[75% OFF][Screen & Full body protectors][PIX] XtremeGUARD SALE sitewide - Nexus 7 Accessories

EDIT: NOTE(s): When you receive these they come packaged in a generic mailer envelope, nothing fancy, no retail packaging. Important, the packaging may contain "black specs", make sure you rinse super thoroughly before attempting to install or you will get these stuck under the protector and be sad. Once you've got it lined up and installed, let it dry, it may make your device non-responsive to touch. It seems the N7 has very little margin/sensitivity and the liquid impairs electrostatic conductivity and doesn't register touches with most wet application protectors until it's 100% dry. It should work without issues after 24/48 hours depending on your climate.
FOLLOWUP: Here's a picture of mine installed and drying about 36 hours later.

Man, I ordered a screen protector a few days ago for $9 from their ebay store. Now it's 1/3 of the price for TWO...oh well, guess I'll stock up.

Can you vouch for these being good screen protectors? Do they have the orange peel effect or anything?

There is very minimal orange peel with these screen protectors IMO. With these, I have to get it at just the right angle under a light to even notice it on my Galaxy Nexus. They are miles better than zagg when I tried them. I would say they are very similar to xo skins, but cost a lot less. For $3.75, you'll get two of them now. You don't have much to lose .

+1 for less than the cost of lunch at McDonalds you can have two shipped to you.
Most important of all is the type and quantity of the soap you use to install, use as little as possible, as it may cloud, rainbow and or leave permanent gray bubble marks on the protector if it's too strong and left to soak too long. I do not notice any orange peel effect, it's comparable to Skinomi in feel and effect. *Zagg brand has this problem, I still have my Nook Color one sealed in it's pack I was considering using on the N7. Although it only covers the touch/screen portion. Lucky I didn't have to. And it cost me $24.
I will say that it's a matter of personal preference. If you're not a fan of wet install, rubbery feel, loss of some clarity (think semi-anti-reflective) for protection. This may take time to get used to, but at least at this price you can test that.. YMMV
Truthfully I would have bought Skinomi if they would have been this cheap, this is the next best option. IMHO.
Hope that helps,

P.S. I have these installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Atrix 4G and bought some for my Samsung Focus as well. I got a dozen of these for the SGS3 at 80% OFF when it was released. I have installed it on a workmate's SGS3 and will install them on two others once they get theirs.

How would one apply the it to the back of the Nexus which has those dimples?

It sticks. I personally wouldn't bother with protecting the back with a skin, it's really resilient. But I am going to get an ultra thin TPU case once they become available.

Thanks for the information, I bought two for the nexus, two for my new EVO and one for my wife's GSII

Nice, I hope they work out for you as they have for me. Remember if you have any problems for any reason with them, you can contact their customer service which offers you replacement or no hassle refund. I know this as I had an issue with my initial order missing the back portions of the full body and they actually sent me out my replacement order twice and still offered me a refund if I chose.

So the loss in clarity is just that it's a little more reflective, not an actual decrease in vibrancy and color? If that's it, I'll definitely be ordering a few. That's a price for generic protectors and if these are high quality it's a bargain. Either way, it has to be better than the horrible universal one I cut out that I bought at Walmart that I, ironically, paid $15 for.

thanks for the info! I used the code and 2 for 3.75 is great! I've never heard of the company but for that price I'm willing to try them. For my phones I've used steinheil and ghost armor (had it on my gnex but took it off because i like how it looks without it) but ghost armor is clear too. I might put one back on the gnex since i have 3 more haha. either way thank for the info

I purchased few.
Thank you

pciked up two ^_^

Awesome! I picked up several protectors for everyone I know!

I just ordered about 30mins ago one for my Nexus 7 and Droid 3 but the code didn't go through. Sent an email off to them because it won't let me edit the order I hope I can get the code applied cause that would save $13 lol
Edit: Emailed me back super fast and cancelled. This seems like a great company already, can't wait to get the screen protectors (ex. Zagg user)

I picked up the screen protectors that are sold through Sprint. They were $14.99and there were three in the pack.

