Greetings people. The main focus of this guide is centralizing information and files about the title contents to help bolster this community. I'll be as clear as possible in this little guide and excuse me if my English isn't perfect (it isn't my native language) and this is my first XDA guide. Oh and a little disclaimer: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU IN ANY WAY DAMAGE YOUR TABLET. BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE YOU ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS. ALSO PLEASE NOTE THIS GUIDE HAS BEEN WRITTEN WITH A WINDOWS PC IN MIND. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A WINDOWS PC AVAILABLE, GET ONE, BORROW ONE, I DUNNO, but you need one. That said, let's begin.

About Root
What exactly is root and what does it do in my Galaxy Tab 8.9?
XDA user phonic covered the technical details in this post, but basically root allows you to access and control (through applications) the device's internal system files, therefore making you a "superuser". Some apps require root. Advantages such as ad-blocking and more are only available if your device is rooted.
About Bootloader, Recovery & Download Modes
What is Bootloader Mode and how can I access it?
Bootloader Mode is a menu where you manage core functions in your device. In order to access Download Mode (needed for ODIN) and/or Recovery Mode (needed to flash ROMs and more), you will need to enter Bootloader Mode by holding VOL- when turning ON your Gtab, selecting the mode using VOL-, and entering by using VOL+. The box icon represents the Recovery Mode and the other one the Download Mode. While inside Recovery Mode, the Power button will act as an "Enter" button while the volume buttons will move the cursor.
I read something about Stock Recovery and CWM Recovery. What are those?
There are two types of recoveries. The default one that comes with your GTab (Stock Recovery which looks like this) and the CWM (Clockwork Mod) one which has cyan-colored letters for our GTabs. To flash ROMs and manage your device a bit more, you need the CWM one.[/U][/COLOR][/B]
Can I flash the CWM Recovery using the ROM Manager app? Oh and which file format is compatible?
Refrain from that. As of this writing, the ROM Manager app does not have a CWM Recovery compatible with our specific GTabs. If you still proceed, you will softbrick your device and your device will have to do a trip to ODIN in order to work properly once more. CWM-flashable files are .zip files.
About NANDROID Backup
What's NANDROID and why is it recommended?
Simple, a NANDROID is a master backup tool which is available through the CWM Recovery's "backup and restore" menu. It stores everything in the ROM except the kernel and your SDcard contents such as pictures, music, documents, etc (so always backup those elsewhere). It's more like this analogy: a photograph which captured the exact state of your ROM, apps and all at the moment of backup. It is recommended in case of emergency and in case you need to go back to the latest working ROM. How-To section below.
About ODIN
What's ODIN?
ODIN's a troubleshooting/emergency tool in case your GTab bootloops (eternal restarting of a device, i.e. softbrick). Please note that if your device's screen doesn't even turn on (an example of a hardbrick) then you may be out of luck. This tool can save your GTab if you follow instructions, or can hardbrick your GTab if you don't follow instructions.
Where can I find ODIN? Do I need something like a driver to make it work? Also, which file format is compatible?
Yes you do need a driver first (provided at the end of this guide) and a Windows PC. The ODIN program is inside the zip inside the Toolkit provided at the end of this guide. As suggested by developer alterbridge86, use ODIN version 1.85. Regarding file compatibility, generally the .tar files are the ones for ODIN.
Does it remove Root and custom recoveries such as CWM in case of a warranty claim?
Yes. There are two ways:
[*]Flashing an ODIN image to go back to stock defaults (easier in my opinion). If you want to use ODIN then you have options in the Development forum, specifically this thread.
OR
[*]Flashing a CWM zip file (CWM, which is a Recovery, will be discussed in the Recovery FAQ below) after doing all wipes and restoring Stock Recovery (Restoring Stock Recovery How-To is below these FAQs)
Ok, so how do I use the tool?
The How-to section is below the FAQs.
How-To Section
Remember, all files mentioned in this section this way are included in the Toolkit at the end of this guide.​
[ Rooting ]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Make sure to download the Toolkit from the link at the end of this post and put the "Root" .zip in your device's internal memory. You will enter Bootloader Mode, and then Recovery Mode as detailed in the About Bootloader FAQ above. You will now select "install zip from sdcard" then "choose zip from sdcard" and look for the Root.zip which you previously put in your SDcard. Select it with the Power button to flash it and then reboot your device. When your device finally boots, check if the SuperSU app is available, if it is then you're rooted now.
