In cm settings - performance raise the min frequency from 216 to 316 or 324 mhz.
Maybe this will help you.

Well if you are using the oficial CM7.2 Stable, unfortunatly you cannot edit the CPU governors nor u can OC/UV.
Maybe reinstall the CM7.2 Stable with full wipe (dalvik included) don't forget BACKUP before anything else

Indeed you are right! didn't thought about Antutu!!
Neither way i would try to reflash....
that issue is not normal, if you like good batery performances like me than increasing minimum CPU frequencys is not the way to go....just sayin'

thx for all reply
I try a full wipe with wipe dalvik, reflash the cm and set the min cpu speed to 456 but no luck... my P990 still sleep of dead...

I'm not using cm7 anymore but are you sure?
If I remember correctly then it was possible to raise values. It's just not possible to overclock with the default kernel.
@op: try the Etana 2.6 kernel from vadonka. Maybe it will work better on your phone, worth a try.
If it's still problematic you could try to give each mhz step +25mV.

I can't find the old ETaNa 2.6 kernel so I flash the latest ETaNa v3.0.35 OTF-OC-1504MHz kernel with CM7.2 but my P990 still sleep of dead.
after the try of flash CM7.2, I try to flash the MIUI 2.4.6 (kernel 2.6.32-45), it work and no sleep of dead and than I flash the ETaNa v.3.0.35 kernel, it sleep of dead again......
anyway, Many Thanks of all help on me. I think my P990 need to stick on MIUI and wait for CM9 with video acceleration ( i need PPSteam )
updated: I flashed this two rom "[ROM] Rebuild of V20S Gingerbread Update + Tweak Pack V1.1" (kernel 2.6.32) and "[ROM][CM9][JUN14-Build78] Dominationand", the P990 sleep of dead, only MIUI not sleep of dead on my device.... what MIUI do something on my P990?.... so funny...

It's here: http://etana.donka.hu/?dir=kernel/2.6.32.y
Vadonka has the 2.6 kernel in the third post of his thread.
I would recommend the 1204021107-ETaNa_LOC_LITE_OTF.zip one.
As I said a +25mV could help you, if the bsods are voltage related.

i flash the 1204021107-ETaNa_LOC_LITE_OTF.zip and try to add the voltage but the antutu just let me -25mV ( can't +25mV)... anyway, same result, my P990 still sleep of dead :silly:
after clean install the MIUI, it run so fast, so i will stik with MIUI and wait the official LG android 4.0 release ( maybe next next next ... years )
Many Thanks

Hi,
I'm coming from MCR fr17 Fear Kill edition 10.. it is using the 2.6.32.8 kernel.
My questions are as per below (Sorry I'm new to android devices and trying my best to learn):
a) When flashing a new kernel, I just put it in my SD card and flash it in recovery correct? Or do I need to perform a wipe before doing so? Need to clear any cache etc?
b) For those that have tested this kernel, care to upload the stable voltage for 1000 mhz, 1200mhz and 1300mhz?
c) What if I undervolted it so much that it isnt a stable voltage? Will my phone be a brick?
Thanks to all that take the time to guide a noob like me.

In Pimp my CPU, use the stress test to see if its stable. Use the settings without saving it so you dont boot with those settings. But just to make sure, make a backup of the rom if absolute everything f*cks up.

Currently I cant even run a CPU Stress Test. When I do, the application will be forced closed.
Do take note that I havent flashed in this new kernel yet.. Using 2.6.32.8 atm
I flashed this Kernel with Stock ROM, but I found that my existing Pimp my CPU not work anymore. Please suggest use with version is fine, Thanks.
Same, this kernel doesn't support PimpCPU I believe. Nevertheless, it's the most stable kernel that I've tried so far...
What advantages are their of converting to ext4? Looking for a good kernel current running modaco fr17 will this be ok?

Sorry if it is a noobish question but wat advantage does this bring over stock kernel?

This kernel provides ext4 support. And a small fix I believe. So the advantage is a general speed improvement with phone usage.
Guys, my O2X just got updated (via LG PC Suite) to v10d. I already rooted it, but can anyone confirm if this kernel still works with it?

