[Q] WP7 on Samsung Galaxy Note? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Are there any plans to cook a WP7 rom for the Samsung Galaxy Note? Was playing with a friends the other day and have fallen in love, but not digging android after using WP7 on my HTC HD2 for years now.
Thanks

Not that I know of.

Install the wp7 launcher from play store best of both worlds then.

Ok, thanks. I feel like the best handsets are only hosting Android and the best OS is getting bad handsets. Ill keep my fingers crossed that samsung/microsoft do something together!

i m not knocking android in any way... gingerbread was great and the notes size was what i wanted... used to use a focus... loved that phone..wp7 is a kick ass o/s and even "jailbroken" i couldnt crash it... the downfall was the apps... nobody seems to care to make decent apps other than 750 versions of the flashlight...lol i do miss the live tiles but im really into android now too since it has got much more stable...
im all for pretty much any os as long as it doesnt start with ios..lol baaaaaaa

If only WP7 was Open Source then it could happen.

That's because wp7 doesn't even support dual core CPUs or resolutions higher than 800x480! It just sucks hardware wise.

Will I miss android??

Hi guys, I'm considering to replace my old trusted HTC desire with an iPhone 4s. Will I miss my android? Anyone make a similar jump?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
The simplest answer is, yes.
I don't know, but I can guarantee Android won't miss you.
How so? Well maybe I will miss the widget feature but other than that I think iPhone kinda do a pretty good job IMHO.

No need to flame guys, it's just a simple question.
Now to the OP, try IOS put, if you like it, keep it. If not, you care slate trade the 4S for an android device. Once it comes down to it, it's all preference.

I went from being an iPhone user (iPhone3GS then an iPhone4) to android and would never go back. There isn't much you can do on an iPhone in was of customization without jailbreaking, and a jailbroke ios4.0 was very unstable for me with horrible battery life. Not to sure about a jailbroke ios5 since I bailed before it was released, although my wife now has the iPhone4 with ios5 (stock) and it is fast, so I'm sure the 4s would be snappy as ever with the improved processor. I like optons, so for me android is a better experience.

I don't understand why anyone would go from Android to iOS, and I'll leave it at that.

It depends on how much money you spent on apps from the Android market.

You will by default miss something about android. That's just natural. Will that thing be enough to make you regret your purchase? Only you can answer that. Hell I miss some things about WebOS on my Touch pad. But will I go back? Nah B-)

i don't really get why you'd want to go the iphone route unless you're feeling a little retro today.
the main reason iphone users dont switch (from my observations) was the money spent on apps, but i've never heard of android users switching to an iphone unless it was an entry-level phone (ie: optimus one, galaxy gio)
edit:
if you're bored with your phone, you can try a different manufacturer like samsung, moto or maybe go stock with a gnex. it'll be a completely new experience.

Actually considering gnex too especially with ics. Samsung for me I dont like touchwiz even if I get one I will definitely install AOSP rom. In that case I will still feel like same old android. Thanks for the input.

The biggest thing for me that keeps me away from ios other than it being closed and no customization is the lack of a dedicated back button. I think its a huge thing to leave out and makes things like opening links in one app that brings up another very disorienting. I think its a huge flaw in the design of the OS. The one home button is incredibly inconvenient and clunky.

Not really, In two years of Android, I've spent a total of $5 on Android apps from the market, I'd miss Android if I left.

That's why I said 'it depends,' and followed it with a smiley. Some people would miss the money they spent in the market/app store. Others will only care about ideology or the OS.
i switched to iphone4 for about two weeks and oh hell no lol i couldnt get back to android fast enough, but i like the roms and just the hacking in general for android
My friend did that... switched from android and now whenever I flaunt my android the look on his face is hilarious...

Running iOS on Motorola Droid (A855)?

Hello fellas,
I've been trying to look around, but couldn't find it. Is there any way to get a droid to dual run ios and android (choosing from the boot screen when you turn on your phone)? I love running android, but the games on the ios I love.