[ Fixing Root ]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
In some cases a ROM can come with a broken root due to the superuser binary being located in the wrong system folder. Please flash the Root.zip package in CWM Recovery. The Root package will delete the offending binary from the wrong place and install it in the right place. For more instructions, see Rooting How-to.
[Unrooting]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
For unrooting, proceed to Bootloader Mode and select the Recovery icon (detailed in the About Bootloader FAQ above) please flash the CWM Recovery flashable file provided in the Toolkit link at the end of this guide called "Unroot". Now reboot your device. If there is no app called SuperSU or Superuser in your apps list, then your device is now unrooted.
[Installing the CWM Recovery]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
First, you need the file called either "7310_CWMR" or "7300_CWMR" depending on your model, inside your device's SDcard. The procedure is very similar to Rooting and either procedure can be done first. Go to Bootloader Mode (as detailed in the FAQ above), then Recovery (assuming you've Stock Recovery), select "apply update from /sdcard", then look for the file you put in the SDcard. Select it with the Power button to flash it. Now, reboot once more to Bootloader Mode, go to Recovery Mode and now you will see the CWM Recovery Mode. You are now ready to flash stuff. Please note you don't need root to flash a ROM, just this CWM Recovery. Be sure to follow the ROM thread's instructions precisely.
[Restoring Stock Recovery]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
For this one you will need to use ODIN. Locate the file "Stock Recovery", which is a .tar file, perfect for ODIN's PDA section. Follow the ODIN 1.85's HOW-TO below.
[Doing a NANDROID Backup/Restore]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
You need CWM Recovery for this one. Once you're in CWM Recovery, the process is straightforward. Look for the "backup and restore" menu, access it and you will see two options: "backup" and "restore". Select "backup" and wait until the system gathers all data and packs it as a backup located in your internal memory, inside a folder called "clockworkmod". Once more, remember this will not backup your SDcard contents such as your documents, music, pictures, etc (so always have a backup of those elsewhere).
For restoring the process is the same. You need to do the following to ensure a proper restore and prevent issues that might pop up: Wipe your system using CWM Recovery's "wipe data/factory reset" and after that go to "advanced" and now "wipe dalvik cache". Now go to the "mounts and storage" menu and select "format /system". That was a full wipe. Now proceed to the "backup and restore" menu, select "restore" to select your backup. Remember to reflash the kernel if you had one that didn't come with the ROM (like _motley's for example).
[Using ODIN 1.85]:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Enter Bootloader Mode and then Download Mode as detailed in the FAQ above. Be sure to have installed the drivers (included in the zip at the end of this guide) in your Windows computer along with the ODIN program anywhere in your PC (also included in the Toolkit at the end of this guide). Open ODIN 1.85 in your PC, look for the "PDA" button, press it and look for the right file (which usually is the biggest-size file inside the downloaded and unzipped ROM .zip). THE FOLLOWING THREAD OFFERS MOST ODIN IMAGES. IF AVAILABLE, put the CSC, PIT and whatnot files in their corresponding places by pressing the corresponding buttons (IF these files aren't available, ignore this sentence). The PIT file is only necessary in case you want to have the Repartition option available and want to repartition the device (this is an alternative that can work in case of a really borked tablet full of bootloops even after a normal ODIN session without Repartition). Now, assuming you have the drivers installed in your PC, connect the device while in Download Mode, and you will see that ODIN will see it in a yellow rectangle in the upper section that says COM# (# being any number). BEFORE CLICKING "START" MAKE SURE "F. RESET TIME" IS CHECKED ON THE LEFT SIDE. Now, click the START button inside ODIN and it's flashing time. Wait until the blue meter fills. After ODIN says PASS in a green square, you can then reboot the device (long pressing the Power button is an alternative if it doesn't auto-reboot).

Hi, I've installed the clockwork Recovery, I wiped everything because I wanted to turn back to factory defalut and now the tab is bricked.
I can turn on it, I see the galaxy tab logo but nothing happens.
So I turned to the default system recovery, wiped again but it is the same: after 10 minutes the screen shows only the logo and nothing else.
Any advice?

Flash a rom and you will be fine.

