Stock Music Player - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy Every1
So, I am running ParanoidAndroid on my GN and its f'cking amazing, but...
Something that I miss very, very much is the stock music player!
I have a lot of music and my twisted mind likes to create and organize playlists in a certain way and this is where I'am getting frustrated...
Samsung stock music player has a magical option which I cannot find, or I'am just to stupid to find in every other music player I tried
After creating playlist by selecting that playlist it shows all my music and that magical options-- ADD MUSIC, and then option to select all or just a few via checkboxes!!
I dont care abaut equalizer and all that other stuff, I just want back that simplicity!!
Please help- call me stupid, show me light, recommend me app that can do that- just HELP!!

Here is what you are looking for...

Check out post 9 and 10.

Thanks, tried it but thats not it!
I have to add songs one by one. I did found thread which states basically that I cant get what I want because someone has to port apk from /system/app because its linked in samsungs Tw framework and will not work with aosp rom no matter how i push it!
Or something like that...
Wish that i can provide link to thread but cant find it right now(working)!
If I got something wrong abaut this, KILL ME, I'AM A NOOB

LMAO, don't think your a NOOB if you can flash your phone with a custom ROM. Any ways have you tried creating your playlists on iTunes or WMP and just exporting the playlist to your phone

was hoping that it wouldn't come to that, guess I was wrong
Anyways, thanks very much for helping,
Will try to find app on the play store than can do what I want

I flashed Paranoid Android to my Note coming from JB and everything's awesome. However, I too, really miss my stock Samsung music player. Did you in any way find a solution?
Btw, I backed up the apk of my music player using ES File Explorer before flashing. But when I try to install from it, I get an "Install failed" error. Any suggestions?
I really connect with your post because I also edit the tags on my mp3's in a particular manner which used to go really well with the stock Samsung music player.

I have exactly the same issue, everything else about Paranoid Android is amazing!!!
I have now started using WinAmp because I couldn't find a solution, but I would love to be able to get the stock music player back if it's possible or something similar

afaik, it's most likely not going to work because the stock music player relies on touchwiz framework, which paranoidandroid isn't based on.

Possible to port HTC Music.apk to Android 2.1?

is it possible to port the HTC Music player from Sense 2.1 to a vanilla Android 2.1 such as Cannon, Open Eclair, etc?
i'm guessing changes need to be made to the build.trout and sapphire.prop files...
I'd say it is possible. Whatever works on 1.6 will also work on newer versions of Android (i guess)
But the HTC music widget is checking the build.prop and so on. Maybe that could somehow be disabled?
You can also just take an htc sense 2.1 dump
Maybe the framework from semse can be taken like it was possible in 1.5 roms?
that's what i was thinking as well. can't really do anything at the moment since i'm at work.
It's gonna be the same as the 1.5 version, framework problems and things that need to be ported, not a direct drop and edit a few text files.
bump thread
I would love to have htc music app on a 2.1 rom
It's a lot of changing in the framework and then a simple push of the Music.apk file. Unfortunately changing framework from source is complex and not for beginners.
We might have better luck using the music.apk from the MT3G LE since it's very similiar (if not identical) and it already works on 1.6. Haven't tried it though.
That's the thing, you can't do it like that because of the closed source HTC framework.

From the LE yes, but from Hero, no. It's been done for a few Cyanogen ROM versions... but it's old (I think back in early 4.0 days).
I have my HTC Magic and before I upgraded I could add songs to the now playing list before the current song finished playing. So I could make a song/album play after the current one was done. After I did the upgrade to the latest ROM I cannot add songs to the play queue and that sucks.
I have tried Mixzing and I can add to now playing, but it adds them at the end and I can't move them.
Like if I have 10 songs in my list and am on #5 when I add a song it becomes #11, sometimes I want it to be #6 (Play right after the current song). I cannot change the order of the play list. On the new ROM's default player I can but there's no point if I can't even add songs to it. All I can do it take an album and add it to Now Playing, if I want to hear a song from a different album then I have to clear the list and change it to that album...
Does anyone have a copy of the old HTC Music that lets you add songs to now playing, and if not does anyone know a Music app that lets you add songs to now playing and change the order of the play queue. I cannot beleive there aren't any apps to do this, I searched the market and google for Music players and not one does this...

