usb on the go support - Nexus 7 General

Hi everyone!
From what I have collected so far, N7 will support usb on the go IF:
1) you rooted your device;
2) use Stickmount app
However, I cant really find any usb otg cables in my local stores....-_-......yes ridiculous, i know!!
So here comes the question.....will those mini usb male, full size usb 2.0/3.0 female cable works?
or even those adapters instead of cable, will those work with Stickmount?
TL;DR = can i use any adapter for the usb otg function?

Search for OTG .... several threads about it, using it, finding it (mail order online), etc...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786160

I got a few cables from ebay for $3.90 each shipped and they work great.

I live in canada, those *******s charge almost 30 bucks for international shipping!!

I posted in one thread a link for like $1.50 with free shipping and confirmed to work with the N7.

Uh, check the cell phone shops, since most are shipping from hong Kong, they shouldn't charge much to ship to Canada instead of US. (Just guessing though, or you could try ebay)

Cheapest Place for Sync Cables?

Hi Guys,
I've been looking for a cheap place to grab sync cables for the HD2 but to no avail. I bought a few ones from a seller on Ebay except they seem to only just charge the phone but no syncing occurs.
Does anyone know a place where cheap sync cables can be found??
cheers,
Zhuk
It depends on your location, if you are in EU fastest and cheapest way to go is this
Bought already several of these - perfect sync and charge.
says its for the blackberry
Nevermind what it says it is 100% compatible.

Cheap(er) USB Cable?

Anyone know if there's one for sale?
I've looked on various sites and the cheapest i found was £20, which i'm NOT paying for a USB cable
The cable that came with my phone broke VERY easily and now i'm left with a dead streak and no way to charge it!
The fact that Dell is charging £25 for a cable is just disgusting
Cheers guys.
Not yet, but some day when other manufacturers see sense and use pdmi connectors.

Can't you just return it under warranty?
Isn't the warranty only 30 days?
Yea, I'm dying to get another usb cable or two so I don't have to carry mine around everywhere I go... I was hoping, since they're selling the streak at best buy, soon I'll be able to get one there...???

As the OP is in the UK (or at least quoted prices in Sterling), they would be covered under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 for at least 12 months (and possibly as long as 6 years, given the cost of the cable).
It doesn't help the data connectivity but, you could get a desktop battery charger from eBay, I've just seen one there for £3.99 I just searched eBay for "Dell Streak Battery" and it came up in the results.
HTH.

I've had to get a friend in the USA to get me a car cradle kit from DELL USA and send it to me in Australia. Just got of the phone to OPTUS and Chat with DELL AUST and neither intends on selling accessories for the Streak in Australia.
What a shame
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/111840/dell-usb-cable-30-pin-dell-streak.html
39 euro.. these are expensive cable for a piece of plastic..
I really am surprised that there isn't any 3rd party cables about. I have searched & only find dell's cables that cost a bomb
streak accessories now available from Dell

The entire page itself...
All of the items could be found on the net in various locations, and for varied prices, but never saw a Dell/US page for it. One guy on ebay is selling all of this stuff out of his online store for $30 - $40 more expensive than Dell. For months I was looking for a second charging cable and $40-ish was too spensive for me. Now that Dell finally has this page up, $19.99 is not too bad a price.

Supply and demand my brothers, I suppose there hasn't been enough streak activity out there as yet to warrant the entrepreneurs in China to make a 10 dollar cable and then a 5 dollar one and then a.... well you get the point. Dell is enjoying this fan fare right now since no other device uses this PDMI connection, well that I know of at least. I bought the $30 set with the extra plug since the usb only works with computers or Dells charger. what a rip off.
Mobilefun were quite bad too!
When official Dell website were selling the car kit for £35, they had it for £61.99!!!
They have updated now to sell it for £39.95 - supposedly saving 36% - Hah!
(Although I am happy with the Dash Genie I bought from them, although it should not be as much as £17.50)
I still don't get why we've not seen the cheaper accessories appear yet for the streak. I had to buy USB N adapter from eBay, not bad for £25.. but I've noticed on my original one that I've had since June not looking so great at the bit where the cable joins the connector. Mind you in all fairness I do charge it quite a lot as I'm always doing something on the phone.

Buying a Micro usb host mode usb cable. Suggestions?

I was curious to know if anybody has purchased as micro usb host cable and if it works well and where you bought it from? THANKS
Perhaps searching the various threads on the topic of OTG cables, you could find suggestions, comments and reviews, to make a better decision as to which to get..

Thank you, for long trips this will really be good.

i bought the wrong OTG cable

I just received my OTG cable and saw it was the wrong one I've ordered.
It's turned so its in the way of the mini-jack and the mini usb is too long so there's a gap between the nexus and the plastic on the cable.
could someone point me to the right cable? preferably from aliexpress.com or amazon.co.uk as they will ship to Denmark.
Tnx

I know that sometimes on the US site of amazon it will show up the same on the .co.uk one. So I'll give you the link and see if it works. This is the OTG cable I use with no issues.
Edit: As I just read in the customer comments there. There appears to be some issues depending on the seller. I bought it from seller "Crazy-Store(ship from Hongkong)" (no affiliation to the seller other than being a customer).
Note: It did take about 2-3 weeks for it to arrive to me here in New York, USA.

tnx but they won't ship to Denmark.
I think I've found the right one on amazon UK but they won't ship it here either so there's aliexpress left.
is there a way i can be sure i won't the one with the long connector?

Hard to say given the circumstances. If you check out the comments that I mentioned in my previous post. I guess I got lucky. I'm sure there's someone on here that can or will eventually give a more definitive answer.
Of course, assuming the sellers are actually selling the correct product on Amazon, then I'd say you are going to get the correct cable. And again that's a pretty big assumption after what other people said on Amazon.
according to the comments on the amazon link a seller on ebay named itrimming sould have the right cable so i've made a bid.
Now i just have to wait +9 hours to know if i got it.
hate ebay when i just want to buy something

I have been trying to source one too. The nook.co.uk site is useless as are the people who run the twitter, phone and live chats! I have spoken to one other guy who had to get one as his broke and he still ordered from the US as UK division couldn't get one!
It must be said I too didn't anticipate such an issue getting a cable! If I find anything I will post it here though

Blackwells look like they have good stock of Nook stuff. Good call, they are also selling the Nook HD+ and must be one of the last places in the UK who are still selling the Simple Touch for 30 quid. I got one and rooted it, perfect grey scale reader, (or in my case flight computer).

Just ordered the international kit from Blackwells. £17.49 including postage for a USB cable is steep, but I'm not going down the path where my Nook won't charge because the first one broke and I can't source a spare because it's end of life.
