No, bootloader unlocking does not sim-unlock your phone. It checks for the sim lock certificate as if your phone has been sim-unlocked by certain 3rd party software it will cause changes to your phone that ultimately result in bootloader-unlocking preventing connection to any phone network.

What about setools will this work

Quick Question

Hey guys, I just got the HTC Raider here in Canada on Rogers. I wanna know do I have to unlock the bootloader in order to root? Or is there a way to root without unlocking bootloader?
Thanks to everyone and anyone who can advise
Not at the moment, too root you have to flash a .zip through recovery so you will need to unlock your bootloader in order to gain root.
Hey Mr Patchy Patch, remember you from the X10 days.

The HTC Vivid (AT&T) option should work. Haven't heard any problems with any Bell users unlocking through HTC dev and selecting HTC Vivid.

If I try that can it brick my phone?

Nope, if the Unlock code is unsupported then it will tell you and won't allow you to continue.

I have a raider and I had no issue unlocking. From what I heard if we do get s-off it should be effected by us doing the HTC unlock.

[Q] [q] unlocking bootloader for xperia x8/w8 11w30

HI, I am using W8 Walkman 11W30 and wanted to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER. I Iooked out many guides for how to unlock my bootloader and all say that 11W29+ cannot do it.
I rooted my phone and installed CM7 rom GingerDX V030 seamlessly having a stock kernel using CWM.
When I dial *#*#7378423#*#* it does nothing and the number vanishes instantly when i dial the last letter "*"
When i bought my phone it did'nt have a SIM lock.
I am confused if my phone's bootloader is locked or unlocked.
One more thing....when i use s1tool (by the_laser) and press IDENTIFY button it recognise my device....and says SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE.
Is it possible to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER for my W8 Walkman 11W30?

you should have read through the stickies first. it's probably a hard brick. but try to charge it for a few minutes and see if it boots or shows any signs of life. if not, sorry.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Oh.i got brick my phone.
Thanks anyway.

You cant get the **LOCKED** status back. you can only get **relocked** state which i think puts your warranty back in action.
Use ADB and type this command "fastboot oem lock" (Without "s)
Keep in mind that re-locking your bootloader with a custom rom installed will give you a **security warning!** that will lock your phone into bootloader and not reboot(read: make unusable ) and remain that way until you run an ruu that is your current firmware or newer. (Source - internet google search)
Root

Unlocking bootloader?

I have noticed that s-off could be coming soon. But I've got itchy fingers and want to unlock my one
If I unlock the bootloader via HTC dev and s-off becomes available can I change the unlocked to locked again? So this doesn't affect any warranty?

Hi
greetings.
yes that is possible you can revert back to LOCKED. but after you achieve S-OFF
That's good. Had the one x before and unlocked the bootloader n never had any warranty problems but just wanted to be sure if something was to go wrong with this phone I could hide the unlocked
Thanks for clearing that up

you can try using Revone to get your bootloader unlocked but I'm not sure if your hboot will work. >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
Can I ask you I cannot see a folder called local in data folder
Is it ok
Shud I go ahead with revone
Are there any chance of bricking device