SuperCSDI Music Problems

**Bringing this thread back up because it's a serious concern of mine and I am really hoping that someone knows how to fix this**
Ok so I am running the SuperCSDI Modified by MLIGN. It is awesome. I love it. It's fast Yada yada yadaaa..
I am having a slight issue though. It's is not the application because I tried with several.
When I try to play music on this ROM, it doesn't play. The applications can't find the music in my /sdcard. When I go into Astro File Manager and try to start up music from there, it says "File type mp3 not found"
I'm guessing fixing this would involve flashing something or adding a library or something so I would be very grateful if someone could help me or point me the right way

I haven't had this issue at all, and I use my device to listen to music almost constantly. Also using SuperCSDI.

Playlist oddity, any thoughts?

Hi:
Since the AT&T Froyo update, I am having odd music playlist problems. I am using the stock media player., and all music is stored to external SD card.
When in the song list, to add a song to a playlist, I hold down on the song, and select add to playlist, and then choose the playlist. It does not ever show up in the playlist I chose. This is the same way I have always added songs, only now it won't work.
If I go to the appropriate playlist, and remove songs via the menu button, and then add a few songs, the changes work properly, EXCEPT after the phone is turned off then back on, the changes disappear, and the original songs that were removed are still there, and the songs that were added are NOT there.
Any thoughts on what is causing this? I am desperate to fixe this. Every time I want to listen to music I have to go in and add/delete songs, which as you can imagine is hugely inconvenient.
Any thoughts will really be appreciated.
Thanks!!
Hi again:
I just tried using PowerAmp music player, and the same problem happens as with the stock player
Bump.
This is really a huge problem for me, any suggestions would REALLY be appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you had this problem on any custom ROM?

Hi:
Thanks so much for your reply. I have never flashed a custom ROM. I can however say that I did not have this problem on stock 2.1.
Thanks again!
I actually had this problem on a few roms I was using. A reinstallation of the music app seemed to fix it. In this case, a reset may help unless you want to root and remove/add the app back in the system/app folder.

Hi:
Thanks so much for your suggestion.
I am already rooted. Do I actually go into the system folder and remove it, paste it somewhere else, and add the same app, or do I need to find a file of the music app online to replace the original?
Thanks again!!

That's about it. I'd cut and paste it somewhere else just in case then move the new on in. You can probably grab the app from a lot of ROMs that use the Samsung Music Player or just search for it somewhere. It should be called MusicPlayer.apk

Great thanks!
One last question. Do you think this would affect the proper functioning even in Poweramp, because this problem is occurring when I use that also.
Thanks again!

Can't use new music app on Continuum

Hey I put in a request for the invitation to the new music beta but I cant install the app. Im running Continuum and I uninstalled the music player that came with the rom. Anyone have any ideas?
Perhaps try reinstalling the default player. I don't know if this is the case or not, but the default music app could be like the default text app, in so far as even if you use something else, you still need to have that app for texting to work properly.
Again, I don't know if this is the case, but it is worth a shot.
Apparently it doesn't work for anyone on i9000 Gingerbread ROMs. You're not alone.

HTC ONE Music Player

Hi Guys.
Can anyone tell me is there a way to get the HTC One default music player to work with other devices such as the S4? I love the htc music players visuals when you press the note button and you get the 3d effects, however I dont really use the htc one as it does not work with my setup, but would love to get the player on the s4 or even an alternative from google play?

HTC One stock music player apk. This is the app you can move to your phone and install, but I'm not sure if it will work on other phones or not. Make sure you install it to system/app as it's a system app. Hope this helps.
I am not sure of it( because I use PowerAmp mainly), but i think the stock HTC player needs the Sense framework in order to work properly.
But you can just try out the .apk provided to see if it is working
Thanks folks, having read up it looks like you need the framework for it to work, I see they are working on a sense port to the S4, its a shame there is nothing like it on the market as I think its the best music app I have ever used and I have tried them all!
