It comes when you set the phone on ring and vibrate both.
Set the phone only to ringing mode and it will vanish. Once you activate to vibrate along with ring it will emerge in the status bar.
Used to remove it in the GB using JKay mods - Deluxe Settings

I think it shows up whenever you have your phone set to vibrate..either with ringer or on silent mode.

thanks for the replies guys, think ill just have to live with being told its on vibrate

Couple of problems

I have a couple of anoying problems with the diamond. Its my first smart phone and there are som things I think the SonyEricsson handle better
First, whats up with the deal that Phone mode dissapears when you talk? When I´m calling some kind of support and need to press numbers thru the menu the phone locks after just about 5 secs and I have to go in to phone and keypad again, very anoying. Is their a way to keep in i phone mode to easy access to the keypad and ex speaker mode?
Second, the phone doesnt vibrate when it rings. When I choose vibrate-mode in the quick list it goes quite and vibrating, great for meetings. But I still want the phone to vibrate if I´m in a club or something
Third, Is there any way to shut down the function of the keypad appears automatically? When I go in the phone and wants to call I may have the number in the quick list but then I have to get the keypad away to see it. Isnt there a way to get it to appear only when I actually press the keypad button?
That was the first three questions, I suspects there will be plenty more after a while But I would appreciate any help I can get

this is a feature not a bug and it is for you not to start any app with yr ear.
it can be override in many ways. one of them is using advance configuration 3.2. search! search!

try settings/phone/ring type/ vibrate and ring or vibrate the ring.

also can be changed. in phone mode go to menu/view/speed dial. this way when you call you'll get behind the phone pad yr speed dial. just push the little phone icon in the middle, lower screen and you'll have the speed dial only.

i hope that next questions you are going to ask are going to be after you'll read the manual and a few threads here or you'll get ignored or worse...seriously flamed.

I was told to put Phone sleep during call and fast sleep during call to Disable and Not Allowed in AC but the problems still remains.

I want to change the way the keypad acts. So its never appears automatically when the phone thinks I´m gonna use it, when I´m gonna write a SMS for example

Can you make the lock screen toggle vibrate instead of silent?

From the lock screen you can either unlock the phone to get to the home screen or toggle the phone to silent with no vibrate. What I want to do is make it turn my phone to silent WITH vibrate or even add an option to the phones settings under Location & security settings. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I *WISH* for this functionality!!!
+1 .
yes this would be an awesome idea!
It would be nice to have this. Coming from Hero, I really miss it (HTC has added vibrate to this menu).
If you want to make a patch for it here is the file to hack on:
Link to kernel.org
Maybe someone can make a very functioning patch, including translated strings etc and submit to cyanogen for incorporation into his ROM *hint*
try "vibrate mode by force".
its in market .
and never get pure again silent .

Well, it kinda works. You can put the phone into vibrate mode with a swipe on the lock screen. But you can't get it OUT of vibrate mode without unlocking and using the volume keys...
Silent mode jammer in the market. Has bugs but I can get in and out of vibrate without unlocking.

Yeah, it works better than Vibrate Mode By Force. The only bug I've seen so far is if you switch out of vibrate mode, the screen still says sound is off until you cycle the screen (push power button to blacken screen, then again to wake it up) But even though it says sound is off, it's actually back to normal ringer, which is perfect!
why gollge doenst manage these thing by themselfs? everytime installing a app for basement functions is really getting on my nervs
Silent Mode Jammer seems to do the job, but as audino said I would really rather this be a built in function instead of an add-on from a 3rd party.
Silent Mode jammer works awesome. Maybe they should build this into the OS.

Sound Profiles

This issue has plagued me since the Droid 3 (didn't plague my T-Mobile HTC devices such as the G1, MyTouch Slide, or G2)...
What I want:
Hold the volume down button and the volume goes from max down to VIBRATE, and then down to silent (if you hold it long enough).
What I have:
Hold the volume down button and the volume goes from max down to VIBRATE or SILENT (depending on audio setting).
I am currently using a sound profile toggle, but that messes up my notification settings. Is there any program out there that you are all using that works as I want it to work?
When I sleep or am at work, I need silent.
When I am in other "quieter" locations I need vibrate.
When I am out and about I need the settings at their loudest.
Why does it not work this way out of the box? Why must we choose between silent or vibrate.
did you try just passing the volume down button multiple times instead of holding It?

Yes. Does this work on your phone? Does it go:
Silent > Vibrate > Volume Minimum to Volume Maximum?
Ok. I admit, it does not. I seriously thought it did. I think Motorola made the vibrate setting an option instead of having a vibrate mode, so the phone is simply either on sound or silent.

Check out settings profiles lite, it won't be exactly what you're looking for by using the volume key but the end result should be the functionality you're going for.
I have three profiles right now on mine, they're easily toggled from a widget on the home screen. I have: Work - all silent except ringer (wife calls me on that line rather than a work line) Church - all on silent/vibrate and then Normal for outside of those other two scenarios. You can configure it to do other settings as well, but it'd at least do the basic you're going for.
I just use SilentToggleWidget. Kind of a pain, but this IS the sort of problem that can be solved by careful application of CyanogenMod
I gotta say that Blackberry at least did that right, yeah I said Blackberry!
I'm in so many situations where I want it to know someone called/txt'd but I don't need it to interrupt conversation with a ring. Seems like it should be standard but even my D1 couldn't do that.

Indeed. If we get fastboot files soon, I'm going to try to see if I can manage to make a port of CM 7.2 until we get CM9 running stable, but at this rate, it looks like we might have a pretty stable port of CM9 first.

Actually, it COULD. Then they updated the software, and the ability went away ...
Of course, then I installed CM and got LEDs when the screen was on AND my silent/vibrate options...

Yea, at the moment I'm waiting on fastboot files until I start flashing away. The work everybody is doing at the moment is great, but I need the phone for work, so... it needs to work!

[Q] Zeus 6.11: Screen switches off during call; can't access dialpad to input digits.

I'm using Zeus 6.11. This is perhaps a "feature not a bug" but I'd appreciate an explanation from those who know!
During a call, the screen detects when it is near something (a face!) and switches off. Great - but when I need to input numbers during a call, it keeps switching the screen off when I move my hand near it.
Is there a way to disable this so that I can input numbers during a call?
Thanks, and sorry for the stupid question if it is one (it probably is).
just try not to block the distance sensor which is next to the front camera(including ur hands and fingers)...the screen will light up automatically..

or you can just press power button to unlock screen and it will last the time you setup at screen settings

Just make sure you don't have the "Settings->Accessibility->Power button ends call" checked
It took a day to figure out why pressing the power button ended the calls, i forgot about this option and there was nothing related to it in the Calls section.

to be honest I've never saw that option... but [I've just checked it out ] it's true... but since is disable by default I think it should represent no problem

Mute toggle

Hi everyone
Just got the xperia z yesterday (after my previous lg 4x was stolen... grrr... may the thief get permanent bursting hemorroids...) and I noticed a weird thing.
The mute/vibrate/sound toggle in the notification bar does not seem to work, and the same goes for the one in the popup shown by pressing the power button for a couple seconds.
Details: the mute or vibrate icon appears on the notification bar, but if I check the volumes in settings, they're still all on, and if I receive a call or get a notification or whatever, the phone actually rings despite the supposedly muted state.
All this doesn't happen if I "manually" turn the volume off with the volume buttons or via settings: in that case the vibrate icon appears and the phone actually does not ring.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Nope but you may want to try a factory reset.
And this is not the troubleshooting section.
