[APP] Voice Search Assistant (formerly Voice Search for Google Now) | DEC 11 | [NEW!] - Paid Software Announcement and Discussion

Only for The Google Now for ICS Project users!
Simple addition for those who use Google Now on Android 4.0 with ARMv6 and want to take advantage of voice recognition. It won't work correctly on older versions of Google Voice Search, and it will not bring Google Now itself to your phone.
You can immediately start the voice recognition (without pressing the button) by holding down Search button for a while. Launcher shortcut is also available.
Changelog

- Tweaked Manifest and minimal API Level to make this available for older devices with custom 4.0 ROMs

Download
On Google Play
APK Mirror is no longer available.

good app..just tried it ..it can be a replacement for the current no voice search
the only small issue i found is ..i need to press enter again in google NOW ..once the words are translated and kept in search box ..to complete the search
(or is this actually not supposed to happen and i missed something ?)

I must have missed that. Will take a look at it

Does not work. Cannot find class com.google.android.voicesearch.IntentApiActivity.
Desire S, latest Theos0o vesion 5 Google Now app installed in /system/bin. Any idea?

agree with ganeshp. have to press enter again after the words are inputted into the search box.
can it be set to start by just pressing the search key and not long hold cause I have set long hold being voice command.

very good app. what happens is that asks you to complete the search options ...
could not be like the google search now on jb???
I guess in the next updates will be made ...
thanks!!!!

It's very good! I wish it spoke back to you tho
Sent from my Kangdemnationed/Jellified Incredible 2

I love the idea of this app - great job! Would it be possible to add voice calling capability?

great share!Thanks for your job.

can you make another option instead of search button since sgs2 has no search button? like long press home or menu button? thanks!
edit: my rom (slimrom) doesn't have long press menu for search

Works fine. I was wondering how I can make this pop up when I hit my search button on my search bar. Right now the search that comes up doesn't use Google now
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app

Thanks for your support! Little update is up, but I've ran out of time for today .
Changelog
1.1:
- App now speaks back to you
- Fixed crash
There is no solution for the "you have to press enter" issue yet. But I will work on it! Other features depend on my time and your donations ).

Nexus One, AOSP 4.0.4, latest Theos0o vesion 5 as system app
Edit: As fof the updated version i can't see it!? Market description still says Version 1.0?
Edit2: You beat me in answering my question before I even asked it!

Just check the updates, I think I fixed that . It might take a few minutes before it gets available on Google Play.
EDIT: Well, it seems that it can take hours... Google Play became very slow in distributing changes lately. Still better than Apple AppStore and BlackBerry AppWorld though :-D.

It is finally available! Please let me know whether it still crashes.

With updated version there is another error. In deed, I can run the application, but the effect is the same, as within standard Google Now: "Didn't catch that!"
I must have something broken in standard voice recognition system, cause it does not work everywhere...
::EDIT:: NEVERMIND. While experimenting with voice input I have removed Voice Search app. After reinstalling everything works. Thanks!

Great to hear

Working so far. The speaks back to you part is simply speaking out my search, not speaking out the answer. e.g.
I say, "what is 10+10", then press search on the keyboard, it will say "searching for what is 10+10" then shows the result of 10+10=20. But it does not speak "10+10=20" is this how it should work?

Yes it is . It's just simple utility I made so I don't have to type everything in, but it does not actually alter Google Now! features. There are ways to improve it and implement some more magic, but I'm not sure it's worth it .

could not be found
this looks awesome but when i try and download it it gives me an oops could not be found or a oops there was a problem try again later message, never seen those before anyone know whats going on?
any chance of posting an apk?
edit: started working

request - TTS ringtone.

