[Q] Apps2SD or S2E for S5830i - Galaxy Ace S5830i General

Hi all, I've been searching for days now and since there are no custom roms out (yet), I wonder if its possible to get Darktremor's apps2sd working on my Ace S5830i
I currently have like 15 apps installed and its already complaining about low memory
Thanks a bunch!

Yes.. Bt i prefer S2E the only thing u need to do is root ur phone. N den u can s2e frm market. I saod s2e coz it has GUI wic makes easy to und N alsp partition ur memory card only using CWM(preferable)
Hit thanks if that helped u:thumbup:

[Q] A2SD choices? Which is best?

Heyo N1 community,
About to do my first daily driver flash so I'm trying to make sure I'm doing everything right.
Have a quick questions regarding the various Apps2SD choices.
As far as I know, there are market apps designed to get the job done, but as I understand it there are also scripts? And these are smoother in their implementation?
The only one I've seen is the Darktremor A2SD script, which is still a beta and looks like it's been problematic for some.
Are there other options, or is the Darktremor A2SD the only one? If there are other options, is Darktremor's still the best?
Thanks for any and all help fellas.
personal choice although most devs rec what a2sd to use such as
roms like medroid ics are built in
i use dt beta4 on cm7 roms with zero issues
Used S2E for like a year or so with no issues. Has a useful GUI too.

Awesome thanks for the advice and info fellas. gonna check these bad boys out right now.
Do u guys know if a2sd works with miui still? It used to work for me but then I updated to a newer version (currently on 1.12.16, I know its old now but after my a2sd failed to work and my nandroid backup didn't restore properly I just quit updating). Just wondering if they fixed a2sd in the later versions or not, if so I will flash that. Thanks
haven't ran it for awhile, but not aware it won't, maybe other issues on your flash
redo sdcard and ext and try
start a thread and ask on forum, someone will inform you

I've tried to use Dt beta4 many times, but it seems to do nothing. I install a new rom with a fresh ext4 partition, and I set up my phone, and then I go back into recovery and flash the .zip for Dt beta4. It successfully installs, but when i check my internal storage, it still shows up as 200mb or so, and apps continue to be installed on internal storage. Where am I going wrong?
In terminal, type:
su
a2sd reinstall
a2sd cachesd
Have you done it?

+1 for curiosity's sake
I use IA2SD script.
I'm on MiUI 2.3.2 ROM which has A2SD enabled with it. Though Dark Tremors seems to be a popular one from what I've seen on these forums.

In your System/etc/init.d you'll find the mount script for link2SD, changing the text that reads 'ext3' or whatever to 'ext4' will allow you to mount as ext4 (assuming you already have an ext4 partition).
But, you cannot create an ext4 partition with cwm. Ext3 I've found to be just as good, and cwm does it for you (which also sucks if you ain't got your computer, since it'll wipe your SD card, so you need a backup)
Roms, check latest apocalypse, aa, lewa. Cm9 is beautiful, but I couldn't keep it for daily use cuz of battery drain and the random fc while using multiple apps.
cm9 is smooth and stable enough for me to use for daily. I also recommend you to try AA, it is very fast, unfortunately the author discontinued the rom,so there are a few bugs. In my opinion it is the fastest rom, here is the link:

If you want to do it from phone, then first, mind that this will wipe your SD card. Boot into CWM,then advanced, then Partition SD card, now select EXT4 size, then it will ask yu for swap size, select 0mb,you are done

you need a ext4 partition on your sd card and an app which enables you moving apps to sd like "link2sd", "s2e" or similar. And you need to root your phone.
Look a bit around in the ace section here on xda and youll find everything you need

you must create ext3 or ext4 primary partition on your sdcard. to create partition, install mini tool partition wizard to your pc. then you can use link2sd to link dalvik caches to your sdcard. or, if you use cm7 as your rom, you can install s2e. to remove system apps, use link2sd

Are you linking the apk, dex and lib files or just installing (moving) apps to sd? You should create link to free up your internal space.
Take it from my experience. I used stocklite for almost 5 months with link2sd. Linked all apps except for those with widgets or that i needed at boot left on internal. 80 apps, 50 mb free on internal.
If you change to cyanogenmod you won't have more internal space, same space, different rom. When you do the required wipes with cwm (which you should to install cyano roms) it will format and erase the partition. You'll still have your partitioned sd card, but all info in that partition will be gone.

Carrier specific roms are harder to find than free roms. Go to sammobile and check if they have the rom that came with your phone.
The stock roms are all installed through your computer with odin and your phone in download mode.

Try this. Darktremor automatically put apps to sd-card.
but this rom is running on 2.3.7(although with ics/jb interface) the guide u gave me is for cm9 or 10.
ps some of those apps were very small like chainfire etc

[Q] Link2SD problem

Hey, this is my first post on XDA and i really need some help
When i was reading on the forum about moving data and apps to SD i got stuck..
I got a rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 with 2.3.5 stock rom.
I managed to move my apps to SD (Titanium Backup) with success but i still get the anoying message internal storage error. ( It's FULL)
Now i searched a bit further and found the app Link2SD, every review is positive so i gave it a try.
It doesn't work like it should :s it creates a link to my ext2 partition on 16 GB C10 card but it DOUBLES the internal storage of my apps... Am i doing something wrong?
The app isn't giving me more internal space, it just messes up my internal storage alot more .. First i had like 24-25mb free, after linking 2 apps ( airdroid and playstore ) i only got 15mb left?
Please help me out!
Thanks

For the stock you require a kernel with init.d support ( Fire kernel is good one) n aftr this you can try cron mod.

Follow these steps...
1. Flash a kernel supporting init.d like Battery Extender Kernel or PSN Kernel.
2. Partition ur sd card.
3. Install Link2sd> Create Scripts of partition type.

To create a partition, reboot into a custom recovery like cwm, go to advanced & select partition sd card. Select swap as zero. Now download int2ext+, reboot into recovery, mount system & flash it. Now format sd ext & reboot. Done.

Follow these steps...
1. Flash a kernel supporting init.d like Battery Extender Kernel or PSN Kernel.
2. Partition ur sd card.
3. Install Link2sd> Create Scripts of partition type.
4. Filter apps by USER.> Select all apps.
5. CREATE LINK.
You are done. Reboot your fone to see the difference...

Is it possible without flashing kernel?
I tried init.d support ( which doesn't work ) so i think i really need other kernel or maybe another rom ?
Trying CM 10.1 with stock kernel instead of GB
I'm a noob on development and things.. Just like to try out new things and folow them up. I never flashed a kernel / ROM before so i really don't know which kernel is better

Thanks!

Int2ext scripts and link2sd work fine in stock roms.
I posted that, you need a custom kernel to enable init.d support well there is a way to enable ir without flashing any kernel but the fastest way to enable it is using a CUSTOM KERNEL, so I advise you to use BATTERY EXTENDER 1.5.1 . Flash it via CWM

Thanks
