[Q] "unable to connect to this network" on CM9 - wifi works - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Three days ago, I have upgraded my N7000 with the CM9 nightly posted on 2012 07 01 and since i don't have any network signal on my phone.
I can manually scan network but on selecting any of the networks available, it shows the message: "unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later."
My SIM card works on a friend phone and his SIM card doesn't work on mine.
The IMEI number shows up correctly and the Efs folder isn't empty. I am on the Orange network.
According to the similar posts on xda, I tried :
A full flash with the latest version of CM9 (2012 07 05) (Wipe data+cache)
to restaure the file "apns-conf.xml"
to remove SIM pin
My phone still find available networks but is unable to connect ...
Thanks for your help.

I think this wifi problem common in CM9. I was browsing CM9 in development section of this forum, there are few posts on this isssue, you may find your answer there.( I am little bit nerveous with cm9 based roms, so I have not flashed any of them yet)

Thank you Dsmas,
(Just a point it's not a wifi problem, wifi works, it's about the network signal)

I tried to flash with the RC1 of CM9, but there is still the same connection problem : "unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later".
It seems that the problem is not related to the rom cyanogen... Any idea?

It's ok, but i don't understand why...
After multiple reboot it's working now! Perhaps one night switched off....

KA: Dev. CM7 / MIUI Airplane bug ...

Dear Devs,
I was facing a problem related to Airplane Bug on Miui/CM7 roms, so i googled related to this but couldnot find anything of help. So thought of asking for your help..
1) Whenever i flash a stock or custom froyo/eclair/GB rom, it detects my network which is BSNL india without any problem
2) But when i flash any CM7 or ICS rom, my phone doesnot come out of Airplane mode at all..
3) So, i tried everything, but of no use.. IMEI is good ... nothing is corrupted
4) Yesterday, when i changed SIM card to other operators present in india, the airplane bug is gone
5) so i feel that problem is either with BSNL operator or may be with sim card as every other operators sim cards gets registered and there is no airplane bug there.. ( i tried Airtel/Docomo/Vodafone/Idea networks)
Is it do with RIL..
Kindly help me as this is same problem faced by so many people around globe with their operators..

Okay!!! So i'm not alone in this. I thought it was some other issue.
It's there with BSNL Network [ India ] . The radio doesn't turn on at all!. i flashed the JVT Modem as well ( Which works with samsung ROMs in the same network). The issue has been there since ICS Build 6/7 and MIUI also now. No networks showing. The radio is not turning on.
thank god!
I always thought it was my phone.
So it is an issue with BSNL.
please post a solution if there is any.
Thank you.
i had this problem with my phone a few times, i am living in turkey and i am with turkcell right now. i managed to solve it with a few steps:
1. turn on airplane mode from the settings page (not from the power menu). make sure you see the airplane logo in the status bar.
2. reboot to recovery and wipe cache only
3.when the phone boots up from recovery, turn off airplane mode from settings, and go to mobile networks page. select network operators. it will search for a while, go grab yourself a cup of coffee. after 5 minutes or so, wake up the phone and you will see the signal bars and phone is functional again!
u r not only who facing this problem ...
Hi .. i have same problem in BSNL .. while using CM/MIUI or CM based any rom ex: insanity rom .... even i m not able to solve airplane bug ... i searched a lot regarding this n read a lot .. there isnt any proper solution .. when i restart my phone sometimes No Service shows .. n that airplane mode still on ... i complained to Dev abt this ... and even about support for third party call recording software .. there is no solution yet .. ...
plz dev do something for issues ... we are huge fan of your rom ... and dont want to switch over any other rom ...
thanks ....
re-flashing same modem number of times do work some time..
pl you people and i also do trial and error to find best suited MIUI CM7 modem for India-BSNL
i was partially successful with jp5 here... Phone once detects network ... but on next boot... Network is gone again...
so...
flash different modems from recovery.. and if lucky enough.. can get network in 2nd or 3rd flash... ( you may also clear the cache)
please try different modems...
from this link... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158783
lets post our findings here.. and find out best modem for INDIA
@all .... i m using MIUI ROM 1.11.25 has no problems from last month ... i got problem while i updated it .. then after there is no "No Service" problem ... try out guys ... it works like a charm .. i m using BSNL .. n dnt have problem ..
Are you subscribed to 3G services? It seems like the Samsung RIL implementation toggles to 2G mode quicker than Hacked RIL implementations that are on CM7 and MIUI which don't work so perfectly.
If you are not subscribed to 3G services, the phone would try to register on the 3G network upon Network Toggle or Airplane Toggle quite a while before actually switching to 2G. At this stage, you get the No Service bug which lasts quite long on CM7 or MIUI before getting back to 2G and getting a Network lock.
Have you tried using the 2G only mode and see if it gets better?
Unfortunately, RIL Implementations are properitary to Samsung and we won't be able to use them on AOSP based roms due to lack of source code.

