About S-OFF - HTC Sensation XL

Just to see things clear: reading the first post from Fardjad here, it seems that I can have a S-OFF hboot for my device just by downloading it from unlimited and pushing it to my SXL via adb. Am I right? I'm on 1.28 hboot, unlocked bootloader and got root. But my phone is still S-ON. Can I get S-OFF just by doing what stated here?
Thanks

Short answer - yes
Long answer - yeeeeeeeeees

Understood, tx
So I don't have to do anything else. Then this means Fardjad script is no longer necessary (though credit still go to him for being the first one to reach S-OFF on SXL), since on unlimited you can pick up even older hboot with S-OFF and push it via adb, right?

Yep, just remember to choose the protected Hboot, that will stop RUUs and such overwriting bootloader, you will also need to relock bootloader, if you want to flash any official updates and RUU's, but once you have S-Off you can relock bootloader and device will still act as if it's unlocked

Ok, last but not least: do I have to flash the stock recovery before pushing the modified hboot? Or is it necessary only to go back to stock? Or even in both situations? I'm about to think that a stock recovery is needed whenever I have to go through a hboot swapping, is this correct?
Many many thanks

The new ones, on unlimited.io, dont require stock rom or recovery, it was the method fardjab was using that needed stock recovery

If you don't unlock bootloader you will don't take root.
There no other way. Only unlocking.
thx!
ok! But then after that I must downgrade HBOOT necessarily subscribe or else play a Recovery?
I have to install a custom rom on it inevitable?
You dont need downgrade hboot. Only install the recovery.
You need made that.
Download custom rom what you want to install and put it to your sdcard.

To go back to the original custom recovery, you would need to relock the bootloader (put the phone in fastboot mode and type in command "fastboot oem lock"). After you relock the bootloader, you will need to flash the correct RUU stock rom for your phone.
By doing this, the recovery goes automatically back to is original version.
If I can remember, when unlocking the bootloader, all your phone settings go back to its original settings (factory reset).
Please someone correct me if I am wrong!

Dont know if you found the answer but I had a similar issue.
Depending on which hboot you have, you might need to change a line in a file.
Check you hboot by booting into bootloader...
Power off the phone. Press and hold -Volume and Power untill the Bootloader screen appears.
(If the phone just powers up as normal, goto Menu/Settings/Power and uncheck Fastboot and try again)
If you're on 1.25 you will need to edit the vold.fstab file.
Use RootExplorer or ESFileExplorer and go to: /system/etc and open vold.fstab up in text editor and find this line:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 34 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc0
where it says 34 you will need to change that to 33, save the file and restart the phone.

[Q] Sensation XL soft bricked :(

Hi,
I had sensation xl running on Cyanogenmod 9 and clockworkmod recovery was also working okay. I downloaded bindroid rom zip and tried to install it using clockworkmod after formatting the data/cache. The installation failed and it wiped ICS too and I was unable to restore it to a clockworkmod saved backup. :crying:
I flashed the boot.img for clockworkmod again. Now I am able to open clockworkmod in recovery mode but still I am not able to open the memory card in clockworkmod to choose zip file for installation. I get this error message:Can't mount /sdcard/.
If I choose USB mount and click on the drive on my PC, I get message that the drive is not formatted do you want to format it..
Just wondering if anyone can help me with this??

You can try to go to mount/unmount and choose option "mount as USB storage" or simular. And then on Your PC you can format drive (if it isn't formated yet.)

Update
The situation even got worse now.
I read somewhere in the forums that a similar person with same problem tried these commands in ADB shell.
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1
I ran those two commands and now my phone is completely bricked. I can't even go to recovery and fastboot. No matter for how long I push power or power+volume down button, nothing shows up on phone, not even HTC logo with white screen.
I don't know what to do now. Any suggestions?

Yes, it is a sensation XL and there was no response when I attached it with computer. Finally I went for mobile repair and the repair guy powered it using JTAG. Now he can go to fastboot mode but there is no recovery installed. The CID number was 2.36.709.3 but I couldn't find it anywhere.
Can anyone help me in finding RUU with CID 2.36.709.3?

Thank you for the clarification. I was assuming that I have to start from the "bottom", first bootloader, then S-OFF, then recovery, then root. This is what I did for my Desire Z and Sensation XE.
Based on your comment, I followed this path:
HTC Unlock
Recovery (CWM)
Flash SuperSU via recovery
S-OFF via rumrunner
Now to wait till mike1986 releases an ARHD for my phone

My pc is on Windows 8.1
It reads my phone as My HTC is this bad?
I follow the htc dev page and can't not get command prompt to find my phone. I am not sure of the command to do this.
Also does it matter that I received a OTA of 4.4.3 and my H-Boot is 1.57.
Cheers.

Should I delete the old ones and start a fresh.
I'll try your files.
Should you be able to root with it at 4.4.3 and so on.
