This method is for the Droid Razr ICS 4.0.4 and does not work on Atrix HD you will get permission denied when trying to move Batch from /data/local/12m or when trying to move any file like su to the directory.

No mkdir failed for tmp, failed /data/local permission denied. Still no go not sure how to get permissions for the /data/local folder.

Do I just replace the files from that new folder in ICS ROOT from the first one too test?
And where can I find the drivers? I donwloaded it from motorola but I am still not able to detect my device.
I am running VMWare on my macbook pro and made sure sub connects to that.

Problem was cable and now it is being found. Root did not work for me it all though it failed
We are getting though! I Believe in you:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Seems we need to figure out how to access /data/local directory this is where the problems lies with permission's. I have been trying for a day on and off due to work and have had no success so far. I will continue to help as much as I can.

I am not trying the auto script, I am working on finding the exploit to allow the proper setup for rooting and permissions is our issue right now.
Try a new cable or rebooting your computer and see if it sees your phone then.

[SCRIPT] aRoot for Atrix 4G [ root - init.d - sideloading - tethering ]

Works on any Atrix, rooted, deodexed, stock, doesn't matter!!
OLYFR_U4_1.2.6 supported
OLYFR_U4_1.5.2 supported
*MOD EDIT* THIS IS OLD. USE ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Features:
Root
Installs tethering apn(enable the apn AFTER you enable mobile hotspot)
Unlocks all APN's for editing
Enables init.d support (on the android side, sample script mounts /system rw)
Installs Superuser.apk
Enables Non-market apps (sideloading)
Installs su and sqlite3 binaries to /system/bin
Removes oneclickroot busybox mess (if it exists)
unRoot script
How to use:
note: xp users, you will get an error about the TIMEOUT function, ignore it.
Enable USB Debugging on your phone (settings > applications > development > enable USB debugging)
Plug your phone into your computer
Extract aRoot.7z
Run aRoot.bat (run unRoot.bat to unroot)
Download:
http://ponack.net/designgears/atrix/aRoot/
Thanks DG!
Thanks DG. I knew if I waited it would pay off.
Any plans on making an "unroot" script?
designgears said:
My most recent brick was mostly caused by having busybox installed and symlinked twice. Busybox is already included on the phone stock, oneclickroot installs and symlinks it again in the /system/xbin directory. This is messy and can cause problems. I created this script to simply use what is there, only adding what is needed for a nice neat clean setup.
What this script does:
Roots
Installs Superuser.apk
Enables Non-market apps (sideloading)
Installs su and sqlite3 binaries to /system/bin
Removes onclickroot busybox install (if it exists)

Thanks for the departing gift DG. Can we install this without any issues if we have already used the superoneclick root method?

ya, it reverts that mess it created and does a cleaner install.
(more gifts to come)
Okay currently rooted with Adeo already assuming unroot before applying this script, but as far as Adeo I understand it doesn't need to be rooted for the install but if its already there would i have any problems swapping the root method?
Edit: Oh hehe was beat to it XD
Thank you!!! sooooo much for all your work and your continuous support, looking forward to what you will tackle next.

Thanks for the reply. So no need to unroot, just apply your new script over the superoneclick?
Do you think you will go back to the atrix id it gets an unlocked bootloader?
This looks interesting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11871384&postcount=183
Maybe this is the key we need to unlock the bootloader!
I ran the script and it gave me an error about TIMEOUT not a known function, but it still got the job done. I used the one before the unroot was added (redownloading now).
Again, many thanks. Can't wait to see what the other "gifts" are.

very odd, I wonder if older versions of windows dont support the timeout function...
what are you running?
aces, thanks DG! all the work to date on the Atrix are and have been appreciated.

I used oneclickroot and have just done your aroot.bat. How do I know if it un messed the previous root and everything is now good?

pretty easy...
adb shell
cd /system/xbin
ls -l
you should only have a handful of files, no busybox, or any symlinks to it.

Has to be the problem, I was on my laptop with XP loaded. Like I said, the script did the trick but just sqawked an error. I am on my 7 tablet now and the command works fine.

I second that. XP here and got the TIMEOUT error, but worked just fine. Double checked my system/xbin and no busybox or symlink.
just looked it up, sure enough xp doesn't support that, oh well, doesn't matter, adb will wait for the device to some online, I might just take it out.
thanks for testing that guys.
i think xp still used it, just complained about it.
Just updated, now with init.d support and a better unrooter script
Sorry I'm new to this so if I used superoneclick then surely I will get a bricked phone...I get forced closed about once a day is that from the superoneclick?

It is possible that is the problem. Unless you are doing command line stuff you will be fine. It won't just brick you for no reason.
Thank you very much for your work...
Just to confirm, do I use this aRoot instead of your previous SuperOneClick?

[Q] Error when registering vs910.dll

I followed the LG Revo downgrade instructions pricisely but when attempting to register the vs910.dll after moving it to the newly created Models folder within C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\ directory, I get the following error:
"The module vs910.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80020009."
Can someone help?
Had same error on x64 bit system, I wasn't able to fix it though, I had to use a x32 version of windows on another computer. :/
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211295&page=2
open CMD with Admin privileges and then type
Code:
regsvr32.exe "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Models\VS910.dll"

I was having the same problem, did this with no issues.