[Q] Need help about installing custom kernel on CM 7 - Vadonka's KANG

Hi guys,
Currently i just rooted my phone and successfully install CM7 KANG by Koboltz (sorry if i spell it wrong ) ..many thanks bro for the KANGin... It really smooth and trouble free from my experience using it for 2 weeks now
Now I really want to take my O2X to the next level by try to install custom kernel on it .. and my choice is Vadonka's kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1427646
However i always failed to install the recent Update 2012.01.17 .. any version i tried I always got bootloop on CM7 logo...always stuck there and wont go in to the system.
The only Vadonka's kernel i managed to install successfully is LGE-KaNG_120109 its super smooth and stable but i got a bug that i cant play my PES 2012 on it -- PES always stuck on konami logo and then force close.
anybody have the same problem with me ?
Is there any way i cant play PES 2012 on that kernel (LGE-KaNG_120109).. or is there any settings that i need to change ?
And are there any way to know what causing bootloop on Vadonka's newest kernel ? -- maybe is there something i need to do to diagnostic this maybe ?
(yes i did all the clean / wipe stuff before and after installing) but still it bootloop on CM7 logo on newest kernel.
other than that Vadonka has created or KANG one of the best kernel i think for o2x -- at least that is what my friend said
but still thanks to Vadonka
Thanks in advance for any help guys
UPDATE:
I tried Vadonka's latest Update 2012.01.18 but it still give me bootloop on CM7 logo.
I did try to use init remover by Vadonka to remove init script
I did try to disable compcache in CM7 setting
I did wipe cache and dalvik
Still i'm not able to boot
Try temasek's kang (link in signature) maybe this will work.
I see, I will try temasek's KANG... been actually thinking ti change rom but still learning about this rom and kernel stuff.
Thanks for the advice

I'm running Temasek kang and it is quite good.

Temasek rules!...
I use "CherryPics" Kernel (for CM7/Kang) with it
May be a driver/hardware module that causes your phone to hang and some other versions? (these parts are very "ROM specific" or Kernel inclusions...)
Yes I did try to use Temasek's kang #50 now, but still unable to use Vadonka's latest kernel.
Well on the good side, Temasek's kang #50 is bullet fast and rock stable for me. .. and after applying androidon tweak its just like bullet covered in butter.
I must say many thanks to Temasek, AndroidON and surely CM team and every other coder.
But I still kinda curious to try Vadonka's kernel....hope better luck next time

Vadonka's kernel on 9 January is working fine, but still got several apps wont run on it .. one example is PES 2012, which always freeze and yhen fc.
I see that he is building new kernel (ETaNa).. wonder if this one might work ? I mean is it completely new? Cause I see its said that the installer will recognize something

I don't know if it is completely new, AFAIK, he only give it a new name...
Same issue here, after the jan09 version, i got a bootloop. Etena version same issue.
I would like to ask if I install custom kernel that is released by vadonka (the latest one is 30 Jan). Is there any problem if I flashed hybrid revolution v3.1 with the latest one??

I'm not sure about this but afaik vadonka made a lot of tweak along with his kernel and that might conflict with tweak in gueste rom .. please correct me if I'm wrong.
I think its better to wait kernel only installer from vadonka or you can try temasek kernel only.
I would like to try gueste 3.1 rom but maube I'll wait for it this weekend.

You can try out IronKrnl . The 32MB version has been stable for me for the last two days . And I have infact patched IronKrnl with Vadonka's init.d AIO tweaks and trying that out now . Vadonka's kernel was fast when I had it on my O2X but I experienced frequent FC's with the phone radio so I reverted back to stock CM7 kernel and patched IronKrnl . Having said that I think Vadonka's kernel is likely to be newer and more optimised if it gets stable
Always take a Nandroid backup of the existing stock & stable image before flashing a new kernel . It saves a lot of a headache . And to flash a totally different kernel I would recommend you to revert to stock and then flash the new kernel . The faster way would be to revert only the boot.img file but that might leave behind some stray settings .
also i have problem with the newest etana kernel by vadonka, it makes the cpu getting hot , and dont know why
Try to flash back prior to installing vadonka's kernel. Apparently there are some issues with his current kernel that I've experienced as well so it's better off with the stock kernel.
Currently I'm stick with Temasek kang #55 and with default kernel. Its been very stable and smooth for a week now, and u don't even have charging BSOD again since I set the screen awake while charging.
Latest Temasek kang #58 is out now, and I have yet to decide if I want to use it or use Gueste 3.1
Anyone tried gueste 3.1 from CM 7 without data wipe? ? ( only cache and dalvik wipe) cause I don't want to install all my programs from scratch. Is it even possible, since gueste 3.1 is also based on CM 7 ?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
Hi,
I've been using Gueste 3.2 hybrid revolution for a day now, and i muat admit this is the smoothest rom i ever use in my entire o2x life.
The stock lg launcher is covered with butter. I even try to install go launcher ex, and ita still very smooth like never before.
Then i say many many thanks to Mr. Temasek for his Kang efforts and Mr. Stefan for this smooth rom.
My other experience today is for the pimp my cpu app always ask for super user privilege ... I always set to allow and tick on the remember box ... but it always keep asking.
For that i maybe a noob because i don't know how to sett the proper super user... but no impact on performance whatsoever until now.
Anybody know how to use pimp my cpu ? or atleast make it not keep asking for super user privilege. ?
I'm currently using Temasek Cm 7 kernel + voodoo sound dated 7 feb 2012 .. downloaded from Temasek mediafire.
Thanks in advance

I dont have any SOD on my 2X with...

