How coincidental is this??? Today I was presented with the same problem n I'm currently looking around for help on the same issue. Does the audio sound like ur.on the phone? Mine does... Basically wen I turn on my sensation xl it works fine and sounds fine until I have a phone call. The call goes well with no problems but the audio then goes after the phone call, and wen I make another call, the reciever cannot hear me!!! I've been looking around and it couldbe due to an app not closing the audio port wen another app wants to use it. Do u have Poweramp? My problems only seem to have started since updating it today....

Make hard reset (Remember this delete your data and photos !). probably one of the applications still running in the background and takes the sound driver.

Thank u stona 175.that is wot I done nd phone is now fine.Thank u for your help

Google voice typing is the problem.
Settings->Language&keyboard->deselect "Google voice typing"
that should work

Done, but nothing changes. Even hard reset, as soon as I upgrade old app versions with play store and install Poweramp, or perform the first call, sound goes to one side only. Radio sound perfect, so I assume the phone is not broken, It's a software issue. And the next calls, I hear perfect the other side of the line, but they only hear noise.

Same problem with Official ICS, XL3.6 v1.6 and original RUU ICS.
Finally came back to 3Ms ICS Sense 4 to avoid it (great rom but not 100% functional yet)

Exact same sound problem..
ICS update didnt help... Are there any one or any technician solved problems .. Or any software that might fix it..

[Q] No sound from front speakers or head set

Hi, I was trying Cyanogen Rom the other day and my HTC One just lost tha audio in the front speakers and head set. I can't hear any notification sound, ringtones or media. The only audio that is working is in-call audio. And even the in-call audio stops working if I turn on speaker or use a head set.
All the volume settings are ok, nothing is in silent. I have done everything. I even reversed the root and relocked the boot loader and returned the phone to full stock with the At&t RUU exe from HTC.
Has any one experienced something like this with their phone?
Hope anyone can help. Also I hope I'm posting in the correct area.
Thanks!
I had the same thing happen to my phone. I have relocked my as well gonna take mine back to Costco and exchange it today.

HTC One speaker popping sound

I haven't used my speakers in about a week so I decided to try them today. I got a weird popping sound as soon as I opened up YouTube. Once I started playing a video, a steady pop persisted even though the audio was coming out. I tried playing through multiple music apps, turning beats audio off, and restarted the phone with no luck. This is only happening for my top speaker only when I enter an app that plays sound. The sound also persists for a few seconds after I stop sound. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks.

In the main thread about such noises somebody has fixed this persistent popping through repair of HTC. It's hardware.
The popping sound (one single pop) a few seconds after a sound is played seems to affect a lot of people! Don't know if that's hard- or software. My device got that, too.

I've seen threads on that but it doesn't seem to be my issue. The sound doesn't just occur when I stop a sound, it occurs as soon as I start playing sound. Its constantly there. If I open up a song, it will continue to pop through the duration of the song until I stop the song completely. This makes it hard to make phone calls too. Headphones work fine though so its definitely related to the speaker. I haven't read about this specific issue on xda before so I decided to post it.

Yes. Your problem is a hardware defect (a user wrote about that), my phone doesn't have this problem. The seconds one (the single pop) often occurs.

Do you use any type of equalizers/DSPs? the main cause for popping sounds is that the speaker is making too much vibrations. When you use a DSP, the increases the vibrations and when audio stops, the DAC will mute it, causing all vibrations to stop at once. The more vibrations, the louder the popping sound will be when the DAC mutes it.
If you don't use any DSPs, just disable the touch sound effect by going into Settings > Sound > (untick) Touch Sounds
If you get popping sounds on stock audio with or without Beats Audio enabled (Or when you are listening to music, playing games etc), it's best you get it checked out by someone because the pop sound is not noticeable with Stock or Beats Audio.
When I refresh email or similar, the refresh sound is followed by a pop after the refresh has finished. It's like the end of a sound file as you can hear white noise in between the refresh and the pop

Then something's really wrong here. You are on stock rom right? If so, I suggest you contact wherever you got the device from and see if they can do anything about it.
This pop sound is normal when using DSPs on speakers but it's not normal when you have it with all audio effects turned off...

