[Q] any apps to replace power button for screen lock-unlock?? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Themes and Apps

I feel ,there is some issue with power button on my tab7.7 , because when i press power button to on or off screen..Sometimes screen shows like rainbow color scattering ...or yellowish bright dots mark, like sand all over on display with black/blank background .
i have to press power button again to get it back normal..So seems there is a issue with power button or power supply to display.. so to make minimal use of power button.. i am looking for any apps... which replaces power button with volume button for screen on-off(lock-unlock) only..
please help ..i have no much idea about..
thanks in advance.

Lock & Screen Off Widget by fsinib. But there are many others.

im using Smart Screen On Pro version and it works awesome

thank you both guys for the suggestions
Lock & Screen Off Widget by fsinib ,is not what , i am looking for, but Smart Screen On LITE..is what exactly.. i am looking for.. i tried it ..but not satisfied with its response, so i kept looking for another one .. and found TapTap app. .. seems it responses better than Smart Screen On .. but even not 100% accurate, but surely..it reduces almost 90% use of power button..

TapTap doesn't support ICS. However I've found Smart Screen works flawlessly on ICS. (I have a custom ICS rom called QuickSilver)

unlocking without using power button? and auto backlight

hi, i was wondering if its possible to turn the screen on(after locking, to unlock) by pressing the volume buttons instead of just the power button? Its really annoying having the power button the only means of turning the screen on, my old renoir worked with my volume buttons(and anything else) same as my dads arena .
Also does anyone know how to change the auto backlight settings? The intervals are terrible, it doesnt drop high or low enough to save battery but the steps are so close you notice the backlight drop just by tilting it away from any light source lol (very sensitive and annoying without really helping battery life!).
Tried searching so I apologize if its already been mentioned but i havent found any mention or solution .
i saw an option of setting the volume button to turn/wake the phone up. i believe it's from the CM7 build..
Yep, turning phone on with volume buttons is definately available on CM7. But I don't think there's that option with any of the MRC roms.
I'm sure that tiny power button will wear out sooner rather than later...it would be good to have another way of waking up the screen.
Yes option is available in CM7, but not still got a few bugs

I don't know what ROM you're running, but MIUI has the option to do what you're asking. It's in the settings menu (I believe under Lockscreen).
oh, ROM CM7 have it also, but I want separate app. Do you know any apps ?
Widget locker. Like 3 bucks in market enable easy wake
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate with ICS and a broken power button.
i just ran into the same problem. golocker is working great for me. and its free in the market.

Fix Broken Power Button by Destil
I found this..
market.android.com/details?id=cz.destil.fixbrokenpb&hl=en
When I tried to download it said it wasn't compatible with captivate but I found the .apk and it ended up working. I attached the .apk I was using to this post.
Another thought, I took my phone apart and cleaned it. I took everything apart down to the motherboard and I poured a little rubbing alcohol on the actual button and pressed it a bunch of times (no battery in of course) and after it dried out it seemed to help get it working again.
Also, when I started having problems again I installed a different kernel and that seemed to help as well. Who knows.. but it has been working ever since.
The Fix Broken Power Button by Destil .apk is below
Thank you topiratiko, I was about to go crazy worrying about not being unable to turn my screen on. But what will I do if the phone shuts off? How will I turn it on? My power button seems to be unable to work.

You can allways go into download mode and flash a kernel for ex and check reboot so it'll boot up, or even better use a jig by inserting it for just a bit to power on and to avoid download mode.

Lock Widget

Can anybody recommend an app what puts a lock icon widget on the homescreen? My case don't allow to press power button, and button savior is too confusing for my mother.
similar Q
Howdy, pardners!
I on the other hand wonder, whether there is possibility to disable onscreen lock - my back button is hardly reachable so i am not worried that it will get pressed. Sliding the screen everytime i just what to know the time or what ever is however quite annoying. Any chance to disable only touch screen, no screensaver - just Laucher home screen with clock, calendar..., unlocking with back button or quick some combination of others?
Would be magical !
regards
In regards to the first post: have you looked in nook touch tools? There may be a way to set one of the side buttons as the power button, therefore locking it.
Good luck!
I dont know if anyone has it too but:
Go to button savior, check the box that says android recent task.(just bottom of the first page).
And everytime that i press the n button long, it goes to lockscreen. i dont know why. Also long pressing the home button on the button saviour does the same thing too.
The power button and the "n" button go to different electrical sections than the four hard side buttons
The two buttons go to dedicated input pins, the four buttons are part of a scanning matrix.
Although it might be possible to statically enable the whole matrix so that you could detect a button push without scanning (while asleep)
it seems that they would have not handled the buttons separately if that were the case.
In short, any button can be assigned to power and put the Nook to sleep.
Although I'm not sure if any button would be able to wake it?

[Q] Home button triggers when touching back of the phone!!

Hi guys,
I got this very irritating problem. My ace randomly triggers home button (it minimizes apps when I am in one or triggers list of apps (in Jelly bean 4.2.2). I am pretty sure its not ROM related. When I press on battery cover (in the part that corresponds with the home button area, but on the back side of the phone), then the home button is triggerd just like I was pressing the home button, even if I am not. Does someone has the same problem? Will the replacement of the 2 year back cover (which was many times taken out because of battery and now its ) help or its HW problem somehow? Can someone please test it?
1. Take the battery cover out
2. Press sligtly with your finger on the plastic part that is on the other side of home button
3. See if the home button function is triggered like you were actually pressing the home button on the display side (even if ur not).
4. Repeat the steps 1-3 with your battery cover on (press on battery cover in the same area
Thanks for the tips and feedback.

Screen unlocks too easily

Hi everyone,
So as I'm sure everyone is well aware, the buttons on the S6 Active are huge and very easy to press (probably designed to be used with gloves). Problem is, the phone frequently turns on in my pocket (I think) because the power button is somehow getting pressed. I'm looking for an app or setting that will require the power button to be double pressed to turn the screen on, or something to that effect. Has anyone found anything like this to save power?
Thanks for any help.
Mine did it a lot before I got a Supcase, now the buttons are a bit harder to press while in my pocket. I do notice that my phone screen turns on when a SMS comes thru, sometimes it'll do some crazy things if it registers touches.
Try putting a glass screen protector on. Pressing the home button brings up the lock screen, add does hitting the blue active button.