No network connection

I get network connection on every single rom I can find but when it's Cyanogenmod or based on Cyanogenmod I get no network connection at all.
Tried clean installs of cm but still no network connection, is this a new way by cm to get rid of it's users?
I assume you have made sure that your APN settings are correct ?
Check your baseband if it is "Unknown".
It's unknown and network has worked before once but stopped after I updated it and clean installs didn't make it work again.
I was in similar situation. (no baseband, IMEI, sim-locked)
I restored backup through CWM, but it did'nt help.
I flashed the CM11 after data and cache wipe... and it helped. Everything came back to normal.
I x4.

Can't connect to WIFI networks (wifi/wlan problems)

Hi,
I can't connect to any WIFI networks with my SAMSUNG Galaxy Mini II (GT-S6500T). Now I tried for the first time a custom ROM (CM 10.1 Improved 07/07 build) but it doesn't work neither. I can see the networks and the phone is trying to connect but something goes wrong... (Password is correct. I tried many networks.)
Maybe somebody have got an advice for me?
I will attach a log file.

First try to remove your networks from phone, turn off wifi , turn on and try to connect; it happens some times , reset/restart your router, and remove your wpa/wpa2 security to see if it connect!

Trouble on wifi. Will this fix it?

Hi. So, I just got a Samsung S3 GT-I9305 from Vodacom. Got it from eBay. But, I'm having trouble connecting to the wifi. Whenever I connect to the wifi it always says "Authentication error occurred". I turned off the wifi thingy using *#0011# and wiped the cache, I even reset the phone to its factory settings. I sometimes connect to a wifi, but it takes 1 hour or so before being connected. And I have trouble downloading from the playstore. Did everything I could find from the web. No luck.
So, I was thinking, If I would flash a custom rom to my device, will it fix the wifi issue? And would any stock firmware of the I9305 device work?
Thanks! Sorry for being noob.

Hi,
I think it could be a router issue. You should :
- reset your router and retry to connect with your i9305,
- play with WIFI network settings in router. Maybe something doesn't allow your i9305 connection (network type, firewall, etc.). I'm not an expert in router settings, so you could google this to help you.
- try another WIFI network (from a friend, at work, anywhere you can test )
I think that flashing a custom ROM won't change anything. First try to fix your problem with stock firmware.

LTE and 3G stopped working?

Hi guys.
So a week ago my Mi5 only want to connect to edge, the LTE and 3G simply wont work.
I tryed everything, forcing it to only use LTE = No connection - same goes for 3G
I have also tryed to reset APN settings and nothing. I contacted my carrier, and they told me everything was fine.
I just tested it in my old Meizu and the LTE works fine. Anyone know what could cause it?
Please help, cause as for now the connection is so slow that without Wifi it might aswell be a flipphone...
Update: I also tryed to install a stable rom using this method: http://en.miui.com/a-232.html
But i cant, i get the "Your allowe to flash the newest stable rom from develop version ONLY"
Try this:
1. In Settings/About phone/ press several times on Internal memory
2. Press Phone information 1 or 2
3. Scroll down and Set Preffered network type as you see on image or chose LTE Ony .
4. Wait few seconds till change has effect.