Hopefully this is ok to post here since it is a request for dream development. Sorry in advance if this belongs in Q/A or something.
The #1 thing I miss from my old Sanyo dumb-phone was the TTS ringer. When ever I received a call, my phone would:
"beeeep, incoming call from ([name] or "unknown-caller")"
I found this very handy as if my phone was out-of-pocket in my home, I could decide to get off the couch and get it or not without moving a muscle.
I have searched all over for the same basic TTS functionality in both WinMo and now Android but have not found anything.
Is it even possible within the Android system to use the TTS service to speak the contact name on incoming call instead of a ringer?
EDIT: And while I'm posting development requests, I would also like to see an app that lets you re-assign buttons (like vol+/- could page up and down unless there is sound playing, and the camera button which does nothing in Hero could be assigned to launch an app [HTC Camera] or even bring up a menu of apps to select from). They have lots of button programs for WinMo, but I've seen none for android.
I know winmo has this feature as my friend's old tilt had it.
There were a couple apps in the market that announced the name that called but they were not very good. IMO the current TTS in the market sucks, can't even understand it half the time.
I imagine someone could cobble together an application that could sense the ringtone call and hijack the audio, and then just use the TTS library to speak out the name / phone number, with "Incoming call from" prepended. I don't know if that's what the apps are doing. I don't see any apps like that on the market, either.
Search market for:
NameRinger
TalkingCallerID
voicecallerid
who is it
All have their problems. I think only voicecallerid is actually free.
What I did
This is what I did, its a hassle but works. went to
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php
typed the name of my contact downloaded and insert to sd and set as contact ring tone. yeah it suck but u can tweak it with different spelling to make it sound like the actual name. hope it helps
Here you go!
I tought I could do something back for the community so I started a new project =)
The only problem is that I have no visa to pay the registration fee to get this on the market.
I uploaded the apk to http://wilma.vub.ac.be/~lhoste/TTSNotifier.php (!UPDATED)
Based on the open source design of SMSPopup (thx!)
Speaks:
"Incoming call from <NAME>"
name = "unknown" if the number is not found in the contacts
can you start a google code page for this? im sure you can get some support and bug fixes from the community. maybe even one of the devs might upload to their account for you
upload the apk to somewhere else cause we cant access it

My question to you is.. Why stop there?
My teacher once told me... "Why hope to make bridges made of sticks when you can dream of making bridges in the sky?"
Meaning... lets raise the bar.. lets dream bigger... So "Why stop there?"
You want TTS ringer... well I want TTS Notifications linked to any notification I enable.
ex. "Open home download completed", "you have 30 tweets", "USB connected", "You have a text message from XXX, Dictate?"
It may not have artificial intelligence.. but after how many years we have had technology and computers... couldn't we train it to be intelligent for us? You can train a dog to sit... so how come we can't program our phones to verbally say "Plug me in! Battery LOW!", "Open Wifi Signal in range", "So-n-So's birthday is today, bought them a gift?"
That does not require artificial intelligence right?
Why not bring Android toward "Fruition"
Damn... If I had the programming knowledge... I think I'd try this myself...
Sorry, link is fixed now

Keep posting your great ideas. Everyone has a different view on how to make this easier so if we all combine that we can make something great.
I think the usb connected, sms, battery, wifi, birthday is possible. Ill try to extend the app today and open a github.
You can also start making up sentences the phone has to speak because hearing the same stuff all the time makes it boring.

It's probably down to stupidity on my part, but how does the app work?
it installs fine but then it doesn't seem to do anything when someone rings, it just plays my ringtone.
also, does this work on Hero? that could be my problem.
cheers for making this app btw, been looking for something like this for a long time

You should have the TTS Service installed (search for it in the market). When receiving a change in ACTION_PHONE_STATE, it starts a services that takes care of the speech.
Do mind that your 'Media' volume is about equally high as your ringtone volume.

yeah i've got that. Do i need to mess with the settings in it or anything? still just getting my normal ringtone playing.
I had a similar problem. I had to uninstall the TTSRingtone.apk (system/sd/vub.lhoste.ttsringtone.apk), re-install the TTS library (Text To Speech Service on the market) and then re-install the TTSRingtone.apk. After all of this was done, it started working on its own.
Nifty.
new build (and projectname)
Ok, I started to make the TTS notification more global. This means we will try to support more and more.
You can find the new build at:
http://wilma.vub.ac.be/~lhoste/TTSNotifier.php
NOTE: UNINSTALL THE OLD (TTSRingtone!) BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ONE.
I started a new thread so the intrested ppl can follow the changes

I don't know if it's possible to 'unbind' the vol +/- key.. any1 has an idea?
It is possible to use the same structure as TTSNotifier or SMSPopup to capture the cam button press, but since I'm running the cyanogenmod it is occupied and useless to start a 2nd app

I'm sorry, i should have mentioned this. It's completely based on IE
Everybody who couldn't install yet, try this:
1. copy the zune-link i sent you.
2. write a mail to yourself.
3. open it on your phone.
for the 12 folks that are already in i sent a mail to their live-inbox.
hope that solves the installation issue.
Installing got no problem.Try google you tube it's quite fast and manage toplay video without any problem. The only thing I must get used to the tab.Well so far there's not any bug yet .
When I make a new tab it seems I can't search when I type xda developers it says ERROR Invalid url.I think every tab that we make if possible make to the home page.

