What is the first thing/s you are doing when you get your Nexus 7.
Doesn't include taking it out of the box.
I will be probably rooting it as soon as I take it out of the box. Maybe install some custom roms.
So what are you going to do?

The first thing that i will do is test the web browser and see if it is any smooth, if the browser is not, than i will try dolphin or something like that, but if that browser still lags that i will consider returning because i want a good and handy browsing device.

Go Easter egg hunting in settings.

Yeah, but by the time we all get our devices, I'm sure they'll be a slew of roms, kernels, and other delicious Bacon. I think I'll run mine stock for a week or so, looking for bugs. Before I void any warranties, I wanna make sure I don't have a faulty device.

Test around for few minutes then start my setup!!
setup each of the 5 pages exactly the way I want, download widgets, apps, personalize the device
then i will start putting my own contents onto the device: movies, ebooks, comics

how is installing a new rom voiding your warranty?

Can Aria support Flash Player?

I was on the market and I found apps where you can stream TV shows but it said you need flash player. I know the Aria doesn't support flash player but is there an app that let's you watch those shows? Running CM7.

No. I believe flash lite is not supported by AOSP or AOSP doesn't support flash lite. whatever.
Aria's processor is not supported by flash (not flash lite).

I thought we were supposed to have a syed sticky by now? But it would be cool to get flash on liberty.
You all missed the point of the question, I've thought of the same, instead of using an app that takes you to a pop-up window with a flash video, could there be an app that get the streams and play it as a flv player....
I doubt someone develope such an app...
Let's say, instead of going into the browser and attempt to watch live streams and videos at Ustream.tv,
instead of that, use their app (It's in the Market) that let's you directly play live streams without using HTC Flash Lite or Adobe's.
Something like that..................

Forever is a strong word friend
Flash uses RTMP (in an FLV container). Now the HTC Aria doesn't support RTMP but it does support RTSP. Lucky for you there's been some (minor) research in to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6495551&postcount=8
It's not the most elegant solution but the answer is: Yes, with some effort you can watch RTMP streams on your Aria.
(lol forever no)
You'll probably never get to watch live flash based feeds, but there are apps that allow you to watch otherwise unwatchable flash required content such as the YouTube and megavideo apps.

Netflix on the market? for stock 2.2 no less

So I downloaded netflix from the market, and it says in the list of supported devices that the HTC Thunderbolt is one. Now it does install and accepts your username password, you can see your qeue and it attemps to play the vid, but fails with a DRM required message. any one else seeing this? if you search for it it will not appear, but if you select apps, all apps, free apps then scroll down its listed. click install and try to enjoy a mostly usable app.

Netflix does NOT need GB to function, it appears as if it needs it for the TBolt but not overall. That being said they made Droid Bionic support available so take everything with a grain of salt. Maybe GB will be coming soon and rather than fix issues with the TBolt again soon they figured set it up for GB and users can use it then (and root users now ).

Questions about the N7

Not sure if this is the correct area but I have a few questions:
How well does the tablet preform?
How do you guys find it?
Is it good for gaming?
How's the battery life of the device?
Is it worth the amount of money people are selling it at?
What do you recommend the 8 GB or 16 GB
Might have a few more but that's all for now, hope you guys can help me out!
Thanks.
1. Fantastically, I haven't noticed any lag, no unresponsiveness at all
2. It's a great device and is built sturdily, the only problem I have with it is that the keyboard is just little too wide to type while holding it, it's possible but mistakes are common
3. Excellent, I've been playing Shadowgun, Need For Speed, Angry Birds, Cogs and World of Goo on it and it's been performing really well, no lag at all and the screen size is just right, and it even keeps the games in memory after opening lots of other apps and it responds really well.
4. Great, got about 7 hours out of it while gaming solidly with screen on auto brightness, when on apps other than games it lasts about 8 hours and a half
5. Yes, considering it does everything rather well, I thought reading would be difficult but it's not
6. If you download a lot of the "bigger" games from the Play Store, then go for the 16GB, if not, everything is cloud based so just go for the 8GB, unless you want to store stuff for offline use

There are two hacks to get this fixed. One is build. prop edit. the other i think is a framework xml edit (dont quite me on the second) Its a assumption but im sure its framework related. I do not have my tablet yet :crying:
This will most likely require you to Root your tablet.
Awe why don't they just add a setting like most launchers ;(

I'm sure you know it does landscape except when on the launcher screens, but mine didn't have "auto rotation " enabled out of the box. If anyone isn't getting landscape when browsing the web, etc., check your settings.
BTW, I just use Apex Launcher and now have landscape on the homescreen too.

The mobile network unlock is called SIM unlocking, which allows you to switch to other networks. Bootloader unlocking, the most commonly talked about here on XDA, means modifying your device to allow custom versions of Android.
Probably means the second one then, so that's equivalent to rooted? or not?
Another thing is, the USB port on the device, can that be used for any keyboard? maybe also a usb hub, so i can connect a mouse to it also?

Keyboard/mouse: yes. USB host capability (for expanding the storage of the device via flash drive): only when rooted so far. An update might fix it if enough people complain, but for now, you have to root it and get stickmount (or a similar app).

Nook HD - How to remove bar when watching videos?

I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the bottom control bar when watching videos? It makes the screen considerably smaller than it needs to be which on a 7" screen is pretty silly.
I'm using the stock ROM as it's nice and stable compared to my ICS Huawei Ascend G300 which is an unstable mess so I'm reluctant to swap it out, but I am going to root it soon.
Is there any way to hide it? Is there a specific video player that works maybe? It would be nice if I could get it to work more like button saviour.

If you're on stock I think you're pretty much stuck. I don't get why you bring inthe instability of the G300 since that says absolutely nothing about this device.
Having said that, if you want to stay on stock, make a dual boot system, running CM from sd card. Go to the development section and instructions shoudln't be too har to find.

+1 for Full!Screen. It's a great app.

Full!screen is good but wallpaper gets black when you start the app and it's pretty hard to fix it.
Choose a different launcher like Nova and use a live wallpaper. Problem solved.

Yes, but live wallparer is eating battery a lot(not that fluid and fast also) and if you change to live wallpaper and then change to back to static, it will appear, until you turn off fullscreen mode.
There are a few decent low draining live wallpapers out there. Days of Ubuntu and WP Clock come to mind. According to Better Battery Stats, they're barely a blip on battery drain.
For those of us who want to game or watch videos full screen but don't want to give up the stability of stock, it's worth the tradeoff. Or at least it's as good as it gets. I'm unaware of any other solution (GMD is a pain in the arse).
