[KERNEL] [ICS] Arbiter 1.0 [OC 1.3GHz] - Vibrant Android Development

[font=Roboto,Arial]Arbiter[/font]
The Arbiter kernel is based on the teamhacksung Aries kernel (the stock kernel when you install CM9 on GS1-line phones). Support is only guaranteed for CM9. It appears to work on Team Nyx RC 5 and MIUI as well.
This is currently a baby kernel, it has one thing which is the OC right now. I'll add more stuff like more CPU governors later.. maybe.
Features
OC 1.3 GHz
More later...

Installation
Flash from CWM recovery.
Source
This kernel is 99% open source, you can grab the source off of GitHub from here, put it on your Linux box, and if you have the required dependencies, you should be able to just build.
Here's how to use the build script:
Code:
./build.sh # repackages (requires kernel to already be compiled)
./build.sh kernel # recompiles the kernel
./build.sh root # repackages ramdisk from staging/ramdisk/ into staging/ramdisk.img
./build.sh recovery # same as root above but repackages the recovery ramdisk instead
./build.sh root+recovery # does both of the above
I think you get the point. You can mix any of the above arguments by adding "+" in between. First time you run the build script you should pass "kernel" to compile the kernel, else the build script will fail because it's not compiled.
Thanks
Code:
* pawitp & teamhacksung
* sixstringsg for hosting
* Mr-Psycho cause I took a look at his kernel build scripts
P.S. This is not the Stock+ kernel me and creeve4 were making, this is forked from that kernel, and contains currently the same changes (OC) but this kernel is mine and will contain more changes later.

Changelog
Code:

Did anyone here get a boot hang. I wiped dalvik and cache nothing worked. I will flash 7/7/2012 nightly now and attempt to see if it works.
edit: flashed latest nightly and kernel it worked
edit again: nevermind weird rainbow color lines across my screen doesn't get past CM9 boot animation.

Going to try this on the D3, its big in the fascinate world. May be worth a dev porting to the D3 specifically. I'm going to take the plunge though since we can do nandbackups.

changed partition mounts--- for less data corruption
patched sqlite's----IMPROVES I/O

It has been reported to work on the Motorola Atrix, so that gives me hope for some additional improvements on the D3.

Did you do anything with the sysctl.conf and init.d?
Sorry for the delays... yes, as stated above, the zip files will not flash to the D3 (even though they do flash to the Moto Atrix??).
But you can definitely rip out files push them with Root Explorer or ADB commands. I haven't had time to mess with that but I may jump on it later today. Glad someone else tried and showed positive signs. That is encouraging.
I applied manually.
Don't notice any difference, really. But it may respond better to my finger. I'll have to run it for a few days.

I snatched the files from the latest SteelDroid to enable init.d. However I also used the scripts from that rom as well as they include alot the same tweaks.
I discovered that the sysctl.conf tweaks have no affect. We dont seem to have access to those adjustments. Perhaps because of our stock kernel?
for you, if you have a stock kernel to enable init.d .....

does your rom suffers from the missing widgets problem every time you shut down and boot up again? i am asking because i tried already homebase and aura which have faux's kernel and both have the same problem... CM7 beta has a kernel that does not have this problem...
So I dl and flashed using the instructions you posted.
I originally had blue cronic installed and it seems like most of the ui from it was still running after reboot. Also all of the apps had a fc issue going on so I had to restore. Should I have to flash back to stock before flashing your rom?

I would assume so. The missing widgets problem appears to be linked to faux's kernel, which this has. In faux's thread even people on CM7 that use his kernel experience the widget problem.

BTW I try to reboot the phone to see if the widgets missing. Honestly, No problem with BlurHome launcher
The widget problem seems to occur at a random time. It took a few days worth of rebooting to happen to me on homebase. After it happened the only permanent fix was to revert to stock kernel.

I can get to 384mhz, but I have noticed the minimun settings don't stick very well, but the maximum settings stick like glue. I've also noticed this on my S3. I'm not sure whats going on to be honest. I'll see if I can dig into it in the next few days. For now, though, I've noticed that you have to kinda play around with the minimum settings until it sticks, but it will stick eventually.

