Hi jaynjolie
Enter here search the download page and download UPK 3.7
inside that zip file you will find BlackJack then follow the instruccions to root your phone, it's really easy

Afaik blackjack doesn't work on GB firmware
FDN

do it work or not please? can someone verify this phone and be rooted and still work with koodo Canada provider? thank you

fw version doesn't matter, and blackjack won't work. you have to flash binary files with smartflash. later, you can easily update your apn config file with this. but before all, be sure that you've tried all known methodds correctly (superoneclick, unlockroot, esteem...)

Apn for koodo
Apn = sp.koodo.com
Proxy = 74.49.0.18
Port = 80
I have the koodo fw in bin/fls format with cwm already injected so you'd just have to use smartflash to get it on your phone, then reboot into recovery and flash superuser to gain root access. Let me know or try the cwm inject method yourself. You can get the koodo branded fw at http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=1

sure would love to have that firmware ..would you provide the link or you can pm me if you don't prefer to upload it ? and do i need to enter the apn myself or is it not needed on your firmware? thanks

smartflash will erase everything, so backup all saveable things. CWM will let you to do backups after having flashed. A specific branded fw is not necessary, unless if it's your aim. this way you'll avoid additional apps included by the operator, but they're also downloadable on store maybe ?

erasing eveverything isnt a big deal ..my phone is a week old and only a few contacts to add ...im not concerned about that... i just want to install the best firmware compatable with my device with the cwm already added so i can flash it with smartflash ..so it is easier for me ...im very new to phone modification ..but im not bad with computers...what FW is recommended .....thanks for your responses

i see the v20o patched says deu ..will that still work with a canadIAN PROVIDER and its injected with touch my phone is p970g
?thanks for your help

no problem, it's only the default language of the fw. it should detect your network's language and switch automatically at first boot when the wizard is launched. if not, just change it in settings.

you need to update and edit the update.zip for rooting
to include your new model

I just tried to edit the update.zip more specific the updater-script and created the update.zip again with an update.zip manger that i found on the forum. But i get an installation aborted error in recovery mode. I think my phone is branded or had one of those root protected firmwares. In the post you added they talked about reflashing to a recognized rooted firmware, but i dont know because my model is different
Any advice?

[Q] Help - How to root Samsung Note KL3 (Singapore Starhub)

Hi there
Yes I know there are articles about this (damn long articles with strange terms). And I have read through a lot posts about how to root Samsung Galaxy Note - there seems to be 1001 ways to do it but none of them worked on my model KL3 (purchased from Starhub in Singapore)
-> Tried one-click root method - doesnt work anymore for KL3
-> Tried odin method, can't find the place to download the revised ROM (just wondering why will the author still post the URL that is invalid?)
So please anyone out there, if you have done any successful root on KL3, please let me know how you did it.
I am willing to pay you some $$ to get the no-nonsense answer - I have wasted 1 day digging around and I don't want to waste more time.

First downgrade your firmware, then Root it. after applying Root, you can back to Singapore KL3 or watever new ROM you desire, by using CWM or Mobile Odin
Hi sorry to hijack yr thread OP,but i am also from Singapore.i bought a set from singtel.
my firmware are as follow:
PDA:N7000DXKL3
PHONE:N7000DXKL2
CSC:N7000OLBKL2
Baseband:N7000DXKL2
Kernel:2.6.35.7-N7000DXKL3-CL825081 [email protected]#2
i am confused on which one to look at as both pda and phone has different KL version..so which one should i be looking at for rooting purposes and can my current fw be rooted directly?
Look at kernel version. You are on KL3.
Follow dr.ketan's post above.
thanks for replies.
what puzzles me is that,i read dr.ketan's pdf guide and found that N7000DXKL3 is direct rootable.have u tried and it failed?

Actually xxkl3 was released early that was direct rootable, but some newer version released under kl3 are not rootable
Actuallt kl* are non rootable, except some early kl3. So you shud try to root it directly, if not success you should consider it as non rootable.