Come to think of it, my old one x+ popped just looking at the home screen. Also you could hear the camera chugging away like it was taking pictures randomly. The ONE does this sometimes. Sneaky apps I suspect, using recording and picture taking to spy ??

[Q] No sound from top speaker when receiving calls

The other day i noticed really weird problem/bug when receiving incoming call.
When proximity/light/whatever sensors are covered (i.e phone sitting on desk with screen facing the desk) while receiving call, i get no ringtone sound from top speaker, bottom one is working fine.
I tried to disable beats audio, unchecking "quiet ring on pickup" and "pocket mode" in sound settings, i disabled some apps which might cause such behavior like Viber etc.
Oh, and i did factory reset few days ago, so this should not be the problem. Maybe it was present before factory reset, but i didn't really noticed because i changed my ringtone and it's really really noticeable with it.
Otherwise, i don't have any problems with speakers besides this one.. when i watch youtube, play games or listen to music everything is working as it should.
I'm 100% stock, unrooted - for now, running latest OTA (3.62.401.1).
What could be the problem? Anyone else with same issue?
Anyone?
Maybe your ringtone is mono, not stereo
Sent from HTC One 802w Dual Sim with my hand...
Nope, i tried multiple ringtones and same problem occurs.
Ok, one last bump.. this "problem" occurs even with latest OTA update (4.4.2), can anyone test it and report if it's normal or not?
I tried CM 11 and OmniRom and there was no such problem..
I confirm this issue on desire 820

I am facing the same issue on my recently purchased HTC desire 820. The only difference is that the top speaker never plays the rringtone during an incoming call. However i can get hear from both the speakers when i receive the call and start the speaker phone.
Did you find any workaround to this? I can hardly know if i am getting a call when i am outdoors because of this problem.

No, sadly i didn't solve this issue.. i have One M8 now and it also has this same problem, so i guess it's "broken" by design across all HTC phones with boomsound speakers.
Only thing that solved it for me was custom rom (AOSP based, i'm not sure about Sense based), so it's pretty clear that it's software feature, issue or whatever they call it.
i have same problem on htc desire 820
I jave same problem here on desire 820

Posting in the right forum could help
Desire 820 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-820
The only suggestion I can give without knowing particularly this device is to go back to stock rom if you are using a custom one to look if its software related only. A factory reset is also something you want to try (backup your files first)

[Q] Strange call problem

Hey there!
I am very happy with my HTC One even after the announcement of the M8, but since a few days I have a very strange problem.
Every time I try to take a call, I need to enable the speaker, since the one I am calling with can't hear me without.
It seems like my voice is there, but really really quite.
I was using Viper One till today and it happened between 5.60 and 5.70, but today I changed the rom to see whether it could be a rom problem and using now InsertCoin SixthSense 1.0.1.
My HTC One is unlocked, S-OFF and of course rooted... any idea, what could fix my really quite voice, instead of screaming or using the speaker the whole time? I don't like it, when everybody can hear me talking on the phone, I'm no Eric Cartman.
Record some video with very loud sounds. Try blowing or whistling directly into the mic . Sounds crazy but it has worked for others.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Will try both "fixes" tomorrow.
So it's a already known problem for some users?
Btw: I tried to use Shazam and it also nearly identifies no music, even if it is in front of the speaker. So it has to be something with the normal mic. But why does it work flawlessly, when talking with the speaker enabled?
I suppose it could affect all mic functions. I personally experienced this with phone calls and personally fixed it with loud recordings (as did others), i didn't check shazam ..
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Okay tried it a few days ago with whistling directly into the mic and it didn't fixed my problem.
So I decided to try the extremely loud recording and it sadly also didn't worked.
But I found out, that it has been gotten worse than before. My recordings on 29.03 went with a few quite whistles, but my recording yesterday couldn't record any whistle at all and only got music, after I increased the volume to +300 and it's still really quite.
I also tried to flash a new radio and kernel, none of them fixed anything.
So I guess, flashing back to stock and bringing it to a repair station is the last chance I have?
