me how many message I have when it gets a new one and "notifies" me. Any way to add the number? There are several app out there that do that. Some free some pay. Look for Pocket Phone Zen or PhoneAlarm. You may also want to click on the icon as mentioned
5) I haven't yet hooked my phone up to my PC to sync, so why is it that when I drop down the task list "ActiveSync" has always automatically started itself again?
ActiveSync is always running (checking) for a connection. You can pretty much consider it part of the OS .. you know .. a "feature"
6) How does one access the registry editor? (Don't worry, I realize that with great power comes great responsibility...)
You will need a registry editor.
PHM Registry Editor or Total Commander (for PPC) are two free choices. Total commander is also a very good file manager.
** Keep in mind, you screw up the registry ... you will be hard reseting (formating and starting from scratch) **

2) In regards to the WiFi vs. Edge, I guess I'm just annoyed because I AM connected to WiFi and yet it keeps going for Edge. I figured out that under Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks, you can choose whether programs use MEdia Net, AT&T ISP, My Work, and My ISP. First of all, this is tedious; secondly it's confusing - I assume it has to do with that confusing question that the WiFi connection asked me: "Is this connection to a) your work network or b) the internet." HUH? I'm sure I'll figure it out.
4) Furthermore, I can't click my voicemail icon. Wonder why not?

Glad I'm not the only one! I've been lurking for about a month, waiting for the Tilt to come out. I was active over at HowardForums and AT&T forums, but once I had the thing in my hot little hands last Thursday, I figured it was time to jump ship and learn how to customize this thing to my heart's content. As you said, however, the board moves fast and I couldn't find a board for beginners or even a sticky for beginners, so I thought I'd ask.

SMS GPS (sms your gps location)

Hey cats, a rom i had included the GPS Location program . kinda neat . but i tried installing it on other roms, but due to it being unsigned it didn't work. and i dunno, i just wanted one like this. the contact list uses your touchflo too . so it's easy to navigate . so i made this ...
Version 2 (Requires .net 2CF)
I didn't want to hook into SMS as a service and keep this app running. So to display someone elses cordinates, you can either click on the google link in the SMS, or copy and paste the cordinates into the App's Search tab. I embedded a http request to the google image server to display the location. Also, if you want to enter a number, just click "SEND SMS" without selecting a contact.
anyway here it is...

Hi, I like that ... a lot ... very handy if you're trying to meet up with your mate.
I don't know if your text includes it, but what about sending a link to google maps, not the mobile version as not everyone has it installed. I wrote a program a few months ago and edited and sent the link below as it works great in the TyTN.
http://m.reimers.dk/?coords=37.4249000549316,-122.007400512695
Also what about a manual phone number entry box.
Get those 2 updates done and it's definately getting a privaledged button on my Home screen shortcuts!!

thanx man . that's exactly why i wrote it . i was heading to a pub the other night.. my friend's asking where it was and he's got an iphone so i was thinking how great it'd be to fire off sms cords in a lightweight app .. no strings attached . now i can, and have!
great to tell your GF how far away you are from picking her up too .. they love that . gives them time to do their hair and pick out sexy undies (hopefully the latter)
i'll make the change for u to add your own number . no problem .. but i do have a question regarding your google map page . it's nice . i'm thinking i can do that in the app itself . did you use an api in your aspx? i'm not familiar with the googly map queries . but i'm curios how you extracted just the image or was it done by a http request and parsing the img src?
Sorry mate, I just found it on the web, it looked optimised for a mobiles screen and it worked great. How it works, no idea!!! I suggest just editing the lat/long with your detail and firing it off do the end user in the SMS. All the other internet maps I looked at were full of advertisments and looked awful.... it took days to find that one!! Hope he never turns it off.

Cheers ... IT WORKS!!!
I'm currently trying to get my GPS logged on so I can try out the map link.
I'm having major problems with the SMS map links ... It'll only ever open half the page either on WIFI or UMTS (Picture on left). BUT if you change the link to "http://m.reimers.dk/?coords=37.42490, 2.007400512695" you get the google map, without all the adverts AND Nav buttons (picture on right).
To
Last suggestion .... promise .... Can you put a zoom function in the Map tab as well???
Cheers

my only concern with using your http://m.reimers.dk server is how long it will exist for? how reliable is it? i don't want my app to stop working because your server went down. let me know
I guess it's the risk you have to take if you want your application to work the best it possibly can.
I've been using it for 6 months with no problems.
Go on ..... you know you want to!!