BETA tester
My response from BETA-testing. (Note: Even if you have posted some bugs I'll still fill my list with what I experience)
Phone: LG Optimus 7
Status: Works perfectly!
My current status: Stopped BETA testing.
Positive:
100% fullscreen
Customization!
Live tile with information about current session!!
Slide up the URL tab on fullscreen to get to normal view without fullscreen.
Fast web browser
Share page function (lovely!!)
It's now my official MAIN browser!
-
-
Things to maybe improve & suggestions:
First startpage is google.de, could have been google.com (but nothing special actually)
Maybe you could make your own videoplayer to play eg. youtube videos on, instead of using the phone's player (not required since the videoplayer of the phone is also good)
Also have the abillity to press the favorites url instead of only the visit button at the bottom. But keep it.
Maybe slide with 2 or 3 fingers down on the screen for entering/exiting fullscreen mode?
-
-
Negative and or Currently found bugs:
When entering fullscreen mode, it's hard to get back to regular. I had to tap like 5 times on the black button at the bottom left. (hard to use the button)
If the application opens without internet connection it will say ERROR, no network available. But it does say it when I change to other menus such as settings (keep spamming ERROR everywhere)
Theres no suggestion of websites when entering a url for eg. if you enter www.fa it could show up some suggestions like facebook or failblog.
-
I'll edit this post with more when I find
thanks for that wonderful feedback, so much inspiration
some response to the bugs:
- i'm currently working on the suggestionlist, shouldn't be that difficult.
- for the fullscreen-button i got a new solution, what should make it much
easier.
- the Network-check must be fixxed, thanks for your discovery.
@Ttblondey: search function is now included
I have given my review here and video review here.
Overall I found the app to be very nice and smooth. A good alternative for sure but there are few things you can look into except the bugs which is already reported.
1) One is integration with skydrive for syncing bookmarks etc.
2) More Gestures
3 ) Open up option for both Google and Bing as search engine.
4 ) cookie turn on and off.
Rest is all good, keep us rolled in beta.

Please read the first post carefully
I would like a "Search for text" function in the functions menu Would be awesome to be able to search for words on a page
And else I can say that I'm really happy with the browser, works well, and hopefully soon releasing? Because then you could like update with small minor updates incase something is needed
Happy New Year roqstr!
there's a search for text function ;O it's just not my own at the moment, a provisional solution,if you will
Yea, but i always find features that shouldn't be missing in the release-version, to make it working right
next week i'll be busy with school, shouldn't fail my exams
afterwards, i'd be able to release an open beta, just for some extra feedback
next step is fixing last issues and then i'll release ;P
if somebody do have experience with apphub, pubcenter & co, he can pm me to help me understanding
thanks, hope you all enjoyed New Year's Eve, i did ;P
Still waiting to test this thing
it looks nice, can't wait for release :O
I wrote a browser, based on IE its in my signature.
I'll be happy to test your browser and get better result to my and your app.
Biggest issue at the moment is the picture-viewer, but I hope I can handle this soon.
@sma6871: I'll test it and message you when I have questions or suggestions.
Unfortunately I forget to set trial mode, but now I send a trial mode enable update, and it will be up to date soon.
open beta out now. read 1st post!
Here is my feedback :
1.Dropdown to switch between search engines
2 Where did Advance Main Colour Gone ?
3. When I try yo change Main Colour Accent Colour it gives me sorry message "You Should not Overwrite the accent style"
4. Find Text Crashes the app
5. You can think of ignoring pics which are of very small size in the Picture view.
6. Picture viewer also picks up YouTube thumbnail as picture but does not display anything.

[Q] Changing the "Google Now" voice, possible?

