Just want to let you guys know that this little guy is on sale on both amazon and bestbuy for less than a dollar per gig.

Thanks for the heads up, in for 1
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...w_mbc?tag=itemasin0f-20?ie=UTF8&condition=new
personally I'd pay a few cents more to get it directly from amazon, its $22.96 from amazon where as the 22.53 is from some third party seller, could be fake

be great if you could plug something like this directly into the tablet.. i have an OTG cable but its a little bulky.. about 10cm long

Looks cool but write speeds appear to be low.
For 32gb of data, I'm holding out for some that at least can take advantage of USB3 speeds.
I have a 16gb now and sometimes its a pain to transfer large files.

I just bought my nexus 7 and I have 5 days to take it back for a full refund, I only get 14 days. But after reading this its probably going back for now. I can contain myself for a few days to possibly get the 32 for the same price.

This, I got my n7 16 the day it came out and I absolutely love it. Now a few months later I can get one for the same low price with twice the space? I'll be buying it the day it's out.
Fact is if you want to be up to date, you'll be buying a new device every 6 months, it's just how it is, but hey, who doesn't have a hobby they like to throw money at?

Hi, I'm wondering how did you get the 25 bucks play store credit? I also purchased mine last weekend, but only found the 25 Google play store bonus is no longer valid (after September 30)

I got my Nexus 7 yesterday from newwegg and I didn't get the 25$ credit. I don't know if it may be related to my location - I live in Europe but I am visiting US now. Even if I try to access redeem codes from google wallet, I get the message "Gift Cards are not available in your location.". Anyone knows how to tell google that my location is now USA?
EDIT: Sorry for little off-topic - I found an answer to my question, in case someone is interested, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838710
the thing that stands out in my mind
The way these companies justify their pricing is hilarious... one quote in the article states
Right now, Google only offers the Nexus 7 in two sizes, 8GB and 16GB. 8GB is an extremely small amount of space but it enables Google to sell the device extremely cheap at $199.
Click to collapse
Just seems rediculous for anyone to believe that 8GB more storage would cost $50 ... and with the cost of memory per GB nowadays it would be a no brainer to up it to 64GB and 96GB just to stomp out the competition...
I guess Google was thinking this would be a more wireless cloud based device but consumers are showing that we don't wanna go that way ... would make sense to meet the demand and just flip everybody out with memory numbers that are huge.... cheap way to set this tablet apart from the rest (besides the other things it's already got going)
Got my 16gb n7 a few weeks ago for £180 UK pounds + £15 store credit + Transformers movie. Otg cable gives me unlimited storage if I need it.
I don't think I would be able to get the 32gb model for this price when it comes out, so I am not worried.

Actually, I remember reading an article about this pricing that said the 8gb didn't provide any real room for profit and the 16gb version is more so that resellers could actually make money on the device.
At first this seemed true as I couldn't find a reseller that even sold the 8gb, but now most seem to, so perhaps the build cost went down.
As for a 32gb coming out for the same price as the 16gb now...I doubt it. This thing hasn't even been out for a year. As for the 8gb going to $99...no way. Not unless Google is doing a fire sale and dumping Android like HP with WebOS.
More realistic would be something like $279/229/179 pricing for 32/16/8gb versions...

Price Drop on Nexus 7

Hey ya'll,
Just throwing out there, I was at WalMart (Ozark, Al) earlier tonight, and found that the Nexus 7 32GB was marked down to 199. I just bought mine the day before Thanksgiving! I checked the website, it is still listed at 249. I dunno if this is a price drop waiting to happen, or if it is in my area only. I asked the manager if I could have 50 bucks back and she said that she didn't know, told me to call in the morning, and worse case, box it back up, return it, and use the money to buy it at the lower price. (Which I don't want to do, but if I have to in order to get the better price, I will.)

Similar things are happening in the UK, as you can now get find the 32gb for around £180 at certain places.
Thats what's making me hold out until after Xmas for the 3g.

