Why sammy still release ics for other country? If it got kernel problem? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA

Im also curious if there's any difference in firmware if let's say i live in singapore and upgraded using the malaysia version? Since the ics for singapore isnt out yet, and i cant wait anymore, are there huge performance changes between region specific roms?

You ask the right question! I can't understand this. Does Samsung officially response on this emmc bug problem?

Say for example, you purchase an ERP software and start to modify/customize the software to your taste/requirement, and it run well w/out any issue. Later when the ERP vendor release an updated version of the software, you updated and your modified/customized component doesn't fit in and has causes corruption on your data, that is your own problem, there won't be any issue if you've used the software as it is, without modifying a single code.
The same applies to the so-called emmc bug, does it even trigger if you've use the firmware as it is? Only the dev/expert will know.

Actually it triggers during normal factory resets too.
Edit: As per the bricking threads, it has a certain percentage of happening. Making the whole thing uncertain with people having successes with some having bricks.

Cause they love quality control and want to test global recall on all ics running phones

I am not too sure if it is different for Android Gingerbread and ICS .

Because they're taking a gamble on it happening only in a minority of cases or a minority of users being susceptible.
Presumably they have risk assessment or a conscious thought process internally that we're not privy to. To us it looks random in occurrance. Perhaps Samsung know more about it than we do and can take calculated risks.

Galaxy note Help **REWARD**

Dear all,
I have recently rooted my Samsung galaxy note using this method:www .cursed4eva.com/root-galaxy-note/ which worked very well and i had no issues.
I then installed Beats audio pro from the play store and thats when i started to get issues like crashes and such so i uninstalled the app, then thats when i started to get a error message saying "Process system not responding" which would result in me losing control of my keyboard and i completely lost service and was unable to make calls etc(O2 UK).
I then performed a factory wipe and cleared the cache but this has made matters worse now when i reboot it only shows up for a couple of minutes then shows the "process system not responding" error message then goes to a blank screen with only the two lights at the bottom showing and i cant use my phone at all.
Please Help ill paypal anyone who can get my phone to work again.
Oh and Hi im Nathan nice to meet you all

Not sure what the point of the last thread was. It's possible that the hot fixed had a virus? Be careful about the sites you choose for Android tweaks, it's incredibly susceptible to viruses. I could be way off here.

nope your right, they add loggers often. Happens with apps as well.

Am I missing something here. Where did the virus come from?
It's not difficult to add things into an app. They're saying that someone could have embedded a virus in what he used for root, to hijack his phone.

Will units shipped with 4.2 be downgradable to 4.1.2?

EDIT: I noticed that this is the wrong section. Please move, thanks.
I heard that the batch sold this Christmas will be arriving with 4.2, after the issues I've heard about I think I'd rather stick with a stable release. (16 GB Wi-Fi)

I would assume they would be. Unless there was a hardware change, I would think you could fastboot flash a 4.1.2 os to it, of course providing you fastboot flash the earlier boot as well. This is speaking in regards to grouper, because I have no idea what the os progression of tilapia was.

4.2 is totally stable. Stop reading and try it for your self.
Downgrade...haha.
Whats unstable about 4.2?
Sent from my KillRom Nexus 7
The 4.2 issues have mostly been from upgrading, and have been cured by a data wipe. Yeah, it sucked for people who don't like reinstalling apps, but that's what Titanium Backup is for. Getting a fresh 4.2 tablet shouldn't cause you any worries, so feel free to enjoy it. A little patience will pay off as those few apps work out their compatibility issues. And, hey, isn't the bleeding edge the point of a Nexus anyway?!?
If you do have problems, flashing a 4.1.2 image shouldn't be a problem.

Yes you can! Just download the original firmware for 4.1 and use one of the tools available, dont remember the names. Not sure if you can get 4.1.2 though, but 4.1 no problem! 4.2 is the first android release that I dont think is an improvement from previous versions.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Upgrade the tablet once you get it, before installing apps. Or do a factory reset after upgrading. That cures 99% of the problems out there. No reason to stay with a lower firmware..
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Although Google has told you not to downgrade units shipped with 4.1.2 or later to 4.1.1, due to hardware issues. 4.2 may/may not work.

Did I get a clone phone?

Hi all. I recently bought another S3 4G and it feels no where near as good as my old S3 is there a way to tell if I have received a clone phone? It says galaxy S3 and I successfully installed ripper rom on it but it just don't feel right.
Also what is a room that has 0 system apps on it and is bare so I can start from scratch?
Thanks

Simply put: If it says it registers to be a SGS III and you can install a ROM that is device specific then it is an S III. If you are still curious though try finding a hardware reading or something and compare it to normal S IIIs

Well it was detected as a S3 and I installed 2 I9305 Roms on it so must just be because....... Well I dunno. Its black maybe lol? Just doesn't feel the same as my old S3 4G did.

Hahaha I can imagine the feeling actually, well enjoy and I strongly recommend Liquid Smooth ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149746), it is basically the same as Cyanogenmod (both AOSP) but unlike CM it has an official build, less bugs (in my experience), proper support and a proper maintainer though it would not be there if not for CodeWorkx so many thanks to him.

Yes I have it on my phone, it has never bugged flashing. If it were to have the Samsung features then it would have a crap load of bloatware on it, making it slower etc. It doesn't even come with the calendar installed so it doesn't like bloatware (excluding GTalk)

The specific problem is a little hard to describe. Its unusable, because I cant read anything. Screenshots are required to understand the problem.

That is weird!
Are you rooted, or is device completely stock?
Have you downloaded any new apps that may have gone rogue or maybe a virus that you can think of?

I am using samsung galaxy note. I plan on getting the note 3, so I guess I accidentally just read note 3 as my device.
I'm guessing if I could uninstall any play store updates, I could update again, and everything would be fine. But I don't know how to do that.

Go to app manager click play store then uninstall updates
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I tried that already. Wasn't there. Looked again, and realized it wasn't where, I expected it to be, because the name had changed to some unintelligible string. Cleared data, then removed updates, just as easily as I expected it to be, but I didn't look good enough.

I suspect you got hit pretty hard with malware.
What carrier are you using or what is the model number of your device, a mod will be by shortly to move this to the proper forum.
You may need to go and do a complete restore of your device.

Yeah, I saw there was another thread in the Gear 2 forums (they should probably combine them!). They said the same thing about it being international or something. I read one post saying they installed it with Odin, not sure if that was true but I will just hold off installing it.
Thanks!

I have no issues here in US. I flashed the Greek firmware in Odin and all is well through a normal day of usage and apps install as usual via Samsung Apps. I'm about to try reverting just for shiggles and see how that goes, for no reason other than curiosity.

Ditto... somehow no one has posted anything about what this build has to offer. I find that sort of strange.
I honestly haven't noticed anything much. I did notice that the occasional artifacts left behind by a previous screen when scrolling through my apps seem to have stopped. Other than that no visible changes to me.

Hi guys, there's a new official BTU firmware available via ota. Change log lists s health improvement plus ui improvement. Will test and report anything extraordinary. Personally I'm hoping the pedometer learns to count steps and the heart rate sensor to stop jumping from 70 to 140 in a few seconds.