I'm a big fan and user of computer generated speech, have been since oh, the early 1980s when S.A.M. first appeared for the Commodore series of computers, and it's been nice to see the progression from that truncated truly "computer sounding" speech to what we have nowadays. In my opinion, the best "voices" yet created are produced by Ivona and my favorite at the moment is the Amy British female voice. Just something about that Brit accent (and yes I know it's not an accent, I'm just saying...).
Anyway, I'm using the Ivona Amy beta - Ivona's Android voices seem to be in a perpetual beta going on 2+ years now, go figure) and it can be assigned as the default voice for most everything in Android: turn by turn navigation, reading eBooks, etc, but for some unfathomable reason the default voice used for Google Now is still the rather crappy robotic sounding female one. It's not bad, mind you, but it most definitely ain't Amy, not by a very very long shot.
I've done some research but unfortunately every time I use the search terms "Google Now" and "voice" - even with quotation marks in all variations - all I end up finding is info about Google Voice for the most part and no actual mentions or info about making any installed voice data usable as the replacement for the voice you here when you use Google Now.
Yes I'm aware that Google Now has several different voices to choose from, from different countries, but it does not "see" the Ivona voice installed nor is it something I can apparently force into action.
Does anyone know if switching out the default voice with Google Now is even possible? I'd love to use Amy as the default one device-wide for any and all text-to-speech purposes. It does seem a bit odd that Google is restricting this in whatever manner they happen to be using, unless of course it's something much simpler to alter than I'm understanding. I have gone into the Google Now settings - Voice - and made alterations and I do get other voices, just not the Ivona Amy one that I currently have installed.
If anyone has any info or suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing it, thanks.

The "other voices" you mention: are they user-installed or stock with Google Now? If user-installed is the case, is it possible that "Amy" is on extSdCard and the others are local? I know this is a long-shot...

The other voices are region based like US UK etc and part of Google Now. I'm not having much luck getting the Ivona voice(s) recognized as something I can assign in place but I'll keep at it.

Of course, that was the first thing, and then a reboot, then the attempt to change the setting in Google Now directly but, I suppose Google just wants people to hear the robotic-like voice they apparently have forced on us as a default. Oh well...

Hi, Other*voices are region based like US UK etc and part of Google Now. Try to change the global TTS under Settings > Language and Input?
Doesn't make any difference that I can make note of: Google Now just has its own set of voices and regardless of what TTS engine/voices you have installed it's going to apparently use that default one built-in.
Still looking around for more info, however.
Still no relief from Google's robot voice in sight?
only control over the voice ive found is to change your language setting within the app itself to UK to get a male voice. supposedly the actual UK got an update to a female brit voice which would be preferable. cant believe google wouldnt incorporate custom tts into this app. might have to be brought to their attention for a later version release.
youd think there would be dedicated voice repository for the google voice search app and that you could theoretically change the name of or reroute the voice command to a custom tts default.
any thoughts?
so i found a beta version of a speech command app based off google now. it's called utter. allows you to choose speech program and voice. also has additional features not found on google now from the looks of it. initiate listening via icon tap in shortcuts on the home screen. different setup but looks promising. hope this helps

Of you're rooted with titanium backup installed you could always try freezing Google tts and selecting ivona in language and input settings, I used to do that to change the voice of svoice to ivona when I had my note 2 and 3, haven't tried it for Google now though
Settings > My Device > Language and Input > Text-to-Speech Options >>> Select Google Text-to-Speech Engine
Then click on the "settings gear" icon to the right and select Llanguage and select your language. Then go to "Install Voice Data" and install the voice you want.
Has anyone figured this out?
Or are we stuck with using only Google's various voices from around the world, when we want to use Google Now?
Heck, I even uninstalled Google TTS so that only my 3rd party TTS voice was showing up in the options. And Google Now still managed to use its own voice for Google Now.
2015 and still google doesn't use androids architecture possibilities into google now. stuck with horror Spanish google voice that makes me wanna kill myself...
Please google. Aply common sense and let Now use systems preferred voice engine.
In Maps I have a similar issue since sometimes I get IVONA (my choice) and some other times I get Google's in the same travel... Anyone with the same issue?
Anyone ever thought about writing an app that would take in speech, feed it to google now, getting results as text and "saying" the results using the built in TTS settings?
That would be awesome, still didnt found such APP. Isnt such thing possible with Tasker?