[Q] Root gingerbread 2.3.4 v20i

Hello,
I did a factory (provider endorsed) update to 2.3.4 v20i and I cannot seem to root the phone. I have read the noob article for optimus black and tried:
- gingerbreak
- unlockroot
- superoneclick
So basically, with the exploits being closed off in the recent versions, there is no simple way to root this version?
Regards,
Len
If you want to keep your current v20i then there is no already made root method but you can inject cwm using dd on linux . But if you just want to install a custom rom , here is a root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392

Like the OP, I did the official LG update to 2.3.4 (v20i) and tried to use the method in the above link to root it and install a custom ROM. It didn't work because the Smartflash tool started the process and then stopped, saying 'Timeout error'. I searched the forums for a solution but no one else seemed to have the problem. I wasn't clear on why this was...maybe because they all rooted while on Froyo, or on a different V20 version.
Any help would be appreciated.
OK, I will reply to my own post as I ended up solving the problem
First, I am using a LG P970g on Canadian carrier Telus. It is known as the Optimus Black Skype Edition.
First, I downgraded my stock 2.3.4 ROM to a Froyo build (V10A EEU XXX) using SmartFlashTool. The ROM is in the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803
The previous .bin and .fls files I used were from a more recent ROM (March 2012) while the one in the above link is May 2011. Using this older one allowed me to downgrade using SFT without problems.
I then rooted using Gingerbreak, and used ROM Manager app from the app store to install CWM. Rebooted into CWM and installed the custom ROM I wanted from my SD Card.
Took me a long time to figure this out, but I did it. Very pleased.
Check my noob how to, there is a way, of how to root EVERY ROM in the 3rd post.

I have a question about that post. It seem to require that the firmware in the phone be dumped out in kdz format (which LG Extract is mentioned to work on). There was some mention in some posts that that could be done using LG-Utils. The only LG Utils I can find is LG-Utils-0.4.2.zip but it seems to be for KP500 (KP500-Utils-EN.exe) and KS360 (KS360-Utils-EN.exe). Is this the right LG Utils? If so which exe is to be used and what command and parameters needs to be entered to get the kdz file to be used with procedure you mentioned?
Thanks,
Len
Read the guide, there is even a link to that utility and you simply need to download your firmware in kdz format, from lg or any other server

Yes, I read that post and the guide and that entire thread. The reason that I found your suggested method attractive was because you mentioned:
"To flash and actually root the SW, you need to follow THIS guide, from Step 2 on, and it will be perfectly rooted and you can be sure, that noone patched anything else in your software, cause you made it on your own."
The post and thread suggests to download the kdz file from lg-phone-firmware.com where the domain is registered to some guy named Vitiello Luigi
in France. I guess the stuff from this site is safe but it is less reassuring than getting it directly off my phone.
Len
I downloaded the kdz file for my firmware from lg-phone-firmware.com and was able to go through the process of getting a rooted version on the phone fine. The only brief head scratching moment was with the clock work mod reboot recovery menu system where when you invoke the commands which require confirmation (like installing superuser.zip) where the confirmation options show a bunch of 'No's and you have to scroll down to get to the one entry that says 'Yes'.
Len
No one's replying to my thread anymore and a post was deleted last week for some reason.. Anyway, I got my phone rooted too, same method, but had no network access, 3g or phone service, did you overcome that at all?

well I'm about to try rooting with some method or other. I too have the 20i telus ROM. I'm a tad perplexed. I've rooted many devices and for this one it seems rather convoluted. ...a bit daunting to say the least. In any event will try the suggested method in this thread and will report with results. This device is for the moment my main daiLy so if I lose network I'll be back to an old flip phone, and you don't need me to say how awful that would be... LOL

Thanks!. I used SFT on another LG, was easy as pie.
So, SFT will flash whatever you feed it to the device and wipe it (it's a nandroid)? BUT can flash ROMs only if they are in proper bin/fls format?
If so that makes sense. Little confused by all the options/non-options for rooting v20i/2.3.4, and I don't care to keep what version I have to get root. I just want to be able to use custom ROMs on my black.
Sorry for all the questions - I don't fully understand the LG roms/system yet.

