I got the same problem of freezing screen, and I am going to LG shop to let them check my phone, but I already root it, including install ROM 2.3
So that my phone is out of warranty. that's why I need to unroot it and reinstall the rom back to official rom.
Where can I get the official rom, any suggestion, please tell me
ps. the ROM I said means ROM 2.2 Froyo, released by LG, not Firmware
I have tried to surf for more information, and found many comments from Rusty!
He said the CM7 rom can fix this...

Please tell me more about this information, thoroughly, I'm just a newbie using android (how to load it, how to install it for now, and if it not good and I would like to change back to the official rom)

Hey guys, i dont know if i posted in the right place but here it goes......
Ok so i jus got the lg optimus black p970 and first thing was first to upgrade as told by t-mobile i could upgrade to 2.3.....
Ok so i use the lg updating software on pc and it says i was being updated from 1.6 -2.1 although in (about phone) it says 2.2.2 bfore and after the s/w upgrade :s
So to cut it short i want to upgrade to 2.3 and i hear i need custom rom and root (only ever used super one click for galaxy tab) meaning lack of exp rooting lg....
will the gingerbreak root work for the lg thats not on 2.3 and is there a solid walkthrough about that you guys can link me too so i can fully understand what i am doing......what i have found doesnt explain much and i dare not risk it....

If you want to root your LG P970 than u should use gingerbreak. There is a really nice topic made by Noejn explaining how to do it in the android development section of Black forum. There are no custom rom's yet but I think that they will appear in a short period.

Gingerbread update still hasn't been released by LG for the Optimus Black. What the T-mobile rep might have meant is that the LG Optimus Black is upgradeable to 2.3, which it is. It's just that the Android 2.3 update still isn't available yet for the OB.
Once custom ROMs are made based on AOSP 2.3 or CyanogenMod, then you can have Gingerbread for your OB.

I followed all the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236 and at the last but one step i think i'm stuck , the lg mobile support tool appears and i cant update the phone , it says "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update." So i cant update , i changed the country and it wont work . What should i do please tell me ? i have 2.2.2 v10b. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I hope you got, that this was a thread in O3D Optimus 3D Forum... Anyway, if you want a stock Rom, just use R&D tool (use search) and read the first post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111771 and then read my reply http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22237122&postcount=449 and you will be able to flash v20x. Being noob doesnt mean u ll get a step by step guide, so do some reading pls. If you want a custom rom, also go to first thread, download the pack, use blackjack to root or search for root v10x where x is your version and then use CWM.exe (or similar) to install CWM or do it by RomManager! Then download a custrom from Dev Section and havbe fun

U CANNOT overclock V20n! You need Nova ROM to do this, and this is only 2.2... So better think about it again Root your phone now, and then install Zeus, it is v20n, but modified, to be faster...
why not ? set cpu does not work on gb ?

I did that.. and it doesn't work. Says I'm on the latest firmware. But I'm on 2.2.2 I've been trying to update for over a week now with no success.

Come on stop blurring his mind...
If lg update tool doesn't upgrade you're phone, there must be a reason.. And baseband shouldn't be changed as it is one of the things lg tool looks at to search if upgrade is necessary.
But the best way to upgrade is to root your phone, instal clockwork mod recovery, then finally the ROM you want, even Ics 4.0.3 is available...
Just look and read threads in stickies to have info, and a guy recently made a thread in general section I think to explain how to do that.
The best deep way to learn is to search and experiment..