I wish I could run android in my useless IPhone 2G, but its not available too. IOS in Moto Milestone would be a double mess, bad OS and bad phone. By the way I still have my Milestone operational with CM. It is doing pretty well considering hyow old and used it is.
Ability to dual boot Android and iOS would be close to a miracle for any device... But if it happened, it would be awesome. Keep me in the loop, I've dreamt about this also....

Next android release

What do you think google can improve with their next release of android?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I would want Quad Core optimisation. There is not much difference in the feel of Android in Quad Core handsets.
I want Google to do something that would make Apple jealous and when Apple sues Google for no reason, I want to see Google Win
I'm enjoying Jelly Bean, since its pretty new and 99% of Android users don't run it yet. Why are we talking about a new version already?

I think Google may develop a Voice Assistant like Siri built into Google Now. And am not a fan of voice assistants but it seems to be hot around. They may also do something for battery life.

Google has to get a standardized AirPlay equivalent across all their devices, that is TOP on my list. And I would like to see continued development and integration of Google Now.

Hasn't Android supported multiple cores since GB? Pretty sure because I remember all the talk about it. I had the Atrix and it was one of the first dual cores.

I talk to my phone all the time, it's much easier. I use to only when searching for things but now that I have Google Now I use it much more. Most of the time if I am around somebody they ask me what kind of phone I have. I mean I wouldn't use it at a funeral and I don't go to church or Walmart and usually never the mall, I try to avoid mass social situations unless there is a DJ/producer I want to hear.

THIS THIS THIS! A battery is not a feature of the OS, and while making the OS more battery efficient is always good.. I want to see some advancement in the state of batteries, the phone has improved so much in the past few years it's crazy, the battery needs to catch up. I'm talking at least 3 day+ battery no matter the use in all devices.

It's actually quite easy. It runs very slow, but boots nonetheless.
The big question here may be "why would you want to install Win OS to your Android device?" I understand it was just mainly a theoretical question, but since Android is a Linux derivative - I could imagine formatting your device and installing it, but as icedventimocha said:

For development or theming I guess. I can't think of any other reason but linux is a lot better for that and not as heavy so it's faster.

Freaking awesome. I liked the dna when I looked at it, but no removable battery and no sdcard was the deal breaker. And after all the update delays and just the overall poor life of the thunderbolt made me go with a non HTC device. They lost me as a customer for sure. But the spen and multi Window are just sick.

I'll be frank and say I'm not really caring at all.
1st. If it's that great.. Just show it.. Stop with the Michael Bay movie trailer style teasers for an Android feature..
2nd. I haven't cared for anything Cyanogenmod has put out since Gingerbread and not seeing this as anything but another piece of bloatware they include.

I agree with the first point completely. But you gotta give credit where credit is due, especially if you're running a non-stock ROM. A lot of the custom features are based off cm code, especially in all these kitchen-sink Roms you see on the Dev boards now a days. CM is the originators, not the duplicators.

I can agree with features to a point.. It is the ROM as a whole that lost me ages ago and some of the "features" they shoehorned into it.

I love this post a ton. Kudos!
i think it has something to do with a new camera feature in which the camera takes multiple photos and allows you to select the best one. Or maybe even eliminate unwanted elements in a photo as seen in new lumia phones. What ever it is.. I cant wait for it!
Maybe its the new 4.3 CM Rom or a phone with CM as stock.
Like the suggestion of it being a Rom for an Iphone. How much would that upset Apple
Did anyone recognize that phone on teaser? Narrow bezel, not-so-good screen (low viewing angle), Android 4.2.2 and "FREE" sign instead of carrier name.
I think there's something more than camera.
EDIT: Look at the lockscreen wallpaper. Maybe it is red (but because low viewing angle it is kinda blueish)... like on Android 4.3?

I know for sure it is a french phone. Free is a carrier and an internet provider in France. Makes me think of a nexus device, and it looks like the google edition wallpaper.
These buzzwords make me believe that they might start a second path and include stuff they want to see in android, which is too far from googles guidelines
and therefore not included in regular cyanogen mod:
Complete UI overhaul, colors, animations, functions...
But then there is the lockscreen in this trailer, which just looks like stock android.
So we can just wait and enjoy what might come...
