need some help - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i wanted to ask that i was using apocalypse rom and it is great and smooth and all
and i liked it
but then came PARANOIDANDROID and i loved it as i wanted more on my cell screen and that rom gave me that but it had battery drain and 3 pin problem so i couldnot keep it even tho i liked it
but now when i am back to apocalypse rom i still have battery drain
so i flashed it again twice (with all wipes)
and still having that problem and i thought it is a kernal problem
but i guess that rom come with firekernel oc so i should get that problem
so if any1 know the problem please

Charge your battery to 100% and then calibrate your battery .

Plug it on the AC charger for at least 5hours, then go to Recover > Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Then reboot again, use normally the phone and do NOT charge it until it dies with 0% battery, do not power it on, then let it charge with AC charger for another 5 hours, then you can power it on... On my Ace it was worked, then the battery drawn is much more linear

Might be calibration problems as the above guys said.Try these methods and post again

But calibration is a busted myth......

Calibration doesn't increase battery, but it makes battery readings accurate which might also be the problem of the OP

I don't know how many times my battery has died and I've done a lot of full charges .
My battery reading gets buggier after every full charge .

Question on # Arrow # [ROM][JS8][3/24/11]Continuum v4

Hello,
I was wondering if i did something wrong when flashing, I flashed me phone yesterday, love the rom, but the battery life stinks, today I have been off the charger for 3 hrs, 1 20 min phone call and check download my email and my battery is at 73%. This morning before I unplugged my charger I went into oxdin and removed battery stats to see if that helped, any advise would be helpful, I did flash to stock with oden3 one click and I had 85% battery and plugged in charging when I flashed to this rom. I want to keep this rom as it is super fast and no issues found other than the battery
Thanks in advance for any help
Tonyzz
I would give it another day or so. It can take it a little while for the battery to settle in. if that doesn't work you could try flashing another kernel or modem.
Just a few opinions...

yes like the previous post
you have wait for few days cz it takes tym recalibrate battery stats. couple of charges and discharges will fix the battery drain
Thank you,
I'll give it a few days and see if it fixes itself, this is the best rom I have tried and would hate to have to change as everything with it is how I would do it if I had a clue how to custom a rom
Thanks
Tony
Like the others have said give it a few days, my battery life VASTLY improved after 3 discharge cycles. Also, another thing to check is the cell standby and make sure that you're not having the 50% time without signal bug. I had that this morning and it drained 20% in barely over an hour.

[Q] Does battery calibration work?

Hi,
Just a quick one and any responses from personal experiance would be great.
Has anyone used an app to re-calibrate the battery? If so did it help or did it seem to make the battery life worse?
I had a major drain on my battery so did a complete reinstall of tweaky ROM and the drain has stopped. Just wondering if I should bother to recalibrate
Thanks

Calibration did not help me, I have the same stamina... JVH + Criskelo v56 + CF-Root 3.2
from those many many times i have tried to do calibration in all possible ways that has being suggested even waiting a few days for the cycle to end...
my conclusion its bull**** it depends on the rom or apps that are running ....
the only thing it does it shows u 100% when u finish charging in case u dont see it already.
Does it work or does waiting two weeks for battery to settle down work .
jje
My findings are similar to JJE. After flashing a ROM, it will take 4-5 charge cycles (just charging every night, nothing special....may run down to 0% after first charge) before I see a stable, decent battery life.

Ditto, I try not to judge a ROMs battery appetite until about a week, espescially if I was to lazy to flash at 100%.. But I think that is what is meant by battery calibration..
Ok thanks guys, think I'll wipe battery stats next time I flash a new ROM 100% battery

[Q] Battery life

Hey
I've had my Mini for two months now and I've calibrated the battery at least 15 times and somehow I still get battery jumps (sometimes as high as 25% jumps)
Does anybody else have a problem with battery calibration??
Also, is it safe to leave the phone charging overnight or is there no charger protection in this phone??
Thanx

Thanx for your response, I'm noticing now that my battery's reporting wrong, I've tried 4 different battery tools and all of them report 4mV when they should report 4250mV (or something like that)
Is anybody else seeing this behavior??

Could you clarify this for me???.....'Cause I don't know what you're talking about
In my opinion too much calibration is not needed with liking battery
My problem is not due to excessive battery calibration, it's due to battery reporting errors, I keep seeing percentage jumps and the voltage is also wrongly displayed

Upgrade ROM maybe can solved that problem
And after installing new ROM calibrate again once!
I've had the same problem with 4 different ROMs (FroYo stock, GB stock, Andro-ID and CM7).
I'm starting to think that it's a physical battery problem

F*** UP BATTERY AND STABILITY ! geez...