Use the code i have posted, the one above has a typo. Make sure you check "run task with administrative privileges" in the "create new task" box as stated above.

I got this to work on Windows 8 x64, so I don't think there is a problem with the type of Windows you have installed, but some problem somewhere else.
Thanks for the catch, I forgot they had the wrong code in the link. Fixed.
thank you
wow, that was awesome guys thanks so much, worked like a charm!!!
Now if someone could only figure out how to Root v6 so we don't have to do this downgrade nonsense....
I ran into the same issue, but started XP Mode on my Win7x64 tied in the usb port with the phone and everything went perfectly - rooted and installed Revolt mod in no time
follow up question
ok so now that I got that dll properly registered, I tried to root using Superoneclick but kept getting permission denied error so I did it manually through ADB and I think it worked, but after downloading SU and running it, it tells me I need to update my SU binary but whenever I try, the program crashes...help again!
I couldn't get the newest version of S1C to work, or the ABD method. It appeared to work in ABD, but would crash Superuser. I ended up using S1C v1.63 and it worked just fine for me.
Try using superoneclick version 1.7 and use the rageagainstthecage exploit if you're having issues with root. Make sure all antivirus is disabled before downloading and installing.
Go to clockwork recovery and do the "fix permissions" procedure. That might help, it did on a Thunderbolt today that had problems updating the su binary. Do rooted programs work?

You can't use the latest version, you need version 1.7. Also, when you connect the phone to the computer, you need to pull down the notification menu and select "Internet Connection." USB Debugging will NOT start in "Mass Storage" or "Charge Only."

I used S1C version 1.7 also - could not get it rooted otherwise. Also had to mess with the "Debugging Mode" to make it work - turn it off, then quickly turn back on when at Step 6. Once I did that, everything worked perfectly.

Well see with ATT we can boot custom roms(MDL users) as long as the kernel is already lokidokied, or you can flash the loki zip and it will bypass the ATT check and allow you to boot a custom rom, Now seeing how this is based of CM10.2(thats what the file is saying so i am just taking a guess) if I flashed the Loki zip after flashing the rom would it work? But I am doing a backup as of now and I am going to test and see if it works :3 I will report back lol

But I am doing a backup as of now and I am going to test and see if it works :3 I will report back lol

Didn't work, Getting status 7 which would mean I would have to edit the update script so it doesn't just look for the inital phone. I will do that now and try again.

Yes i did. I installed intel driver and that was working perfectly.. no yellow marks were shown in adb driver and anywhere, i checked thoroughly. And also when i pluged my usb, its showed the mgs. "Installed successfully with a green tick as it does in Windows 7.
There was no issue in driver installation or extraction of files. I extracted the files with same name on desktop and opened the cmd as said.. unfortunately there was error.
"Fastboot"is not recognized as an internal or external command.........."

Have you tried unlocking bootloader? That's probly most important. If it's locked there is no point tying

Okay if anything works out when you try let me know
The bootloader can be opened in developer mode for this devise if I'm correct
You can unlock bootloader in developer options but from there. I'm stuck and really want to get root and see what "deleted" files I can recover from a factory reset. Anybody ever try twrp for same chipset like someone was talking about doing?

[Update Anyone?]
I picked up a Coolpad 3632a yesterday and I've been trying to ROOT it for quite a while nowl; trying Kingroot v5.3.7 without PC, and KingRoot 3.5 on PC both failed to ROOT. I've been out of the loop for quite a while regarding Android devices and OS - the last Android Phone i owned was the LG G3 if i remember correctly. According to the available info I've found searching for Rooting Options for the coolpad 3632a it all seemed almost %100 easily rootable with or without PC mainly using Kingroot.
If anyone was successful in rooting this device (Coolpad 3632a / Android 7.1.1) - please let me know, my main goal is to find a good custom ROM and load it replacing the Bloat/Malware filled phone!
Thanks again to anyone who has taken the time to read and respond with any news (good or bad) on getting this device successfully rooted.

Yeah that's already what I tried previous to your post. Had zero luck. =/ Also after that point forward for some reason when i try to fastboot i cannot issue any commands and it displays "Secure Phone" at the bottom left of the screen. Whether or not it was due to this I do not know for certain.

Does fastboot detect your device ? Or just the commands fail even after detection ?
Also , when your phone boots , does MTKlogger automatically start ?

It gets detected just the commands fail. There is a white "Secure Phone" line of text across the bottom left. Im going to try loading an sdcard to see if it will auto update anything.
I can't even use Flash Programmer in QFIL or many other apps in QDLOADER 9008 mode. I know the firehose is the correct one yet it never wants to boot. I don't know why.
MTKLogger might have before unless i'm thinking of a different handset here. But as of the moment it doesn't.
No luck with the sdcard. I think it's about time to factory reset this device and put it up for sale. I'll post the firmware here shortly.
Here is the firmware - https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/rom-coolpad-defiant-3632a-stock-t3855692