My local BB didn't have any either... but they weren't sold out. The guy told me they hadn't gotten any in yet. I didn't find it on BB's website either.
Last week I sent a support ticket to Zagg via their website asking when it would be available. No answer yet. =/
Does anyone know if the Zagg for the Evo 4G was available in retail stores right when the phone launched? Or did it take a few weeks?
i'll be picking up an invisibleshield as soon as they're out. i'm not too worried about my screen getting scratched since i dedicate one of my pants pockets to it
Is the screen gorilla glass?
i don't think so, otherwise HTC would've specifically said so.
The HTC EVO Shift 4G LCD's compostion is not Corning's Gorilla Glass/CGG. Currently, the Motorola i1 and Samsung EPIC 4G are the only two wireless devices in the Sprint Nextel product line to use CGG. Head over to http: // www dot corninggorillaglass.com/ to learn more about the innovative technology of CGG and why over time I believe all wireless devices will be equipped in it.
Best buy does have them. I went to one today to get the zagg and a case. They at first said no to both. I said that's lame, you're usually right on top of that kind of stuff. I looked and found the zaggs but I needed to use the phone the rest of the day and putting it in and out of my pocket wouldn't be good because the sp needs to dry without any major disruptions to the process. I got the blue hard case with the rubber back at sprint and will get the zagg very soon.
Here's something interesting... Zagg just got back to me about the status of the invisibleSHIELD...

My previous BestBuy search failed since it doesn't say "Evo" in the product title/description. But it's definitely not a screen protector for the HTC Shift ultra-portable PC from 2008.
EDIT: Please excuse the missing hyperlink. Us n00bs can't be trusted.
I got this phone on the 6th and nobody had any anti-glare protectors, which i absolutely love on my phone. So i went to who sold them and searched out the best sized one. Came to the anti-glare Droid 2, just need to cut the volume cutout off and its a good fit. Just covering the screen, not the buttons.

They don't make or carry them eh?
paid for one on bb.com and picked it up in store since i knew nobody would know wtf it is. put it on, i either really suck at putting these on or they're insanely hard to get perfect.
I tried one over a year ago and it was such a pain that I decided to pay them to do it. Depending on the person, they can get it better than most other people can. I had them mess up one on my epic and they just pulled another one off the shelf and redid it. Not flawless but pretty damned good and much better than I could have done.
well i'll let it settle for a day or two and see if microbubbles and the liquidy look underneath the protector go away. if not i might just be taking this thing off, it's more trouble than it's worth and i bought it with a gift card anyway.
I've used Zagg and Skinomi. Skinomi hands down.

i was just about to ask how the Skinomi TechSkins are, amazon has them for 10 bucks (well for pre-order) and was thinking of giving them a try, i usually use the Zagg protectors but am willing to try something new
The TechSkin is about the same as far as application goes. Where they differ is the feel and resistance to dust.

I applied the Sprint anti-glare protector, and it looked horrible. I know some of them take a little time to git rid of air bubbles and stuff, but it looked bad and I accidentally messed one corner up when applying. So I put one of the regular protectors from the same pack on and it has been fine ever since.
I do wish it covered more of the glass, not just the part of the glass with the screen under it.
I bought some of those screen protectors from Sprint also. I'm pretty good with putting them on, so that wasn't a problem at all. But wow, I put the anti-glare screen protector on and it made the screen look horrible. It really takes the "crispiness" out of the screen. When I got home, I immediately took that one off and put one of the regular screen protectors on that came in the sprint screen shield package.
I put the anti-glare protector on pretty much as soon as I started playing with the phone. After reading your guys comments I decided to take it off.