Done! Now it works perfectly.
Now i'll retry to install clockwork recovery...

Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.6_P73xx,Can use with the other galaxy device such as galaxy S plus?

I don't know. This guide is focused on the 7300/7310 variants of the Tab 8.9 as specified in the OP.

Yes, you are correct. You can root while being in Stock ROM (the system that comes with your device) or after flashing a custom ROM. Yes, root will void it, but you can always go back to the factory image (hint: ODIN) and that removes everything, including CWM Recovery and Root. If you're staying with Stock ROM, then yes, you need to flash the Stock Recovery and Unroot (both How-Tos in the guide).

Hello All,
Maybe a stupid question but, I did not find any clear answer to my question.
I have taken a backup with NANDROID and got the backup into the folder clockworkmod as told in the instruction. Now as I Understand this does not include the ROM or does it?
Also the Restoring stock recovery, how does that work, I put the "recovery.img.md5" file into Odin and flash, but from where does the stock firmware come? Most probably it's not in the 4MB "recovery.img.md5" Do I need to prepare something before using this or does it work without any preparation?
Does it also erase Overcome CWM Recovery that I installer earlier?, It did not say anywhere in the post if I need to have Root permissions to use this?

Hmm, for some reason I did not see page 2 before posting my questions, Got answers to most already, Only the Restoring stock recovery question left, how doest it really work?

Also the Restoring stock recovery, how does that work, I put the "recovery.img.md5" file into Odin and flash, but from where does the stock firmware come? Most probably it's not in the 4MB "recovery.img.md5" Do I need to prepare something before using this or does it work without any preparation?
Does it also erase Overcome CWM Recovery that I installer earlier?, It did not say anywhere in the post if I need to have Root permissions to use this?

A Nandroid, as stated in the guide (FAQ section), is an exact copy of the ROM you were using with all its settings and apps you had. For the Stock Recovery, you just need the file you mentioned, and as stated in the guide, use ODIN and put the file into the PDA section. Yes, it overwrites the CWM Recovery, and no, Root is a process inside the ROM (once your device boots into it), it doesn't have any effect in Bootloader Mode.

Okay, don't know if it's me that is just stupid or what the problem is. I have tried to root my device and it does not seam to work as I'm not able to install any new kernel. Picture attached of when I try to install root.zip
It complains about: "Can't access to '/system/csc/NEE/system/'.
I have successfully installed Android 3.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410887) At least in About it says that I'm running Android 3.2. From new it was running 3.1

This error doesn't have anything to do with root or kernel. It is just trying to set your CSC and fails because the folder is not there. It happens if you flash firmware that is not intended for your region, it doesn't effect anything else, so don't worry about that.

Anyhow any ides to why I can't install a custom kernel after I have installed the Root.zip file? I get following screen when installing:
But after rebooting I still have the original kernel from flashing 3.2

Okay got it now, problem was that "Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.6_P73xx" had been removed when installing HC 3.2

The picture you posted shows stock recovery and you can't flash a kernel with stock recovery.
You need to install CWM recovery and then you can flash the kernel from there. I'm using CWM recovery from there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321142
I used the Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.6_P73xx.zip and flashed it using stock recovery.
If you know how to use Odin then you can download the Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.6_P73xx.tar and flash it using Odin.
It doesn't matter which you use, the end result is the same. Only flashing method is different.
When you have CWM recovery installed, then you can boot to CWM recovery and flash the kernel from there.
If you at any time flash stock rom back using Odin, then it will overwrite all, including the recovery. So you have to start all over.

I'm fairly new at this, and did something rather stupid this morning.
Thought my tab was hosed, but following the excellent instructions provided here I was able to recover it, what a relief...
It was actually a pretty good learning experience, although a bit traumatic.

ROM: Galaxy Exhibit 4G Peach Sunrise 3.01

Peach Sunrise is the first custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit. Based on stock UVLG3, it's deodexed, zipaligned, rooted, very lightly themed and uses a custom kernel. A CWM-based Recovery is required for installation. The industry spyware program Carrier IQ has been removed. This ROM is based on Samsung stock UVLG3 and is NOT vulnerable to USSD Dialer Attacks!
Everything that works with stock works with Peach Sunrise.
You can swap your internal and external sd storage using the included SwapSD app.
ADW Launcher is default. This launcher is highly themable, with many hundreds of themes (including ICS) downloadable from the Market.