I am having difficulties finding ROM twhich is not SODing every 2-3 hours. I have tried:
[CM7][KANG][FEB25] temasek's KANG BUILD P204-69 - FINAL RELEASE
[ROM][MOD] WIUI 2.2.24 Stable (GB) v4 (ICS) b0 - MULTiLanguage
update-cm-7-20120226-NIGHTLY-p990-signed
w/ and w/o Etanas kernels.
With those ROMs I have:
after-call SOD
charging SOD
also there is "SD card not found" bug with CM7 roms/kangs.
Modaco's GR6 looks more stable. SODs are rare but with Spica's kernels it starts to behave similar to CM7.
So if you have stable 2X with no or very rare (rare = max 1 in week) SODs - please tell me - which ROM with which kernel (if any) are you using? Any other mods/settings/apps?
Thank you!

Every phone is different... but if your phone is like mine... you can install any GINGER rom based on STOCK rom. Not Cyanogen.
For example, v20q (the last version available).
You must change the baseband too. For example the 725 from v20q.
If you want to change the kernel, the R11-R from spica is great, after that, all versions have problems in some phones.
Regards!
Have you checked that is not related to one of the programs you have installed? I used to have SODs until I removed a battery saver I had installed, that is half a year ago and I haven't had any since then.
Just to be sure in the safe side you might try to use your phone for a whole week w/o any apps and see if that is the case.
BTW, currently I am using CM7 nightly build 204.
Cheers.
I'm on Temasek's kangs with various Vadonka's kernels - for quite a long time. No problms found. I cannot recall problems on other roms either (I used mainly MoDaCo ones).
How about doing the clean install, i.e. do a full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe, then install e.g. Temasek Kang #69. Just that - bare system. Then check if your phone is still unstable.
EDITED: the only app that you should install is GetRIL - to get your BB and RIL in sync. BTW, which BB are you on?
Some phones can't handle low frequecies (216MHz), you may change the lowest freq. with setCPU or an other tool like this. Maybe it helps.

Thanks for the tips guys! First ill check Temasek Kang #69 without soft and will see what happens.
I use an older Temasek with IronKernel00. About 2 weeks old install? Never flashed another Baseband, i think i am on the stock(?) 725.
Not a single SOD. But again, never had a SOD on the stock ROM from LG, even in the Froyo times. Well, had a SOC when the phone were OC'ed to 1.55
Been using Temasek's kang for a while and it is quite stable. I'm on stock kernel as well.
Since you also mentioned that your device sometimes fails to detect your SDcard, I believe it could be corrupted. Have you tried formatting it? (make a backup first).
Sent from a galaxy far, far away...
I have been using the ICS Nova HD from the very start it went aviable for download and no SoD yet.
Hi. I had the same problems as you do when I was using Juice Defender with its profiles.
A month ago I deleted it and started using setcpu and I didn't had any SOD anymore.
Using tamasek's kang 69+ Vadonka's kernel
any more lucky cm7 users?
There aren't "lucky" users, sods are caused mainly by:
-radio errors: the phone shuts-off because baseband encounters a critical error, and kernel goes in panic. This is common in cm7 roms, because ril is closed-source (so radio commands are obtained via reverse-engeenering), so we don't know the exact commands and radio management. A normal phone usage should not encounter this kind of SoD. Juicedefender or Toggle2G tweak continuously radio settings (i.e. internet activation or 2G/3G switching), so in cm7 these app are not recommended.
-kernel panic: phone shuts-off because of a generic kernel panic. The main cause of kernel panic is a bad/aggresive-tweaked custom kernel, or UV/OC. An unknown cause of kernel panic happens sometimes during phone charging.
I DON'T RECOMMEND UNDERVOLTING, a lot of phone could not manage that. I had a lot of SoDs because of that.
If I wrote something wrong please correct me.

I haven't had any SOD yet. Use my 2X since last April.
Been on Stock, Modaco Fr19, Gueste v2.2, Gueste v3.1, Gueste v3.2 and am on Temaseks last KANG.
Tried different Kernels as well.
CM7 is highly recommended to be used with BB and RIL 218. Maybe this is the source of your problems.
If your Phone gets this SODs that often, I would revert to stock and return it.
Chances are high, that you will get a newer and bug free specimen.
if you use cm7 kang #69 and with etana kernel, i suggest you change the minimum value to 324 MHZ since it doesn't give me SOD at all. with my pimp my CPU configuration like this:
default: 324-1100MHZ.

i don't Undervolt since it will give problem with my device. i guess i have the crap one can't undervolt
CM7 is highly recommended to be used with BB and RIL 218. Maybe this is the source of your problems.

nah, i use the BB and RIL 0725 SEA
thanks for your advices. will check frequencies at start - then ill will start to mess with BBs and RILs.
I have found that this might be bb related issue soding my phone all the time. With 1120 and 1120 ril my phone is stable. No sods in week. I flashed back to 725 and i had 2 sods in one day. Also i had difficulties to find correct ril as with a lot of 725 rils i did had other problems. For know im using system in my sig and i am quiet happy.