[Q] Easier way to root and install CWM for LG black

Hi guys
I recently brought a 2nd hand LG black.
This rom is totally stock, to be precise, it is a Hong Kong version v20
Since I want to improve the battery life and have a more defined rom.
I would like to root and install CWM for my LG black.
Up to now, I have downloaded a few kdz from the subforum.
I have little experience before with LG phone, Last one i played around was LG P500. I remember last time i could easily root the phone by super1click, and then install rom manager from play store.
And from there (play store) i install CWM recovery.
I would like to find the confirmation from you guys that
Can i go for the same path again, super1click>rom manager>CWM recovery??
Thx in advance!!
Read my how to and find all you neeed

I realised the way you suggest to install CWM as exactly as mine.
But you only suggest to use SOC to root for 2.2 devices
Is there any reasons I should not root a 2.3 by SOC?
Actually SOC is always the most comfortable way to root for me
Hope you can share some

Read post 3 about how to do it yourself and follow the youtube video guide mentioned there. It's really easy and safe.
To me:
Easiest
- Smartflashtool flash v10a
- Use mass storage for phone
- Download Gingerbreak.apk
- Transfer to phone mass storage
- Install app
- Root
- Open Play Store
- Download ROM Manager
-Flash CWM
Voila
Easiest but slowest

Hmm, complicated. Why not:
- Smartflashtool flash v20n that has CWM inside. This is the procedure.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23788913&postcount=170.You only need the V20n,0,s (any of them) in fls/bin format.
- Flash Superuser.zip in CWM
- Done.
thx everyone
finally i got it!!
now using zeus v7, very cool rom!
But one last question, can i use the same smartflash with patched .bin method to revery to stock if i mess up something.
for example i am on cm9 and i wanna go back to GB, or i have to repartition my phone just like other brands like samsung.

Yes, you can. It is also useful for warranty (as root is voiding your warranty).

[MOD] SIM UNLOCK for 4.3

I figured I would post this in a new thread so those who have abandoned hope will see it lol. The attached zip contains a HtcOMADM_SPCS from the 4.3 update with modified code and files to allow access to the API menu, and not cause vDM client crashes. I do not have a GSM sim yet, so I can't test to see if it actually unlocks the sim.
ONLY FOR DEODEXED ROMS
Flash in recovery and follow the steps here.
I see this has been thanked several times now...can anyone confirm it works?
i just have received my htc one ! I unlock & root it, and i'll try. Maybe tomorrow or next weekend
edit : so i've htcdev unlocked, installed twrp, and i'm installing insertcoin with modified files from the other subject just to see if it works, and if not i will try with your apks
It works with your apk !!! Thanks !! 3g speed in France with bad esn Sprint HTC one = working
Ive flashed your zip ,and i ran the app
worked, thanks

thanks for the quick reply man, but i already managed to sim unlock it using this ROM: (Stock with goodies)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301672
and afterward flashed this file (HtcOMADM_SPCS.zip) through recovery .
thank you all!!!
Quick question, what gsm networks does this work on in the states. Only comments I've read are that gsm works outside of the states and not much luck here

Worked perfectly to unlock my HTC One,
tested with a Mexican sim (Telcel) and it worked.
Thank you.
Tried it on my Sprint running Viper One 3.5
At first, the Simunlock helper app didn't want to run because it claimed I wasn't running a Sense ROM, but ViperOne IS a sense rom.
I clicked on something else and tried to open the log file but it wasn't there, and when I pressed the back button, viola, it showed me the main screen, with Root, Sense, and Sprint all verified and green. It opened the hidden menu system, and I was able to press sim lock at the bottom of the list and it appeared to work. I haven't got a SIM card to try though, so I'll have to update this post later with a verified yes or no.

What have you tried??
Anyway, these are the steps I followed.
1.- Unlock bootloader (I did it with the htc dev account).
2.- Install custom recovery (I used TWRP).
3.- Install SuperSU (Be sure to have the latest version, it won't work otherwise).
4.- Flash the custom ROM "Stock with goodies" (It is referenced in the first posts of this thread).
5.- Flash the file provided in the first post of this thread.
6.- Unlock SIM via terminal emulator (The steps for this are also referenced in the first post).

Exactly which Custom Rom did you used for your HTC ONE?
If also could you please send me the apn data from telcel that worked for you? I'm trying to help a girlfriend here any help will be appreciated.
This is my first time attempting this so I apologize for my newbness. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone. I loved the OP's zip file to the internal storeage of the phone, we to recovery and chose the install option in TWRP. Then I chose the zip file I placed on the internal storage and swipped to flash. It says sucessful but when the vDM client crashes every time still. Am I doing something wrong? The phone is stock rom on 4.3.