Hi all , sorry for making 3 threads but i am just so so so damn frustrated ....i just flash my tab back to stock and flash it back to paranoid android cm10 1.99a version and all hell breaks loose , my tab HAS SOME REALLY BAD BATTERY to the point i dunno wad the hell is the battery indicates , when i put it to charge it is at a constant 61% no up no down but when i remove the charger and reboot it goes to 1 % and shut down immedieatly i mean seriously what the hell ?? i tried reflash , format but no use ....and it tends to restart every now and then ( i suspect it's the battery ) and i can't flash humberos for some reason ....it says operation aborted or something ...really i really need some help over this battery issue ....please help
I understand your frustration.
Remember your initial CM9 flash went bad, shutting down by itself when you remove charger, and subsequent flash goes to bootloop and such.
I think it is all because of the battery.
I would recommend fixing this before doing more flashes. If it happens to be flashing your bootloader (for example during restocking), and the power run out, you may brick your device.
Have you wipe the battery stats from CWM menu, then power off the tab and fully charge it for say 8hrs, using the original 2A rated wall charger ?
The other option that some people suggested is by opening up the tab (google for proper video instruction) and unplug the battery, wait a while, then replug it back.

Boot into CWM recovery and then wipe battery stats......or use battery calibrator from play store.....(recommended:wiping battery stats)
Wiped stats but with no good =(
for what it is worth, what I do is I wipe at real low level.
Then I power it off. then I charge for 8hr.
hi
to make sure your battery isn't fWordup, touch the charger after 20 minutes, if it is hot, then it is charging, if not, your battery isn't consuming electric power from the charger, so it is indeed fWord.
replace it asap before any other flashing!
best regards ^_^

I dont think the battery died cause i had the same problem few months back and i solved it.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697902
flashed back to stock and now it's fine ...
damn never gonna try paranoid for a while until a newer version a very good rom indeed but lacks stability for me at least
trying aokp ..hopefully this will work
but still whats up with the battery .. =(
I see you are a serial flasher. Hahaha.
Give your tab a break. Stay in one rom for a few charge cycles.
The battery needs to be conditioned.

Finally the battery is OK now using aokp build 40 but how long does it take to fully charge a tab ?it charges like 1 % every 5 mins which is very slow not that I am complaining just seeing my battery charge makes me smile
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
hm.. that is about 8hrs for full charge. a bit too long. Mine usually 3hr+ I think.
Are you using the original charger? 2A rated?
original ..nvm i think imma just stick the charger in my tab 24/7 then lol
I have same experiences, after flashing custom rom.
What i did was put my tab in refrigerator for couple of minutes let it cold then charge it using wall charger for couple of hours.
It works for me.

Battery dying

Hello, i have some problem with my ace. My battery is dying, after recharge i unplug it and it immediately go down from 100% to 98% and after 5 hours i have 15%. I dont know what happend, my battery lasts for 3 days and now all of the sudden it wont last longer than 5-6 hours.
This is what i have in my phone:
1st of all wrong section...ask questions in Q&A section.
callibrate the battery...search the forums for that !
also turn off wifi, gps, data etc when not in use...
use the right governors and frequency...
use slaidboost or adrenaline or V6 scripts for better performance, OOM groupings, battery etc....
U CAN GET EVERYTHING BY SEARCHING ! DONT POST USELESS THREADS [lol i m not shouting, just givin strict instructions]
Sorry about section, my bad. I already turned everything off, and with that cpu frequency it lastd for 2-3 days month ago.
How long did you charged?

no problem... at least from now search before posting ! coz xda is google for android stuff...
use default 880mhz or underclock always...and governer smartassV2 or ondemand
and while playing games, browsing pump up the frequency...
also use cpu spy to see which applications are using max battery. if that app is useless then delete it...
also change the rom if the same thing happens after doing above stuff..

and dont disconnect charger untill the "lightning" symbol on the battery is gone....then its fully 100% charged.
I charged all night with the same effect. I just wiped all data and cache, now im charging.
//edit
My battery is now dead, and im unable to recharge it.

Seems to me like a defect battery. There was another guy with this problem, he noticed that his battery was deformed (of the heating its been through).. Check your battery if it is deformed as well to confirm, it may be a broken battery even if it's not deformed.
It would be a waste to buy a new phone if the problem lies within the battery, borrow a friend's or someone elses battery to double check,

It doesnt seem to be deformed to me, btw i had this idea about borrowing battery too. My friend have ace too, so i will try this and hope its battery.
//edit
After few days the phone doest want to star, i changed battery and the result was same. And my battery worked in friend's ace. What do you think it might be?
