note on T-Mobile - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for a quick answer here....
I live in London, UK,
And I've been offered a galaxy note, unlocked, brand new for £275.
What I need to know is, can I buy this and use my t mobile contract chip in this?
Reason for the question is that I called t mobile and they told me they ain't doing the note on t mobile yet.
My upgrade is due in august so in august I'll get my upgrade and sell it.
So can I do this???

my note is on tmobile uk
i bought it from tmobile uk on contract
works perfectly fine

Yes you can use note with tmobile u are in uk yes

I come off the phone earlier today from t mobile and after I showed interest in the note, he said he can put my name down for 1, as they released on t mobile yet
I just want to make sure if I buy this off someone, will it work with my t mobile chip?

Yes I'm in UK.
If this is the case, why are t mobile not selling this yet?

I got mine from phones4u but with the full monty on t mobile, so I would say yes! Also on the play store it shows it is a t mobile gt n7000, but beware you might feel you future upgrade is a downgrade after you've used it ;-)

Won't be a downgrade mate, as I'll be getting another 1 on my upgrade
Then either keeping it as backup, or selling it due to having an almost brand new 1.
Any normal person would just wait for their upgrade, but after having a play with the note, I need to get 1 asap. I've fell in love with it.

Fken awesome! I hope we can get the Radio sooner than that though. But this is great new nonetheless...i was beginning to think that the Tmo Note was just a rumor after all. This proves it wrong.
Great news, can't wait to get better speeds...I would've considered trading my current note for it, but it looks like they will only carry black, I love my white note too much.
Does the T-Mobile version have the exynos processor since no LTE?

These dates have to wrong cause all new devices are released on Tuesday. They are just like CDs and DVDs, always released on Tuesday. Maybe they will be released yhe same week of these dates.
i wonder if it will have the Wifi Calling feature?? If so, I'm trading in my AT&T for a TMobile Note. Can't wait and it's on my birthday, whoohooo
I hope we can extract the wificalling apk and use it on T-Mobile sims . That will make my note complete:')

That's not true entirely my friend. As a sales rep for the big three we do release phones on special days sometimes... just like on certain days other than Tuesdays they release DVDs and movies and music and such. Discluding pre orders of course.

Well ****. I was going to buy a Note outright from AT&T on July 2nd to use on tmo but now I dunno if I should wait. If it's the same processor, will we be able to port a better radio to the att version? I had my heart set on white...

Well im one of the lucky few who knows someone with a note and insurance so i paid the deposit for mine and im on tmobile so the wait for great signals seems worth it to me since i paid less than half the price for this phone.
It will be the same one though right? No need to worry.

If they were smart, they would bring the exynos and advertise as the most powerful note offered in America or some crap. They don't need it to be LTE equipped yet, so it would make sense and give them an edge.

Has anyone gotten any update to which processor will be used see as how t-mobile does not currently have LTE???
The T-mobile galaxy note will use the same S3 snapdragon 1.5MHz processor that is used in the At&t Galaxy note.
This is great! If the hardware, is the same then we be great for us ATT Note using Tmobile users! Can't wait.
Just curious, if the hardware is the same, how is the Tmo version going to have 42+mbps, since the ATT version can only support 14mpbs. Is it all in the radio update?
Not that I don't believe you because this seems like the easiest and most logical thing for t-mo to do but do you have an reference's? Also since the hardware will be the same will AT&T roms/kernels work without any modification?
If you look at the 2nd and 3rd screenshots you can see the tmobile note uses the same cpu/gpu as the at&t note. The specs could change between then and July 11th, but my imo, i don't think it will. As far as roms/kernals go, i don't know. A dev could better answer that question.

I have flashed the UK and it works great. Why wait? It is an official release, just for the UK. I think US get last on a lot because of all he laws/regulations and the number of users. Release it to the lower number to filter out the bugs. If all is well release to the rest.
Then don´t buy Samsung. Over here in Mexico we dont get any more support than in USA and Canada and we are not whining about it.

One issue with the UK is that you still have to put on the hacked email app to be able to get Microsoft exchange notifications. I am hoping that they fix the manager and gear update to take care of this problem. Also I have notifications working now but they get stacked on top of each other in Exchange, when several come in close together.
That's my issue too. I don't want to use a broken exchange solution just to get the mail that should be working . I am NOT a big complainer but this too has really pushed my button expect more from Samsung on this particular for us early adopters

This is not a "problem/bug" its a security layer implemented by Samsung..
Exchange mail requires a pass lock to be active on Samsung's official app. You may use exchange mail as a every day feature, although people use it mainly for business purposes.
Reason why they force you to view it on your device, your device should be secured with keyguard so your identity can be verified before displaying the email.
Well if that was the case why did the first version work?