There wasn't a price drop on the 16, but it looks like the 16 has been sold out for a while, I've been looking for a while, mouth was watering, just jumped on it. I'll call them in the morning and ask if I can get that money back without having to take the device back, I still have my receipt that shows proof. All the night CSM told me was, with electronics, they might.
If you buy through Paypal at radio shack you can get 10$ gift cert for each 50 you spend then price match the nexus 7 32GB to a cheaper site and get more money back... that's what i did.. paid 249.99+cheap filler item+tax=265.xx got 5 10$ certs then used the Paypal pricematch promo (can find through googling) and matched it to a cheaper price i found online which was 229.99 1 or 2 weeks ago. so in the end i spent 265.xx but got back 50$ in certs + 20$ refund back to Paypal account. (pretty good deal if you need to buy anything from RS)
Are you sure the UPC wasn't for the 16GB version? It doesn't make sense that Google would drop the price twice in barely 2 months time (or increase the storage, however you want to put it).
I checked to make sure it wasn't for the 16 gb. The tag also said 32 gb
that would be really nice, since I want to buy one but for 200 or less.
I'm heading to Walmart as soon I get off work and check it out I need one for my car dash.

According to the representative at Gamestop, they are no longer making the 16 GB Nexus 7 and are phasing it out by getting rid of the remaining stock. So, my understanding is that Gamestop will only be selling the 32 GB wifi/data along with other retailers like Walmart when the 16 GB runs out.
I'm really thinking about returning the 16 GB one when I receive it next week and just pay the $50 to get the more recent 32 GB one.

Exactly, and besides I'm getting the 16 gb nexus 7 as a gift from my sister in the mainland. She bought it from Walmart for $200 and she'll give it to my parents to bring back to me here in Hawaii for my Christmas present. She said since it's a gift for the holidays Walmarts return policy is 15 days after the 24. I'll just probably return it for a refund and pay the xtra for a 32g from Walmart or Gamestop.
And I won't be getting the 3g Nexus because I already got a tiny hotspot with unlimited 4g with download speeds of 6 mbps and uploads of 1.5 mbps. It lasts for 7-8 hours on it's internal battery and costs me only $25 per month. Awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr-J-M2aEIc
Can anyone else confirm the 16gb version being discontinued or the 199 price for the 32gb? It's still 249 at the Walmart here.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I called the store, the price match to get my 50 would have to been done in 7 days. My store knocks prices down all the time because they don't know what they have. BTW the price is a clearance price. For example, they have Apple service plans (extended warranties) on clearance, a 2tb external Seagate go flex on clearance for 89. They managers there don't know crap about technology. If I get a chance I'll take a pic of the tag they have. But I'm at work till Monday morning

How much Raspberry pi cost you?

Here in India it cost me 3200 bucks, i.e. around $65, So $35 mini pc doesn't sound good.
In Greece it cost me 40€ with the shipping which is about 54 USD
It's target price is technically $35 in the USA and around £24 in the U.K. However when you factor in currency conversion, local shop currency, international shipping, limited availability in certain countries (Raises prices), taxes and other duties the price can be a lot higher then $35.

Not only a rear cam but micro HDMI and a microSD slot as well. There are a few threads here on XDA about it you could look at for more info. If I was buying today I'd get this over the 32G model Nexus 7 I now own. Add a 64G microSDXC card for about $50 and you'd have double the memory and HDMI too for $50 less than my 32Gb Nexus 7.

Yes,even if not for $150,could still sell it for a few bucks less.
I just picked up a 32GB Nexus 7 used this evening for $150 (CAD). Guy was in desperate need of some quick cash it seems, because he had just posted the ad online and I picked up the device 30 minutes later. I wasn't letting that deal slip away! The only caveat is that he didn't have the charger anymore, instead he had this flimsy travel phone charger that only outputs 0.7A.
All in all though, factoring the cost of getting a decent charger, I think I got a fantastic deal! Can't wait to root this baby! :victory:

Tablet on sale new for $240 on Amazon!

Just ordered mine. That's a steal for this brand newly released tablet. Spread the word so hopefully more people will purchase this device and we'll see more development activity on this forum. Here is the link:

we ordered two today to replace our nvidia shields. i was eyeing the asus zenpad, but for 60 bucks cheaper the huawei seemed like the better deal.
I noticed that the version only has 2.4ghz WiFi. Is it possible to enable the 5ghz band, assuming it's possible?

They have them back in stock now. They also added the more premium version with 64GBs of storage and a gold metal back for $370 if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sure this is the version that also comes with the high end earbuds. They also have the silver 32gb for $299. Honestly both are still very good prices for what you get. Only other tablet that is as premium is the iPad mini 4 and that's still double the price with nasty iOS.

Sorry, probably won't help you. I ordered from a local retailer in Switzerland and got the EU version.

I just ordered the 32gb for $299 which is still a deal to replace my old shield tablet. It should be here by Wednesday. I can't wait after watching reviews on YouTube.