First, that's not a Samsung Galaxy NOTE stylus. That's a Samsung Galaxy Tab stylus which is an entirely different technology. The Note's stylus is an active stylus capable of things like pressure sensitive writing with a fine tip (as opposed to the other sausage-tipped styli that just pretend they're your finger).
As far as the difference between the ones you point out go.... performance varies from person to person and device to device, so you've really just got to try some and see if they work well with the Nexus and your particular writing style. Just make sure that the tip is firm enough that the body of the pen can't hit the screen while you write.
And if you're hoping that writing with any capacitive stylus will be just like writing with a real pen....then neither of them will be good for you since they can't handle that type of precision (you usually need to write large letters that programs shrink down). The type of styli used with the Galaxy Note are the only ones that can actually handle this, but there aren't any for use with the Nexus.
I'm using the Kensington Virtuoso Touch, there are a couple of threads on this forum giving links to reviews of various styluses that tell you why the better ones are 'better'.
I'm using these (In the picture) with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 which both have xtreme guard screen protectors on them. They work perfectly. They aren't pressure sensitive or anything extravagant like that, but they write well and draw well. That's what I was looking for. I like that I can lose them and it doesn't matter since they are dirt cheap.
I purchased these in an 8 pack. 4 Large and 4 small for my phone. They are all identical in build quality which is good. Made out of aluminum.
I also own a few other stylus (Bamboo, Cosmonaut) which are good but compared to price/performance for me, these are the best I've used.

Yea don't waste your money on a stylus outside of a few bucks. I almost purchased a $20 stylus at Microcenter then while checking out, they had the exact same one for $3. I tested both and both felt the same.
Outside of acting like I can draw anything good on a tablet (or on paper for that matter) they are a fad. I also don't take notes with a pen.
Just invest money in a good keyboard from the market and practice thumb typing. Or buy a little Bluetooth thumb keyboard off eBay for $5 which also doubles as a handy gamepad for emulators.
Capacitive screens just aren't good for fine tuned motor skills required for writing. The tablets that have pens like the Note use a combination of technologies that let it be much more precise.
I also think the pens come separate and cost a good chunck of change (~$50?). The HTC Flyer does it that way. I just can't see writing with a stylus on a 5" screen.

to be honest, they are almost the same, i emailed amazon back and want to return the stylus, told them that it felt no different than the 1 dollar one my buddy got, they told me to keep it and will give me my money back, i told the csr that it won't be necessary and they issued the credit anyway
i don't recommend anyone doing this with the intention of asking amazon for a refund but they did do the right thing for me

I'm not gonna lie, I bought one of those dollar store styluses yesterday and... Using my Nexus 7 is a LOT more fun with a stylus than without. I was pleasantly surprised
I've had the Kensington for a couple of weeks now and I'm using it more and more, it's really fast and accurate for typing, keeps the fingerprints down and the inbuilt Parker pen is great.

[Q] Tips for going Caseless?

Does anyone have advice regarding going about using the HTC One without a case, naked and out in the world, without utterly destroying the phone due to scratches, dings and dents?
I pre-ordered my HTC One 64 gb on contract and Im considering selling it in december and buying whatever Nexus phone google is offering in november off contract, and judging by the nexus 4, the price point shouldnt be too bad.
My tip is don't !

If you want to go caseless, your best bet is to install something like the Skinomi full body shield. It should provide protection against scratch on the body.
get a clear case/bumper
I tried going caseless for sgs3, n2, and nexus 4.
Random scratches here and there. Not worth it!
So what If it scratches. You won't notice them when the screen is on anyway.
a pouch
I'm with you in that it seems a dreadful shame to cover up such a beautiful piece of design.
Personally my solution is to use a leather pouch - protected when I'm not using it and all it's caseless glory when I am

your losing resale value of the device
Same here, hate using cases for my phones. Went caseless with One X, then S3 then Note 2, Xperia Sola, then 4s, then Nexus 4, then back to One X (I know, I change phones a lot and now I'm planning to get the One ). What I did was buy those full body screen protectors, I used Zagg for the rear and sides, but used the Spigen ones on the screen so that I wouldn't even feel or see any screen protector on the screen.
I sold all my other phones (except N4 and Sola) near the real value I bought it because it still looks and feels so brand new and until now, none of my buyers have complained (I give them an opportunity to test the phones for a week first, if they need help with something, I help them to the best I can, and if they don't like the phone, I give them a full refund, but I ask for a free snack)

I've been fortunate enough to have not dropped my last 3 phones while caseless.
It used to happen when I would get out of the car, so now the phone is either in my pocket or in my hand when I get in/out of the car.
I always have a back screen protector so that the back won't scratch when it lays on the table.
Keys and change in right pocket, phone in left.
Other than that, keep a tight grip!