1. Back up your data. The installation will format your data partition. I suggest Titanium Backup, available in the Market.
2. Download the peach.sunrise zip file & copy to either your internal or external sd card.
3. Install Galaxy Exhibit 4G Custom Recovery (cwm) . If you're already rooted, you may install from the command line, otherwise you may install from Samsung's Recovery. Samsung's recovery only sees the internal SD, so copy the cwm zip there. Stock recovery sometimes takes more than one try to start.
Easy way to start recovery
* Make sure the cwm zip is on your internal (non-removable) sd.
* Pull the battery from your phone.
* Connect phone to your pc via usb.
* Press & hold Volume-up
* Insert battery
Your phone will boot into recovery. Press the capacitive menu button (left bottom button) when you see the open white box and droid. Choose 'apply update from sdcard' and select the cwm zip file.
4. Start Custom Recovery (cwm): Press & hold Vol-Up, then press & hold Power. Shortly after the plain white Samsung logo appears, release both buttons. Recovery should start after the color Samsung/T-Mobile Exhibit logo.
5. Select ROMwipe. This step is required! You will have problems if you do not install Peach to a clean system.
6. Highlight install zip from sdcard, then press Home.
7. Highlight 'choose zip from sdcard/external sdcard, depending where you placed the download in step 2.
8. Highlight the peach.sunrise zip file, then press Home.
After you confirm your choice, installation should take less than three minutes.

What are you interested in having a ROM do? I've had the phone less than a week, so I'm pleased with this as a start

Installation

1. Put your Exhibit II into download mode. With power off, press and hold the download volume
button, then the power button. A warning screen about the evils of custom software will display.
Press volume-up and you should be in download mode. The screen has the Android robot in the center of the screen and "Downloading" underneath it.
2. Connect your Exhibit II via usb cable.
3. Click the OPS button, then select Ancora.ops
4. Click the "One Package" checkbox, then press the "One Package" button at the bottom of the Odin screen. Select the file peach.sunrise.tar. No other checkboxes need clicking, no other fields need filling. Press the start button.
The process takes 4-5 minutes to complete using Windows 7 in a virtual machine. Once your phone reboots, you should be done. YYMV.

I've posted a screenshot above of what your Odin screen should look like prior to pressing start.
The COM port mapping field should be yellow, with a port number filled in.
All checkboxes are checked.
The Reset Time field is pre-filled in with the value 300.
The OPS field is filled in.
The One Package field is filled in.

Things like this are why we have public betas
You are probably fine. I need to brand the ROM, so it identifies via your settings. Since the Odin process does not format your /data partition when you reboot your home setup WILL look just like like it did, since your /data partition overrides the new default home screen.
If you're rooted at boot the new rom is in place. I'll work out branding in beta 2.

Install this in Safestrap after ENABLING Safe Mode, and as long as you keep it enabled while running your phone, if you make a mistake by freezing too much or if you're deodexing and hit a bootloop, you won't be screwed.
Because Safe Mode is enabled, you should be able to get back into recovery to restore a backup or reflash this ROM so that you can boot back up.
What it contains:
- MotoBlur for Droid 4 (6.13.215)
- A few of the obvious bloatware have been removed: Netflix, NFL TV, Slacker Radio, etc.
- Pre-rooted with Superuser
To Install:
1. Be rooted
2. Install the APK for Droid 4 Safestrap found here (BE SURE YOU'RE GETTING THE DROID 4 VERSION):

