[Q] Phone only boots into CWM and can't get it to boot the ROM. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get my phone to boot into the ROM, it only boots into CWM every time. Even if I restore my Nandroid backup I have it still won't boot into anything but CWM. .
Any ideas?

what rom are you trying to flash?

I was on MIUI Mintberry but then I tried flashing DMORE3.3 and it just messed up. Was not paying attention to what I was doing, stupidly enough.
But I wouldn't mind just getting back into my MIUI MB ROM and then I'll actually flash DMORE properly this time.

It was made by Nitr8, just a stripped down GB based on his insanity ROM

Very nice ROM! So, there's no chance I could now just restore to my MIUI Nandroid backup?

I really couldn't tell you, not familiar with miui, but you can always try,

I have the same issue here. I was running CM9 nightly and everything was working great for weeks. Then my android core process crashed and I decided to reboot the phone, but it got stuck and kept boot looping, i.e. not even making it to the CM9 boot animation and not allowing me to get a logcat.
I used ODIN to flash FixRecovery.tar.md5 and that allowed me to get into CWM recovery. I then cleared Dalvik cache, re-flashed CM9, rebooted but the phone always boots into CWM and never gets to the ROM. I even tried flashing Semaphore kernel in ODIN and re-flashed CM9 several times but to no avail.
My phone just keeps booting into CWM! Is there something I can do to fix this without having to restore to Gingerbread and lose all of my settings and data?

You can go back to the Original Firmware: https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-flashing-to-original-rom.46/
Then you may root: https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...-i9000-rooting-gt-i9000-2-3-3-india-ddjv9.47/

I had same problem with a galaxy s plus. I've installed the teamwin recovery and with that i flashed the broodrom. After that i got in a bootloop/recoveryloop.. The fix for that was just flashing the bootloader with odin So there was no need to reflash whole rom

[Q] Bootloop after flashing ROM with CWM and I don't understand why

Hi
I'm having a problem with the i9000
this is how the phone was before:
rooted stock firmware (2.3.3) with Galaxian Kernel (used ODIN to install that)
then I downloaded ROM Manager and used that to flash the latest CWM
next: rebooted to recovery, made a nandroid backup and flashed AOKP milestone 4 and GAPPS
when I rebooted it got into bootloop: boot logo, cyanogenmod logo, black screen with white text and reboot
then I tried to restore the nandroid backup (can still get into CWM)
now it's stuck at Loading kernel...
I can still get into CWM. Can somebody tell me what I did wrong and how I should fix this?
Boot to cwm, FLASH kernel with ICS support like - Semaphore. Reflash ROM, if still in boot loop flash kernel again ;-). It should work ;-)

Did that, but instead of booting the ROM it immediately boots to recovery. Flashed the kernel with ODIN and the ROM with CWM
Flash the kernel via CWM, the semaphore!! not the galaxian, the galaxian is for 2.3.3!

yes, working with the semaphore now
but it should be flashed with CWM, not ODIN?
Okey, try to flash the ROM again, than again the kernel ;-) Everything via CWM, i think ODIN is bit risky to use, cause of possible USB fail ;-) (sorry for slover responses i don't have verified account )

You are welcome buddy, remmeber if you have access to CWM don't use odin ;-)
Oh and BTW i hope, that you did not forget to wipe - data, cache and dalvik cache?

No no, I know about that This is not my phone. I have a Nexus S, Asus Slider and X10 Mini Pro, I flashed over 100 ROMs and kernels
it was just the first one from Samsung
ahh right, hell of a job to flash a different phone than yours. (yestarday was flashing my GFs x10i, spend the whole f**** day doing it.... and still she gets like 5 WLODS per day...)

[Q] Boot screen loop and black screen

Hi guys, pretty urgent help needed here.
I'm on holiday at the moment so desperately need my phone to do anything and to contact my friends on the island at another hotel!!
I was using it as usual this morning, and then the next time I tried to turn it on I get nothing. So I pulled the battery and upon reset I get the boot animation (Rocket rom 23) and then a black screen until the battery is pulled.
I still had the zip file on the internal sd so I installed it through recovery. No success.
I've tried wiping the data and the system and installing onto a blank phone but still no success.
Starting to panic a little here, any help would be greatly appreciated.I have wifi access and a netbook if that helps?
Andy
Did you make a GB backup?
I know it's not possible to revert to your old GB backup when using any ICS ROM but I was able to restore my stock GB backup through CWM while using RocketROM (took me five tries though).. Try it, nothing bad will happen.
If you don't wanna try and can download some files then I recommend you to just put your phone in download mode and flash a stock rootable firmware through PC Odin.

@Sujal. Rocket rom v23 is not ICS. So he is still on GB rom and backup can be restored if he had created it.

[Q] Please help! My note keeps rebooting after i flashed Rocket Ics Rom v1.