[Q] I need a little help with upgrading

Hi, i have a samsung galaxy S i9000 and i'm kinda new with it
all i want is to make it faster because it runs very slow , i've seen youtube videos about testing some games on the same phone but some of them won't even open up. i got more interested in upgrading it and started searching around on how to. So here is what i want to do:
I want to upgrade it by changing my Rom in Cyanogen 9 and kernel Devil 3. I don't even know if it is good but i'm sure its better than gingerbread.
Can some1 help me out with it , maybe post a little tutorial how to do it.
Aditional info :
-I don't want so save anything from it
-It's rooted
-Firmware version: 2.3.6
-Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-i9000XXJVU-CL851880 [email protected] #2

CyanogenMod (CM) 9 is really outdated. If you want a good, fast ROM I can recommend Slimbean. It's largely based on CM. You can find more info here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060374
Detailed instructions can be found in that thread and on the slimrom website.
Coming from Gingerbread you'll need to install CM10 first, otherwise you will lose your IMEI, which will render your phone unable to make or place calls. Once on CM10 you can then flash Slimbean.
Or using an newer version of CM

Like i said in the original post i wanted rom cm9 with devil 3 kernel but still didnt know what that means...( the kernel part)
Now that i got the cm10 ive searched around videos on youtube and seen lot of ppl kinda overclocking it with diferent kernel...
I want to do it like with semaphore or some kernel thing... can someone explain to me how it is done and if it is good for the phone?
Some infos:
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband vers: I9000xxJVT
Kernel version: 3.0.76-gc0a8d45
Memory: 369 mb
Cm vers: 10.1.2-galaxysmtd
Okay different kernel i have no experience with it ,sorry...
But overclocking is available with the stock-kernel in CM 10 ...to about 1200mhz in the performance menu under your settings ...have you activate developer options and performance...do you know how to do it???

Your clock isnt stable go download semaphore kernel or devil kernel and flash it in recovery and try then over clocking with their kernel managers.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app

Some Qs:
Do i flash semaphore kernel same way i installed ROM?
Will semaphore replace current ROM (cm10)??
Did some1 had any problems with semaphore kernel ? like bricking the phone? is it stable?
Is anyone at the current time having cm10 with smaphore kernel overclocking at 1.2ghz ?
Does Sgs i9k support the overclock stable?

You flash semaphore the same way you flashed your rom and it will replace stock cm kernel your rom will stay the same make sure you flash the right version to avoid any bricking. It makes cm run better. Overclock depends on your phone some people can overclock high some not so much. Download semaphore changer governor to sio and liveoc to 110% and set min frequenci 400Mhz. That should be enough to make it supper smooth

EDIT: make sure after flashing to download semaphore manager from the playstore its like a control panel for semaphore where all the settings are and i repeat make sure you flash the right version for your android version and phone i9000.

I don't get it why do you want to flash another kernel? Aren't you happy now with smooth CM10.1x? Here on this forum are many flashing freaks who flash and overclock their phones until the device completely crashes.
CM10.1x is excellent already way it is, if you want to even improve it (first of all to get about double battery life) just upgrade it to the newest nightly version of CM10.2 tomorrow (build 20130828), it will finally have all bigger bugs fixed. Very soon, stable CM.10.2 build will be released out of this nightly. This is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385178
If you want to do it, just mind that the developer (pawitp) doesn't mention anymore installing gapps, so this would be the workflow from your present ROM:
Do a Nandroid Backup of your CM10.1.2 build before the upgrade!
Go to CWM recovery mode and check first in "install zip" if your zips of the CM10.2 and Gapps for 4.3 are visible on your internal SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache (under "advanced")
Install the nightly ROM zip from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Install Gapps for CM10.2 (Android version 4.3) while still in recovery
Restore /data from Nandroid Backup (the update will wipe your /data) while still in recovery
Reboot system
The partition layout of CM10.2 (beginning from 20130816 nightly) differs of that of CM10/CM10.1. The first install will wipe your /data to switch to the new layout, but after that you may use CWM to restore/backup data of CM10/10.1/10.2 (in CWM recovery under "advanced restore" then "restore data" from your CM10.1 nandroid backup)
This way done, you should have all data, wallpaper, widgets and apps like in your CM10.1 right after the reboot. And wait until tomorrow, when the 20130828 nightly gets released. I've been using "buggy" builds (nightlies between 24 and 27 Aug) without any problems, but some people had problems with them.