3. Once installed open up the application and use "Install Recovery"
4. Make sure you have this .zip on your SD card

6. - MAKE A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR NON-SAFE SYSTEM FOR DISASTER RECOVERY BY CHOOSING (FUNCTIONS SIMILAR TO CWRecovery)
- Controls in recovery are: scroll up = volume up button, scroll down = volume down button, select = power button
- Scroll down and select "backup and restore"
- in the "Nandroid" menu choose "Backup"
- Optionally include webtop in the backup (probably want a 1 for the full backup)
- Confirm
This will take a while ... so be patient.
- Once that's done you can use the [back] soft key on the front of the phone or scroll down to "+++++Go Back+++++" and use that to go back to the main menu
7. Now that we made a full backup, we can turn on Safe System, scroll down to "safe boot menu" and select
8. Select "Toggle Safe System"
This will also take a few moments while your main /data was stashed away.
9. Now that we have Safe System "Currently: ENABLED" (should see this at the top of the screen), we can flash a ROM
10. Make sure you're on the main menu, and scroll to "install zip from sdcard" and select
11. select "choose zip from sdcard"
12. choose whether you have the file on your internal or external SD card
13. now using the scroll and select buttons, navigate to your .zip file and select it
13. confirm that you want to install the ROM.
This will take another little bit.
Now exit Safestrap by going back to the main menu and select "reboot system now".
The phone should reboot right back into your 2nd version of the Stock MotoBlur system.

Keep at it, we'll need deodexed files.
Also, I updated the ROM tonight. I had left some cheesecake files in which were pointing users to a motoblur-dev OTA server.
Please re-download when you can, so we don't distribute a deodexed ROM with that info in it.

Does anybody have a .219 safestrap ROM?

Never mind. I just tar'd over the .219 files from /system onto /preinstall, to overwrite my "safe" install.
I've attached the list of files the 219 update replaced. To use it:
Install the 215 ROM into your safe system, then toggle back to Unsafe mode.
Then in a root shell:

Then when you toggle back to your Safe system it will be running the identical 219 software as your original system.

Hi guys! I believe most of you obtained root via this method by Jiangyi: [TUTORIAL] Root access for ICS on I9100G which requires a temporary CWM. Quite a few users face problems because in temporary CWM, internal storage is swapped with external storage, i.e. sdcard=internal storage, internal sdcard=external storage. It may be confusing for newbies, especially on their first attempt on rooting. Therefore, I decided to release an easier method, where you can flash the zip files directly via stock 3e recovery!
Requirements:
- Running a stock ICS/JB ROM
- External sdcard
Features:
- SuperSU v0.99 by Chainfire
- Busybox v1.20.2 by Stericson
- No yellow traingle
- No increase in binary counter
Instructions (Root):
1. Download SU-BB-Installer.zip from here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390233485161005747
2. Place it in your external sdcard.
3. Power off your device COMPLETELY.
4. Boot into recovery mode by pressing Volume up + Home + Power buttons simultaneously.
5. Navigate to "apply update from external storage" using the volume buttons.
6. Select it by pressing the Power button.
7. Select SU-BB-Installer.zip.
8. Wait for it to finish and navigate up (select "../").
9. Select "reboot system now".
10. Congratulations, you now have root and busybox!

**NOTE: In order to use this method to unroot, you MUST use my method to root before this.

This is the tricky part, the easiest way is to reflash a whole firmware via ODIN. But if you like new methods, try this:
1. DO NOT uninstall kTool or unroot your phone first!
2. Obtain a stock zImage (either you download it or extract it from a firmware package), make sure that it is meant for the firmware you are using.
3. Place the zImage in the root of your internal storage.
4. Launch kTool and select "Flash kernel from /sdcard/zImage".
5. Reboot and if you boot into recovery by Volume Up + Home + Power buttons, you will now see the default stock 3e recovery.
6. Now you can unroot your device.
Optional (remove CWM recovery)(For JB only):
1. Download stock_XXLSR_kernel.zip from here: http://bit.ly/XCEejd and place it into your external sdcard/internal sdcard.
3. Power off your device COMPLETELY.
4. Boot into recovery mode by pressing Volume up + Home + Power buttons simultaneously.
5. Navigate to "Install zip from sdcard" using the volume buttons.
6. Select it by pressing the Power button.
7. Select "Install zip from sdcard" if you placed it in the external sdcard, or select "Install zip from internal storage" if you placed it in the internal sdcard.
8. Navigate and select stock_XXLSR_kernel.zip.
9. Wait for it to finish.
10. Select "reboot system now".
11. CWM recovery is now replaced by stock 3e recovery, and back to stock kernel too.

Mount and remount your SD Card =)

Really great guide man. Super simple. Will use this to root my gf's 9100G and get her on CM once I get back to India. Especially helpful because she just burned out her USB port by dropping the phone in a toilet so she can't use odin. =_=

Keep in mind that you need an EXTERNAL SDCARD for this...Or you are already using one, you will have to wait a while in recovery if that happens...it takes some time...if not, reinsert your sdcard...