I am very new to rooting and all the stuffs. However i decided to root my phone following a youtube video tutorial made by this guy called Ashwin on XDA. I followed all the instructions carefully and rooting was successful. Then i proceeded to install CWM recovery following another youtube tutorial made by the same guy and it was successfully installed. Afterwards i flashed RocketIcs rom v1 using the CWM recovery mode and it says the installation was successful...
however, after the installation i realized that my note would keep rebooting and rebooting after 30 secs or so. i am really scared now because i am really a noob in this field and i am at a lost what to do. I will really appreciate if anyone can help ;(

i think i did. in the tutorial video i followed, i downloaded the abyss kernel 4.2 as directed and flashed it with mobile odin. Then i rebooted into CWM recovery mode and flashed the rocket ics rom v1. then started the bootloop.
to give you further details, my rooted note has kernel version N7000DXLC2 before i flashed the rocket ICS rom. please help i am really thankful!
Im new here too but I think I may know what the err is.
Do you have Titanium-backup App, Clockworkmod Recovery App &/or Nandroids on your Note? If not once this thing gets fixed I recommend you do some homework so that you don't lose everything next time.
Good News is it isn't Fully Bricked (I think)... If it was bricked than it wouldn't even boot at all. Better News is... I have been doing a lot of research - So this might work. It sounds to me that you are in a Boot loop.
In that event...

Stock firmware problem after Cyanogenmod

A friend of mine suggested that I try Cyanogenmod, so I decided to flash my Galaxy Mini. The first problem was the bootloop, and no matter how many times I wiped the phone, it was always stuck at the Android text. So I decided to try the Honeycomb mod. Same happened. So I decided to flash it with Android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com. At last, it started working. However, Google Play still sees every application as "installed" (but of course they aren't), and when I try to delete from GP, nothing happens. After trying to install other applications, I realized that I cannot install anything from the market. Any idea how I could solve this problem? I would be very grateful.

Yes I did. I used CWM 5.0.2.6. The funny part is that after being turned off 3 times, Google Play started working But if there's a solution to the bootloop problem I would love to hear it. I searched this forum and the internet and nothing, even though I followed a cyanogenmod wiki's guide.
did you wipe two times before and after flashing cyanogenmod rom
How old is your sd card? because same happened to me. I needed to format my sd card.

Anyway, tour problem is the CWM you used, didnt u see the DONT USE sign in the version 5.0.2.6 thread? 5.0.2.8 would avoided those errors in flashing custom ROMs

No, I didn't see the sign, and to be honest, I didn't even know that there was a 5.0.2.8 version. Do you think it would work with that?

I'm sure it works. 5.0.2.6 had some issues as said in the thread, but 5.0.2.8 or 4.0.0.5 works fine. Try it

So I downloaded the new recovery, flashed it via Odin, and now nothing works. When I enter recovery it says that it can't mount /cache/log and /cache/recovery (I think it says these two). I looked around and found that it could be stuck in a bootloop, but luckily Android loads. However, I can't root my phone due to several errors, so I can't install Cyanogen mod. I think I'll give up now But thanks for all the help!

Thanks very much Here is what I did step by step:
I returned to the stock recovery by installing the stock firmware. I rooted the phone with stock recovery. Then I installed CWM recovery 5.2.0.8, but I still get the same error in CWM: it can't mount a few things. I still tried installing Cyanogen without wiping, and of course it's stuck at the boot screen with the Android text (I had a feeling that it wouldn't work if the recovery is not fully operational, so I did not want to lose every contact for nothing again). I read that this problem can be solved by formatting the SDCard, so I tried formatting it with PC and the phone also, but nothing. So now I'm back to the stock firmware and recovery with my phone rooted and no idea how to solve any of the problems.

This was just a trial run due to the new CWM recovery. If you read back, I already wrote that I tried wiping both data and cache before and after flashing Cyanogen mod. This "mounting" problem only came up with the new CWM recovery, 5.2.0.8.
The basic Google Apps were all there, since I used a rom from sammobile.com, downloaded programs like poweramp were the ones that did not work.

Flashing CM9 From Stock i9000

Hi
After using CM9 for some time, I decided to upgrade to the new stable release. I am not sure what happened, but the flash was unsuccessful. Using ODIN I restored my phone back to stock.
When I try to install CM9 I now end up in a recovery loop, where the phone will only boot into recovery.
What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this?
Many thanks

Yes I did, using the CWM that comes with the speedmod kernel. The CWM that the phone boots to after this, however, is an updated one, I assume the one that comes with CM9. From here I have tried reflashing CM9 but still have the recovery bootloop
Harry

Hey
Remove the battery...put it back after atleast 10 sec..then boot into recovery using 3 Button Combo...then flash the rom again...
This time it'll take a few min..then it'll re-boot itself..
Enjoy..
Got it all working perfectly now, thank you so much