Cm10.1 Performance booster version 2

CM10.1 Lag Fix version 2
The first version by me is baked into cm10.1 by epinter already, this is the new one.
This update is made by me and will be baked into cm10.1 (epinter) as soon as he diffs it.
This build prop works okay*for me, but not 100%!
Instructions: To apply the tweaks and scripts to CM/PAC/CARBON etc...
(1. Download the attached file below.
(2. Flash it in Clockworkmod recovery.
(3. Enjoy.
What does this do? Enable both cores on high, free a tad more ram and graphics tweaks through properties and init.d...
VERY Close to fixing 100% of the problem. But I cant get my other source to work.
Download - Codex01-CM10.1PreformanceEnhancements-3.0.1.zip
so does battery life take a hit with both cores enabled?
No, I included more than performance there's now power saving, connection, and media init.d scripts and props.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Thanks thats good to know about to flash now.
Update: I definitely see a performance difference.
I tried it in PAC rom and its running smooth now. I notice that after i flash this, i can't proceed to CMW recovery. Anyone has the same problem? Im planning to back up this.thanks

Nope i get into CMW.
Is there a way i can recover CMW?
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
This does make everything a bit smoother. Animation is still kinda herky-jerky but for a ROM that's been around for less than a week developed by a guy who doesn't even own one (epinter says he doesn't have an MB886 available to him), this is super impressive.
Try flashing it again @ryuben2k. What version and which model, from what I hear, the Photon 4G LTE is not a good choice of recovery. Make sure you flash the Razr HD recovery. If all goes well with the millions of init.d scripts I'm writing I'll have version 3 by tomorrow.
Is this specifically for cm10.1 or will it work for PAC rom?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Yes, because PAC is a port into our cm10.1 sources. @worlddominatiin
Appreciate the work your doing looking forward to v3
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
@Swiftb12305 I'll have it up tonight for sure, something came up and I didn't feel like doing anything.
thanks! im waiting for the v3 too!
Okay might be a while because my Google site page for this got reformatted, and I'm trying to get some other stuff done, this may lead to the early to late am maybe even pm. Because of scripts for not only cm, PAC, and AOKP... But now root box too.... Hope you guys understand.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
So later this night or tomorrow night?
No problem... I might be awake to try this out still...
I don't see any reason to not be patient...
No problem btw what will v3 include?
Sorry for my absence and delay of development, it was due to a family emergency. I'm not home right now, I'm using mobile hotspot while I'm in Daytona for a while. Hopefully I can get this project up. Please be patient while I'm syncing my sources now on my laptop.
To answer your question on what this update will contain: It will contain additional scripts in init.d, as well as a new sysctl script.
OP UPDATE: New Beta is up, not a whole lot of changes till tonight.
Sweet!
Can't wait til it's... Tonight...
For a second there, I was about to ask what's new with this upcoming version... That would have been pretty stupid...

[SHARE]Franco kernel #171+ faux sound control+faux gamma control (My personal build)

Hi.
I didn't find where to share it so people can try it and give feedback or whatever...so I created this thread. I compiled franco kernel with the updated code for the wifi driver (same thing that was done here).
It also modifies libs and config files so do a nandroid backup in case you don't want to use it anymore (use any other kernel...including the original franco kernel) ... or you can use (you have to use[/B]) this to revert to stock driver and pure franco #134 kernel.
Anyway... flashable zip in attached files
Source is here
I just wanted to help so be cool.
And credit to the people that deserved it.... you know who..
Well since the wifi problem is fixed (I think)... I'm just sharing my personal build of franco kernel...it's franco kernel+faux sound+faux gamma control.
Enjoy

Since it changes libs and other stuff you can't just simply flash a new kernel. Have to restore from a backup.
Edit: Forgot to report my results. My internet is 30/5 and with this new kernel I actually get 30/6.5 which is obviously a faster upload than my computer speed tests.
If I flash a new kernel, do the new wifi drivers and such go away?

It's because the changes are not in the mainline yet... so they are still experimental.

The kernel changes I made and the wifi libs and config in rom side need to go together... so if you flash a new kernel only the files in rom side stay.... and your wifi will mess up... so use the revert zip to change kernel but you will lose the fix
