[Q] Reenable 4g after disabling it? - Motorola Droid Bionic

I am running the AOKP-targa-milestone-4 mod of ICS and i set my phone mode to just cdma because data kept dropping. Now 3g and wifi are completely stable and i would like to change the mode back to cdma/lte but my bionic wont let me, i press on the cdma/lte mode and it reverts back to just cdma. Any i can do to re enable 4g?

Go to the dialer, enter *#*#4636*#*# then tap "Phone Information" and then under "Set Preferred Network Type" and you should be able to find an option that looks like either
1. CDMA/LTE Auto (PRL)
2. GSM/CDMA Auto (PRL)

Stuck on GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) mode

i9000m. still on stock rom, UGJG9
went and used the "*#*#4636#*#*" command
went into Phone Information
> Set preferred network type:
> Chose WCDMA only
> Pressed back touchpad to exit out of "phone info" menu
> Went back in to see it on GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
Still in the Phone info menu
looked at network type: UMTS
the original intent was to get the handset to stay on 2G to conserve power
WCDMA only means that your Phone will only use UMTS...?
Same here on the vibrant. Seem to be a problem on all galaxy phones
Don't press "back", after you make the change press "Home" and the change will be saved.
I just verified this on my captivate flipping back and forth between "WCDMA preferred" and "GSM/CDMA auto"

Why don't you try other settings? Such as gsm auto prl and wcdma only? Oh and did you restart your phone after??
When I flashed my phone with Bell's 3 button firmware I got the same issue. Now I'm back with my aussie stock firmware and all is well.
Try switching the rom.

Hey to get WCDMA only you can just go to Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile Networks. It should be changed to WCDMA only now if you go back to testing .
I, however, would like to change to WCDMA preferred in testing, but I'm having the same problem as it just keeps switching back to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)... Does anyone know a fix for this?

turn off tmo hsdpa to 3g only

Not sure if it was answered in this subforum
Using cm6
I get better average speeds on my g1 on 3g over my n1 on hsdpa
Is there a way i can disable hsdpa on my n1 to use 3g only?
As far as I know, HSDPA is 3G. Just a different kind of 3G. The G1 uses UMTS.
I don't know if you can just pick which 3G it uses, but I've never seen mine using UMTS.
(It wont let me post a link, but if you google 'hsdpa' it should better explain the differences..
If you want 3G only, go into the phone dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*, then select "phone information" and scroll down to the "Set preferred network type" box and select "WCDMA only"

Modify the build.prop line ro.ril.hsxpa and set it to a value of 0. This turns it to only UMTS.

[q] tried to only use 2g, now can't go back to 3g

Hi all,
a little while ago, i learned how to use only 2g,
how i did it was:
settings -> wireless network -> mobile networks -> network mode -> and then chose gsm only.
it was good because it only used 2g. however, now i went back to the previous option,
GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) but it still only uses 2g.
I don't know if this is relevant, but i'm using a i9000m, but unlocked on rogers...
thanks in advance!
also currently using.. darky's gingerbread rom is that makes a difference?
i've also played around with quick settings before, however, i've double checked my apn settings and they seem fine...
anyone? please help :S
Try this, go to dialer and input *#*#4636#*#* then choose phone info, select wcdma prefered in the dropdown list, then press menu and select band. After you do this, go to settings and turn airllane mode on, then off and wait, you should have 3g back.

Open your dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* the testing menu should open.
Select Device info.
Now scroll down to where it says "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)".
Now scroll up to where it says "WCDMA preferred" and select it. Your network should now say HSPA:11.
Don't switch to "LTE only" as voice and text wont work since LTE is data only, at least until At&t deploys VoLTE.
The note 3 should retain your selection until you reboot. This also work on the Note 2.

That no longer works on AT&T Samsung devices made after the S3 and onward. The disabled that dial code to make their network more uniform and controlled.

Force to use Evdo 3g?

I know the *#*#4636#*#* trick. So I selected 'Evdo Only' in 'Set preferred network type' menu from dialing *#*#4636#*#*. However, the change didn't stay after a reboot. The preferred network type went back to 'CDMA auto (PRL)' after rebooting. Is there a way for the phone to remember the change after reboot? Or I have to flash a customized PRL? Thanks