It's lovely naked, it's really is, people should have to pay to see it, it's like a peep show!
I'll be getting a pouch very, very soon... until then, I'm holding it like a baby!
This is the million dollar dilemma every time!
I HATE cases, the phone is designed to be held and felt as it is, not with a case that makes it twice the size (some don't I know...)
A pouch kind of helps here, but then if you are using the device and you drop it, I have yet to see a pouch that spots it has been dropped and quickly attaches itself to avoid damage

Everyone saying use a pouch for when the phone is not in use lol. U do know the most damage done to a phone is from dropping it right? You can't drop a phone thats putaway. You can when you are holding it. So pouch doesnt actually make a difference.

It's scratch proof. I have a 1-year-old One X and it has maybe 2 micro scratches on the screen. Almost immaculate and the same as an Xperia on the second day. lol
Edit: Also not sure how could you dent/scratch a phone in your pocket?!

Everyone saying use a pouch for when the phone is not in use lol. U do know the most damage done to a phone is from dropping it right? You can't drop a phone thats putaway. You can when you are holding it. So pouch doesnt actually make a difference.

thats only semi true when you are carrying around taking it out from your pocket etc its always in the pouch
but if you drop while using it yes its true
so a pouch is kinda of half protection and protects against the element in pocket/ bag etc
I have one instance though a sharp object went inside the pouch I put my phone on... I'm not sure how many days it has been on the pouch but it scratched my phone like hell. I thought it was dust or something on my hands when it's dirty until I felt it when I was holding the pouch and meh! A little stone made it inside.
I recommend these. They aren't out yet for the One but should be soon. I used them on my One X for nine months and never had an issue. They are wet apply and shrink when dry so tightly that you can feel the raised lettering in the Beats logo. Their shiny though which may not appeal to every one.

Here's a One X with them on...

A lanyard would be good for preventing drops. Unfortunately, there is no obvious attachment point.

First come first serve, preferably free cases to someone who doesn't have a case and actually needs it. Shoot me a message. I'll update with posts below as things go. Will have pics up soon of the ones I'm selling

I know it's against the rules to sell anything on the forums. But you should be good on the giveaways.
Also if you decide to giveaway the otter box I'd love to have it so I have a super protective option.
U got any more cases

I knew I wasn't "crazy" and alone in having 3 or 4 cases usually for my phones for the particular need I have at that day/moment. Powered cases, hard cases and cases that are somewhat "my children proof". I've had, mm, 8 or 9 Android devices, maybe more and the kids have managed to spill or pour drinks on 5 of them. My 1 year old even threw (literally threw) my HTC ONE X into a bucket of water.. Plop.. HA, oops.. Counting, XOOM can't be mobile, needs to be connected to power to work after water spillage on it. 2 Nexus 7s (2012 models, my 2013 model is hands off) don't have working USB plugs now, but I can charge them via the dock and POGO pins. A Samsung Galaxy S was water damaged, wifi doesn't work, forget if sim card works. Some motorola phone that was given to us was stepped on and yet again, water spilled, for some reason my kids love mixing water and android devices. Yet they can spend 'a good time' using them for Youtube and kids games, 2 + 4 year old are their ages now. Have been Android user since 1 + 2 respectively :good:
I've only got the case that came with the international M8 and bought some ebay HK "genuine leather" case that will let me put it at various viewing angles and fold up like a wallet/purse thing so I _hope_ that manages to keep my kids at bay. May this phone be the first one that doesn't go for a swim! Oh, I hosed my LG G2, 'somehow'', use FreeGee to backup EFS, tried a particular radio, no good, did a 'simple restore'. Phone was hosed, EFS was corrupt or dead, or whatever. It was giving boot loops, constant reboots once in ROMs that worked, no wifi/sim.
I finally have it at a state, it is in either a LG or KK ROM as I want, 20 minutes to restore JB Stock ROM or so, and upgrade if wanted, but no radio/sim/wifi which sometimes reboots. I'll play with it if and when I finally find myself not glued to the M8 at any true spare time (No kids, not on motorbike, not doing stuff with tablets or PC). Hopefully, August, heh heh heh.

