Question on Amazon Payments - Off-topic

I have decided I no longer want to use Paypal anymore so I was looking at alternatives for buying/selling online.
Does anyone on here use/trust Amazon Payments?
I know the marketplace rules seem to only focus on Paypal, but Amazon Payments seems to have all the same protections for both parties so it seems to me that its a viable alternative. Even better they dont charge a fee!
Thanks for your thoughts!

I quit PayPal years ago, I've been an Amazon Prime member forever and I LOVE it. Best online shopping service ever! Free 2 day shipping, cheap overnight shipping, Amazon Instant Video subscription, you can even SHARE your prime membership with other people (significant other, parent, children) so they have their own Prime membership. :good::good: Two thumbs up for Prime.

Nexus 7 available to uk

I ordered a 16gb nexus 7 on the Play Store a couple of weeks ago. Then found them for sale in currys last week, so bought one. It is an awesome and extremely addictive device!
I cancelled the Play Store order but they still shipped it!
So now I have a spare sealed one. If anybody wants it at cost price plus postage, then drop me a private message.

They will deduct 15%!!!!!!!! And also not refund the shipping!
You are covered under distance selling regulations, you do not have to pay restocking fee, it should say not applicable to EU and Australia, not sure about delivery, check t and c
Easiest way is to refuse delivery, that is what Google recommends

Yes, distance selling regulations give you too weeks to return no questions asked as long as the box is unopened. You may have to swallow the shipping charge but its better than selling it.
to clarify DSR
You have 7 working days from contract (receipt of.goods) to notify cancellation in form of durable medium, eg email not phone call.
You then have to return goods within a reasonable time period.
You do not have to pay cost for returning items if it is not explicitly written in contact.
You do not have to pay any other fee such as admin or restocking fee.
This is only DSR, returning because you didn't like it when opened doesn't count, in this case follows company returns policy.

Moko Replacement Case Shipping Info

Not sure if this will work for anyone else but I wanted to share a quick note about my moko replacement case shipping experience. I am an Amazon Prime member so I get free 2 day shipping. When I looked at the non prime 2 day shipping the price was over $7, however after I logged in to prime it was only $3.99 for 1 day shipping. I decided to take the chance and order the device with my prime account and get the one day shipping.
MOKO actually refunded me the price of the device as well as the overnight shipping charges without question! Thought I would share this for other prime members! No need to wait 2 days if they will refund you for overnight.

They said to order overnight shipping if you are a prime member in the email they sent and said they would reimburse for the cost of the case plus shipping. Glad to see that's really the case.

Well done Google for looking after previous customers. I am waiting for the white to hit the UK store can't wait. No free bumper currently on the UK store for the black product so I guess the store may see the update next week.
I order another Nexus 4 on the 30th and they just told me the promotion started the 31st of May so I didn't qualify but they said they would look into it. Thanks for the tip though!

Just called them and they refuse to send me one since I purchased a black phone. Clearly in their FAQ and shows you get a black bumper free if you bought a black phone, or a white one, if you purchased the white version. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and I was transferred, rudely told the same thing. I explained that if I could just get a simple $20 refund, it'd be so much more easier on both ends than for us to have to ship items back and forth to one another.
They are offering me the option to return the phone and bumper I purchased just 3 days ago, minus shipping costs, and a 15% re-stocking fee. I'll be spending more money to just get a "free bumper" so forget it.
Google's customer service in comparison to amazon's is quite horrible. I can't believe they didn't offer me promotional credit to google play, or something in return for this unfortunate situation. With Amazon, if a situation like this ever occurred, they'd at least give me MP3 credit for a few songs, or extend my prime membership by a month.

I'm in the same boat as you, with the same issue and conclusion you came to. Even though I like the phone, this is thievery on google's part. Also it was rather asinine to not be able to just refund the purchase price of the bumper.
About to engage costumer support to see who the victor is, my device arrived on the 31st so I may be able to pull some bs based on that :cyclops:
Also I don't think they should be giving bumper refunds for any reason, as I see it is either you should get a bumper or not and I think we should.
am i the only one that feels that people are being greedy in this thread by calling Google thieves because they won't give them something for free because they bought something before a promotion started?

But are they making any more by giving away free bumpers to everyone now? Would they really lose any less by "giving" ones out to people who were unlucky and purchased the phone and bumper separately just days before this promotion?
I feel kind of screwed out of $20 since I just bought the phone a few days ago and they're not offering me any feasible solution.
I purchased it in India in a local shop, Google don't sell N4 via play store in India. It's LG who is selling it, So will I get free bumper ??