[APP] [WM 6.5!!] |VGA!!| Pandora Radio Cab -Updated 9.29.09

Over at PPCGeeks they have posted a cooked cab that (I think) was 1st posted over here at XDA and then edited further. The graphics have been tweaked and what we have is a usable and fairly attractive VGA version. I did not make, edit or even tweak this app so my troubleshooting knowledge is limited. This will not work with every ROM but this cab works for me running ★ EnergyROM 'Genesis' (SYS 23016) Manila 2.1 - 9.20.09 WM 6.5 ★… and is fully functional!
Pandora Radio is your own FREE personalized radio now available to stream music on your Windows Mobile handset. Just start with the name of one of your favorite artists, songs or classical composers and Pandora will create a “station” that plays their music and more music like it. Pandora on Windows Mobile is fully integrated with Pandora on the web. Enjoy all your existing stations – and create new ones right from your Windows Mobile handset.
With Pandora you can explore this vast trove of music to your heart's content. Just drop the name of one of your favorite songs or artists into Pandora and let the Genome Project go. It will quickly scan its entire world of analyzed music, almost a century of popular recordings - new and old, well known and completely obscure - to find songs with interesting musical similarities to your choice. Then sit back and enjoy as it creates a listening experience full of current and soon-to-be favorite songs for you.
You can create up to 100 unique "stations." And you can even refine them. If it's not quite right you can tell it so and it will get better for you.

When I try to install Pandora I get a C++ error!!!
This is typically caused by a some type of software that is conflicting with the installation. Member bkress has made a cab that should help those who have the C++ Error, please see Post # 83 and and try downloading this cab at your own risk
I installed Pandora but where is the shortcut?
Download the new version, Thanks to NRGZ28...this issue has been solved!! New cab posted 7/27 which does add a shortcut to the start menu.
Pandora installs fine but I get stuck at the "connecting" screen!!
Try logging on to your Pandora account on your computer (not your phone) and change your email address to a different one and then try you use the app on your phone. Also using the Advanced Configuration Tool try navigating to Network>TCP Window and change the value to 98304, Save your changes, and soft-reset.
Pandora in not showing up in my task manager?
How do I close Pandora?
This version like so many others will not show up in the task manager and will not close just by pressing the X button, you have to press menu (down on the circular pad) then select exit Pandora from the menu.
Once I have switched to another app how do I switch back to Pandora?
To switch back to the program simply click on the shortcut as if to launch it again and it will switch back to the app.
Do I need a subscription for this service?
No.
I have tried all this and it still will not work!!
It should be noted that this seems to be working for people running the newest EnergyROM by NRGZ28...you could always try flashing a different ROM. Before flashing any ROM make sure that you flash the correct one for your phone (i.e. GSM or CDMA) and follow all flashing procedures described in the Stickies and provided by the Chef.
Nice... Working better! Not perfect but better!!! Thanks for the link.

I'm having a problem regarding the 'vector subscript out of range line 756' error upon launching the application.
I've got the Sprint Touch Pro CDMA version running Groove Rom 5.0 with WinCE v5.2.21815.
Anyone else run into this issue?
I've tried two different versions of the Pandora VGA "hack" and both report back the same error.
Am I missing something?
Not sure about either of the two issues above...but it has been said that other software can effect the install of Pandora...I could never get it to work with Mobile Shell 3. Maybe try installing Pandora first after a clean flash and see if it works.
Nice, works great on my Fuze!
Even the screen taps work and stuff is in the right spot now.
My only complaint would be the Fonts are still Micro, but at least we have a fully functioning Pandora.
Thanks!
Also, I have attached the file here so people won't have to sign up for a PPCGeeks account just to download the file.

