You should probably check in the Alliance Thread if it's supported and works ok, but I remember from my GB days that Abyss 4.2 (Redpill Touch) was about the best kernel you could flash for our Note...
Also when you say "overclock to 400 MHz"...I suppose that you're talking about the minimum frequency. You can overclock your minimum frequency with mostly any kernel that has root.
I use AnTuTu CPU Master from the Play Store. It's free and really easy and intuitive to use.

The only one I know of that allows GPU over clocking and voltage control is Thor kernel. Not found on xda as the creator is persona non grata. Google it.
I use the app Voltage Control to specify frequency and voltage settings, very useful. Give it a try.

He is saying GPU not CPU thus the 400Mhz.
I use Tegrak to oc the GPU with Franco kernel.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA

Yeah use tegrak overclock but m using Abyss kernel nd my phone is buttery smooth

thanks shaolin95 but i don't find franco kernel for gingerbread, the only i found is for ics, can you give me a link please
edit: i've installed abyss kernel + bought tegrak kernel ultimate and it works ! thanks for your answer

i wanted to ask does overclocking the gpu help alot in games like more 10 fps ? and does it shorter the gpu's life ?
thanks alot

Overclocking makes device faster... Are you using any custom rom or not? For set Cpu to work you must flash overclocking kernels first (which are only available for stock roms)

Aren't they available for custom roms, not stock roms?
dont use setcpu, use cpu master its better
and which OC u use, which rom?
http://www.mediafire.com/?7shfs8938g3l3 try
some of this oc i use 806mhz and on cm7 music edition v1.0 i got like 2100 score on antutu benchmark
how about GB 2.3.4 stock rom? anyway to overclock it?

have you tried with RC2?
to oc you mini steps are here
1. upgrade to gingerbread firmware i will recommend xxkpi firmware
2. partition your sdcard with the help of clockworkmod recovery partition it according to your sdcard i will recommend you to partition it to 256 mb on a 8 gb memory card it is sufficient swap size is optional it can be your virtual memory of ram (partitioning your sd card will format it completely so first save your data)
3. after it flash cm7.2.0 rc2 rom created by squadzone.
4. fash smartboot kernel created by squadzone.
that's it you have oc your mini

Whcih Kernels support GPU OC?

I have Antutu CPU Master Pro and the change log for version 2.5 says that it now supports GPU overclocking for Galaxy S devises. I think i have at least found that the Devil kernel supports GPU overclocking but does anyone know of any others? I am currently using Glitches kernel and it works great, but i'd like have the ability to overclock my GPU as well.
thanks in advance

umm.. derteufel has updated his thread that the devil kernel doesn't support gpu oc, and he reverted back that option in his newest kernel for the sake that it doesn't work, although the options shows in the devil config application.
afaik, there's no kernel that currently support gpu oc
Thank you!

[Kernel] Overclocked (Confirmed to be not working)

Hey guys
This is my first try in making kernels it's Rafael Baugis/Bieltv3 kernel with overclock (Hope its a real one)
I also used Merruk-Kernel source to help in modifying.
Well the kernel has 7 frequencies 156MHZ 312MHZ 416MHZ 624MHZ 832MHZ 936MHZ 1.248GHZ and ext4/rfs support (Not sure if it mounts both FS at the same time but ti has to)
If you get lags with high frequencies change governor / IO
How to install :
Open Odin, put it in PDA section and flash

I installed it...its very slow....I changed the governor and I/o then it worked....bt its booting too slow and boot animation is also very slow.....

Now we have a kernel with overclock function..
I will try this later......

according to the no frills stats both the frequencies are working fine....
on 936 mhz and governor smartass v2.+ cfq(io).i have a stable stock rom..but battery drains quiet fast..i think the higher frequencies are not undervolted.thanks for the kernel..it would be better if cm support is added..i have found many tutorials for app building..but never found some for kernel building..can u help me with some online stuff.??
edit:-headphones donot work with stock rom..music only work with speakers.
Hmmm . . . 1.248GHZ Frequency? . . . I hope this freq. will dont burn out our phones? . . . i think overclock over 1 GHz it's only for phone suiciders xD btw good work :good: i'll try this kernel later i have a suggesstion . . . can you add OC 1.024 GHz?

I dont think overclock is true....its just false values of lower frequency like 936mhz is 624mhz and 1.24ghz is 832mhz.....it is just a placebo effect......many advanced devs in galaxy y thread have tried to overclock our cpu but the result is non prodictive.....i think we need views of senior dev on this matter......

Do I need to flash Rafael's modules?

Thats what i am trying to say.....merruk tried to overclock and at first thought that it worked but further examination showed it doesnt work and merruk then confirmed that overclock didnt work....its just a placebo effect....why dont you search his thread in galaxy y forum......same thing happend with rafauel's kernel......you can even contact hell_lock regarding this,he will tell you more about this technically......
So for now i still believe overclock is not true for our device at present.....

Yes it's true I just installed SetCPU and none of the frequencies 416 936 1248 are shown.I tried adding 1500 and the is stable because its always running on 832mhz.
But I didn't understand why 416mhz didn't work did I messed sth ?
hi everyone
to my knowledge, the frequencies are selected by register, According to what we said at the time Rafael in his forum.
The only possibility was to examine some new devices with the chip bcm21553 having frequencies above 1Ghz
Not answer how i know that, i only readed in the rafael kernel section
have a nice day :victory:

Overclock Kernel for XXLSZ

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a kernel to overclock my n7000 with XXLSZ JB.
Is there one available at the moment?Which one do you think is the best for this?
I tryed to download Hydracore but the link in the original thread is expired.
Thanks in advance!
Use an app called tegrak

Will it overclock without an OC kernel?
yes it works on Philz kernel
i tried tegrak and my note restart after few quadrant test in a row at 1.6 gzh oc in free version with stock mv value

its called instability.
some CPU cant handle that high frequency..
Recognized Distributorâ„¢
mine is on 1.6 OC and never had this issue. i have not changed the voltages though..

There are 3 groups of chips, some are better some worse some average for oc. Search old treads about hydracore.

Overclocking

I want to overclock my N7000's CPU and GPU. Please guide me how to do it safely. :cyclops:
N7000 Intl
Kernel: PhilZ cwm6 v5.06.1 with CWM 6.0.3.2 based recovery
ROM: SlimBean 4.3 (Official Build 2.2-1745)
Your kernel has to allow you to do that and you have to use a program like cpu master, or You can search for overclocking in the settings.

So, what kernel allows you to do that?

The only way to overclock the n7000 worth mentioning
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tegrak.overclock.ultimate&hl=en
For gaming, i recommend:
Also, depending on how you use the phone you might want to underclock(and/or undervolt) the cpu (to avoid thermal throttle) and overclock the gpu (400 mhz works great on my phone, compared to stock 260)
For browsing the web and stuff like that:
consider overclocking the cpu to 1500-1600 (even 1650 has proven possible on my phone.)
try NX kernel (only for 4.2.2) or speedmod kernel.
for me samsung latest update is better for gaming because it has updated driver for mali (and you can use Titanium backup to freeze samsung's unwanted apps)

I am on asylum rum.
However, on this ROM, my GPU does not scale properly. So for gaming its not great.
NX kernel is great for gaming, unfortunately it's a bit dated.
In my opinion cm 4.3-based Roms work well.
But , changing ROM does not have as big an effect compared to overclocking the GPU.