This is going to be a bit of a noob question, but I'm new to samsungs, I swear that rooting is very different on everything else.
Is this the best way to flash a new aosp rom? The phone is not ICS at the moment, so I was going to flash stock ICS, follow this tutorial to root, and then install some jb rom like rootbox. Or can I just do temporary CWM and flash the root box on there and keep cwm?

No, JB ROMs require ICS bootloader...so the best way is to flash a stock ICS ROM, root it and get a kernel with CWM, then only flash the new ROM...

Is this the best way to flash a new aosp rom? The phone is not ICS at the moment, so I was going to flash stock ICS, follow this tutorial to root, and then install some jb rom like rootbox. Or can I just do temporary CWM and flash the root box on there and keep cwm?

U must flash ics stock firmware 1st in order to get the ics bootloader..then u can do temporary cwm and can flash any roms based on ics/jb..

[HOW TO] DUAL BOOT for P990 & SU660 on BOTH Bootloaders v5.0

Dual Boot for P990 & SU660 on Both Bootloaders
Now with more and more new ROMs being released every day and only one phone (at least for most of us) to try them all, I think this was needed.​
It is based on the method Bihariel found on a Chinese forum and his latest v2 version for the old bootloader and my previous version 3 for the new one.
It is now modified to work on both bootloaders and Partition layouts. Read change log for details.

ChinaGB, the creator of the System changer app and the original idea.
What is this useful for?
Devs: you can have one ROM configured and ready for use in one partition and a second partition to test your ROMs without touching your daily ROM, so you won/t need to wipe or backup anything.
Users: you can have a stable ROM, let’s say a stock ROM with everything working and configured and you can have a second partition to test ROMs (for example a custom stock based one or a CM10 beta) so you won't need to do backups and wipes.
How Dual Boot works?
Dual-Enabler.zip: this file enables Dual boot by splitting system partition into two.
Dual-ROM-1-to-XX.zip: this file have to be flashed after flashing ROM 1, after flashing it and boot the phone, you will find an app called system changer, by launching this app and selecting Switch ROM, the phone will reboot and start the ROM 2.
Dual-ROM-2-to-XX.zip: this file have to be flashed after flashing ROM 2, after flashing it and boot the phone, you will find an app called system changer, by launching this app and selecting Switch ROM, the phone will reboot and start the ROM 1.
What ROMs can I use?
P990 Devices:
You can use theoretically, any combination of ROMs for dual booting, working on the same Bootloader of course.
SU660 Devices:
On OLD layout you can use theoretically, any combination of ROMs for dual booting, working on this Bootloader of course.
On ICS layout, due to lack of any custom ROMs for SU660, the p990 layout and bootloader is used so only custom CM, PA & MIUI ROMs are compatible, working on this Bootloader of course.
Attention !! The only ROMs you should not use are Auto-wipe ROMs because they will delete your data partition and with it ROM1 and ROM2 save files. Of course if you are an advanced user, you can open the wipe rom and modify the updater-script to remove the auto wipe lines.
Download from here the package for your device and follow the instructions in post #2.
For older versions follow the instructions included in package.

In old bootloader the system partition is splitted in 370MB for ROM1 and 512MB for ROM2 (in case someone wants to install tonyp's & harsh's full ICS version for old bootloader).
Same simple procedure to enable and maintain dual-boot.
Common flash-able zips because they detect current bootloader and partition layout and act accordingly.
Re-compiled SystemChanger app to display more correct messages and also in which ROM you are switching to.

System partition size is 512 MB for each ROM.
Data partition is still shared but with the max size of 2GB.
Included latest cwm recovery 6.0.2.5 by pengus77. It works for all available ROMs for new BL (DM X, FLEX-ICER & unofficial CM10 CM10.1 ones)
NewBL-Dual-Enabler’s scripts are modified not only for the new layout but now also check and format (if needed) the internal SD (the first time after NVFlash is always needed). It also returns to recovery automatically to let you install or restore the 1st ROM.
NewBL-Dual-ROM-1-to-XX.zip & NewBL-Dual-ROM-2-to-XX.zip no longer need to be updated with the boot images of the ROMs.
SystemChanger app’s scripts, before switching to the other ROM, check if current ROM is changed (by md5 checksum of its build.prop as before) and saves the boot.img for next switch.
noshare file, containing the data folders list, is now also saved under /data/dual-boot. This way it will be always accessible and updatable if needed, no matter which ROM is running.
Boot images and md5 checksums are also saved under /data/dual-boot.
Two more flash-able zips added:
Wipe-ROM-data.zip This will wipe the data of the current ROM. Useful for changing ROM or if required by ROM’s chef
Remove-DualBoot.zip This will wipe the data of the other ROM and will also remove the SystemChanger app and scripts from the current ROM. Useful if you want to make a clean nandroid backup, to restore after a repartition to normal layout.