Thanks! On my way out to the gym and my ipod is dead and can't find the charger... So this will be the first time i take my Fuze to the gym, wish me luck! haha
also I installed it to storage card and it didn't create a shortcut to my programs :/
Sign in worked, on my way out the door... lets see how this goes.
---update------
Everything worked out well.. Buttons on the bottom are a little off and the font in the menus is small but thats just cosmetic and doesn't bother me.
It took a little longer than expected to buffer between songs :/
Used about 55% of battery for 1.5hrs of streaming and maybe 5 min of internet browsing.
When i left the gym it said 45% remaining (left the house with a 100% charge). When i got home it said 27% remaining.. i live less than 3 min from my gym, soft reset the device and now it says 30% remaining :S ?
OH yah, also you can't exit the program just by pressing the X button, you have to press menu (down on the cirular pad) then select exit pandora from the menu.

so you reckon it's going to take you 3 months to create a ROM?
any association with this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567654?
I know you said you don't want us to post what we want but, is there a way 2 make a rom specific for carrier? like a t-mobile USA 1 w/ t-mobile logos, MMS, cabs and myfaves tab or at&t etc..
1 of the things I dont like is that you have to manually lock the device. Is there a way to have it just lock itself when the phone goes off, so that way when you press a button, it takes you to the slide to unlock screen, just like the iPhone do?
Winmo 7 comes out in 2010. I'll take winmo 7.
Slide2Unlock
I remember and app called slide2unlock for the wizard, Yeah i'm sure it would work for the rhodium with some minor tweaks. Your other question yes it is possible.
Heres my thoughts
Ive been messing around with Android for about a year now, and i simply love it. Im lucky enough to have 3 great phones that i can play around with and flash ROMS till my phones slap me. Ive only started modifying my TP2 quite recently and im quite impressed. The truth is however, i still prefer Android to WM at the moment.
Now before i look outside and see my car on fire, let me explain.
I love WM's feature rich functionality, the phones do just about everything imagineable. But the thing thats always turned me off to them is that i still feel like im using a less capable PC that makes phone calls.
I realize were kind of limited to modifying the general UI of the ROMS themselves but id love to see a version of WM that will no longer feel like a WM device. I havent seen anything come from WM thats been "game changing" in a while. I guess thats kind of the reason why i jumped over to Android, when i first saw the OS, i was in awe. It was like something out of a sci-fi movie (lame i kno).
I think what set Android apart is that nearly every function of the phone is accessible in a matter of one or two swipes and clicks. With WM its always the same old "Start, Programs, yada yada yada..." And while TouchFlo brought a much better UI to the system, its almost like putting a fresh coat of paint on a broken car.
I suppose id just like to see a ROM that makes my TP2 feel like something other than a rehashed WM device with a few improvements here and there. It would seem that if PC's got Vista, why are our phones still running XP? I just feel like were using devices nowadays that could handle so much more than the software we have.
I dont know if this is the feedback you were looking for, but its my opinion and i hope it helps. Keep up the great work!

I understand what your're saying. Fresh coat of paint on a broken car. WOW
This is exactly why I cannot wait for Windows Phone 7. You should really have a look at the article below. Alot of people are waiting for Windows Phone 7.
http://www.itpro.co.uk/614938/what-to-expect-from-windows-phone-7
Adobe Flash SQL Server Twitter Bing
We all can agree Adobe Flash should be mandatory in the GSM Elite Rom.
Slide2Unlock ?

Facebook ?
Sql Server ?
In the same post tell us what you don't want in this rom and what you can't live without.
Absolutely Flash (one that actually works)
An all in one IM Client
Pic/Vid uploading app? (FB, Youtube, etc..)
TouchFlo in landscape
Wi-Fi Tether
Slide2Unlock, and power off
Appropriately sized app icons
No more B&W status icons/touchflo icons
thats all i can think of atm. ill add more if i can think of anything
***if this is a dumb question let me know, but is it at all possible to somehow port android .apk's to WM?
What I don't want in a ROM? Fat chicks.