No, I agree with you. Certainly it depends on the timing of when the Nexus 4 was bought but, speaking from the perspective of someone who works in customer service, these are the types of calls I hate fielding. Why should a company have to compensate you for something you didn't qualify for? There's a certain point where it becomes entitlement and I hate that.

While I agree to some extent, they need to offer a better solution to those who bought the phone and bumper at the same. My gripe is not with getting the free case but seeing that i bought both i should at least be refunded the price of the bumper. Its was literally a day before the promotion, and they want to charge restocking fees, preposterous. In the end I'm not totally up in arms about it, because both are quality made products, its more of the timing.
Is T-Mobile giving the bumper away too?

Even if I was in the price matching period I wouldn't be complaining. It's only $20 for a bumper case. Go buy one instead of wasting your own and Google's time.

That's exactly how I'm reading it. Disgraceful to complain about such a third by considering how cheap the Nexus 4 is anyway.

Amazon no longer selling Chromecast

As of right now you can't buy a Chromecast directly from Amazon. They have third party sellers that have them for sale from $90 to $150 but no more Amazon direct with Prime shipping.
It would also appear that they don't have any idea when the next batch will come in from Google as they've stopped sending ship date estimates to customers that have already purchased them.
Google, it seems, has grossly underestimated the demand for this product or put them on sale long before they had enough in stock. I'm glad I got my four before this snafu.
Google is not good at selling predictions. Remember what happened with Nexus 4...

Gotta keep in mind that Google doesn't have a massive multinational production network that can just spew these out. If they do they might have just wanted to measure interest first.

So about the price of the blu r1 hd........

I signed up for amazon prime free trial because I really wanted to buy the phone for $60 but each time I try to check out the price is $109 for the one loaded with amazon ads what gives? To anyone who got it at that low price from Amazon, what did you do? Do i have to be a paid member? any input would be of great help thanks
You need to be a paid Prime member to get the discounted ads version of BLU R1 or Moto G4
If you're a free/shared member then you qualify for $50 gift card if you become a paid member
Get a $50.00 Amazon.com Gift Card when you become a paid Prime member.

ok thank you very much :good:
Wait a sec, that's not quite true, unless I read this wrong. I signed up for a prime trial, bought the r1, then told it not to continue my trial, no purchases for prime at all.
I'm a "shared" Prime member, and I got the $59 price for the 2gb/16gb model. But that was on Prime day, so maybe that's not available any more to non-paid Prime members?
No, people who share a prime account are not eligible to buy this phone at the prime price.
Oh, and if you don't sign up for prime at the end of your trial, you will be charged the price difference - the amount that you saved.

You did make a prime purchase - the phone! A prime purchase is anything you bought from amazon that got either prime shipping or prime pricing.
I ordered mine about a week ago and was having the same issue with the price increasing at check out. The workaround that I used was going to the bottom of Amazon's R1 HD page and ordering the phone using Amazon's frequently bought together (phone + case) items and then deleting the case in the shopping cart. I was able to checkout with the Prime price that way and I am on the free Prime trial.
Let us know if that works for you
So just to clear things up, by doing this the final checkout price was $ 60? Not 110 + a $ 50 gift card? Im not from the us, so I don't want to stick to a subscription I won't use
Yes, I just rechecked and it still comes through at $59.99 with the trial Amazon Prime membership when you add both phone and case through Amazon's frequently bought together link but removing the case when you check out.
Can confirm that the case option works when on a mobile device.

Does that mean that if I convert to a paid prime member that the gift card will go on top of the $60 price, making it $10?

Doubt it -- either you're getting $50 instant prime discount upfront or you qualify for $50 GC later if paying full price
Just bought it using the "frequently purchased together" method for $60 with a prime free trial (student one for 6mo). I mean... it's not like they can come back and charge me the extra... right?

Read the fine print, I went ahead and bought one using a friends paid membership. Amazon will charge all of you who bought with the free trial of primethe price diffference sooner or later.....
My previous Amazon Fire phone bit the dust, I have had so many customer support and tech requests on that phone, I wonder if I could convince them to sell me another 16/2 at $60?? They pride themselves on customer service (hint of sarcasm) but I wonder if it's worth a try
If you don't keep paid amazon prime for at least 3 months, amazon will either take back or charge you the $50 discount that you got on the phone. It's right there in the prime agreement - read the fine print.
A lot of people who signed up for the prime trial just to buy the phone and then cancelled are going to get a surprise! And buying the phone counts as a prime purchase, so you did use your prime benefits. It's not like amazon hadn't anticipated situations like this.