It is against the rules to sell on XDA. Please use swappa to sell devices or accessories.

ClearPlex 'Custom' Screen Protector from Best Buy

Alright, so basically Best Buy Canada claims to do a sort of custom screen protector installation for various devices including smartphones using something called ClearPlex. I am thinking about trying it on my S7 Edge when I get it but the protector costs $29.99 and I can't seem to find any reviews of ClearPlex or the ClearPlex Ultra variant (the one for curved screens) anywhere. Have any of you heard of this? I'll include the links below which are to the Best Buy Canada website (they seem to be the only ones who have it).

Thanks for sharing. I actually just found that thread on Google after posting this lol. Still wondering if anybody has tried the Ultra on an S7 or S6 edge.
Had this done March 11th when I picked up the phone. So far so good. Very clear and clean install. Took about 15-20 mins as the tech was very careful. No visible bubbles or edges peeling. It has lifetime warranty as well. Using a spider slim armor case with it and no issues so far.
Worth it to protect this expensive device.

Thank you so much for sharing! Alright I think I'm going to get it the moment I get my phone. You got the clearplex ultra right?
Not sure if it's the ultra or not. It was clear plex and was cut specifically for the phone. They charge according to the size of the device. Hopefully I don't ever need to use the warranty but read somewhere else that others have used it with no issue.
Still think it's cheap insurance for an already expensive phone. If you have seen some other threads about cracked screens and the back. Don't know if it will prevent that but hoping it will help.
I had a ballistic glass from tech armor on my old s4 and it saved my phone numerous times. My screen was actually cracked in the end but still worked because of that extra glass keeping it together.

HD vs Ultra
CLEARPLEX HD
Device screens only
Best for flat surfaces
Glassy touch
Impact protection
Scratch-resistant coating
Great for use with a stylus
Amazing optical clarity
CLEARPLEX ULTRA
Device screens and body protection
Good for curved and flat surfaces
Softer touch
Impact protection
Self-healing technology
Optimal protection against scratches and abrasions
I'd like HD if they could make it work well, the "glassy touch" sounds good.
Michael, can you check your receipt to see which you got, and talk about the feel/smoothness, and how it affects gliding your finger on the screen?
Thanks!

Also, can't figure out what's warrantied...reads like the ClearPlex protector is warrantied, no guarantees about the phone screen.
So I went ahead to gave ClearPlex a try - on my receipt it says Ultra. It goes for 29.99 before tax. I figure if I'm going to spend $30 on film protector online (i.e Spigen / Olixar / etc), I might as well get someone else to do it !!
The installation itself is quite fast, I'd say 5-10 minutes. The GeekSquad person will custom cut the film and install it meticulously (you can see from afar).
Overall I'm actually satisfied and feel that $30 is worth every penny
- Install aesthetic: I'd say I'm very impressed at the install quality. Installing film protector itself is a pain, let alone on an edge phone! Nonetheless, they did a good job with both sides sticking properly. No bubble / no misalignment whatsoever. They did proper job.
- Edge functionality: No effect at all. When swiping on the side, cudn't tell if theres a screen protector. Screen protector covers all edge screen area.
- Feel: Quite smooth! ClearPlex claims to be even more smoother than glass. No rubbery feel
Overall, I'm very happy with the process, price and tht it comes with lifetime warranty status. I mean, rather than buying $30 film protector online and trying to install at home ... I'd go get ClearPlex.
Of course it's only a bonus that ClearPlex is a well known glass protector film which is used in automotive / industrial / construction project.
Going to do this tomorrow. I'll post results...very hopeful it will turn out as good as yours. Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like this has limited availability across regions...my local (SoCal) BB doesn't have it, and doesn't know of any local stores that do. I'm going to do a little checking around, but might not be available here in California.
I just had this installed on my 7 edge and so far i'm loving it. How can it not be great, it's from "outer space".

I think it might be Canada only considering the only BestBuy links I can find are on the Canadian version of the site. Sorry my American Android bro. I've updated the wording in the op to reflect this.