Yes, I agree.
Though, I have never used Android, I can say the same thing with the relation being..
BlackBerry to Windows Mobile.
It just just so much easier to use the BlackBerry in general for music, GPS, browsing and e-mail.
All because of it's quick, easy, concise, and robust interface. Not to mention, many hardware buttons. But getting around the buttons, I want to have quick and easy access to what I generally use in the matter of seconds, not around half a minute (with current ROMs).
I don't know if this is possible, but power to you if you can do it.
Slide2Unlock ?
NO
Languages ?
YES (Japanese?)
Google Maps ?
YES
Bing ?
indifferent, just don't make it a locked app
Twitter ?
YES
Facebook ?
YES
Sql Server ?
indifferent, just don't make it a locked app
Also, I think Gyrator 2, Touch Off, Midomi and Nitrogen (or if there is a better media player out there that can access my 1500+ songs on my 16Gb MicroSDHC card faster than WMP for WinMo) should be integrated into the ROM as it would make the ROM all around, quite usable.
Things such as G-Sensor activated commands should be included (along with Gyrator 2) like;
-Turn over to ignore call
-Pickup to portrait from face-up to answer call
-FULL landscape capability (that means, NO MANILA 2.5 UNTIL IT CAN SUPPORT LANDSCAPE)
-Auto lock and screen shut off when on home screen and proximity sensor senses (flat) surface
By default, I would also like the OUT OF THE BOX ability to change my wallpaper in ALL TABS to whatever picture I may have in my memory, or have just recently taken (meaning no HDWalls as you have to keep swapping it, or go back to the computer to make a NEW .cab file for HDsWalls to keep track of) Background4All worked great, but lowered the quality of the image greatly. I wonder if there is a better alternative?

Somehow.. my younger sister (age 14) found her first smartphone a few days ago... it was an HTC G1... she found it lying around in the public library under the children read section (It belong to some guy most likely, because there were pictures of 'hot' girls on it)...
Well, thing is, she's able to use it really quickly.. to it's full capability, like e-mail, music, GPS and texting...
Go figure that Android is the OS with the most welcoming interface.
She can get to the browser faster than I can on my TP2. (slide over to internet tab, wait 2-10 seconds to load [WOOPS!] Tilted it to landscape, now needs to wait to load again, and then have the ability to press on "launch browser") OR (Slide down on action screen have it load for 1-5 seconds, and then launch browser)
Really easy with the blackberry, so I don't know why a lot of people are saying WinMo is the way to go.. although.. BlackBerry is boring to look at, it's doesn't leave you bored staring as some slowly moving animation when going from function to function...
Make this a thing of the past with this rom!

Could be some bug, thanks for sharing this issue. Pieces thrown out of the screen are supposed to come back almost immediately.
Was it a single piece or a few pieces joined together(one bigger piece)?
I will test some more and will try to reproduce it and fix it. No one else has reported it so it must be happening rarely.
Once again, thanks for the feedback.
Hm, i've tried to do this again, but as You said they snapped back. Last time it was chunk of 4 pieces from the edge of screen. I've tried Young info menu and going back, but still no luck.
But I have to say this id wonderfull app. I'm lovin it

Thanks for trying to reproduce it. I am glad you did not succeed, though It means this issue happens very rarely.
I am happy you like the game! More images are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Lmao!
Sorry, that sounded funny.
"New app everybody!"
"I broke it"
Anyway, cool app! Thanks!
Alright, I had it for the past 3 weeks or so and here is the rundown.
The good: Great app, great collection of lovely puzzles with different themes and levels of difficulty. Amused me for hours and is a great time killer, especially during travel. Loved the choices provided and found it hard to put down.
The not so good: Buggy, occasionally sluggish, pieces do mysteriously disappear - had just one to go, so know it wasn't there. Among the biggest bugs and annoyances - pieces not turning when supposed to, pieces not locking in when they should and the constant 'locked pieces' popup notifications, even for pieces just stuck due to bug. Some puzzles had to be abandoned because the they got either too sluggish or pieces became unmanageable. Once or twice couldn't quit the whole game, not just particular puzzle played at the time.
Overall: Great game and concept regardless of the above. Once the small bits and pieces are ironed out, it will be one of my personal favorites. Would love the opportunity to use own pictures for puzzles.
Thank You very much for creating it, I really enjoyed it and wish you all the best with games development, I think you are on the right track
Hello enigma1nz,
Thank you very much for your opinion and feedback. This type of feedback, especially the "not so good" part, really helps me improve the game. I promise I'll do my best to fix all those problems you mentioned
I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions, they will help me identify the problems and come up with solutions/fixes.
1. What phone are you using? Should not really matter, but is always good to know.
2. What do you mean by "pieces not turning when supposed to"? Do you mean that in a game with enabled rotation pieces do not rotate when you tap them?
3. What do you mean by "pieces not locking in when they should"? There are two cases when pieces are locked: (1) when an unlocked piece is matched with a locked piece, the combined piece gets locked and (2) when you position a corner piece in its correct corner it gets locked.
4. About the "locked piece" popup: it appears when you try to move a locked piece more than certain number of pixels, to tell you not to try and to let you know that this is not a bug. I introduced this in the latest version along with "automatic locking". If you lock the piece yourself, you probably know about the locking, but if not, you might think it is some bug, hence the popup. Let me know if you have an idea how to improve that.
5. What do you mean by "couldn't quit the whole game"? You cannot get to the main menu or when you get there and press Back it does not exit?
Once again, thank you very much for taking the time to write here.
I am almost finished with the new version. It will have 15 more images and ability to import images from your phone. Hope you'll like it