[APP][5.0+]AndroidAuto carNotifier (Multi-language and Email support)

Beta 1.0 released
I will like to start saying a very big thank you to @bggold who asked me to consider this in the first place
While there isn't any way to use the nice Google Assistant voice, and it's still rough around the edges, this demonstrates how we can use Android Auto in a multi-lingual environment as well as how to read out and reply emails.
The concept is very simple, instead of relaying on Android Auto to read out the notifications I have created a small app which mimics that behaviour, with some extras:
1) It try to do a language detection for each test, and use the appropriate TextToSpeech
2) It allows the user to select which app notification does he/she want's to read
3) If the content is really long (like a lengthy email) the app will prompt the user if it want's to go ahead with the message readout or not
4) If notification supports quick-reply the app will prompt the user for a reply (in the same language as the the original message)
Planning to support a lot of languages but there I will need user input, I have translated the basic strings to around 70 languages using Google translator, but I can tell it's not quite right (I can see with the languages I do speak)
Best part, app won't be affected by 3rd party restriction at all and it won't require root either, however I'm pretty sure Google will not allow it on the PlayStore
Beta version available now on XDA Labs.
App will be payable, however current beta is free so grab a copy while you can
To use the app you will need to enable unknown sources in Android Auto, simply open Android Auto, go to About, tap the "About Android Auto" header 10 times till you become a developer, then from the 3 dotted right menu select developer options and enable "Unknown sources"

Thanks for making this app!
After first start it asked for notification permission and then it was gone to build the list of installed apps/services - endless...
So I've forced close the app after minutes, went to app info/permissions, and enabled unselected permissions for it.
After that the app works now, as it should!
I'll test the functionality today while using AA in my car.

Thanks. It was 3 am )) updating the app now.
This is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. Using Samsung S9 plus running Oreo. Gave read permission to the app, enabled developer settings on Android Auto, enabled unknown sources, enabled whatsapp and Gmail.
Whatsapp notifications haven't changed and it continues to read the foreign text in English. Gmail notifications don't pop up at all.
Any suggestions?

Not sure if you saw but there is a new release. It fixes this issue. Just remember to reboot after updating.
Unfortunately I have the same problem as @yavuzyay. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge with Android 7.0 and Carnotifier Beta v3.
Thanks to @yavuzyay for bugreport and Turkish language input.
I have identified the problem where the app was crashing in case you where using AA on the phone only, and this has been now fixed.
@CeldeSuS - Are you phone only or are you using AA on the car? If phone only, download the new beta 1.4

I'm using AA on the car (Alpine X802D-U head unit). I'll try the new beta anyway and report back.
Awesome. Works perfectly.
V4 work fine with SM960F(android 8.0) & RLink1 !
Great job!
Very good stuff!
I use it with the now playing feature - basically phone picks up music on the radio,.detects the song and artist and throws a notification. This app picks that up and shows it as a notification on the car screen! I have disabled read out. So it stays as a simple notification.
Quick question - haven't been able to try it - if I set zero seconds as the duration, will it leave the notification forever?
Tested but not working as expected. Line is an application which doesn't support Android Auto.
Positive: Yes, Car Notifier shows there is a message on Line.
Negative: Can't do anything, it won't read the message, the notification stays in grey color and nothing happens when I click on the message.
Cheers

You can't click the notification to have it read at this time. If you want them read to you enable the read option.
"Read out notifications" is enabled in the settings, my Honda headunit is hacked and I have root access, so I don't think this is related to that.

I'm sure you have but have you checked all the permissions?
CarNotifier asks only permissions to Microphone and Phone, both are granted.
Wondering now whether it has something to do with the new Android Auto v3.8.584554 where some on Reddit claim, that notification is broken
Cheers
Tom
Edit: Maybe the the new AA version interferes with CarNotifier, because AA can show now also message preview
More edit: My friend tested on the Samsung S7 (I have a OnePlus 3T). Also on his mobile nothing happens with Line.
Can't read out and nothing happens in AA when click on it
Is there an app for Speed cams like in your obd2aa app, to have only the speed cam notification?