Here is the guide to get Real Dual boot on both BLs.
Please read carefully because this may mess up your phone if you don't know what you are doing.
Oh!! I forgot, this phone is unbrickable, so give it a try.​
Installation Instructions
Extract the downloaded package with WinRAR or similar to any folder.
Copy ROM1, ROM2 and the DualBoot-Control.zip to external SD.
Go to the folder DualBoot-Partition-resizer and run flash.bat (or flash.sh for linux) follow on-screen instructions select BootLoader and wait until NVFlash process finishes and the screen goes black.
Disconnect the USB cable, put the battery back and just power on the phone it will enter into recovery automatically. (It takes about 40 secs to enter recovery 1st time after NVFlash)
Install DualBoot-Control.zip and select Enable Dual Boot option. The phone will reboot (if supported by recovery) and enter in recovery again (if not select reboot recovery from recovery).
Make a full wipe just in case to avoid boot-loops and format /system because it may not be formatted by ROM’s updater-script (mounts and storage --> format /system)
Now flash ROM1 (or restore a nandroid backup of ROM1) and without rebooting install DualBoot-Control.zip, select ROM1 update and reboot when it finishes.
When the phone completely boots, you will find an app called SystemChanger, launch it and click Switch ROM, it will ask you for root rights, click yes, the phone will reboot quickly, press and hold Pwr button + vol down when the screen goes black to enter recovery, if the phone doesn't go to recovery, remove the battery, plug it again and enter recovery.
Format /system (the 2nd system now), because it may not be formatted by ROM’s updater-script.
Now flash ROM2 and without rebooting install DualBoot-Control.zip, select ROM2 update and reboot when it finishes. (Attention: do not restore a backup of ROM2 because it will wipe data files of ROM1)
And that is all, if you want to switch to ROM1, as before, run SystemChanger and click Switch ROM.
Note for those having experienced the older version 2: No need to add boot images in Dual-ROM zips any more.
How to change/update a ROM or Kernel
You have to be on the ROM you want to change/update.
Enter Recovery
If you are changing the ROM or kernel and/or a wipe is needed, install the DualBoot-Control.zip and select Wipe current ROM data.
Flash the ROM or kernel and before reboot install the DualBoot-Control.zip and select ROM1 update if you flashed ROM1 or ROM2 update if you flashed ROM2.
Info: There is also the wipe-rom-x-data.sh in /data/dual-boot/ which can be used to delete the non-running Rom’s data. You can also run this from terminal or adb shell to clean the data of the non-running Rom quickly. For example if you are on ROM1 and you want to change the ROM2 run the script, switch to ROM2 but when screen goes black press pwr & vol- to enter recovery.
How to disable Dual Boot
You have to be on the ROM you want to keep.
Enter Recovery
Install the DualBoot-Control.zip and select Remove Dual Boot. This will wipe the data of the other ROM and will also remove the SystemChanger app and scripts. Useful if you want to make a clean nandroid backup, to restore after a repartitioning to normal layout with AIO-Toolkit.

I am thinking on making a v3 version for old bootloader too, or even better a v4 hybrid one for both bootloaders. So I do have work for now.
Yes I could integrate that into AIO-toolkit eventually in an "Addvanced Options" menu , but let's see how it is working, when more users will try it and "cure" any "baby sicknesses" that may come up first.

I don't know if this will be ever possible or if it's worth trying it.
The only thing that can be done at the moment, is having one 370MB & one 512MB system partitions on the upcoming gb dual-boot version for installing the tonyp's and harsh's full ics 28g version as 2nd ROM on old bootloader.

I installed yesterday dual boot on my 2X and worked fine without any problems!