Alright, lets do this I really appreciate you coming back with all your questions. I actually recommended your game to others, so we are all watching with great interest.
1. I am using T-Mobile HD2, running WP7.5 Mango, would be good to hear from 'native' Mango users and see if they experienced the same little annoyances.
2. Yes. In the very hard mode, where the pieces are supposed to rotate, or the custom game, some get stuck and fail to rotate when tapped, they also get difficult to move around the screen.
3. Matching pieces fit together, but fail to lock and buzz as one combined piece, e.g. the contours will still be visible and pieces are still separatable. I usually leave them in such unlocked state, because they will lock and buzz after a while or when they have other pieces added to them, that triggers the locking somehow. The 'locking and buzzing' feature is great otherwise!
4. The pop-up gets activated at random and often, even if you try to move the free pieces around the screen, so from time to time you have to click OK for the pop-up to go away every few seconds. I think the best way of doing it is to include 'don't show again' button.
5. The game just froze, couldn't get out of it, go back to the Main menu or anywhere. Used Mango multitasking to use the phone and leave it on the background, then reboot. Sometimes the last piece gets sluggish or can't be turned and I try to go back to the 'preview' and back to the game to see if it solves it, sometimes it works, sometimes I just leave the game and come back to the saved game later to finish.
Yesterday I encountered a new glitch that I never had before and it never happened again - the whole assembled puzzle with a few pieces missing in the middle moved around the screen with the remaining loose pieces getting covered by it as it moved and appearing again as the empty spaces moved over them. Hard to explain.
But as I mentioned - GREAT GAME. Easy to navigate and fairly straightforward. Can't wait to test the new version!!!! Thank you again so very, very much. I played it on a long trip recently and was surprised to find I made it to my destination without even noticing, that says a lot.
I haven't played this game since I downloaded it, though it's fun. I just have a looooong list of games.
Using the Lumia 800, I didn't notice issues with the pieces not rotation.
I'd like to remind users that the HD2 does not run WP7 natively and the display drivers are not as good as native devices. For example, my HD2 with a 4.3" screen is prone to more typographical errors than my Lumia 800, despite the fact that the keys on the Lumia 800 are much smaller and my fingers aren't exactly skinny.

I have no problems typing whatsoever, haha. Perhaps you need to update your WP7... I doubt your typographical errors have anything to do with display drivers
Yes, I mentioned in my post that it would be good to hear from users running native Mango, but seeing you haven't played the game since you downloaded it, perhaps you'd like to give it a good test over a few days and see what happens? It is possible that problems are limited to HD2 only, but we'll never know until more users lend a helping hand and test drive this game on their devices.

FFS, I know how to type! I have no problem typing well on the Titan, Lumia, and Focus Flash. The display drivers on the HD2, running BTTF ROM, are very different than native hardware.
Will play a few puzzles over the next few days and get back to you.
Thank you both for your feedback.
enigma1nz, thank you for providing the answers, really appreciate it.