I am running the new aa and it is working. Get Emil a bug report right after it happens.
The only thing you can do at this time is swip away the notifications. Clicking them will not do anything.
Thanks
After more testing, I do believe the culprit is Line. Gmail works as expected, Facebook also (just for test).
However, Line refuses, which is actually the reason to install the program in the first place.
Probably one of the few programs which won't work.
Great program though.
Cheers

Hi guys.
I'm finally back in the UK and in front of my PC, I've also managed to tied up quiet a few of my loose ends and I have no big project starting this year. I will dedicated the last 2 weeks of this years to the following:
1) Looking into fixing some of the FC for obd2aa, also try to find a solution for non-standard PIDs
2) Get AA GateWay to Beta/Stable version (most work needs to be done on this app)
3) Fix some issues and FC with HUR (including Waze sound cut off).
4) Get the carNotifier to a stable version.
January and February are again fully booked so I will focus on stability rather then adding new features especially because obd2aa and HUR and fairly mature apps with most of the functions already covered.
For some reason I'm not really getting any notifications from XDA and being a lot on the road I don't visit the site too often lately, therefore I will kindly ask you if you need support, please email me directly to [email protected].

[GUIDE] Google Assistant Voice

Hi everyone,
I thought I would post this as a separate thread for the Tasker project I have started working on. Please see below information and if you have any questions or development ideas for the project, please comment back!
Please Try The New Google Drive link below. I am aware of sharing issues at the moment, I am unsure why this is happening but please try the new link and let me know!
This will listen for "Ok, Google" or "Hey, Google" IF the screen is on and proximity sensor is not covered - this is incase it is triggered in your pocket like it kept doing for me! ?
There's also a task in this project which you can create a tasker task shortcut widget to toggle the Hotword plugin on and off.
This task requires to have AutoInput installed, from the AutoApps made by Taskers developer. You can have it free on a 24hr basis by watching a video though.
Following people's comments about push notification issues, such as Gmail, I've included a "fix" which is a timed event profile which runs a simple task to turn auto sync off and on - this then tricks syncing process and gives you push notifications for Gmail and other Google apps.
It is currently set at 4 hours, to save battery but feel free to change to what ever you need by editing the profile event.
Required Apps:
Tasker
Hotword Tasker Plugin
Working Google Apps/Services on device.
Google Assistant app
Profile Optional Apps:
AutoInput
AutoNotification
Firstly, install "Hotword Tasker Plugin".
[url]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.jolanrensen.hotwordPluginFree[/URL]
Then, install Tasker if you don't already have it. This is a paid app, but totally worth it when you have a look at it.
Also, download the tasker project file I have made for this. See below changelog and download links!
Open the Hotword Plugin app, click the red + circle at the bottom, choose both Google options - so you have "Ok, Google" and "Hey, Google" and press OK.
Edit both options and turn off the "Play ding sound" option. I found it annoying anyway as Google makes its own noise.
Then, click app settings on top right, choose "start listening on boot".
After this, you can click "microphone service" to ON Position, top right of the screen.
This starts the plugin and at same time it interrupts Huawei "Celia" from listening I found.
Then, import Tasker project "Google Hotword" that you have downloaded.
To do this, open Tasker, click the house icon in the bottom, left corner. Then, click "Import Project", navigate to where you've downloaded the project file to and select the file.
Then, soon as that's added, try "Hey, Google" or "Ok, Google". At this point it should all be working!
Changelog:
Version 1.0.3:
Changed action for HotwordPlugin from launching a Voice Command to launching Assistant instead, as it was launching then Google / Voice Command was redirecting itself to a Google news feed page with search bar, thus stopping the voice input.
Version 1.0.2:
Added profile to detect if camera is opened as it interferes with apps which audio, i.e video recording.
**This profile requires AutoNotification to be installed as a plugin, part of AutoApps by Taskers Dev.**
Version 1.0.1:
Scrap all other links, I hadn't put the profile in to the project so no idea if it had it included in the previous exports but try this one guys ?

Where did you get stuck, maybe I can help.
I apologise for long replies but I don't usually do things like this anymore.

I have followed all the steps but still could not activate the voice.
My device has been upgraded recently to EMUI 11.0 (Beta), i'll try again if it's work this time.
Is there possibility to make it work when screen is off?

No, unfortunately, due to the limitations of the Hotword Plugin permissions it can't work with the screen off.
If you wish to raise that as feedback to the developer of the plugin, maybe they will research this, but it's out of my hands to be honest.