Not Whining...
Is just the principal..
You never leave US out...
We the largest consumers in Electronics..
What pisses me of is some of these countries with the update probably have 10 people that own the device.
Lol there's a hostile mob in this thread.
There's nothing wrong with pointing out that the US was left behind with these updates. Yes, I could break out Odin and manually update the Gear myself (and I did exactly that). However, it's ridiculous that the update is taking this long for US customers. I mean, is there a reason why this should be the case? It's going to be the exact same update that everyone else received.
I just don't get it. And frankly I don't understand why you guys are being so passive about it. If the firmware had not been made available by samsungupdates, then everyone would still be **** out of luck.
Running UK version myself but what the heck. Every time someone posts a thread about the US update all the stupid people come out and tell us to install the UK version. My gear IS NOT working flawlessly unless I happen to have a phone from the UK too. As many have pointed out, exchange does NOT work and its not that way because of security trying to protect us. Or is it just people in the US that needs this so called security feature.
Exchange in Europe works with UK ROM, exchange in US plus UK ROM/firmware =FAIL.
If you don't need exchange...good for you, but don't say UK firmware works flawlessly for US customers. It just works flawlessly for the features you happen to use.

Wow still no root

I'm so surprised there's still no root for the ATT s5..im losing hope
Alternative: You can buy a T-Mobile S5, sim unlock and use on AT&T. T-Mo has unlocked bootloader...I did this and it works perfectly.

See people on the Galaxy S4 that are still looking for an exploit. It's highly unlikely bootloader unlock happens. Root is quite the long-shot as well.

I wish there was a more active way to contribute despite having no developer background.
I know I'd be more than willing to do some seriously tedious code checking among other things if i knew it would help the cause.
Maybe buy some dynamite see if i can blow off the bootloader lock.. who knows?
Root will happen. It's not a matter of if, but when.

The T-Mobile S5 is worth more because of the unlocked bootloader. You can sell the AT&T S5 for about $550 and get a mint T-Mobile S5 for the same price if you're lucky and negotiate on Swappa. Then you'll have to unlock it for about $30. Its all worth it in my opinion.

The thing is the T-Mobile S5 will almost always show a full signal bar. When I had the TMO S5 it would show 4-5 bars with a -100-110 dbm signal. ATT signal is much stronger and therefore it will almost always show five bars with a -90, -80-dbm signal.

I can see your point on this one. If the phone is unlocked then you'd be fine. You would be getting service with AT&T, not T-Mobile or Sprint lol.
What I'm kinda worried about is that the S5 becomes a phone with wasted potential kind of like the Optimus G was due to lack of root

You can also buy a metropcs galaxy s5 its more cheaper than the tmobile version and unlock and also you can flash the T-Mobile stock Odin and flash T-Mobile custom ROM ...

I have never understood the mentality of "just go buy it from another carrier." Some do not have $650 just laying around to make that happen. Another thing I don't seem to understand is all the dislike of subsidiaries. I have been with AT&T for over 10 years and never had an issue. My bill does not seem to be affected when I get an upgrade either, so I don't see the logic of paying full price for a phone from another carrier and remain on another one. It would seem like I am paying more out of pocket that way.

Region Unlock Samsung Note 4

Hello,
I just got a Samsung Note 4 from a friend of mine from UK. Its N910f Model and is region locked. Can anyone tell me as to how can I get rid of it. I can't do the 5 minute calling thing right now so suggesting that wont help.
I am from India btw.

Did you try googling it?

I asked, they said they could do it but it would take a few days to get the code, alternatively order a UK sim card from ebay, top it up and do 5 minutes if calls.
I think he means he's in India with a UK region locked phone. Getting a UK SIM isn't going to be a fix as I doubt the phone will pick up a signal from a UK mast lol

Good morning guys. I just made the jump from AT&T and I was wondering does tmobile update their phones for the life of the device or like AT&T does that they update phones 3 times then concentrate on newer devices? Please let me know. Thanks in advance

"...they update phones 3 times then concentrate on newer devices..."
Sad but true. The Note 2 I recently sold was still stuck on Jelly Bean and Note 2 owners were promised KitKat from T-Mobile, never received the update. And now there is no news of Lollipop for the T-Mobile Note 2.
I had the AT&T Note 4, but returned it, mainly due to the fact that it was not developer-support. Because I'm on the JUMP! Program, I'll most likely end up changing my device every 6-8 months or so, therefore the update schedule doesn't and shouldn't hurt me anymore.

Thanks for the reply man. It's messed up the American companies do this. The international versions of the phone that we stopped receiving updates for here in the u.s are still receiving updates internationally. you just wont get carrier provided updates after awhile, but you are free to do anything you want to your phone, you just have to deal with the consequences if you break/ruin/brick it..
