The bluetooth keyboard case looks interesting. I'm wondering how much would it cost..
Edit: "ONLY £79.95"

Mobilefun seems like such a rip off, I don't how they can justify the £39.99 price tag of their folio case...that's $62 for you US folks!!
I imagine over time, the price will come crashing down due to a lack of demand. The prices they have are an absolute joke for what is actually a very average case.

There's always a mark up from the US to the UK, the 8GB Nexus 7 (£160) is the equivalent of $250. It does seem larger for the accessories though, think they're trying to increase their margin.

Good point but even still, from a UK perspective, £39.99 for a folio case (unbranded) is a joke! I don't even think Marware/Case-Mate, Incipio, etc will charge that much!

LOL I love the 'official' - part of the description...
the rotating one and folio - look like the endless ones on ebay.. 'leather' covering the screen..
I would advise people to check ebay before paying that amount for a generic case - no way they are official Asus products..

lol only... half the price of the tablet.

The keyboard case is also the same generic one that's been making the rounds for quite a while. Stamp "genuine" on it (not even "official") and some folks seem to go ape over it.

all of these accessories look the same to what's out already. they will probably cost 2-3x more

I bet these will have the smart cover feature maybe

The cheap $2 cases in eBay have this feature, it's nothing special anymore and even it were, it does not justify these ludicrous prices.

Proof that MobileFun is inflating their claims that these are official, as well as their prices (or perhaps their supplier is fibbing to them?):
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX40691
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX40692
EDIT: My posts about this on the various "news" sites are being deleted, so folks aren't being informed. Hopefully the sites will post an update. I hate to see a retailer get all of this free advertising and make their customers pay inflated prices due to false claims.

I can't imagine using a such a small keyboard.....

The keyboard case definitely looks like an improvement from what's available - thinner, smaller, more solidly built. I can't imagine those are the actual prices they will be sold for in the US - no one will buy a $125 keyboard case for a $250 tablet.

DELL polyethylene case not great

Got delivery of the above case today which comes with a decent easy fit screen protector
the case basically covers the back and the top but sadly not the home, menu and back button area or the
Earphone area.
the top buttons are harder to reach as well.
Not worth. Buying esp for 25 quid
thanks for this info

Send it back for a full refund under the Sales of Goods Act. The case is falsely advertised and is not as described. "This robust form-fitting case provides a total protection for you Dell Streak from scratches" (sic) is the blatant, ill-grammared lie on the web site, when it leaves the scratch-prone front panels totally unprotected.
You might put up with that for a fiver, but for 25 quid? Stuff it up 'em, I say.

To be honest I can't be arsed but the case is very tight fitting and follows the shape of the streak, like I said before the screen needs a protector which is included but the 2 panels either side of the screen are not protected at all.
All of the ports and buttons are accessible

This case is laughable .. I am packing it back up and returning it. The back of the streak needs LESS protection than the piano finish and screen. You get this case which seems to be made of a thicker version of the plastic it is packaged it. It fits over the back of the case and that is all .. They include one sheet of screen protection .. I forget what I paid for it but it is worth about a dollar .. NO MORE.
I ordered both cases. I am keeping the wallet .. maybe .. That is cardboard covered in some sort of material with a coated rubber band to hold it closed. UGH .. I would love to have an ottercase for this.
i tried reviewing this case fairly and honestly on Dell's website and they refused to put the review on even though the only other review said roughly the same thing
i.e. that it is crap
I just picked up the FormFit Case myself and I can honestly say I was surprised at how it barely added any size to the overall dimension of the Streak. I like it. The openings for the buttons keeps them from being accidentally pressed during daily use.

What about the fact that the 2 panels either side of the screen have NO protection at all not exactly total protection is it?
You cant really cover that panel because first of all the bottm panel is also touch sensitive, the top part has the camera and sensor. I dont see any difference with it and most other cases for any other phones. If the 2 front panels are covered, it would make the Streak feel HUGE. Its already a big phone, but nice and slim. Take that slimness away, then its just A BIG PHONE.

1) Touch buttons can work perfectly well though a properly designed case
2) Camera and sensor too - ever heard of holes?
3) The Streak is huge anyway - 1mm on the front isn't going to make any difference - not least to those want "total protection" (sic). I note Dell don't make that claim on the US site. Scared of being sued perhaps?
4) The flip out back is another fail - if the hinge was higher up it could have acted as stand too
5) Even if the case was perfect, it's only a cheap bit of moulded PU which compared to "most other cases for any other phones" would cost £5 max. Also why is it $19.99 on the US site but £25 (~$39) in the UK? If that's not clear proof Dell are shafting punters I don't know what is.

Most likely due to VAT I would believe.
Anyone know of any sort of sleave cases for the streak? I liked the old sleave case I had for my g1 and would fancy the same for my dell.
I love the way some Brits just roll over when being taken for a ride. Since when has VAT been 100% markup?
I see PDAir are now doing Streak cases which is good to to see. But disappointed that they are also also taking liberties on pricing in comparison with similar devices i.e. $50 vs. $28 for N810.
I appreciate any business will charge the maximum the market will stand but it seems Dell's ludicrous original accessory pricing has meant that Streak owners are now a soft target for everyone else.
Got to admit Dells pricing says "We don't want to sell this stuff" to me. Somebody at Dell doesn't live in the real world.

No idea what your guys VAT is but ours is 17.5%, yet theres jack we can do about it being so exspensive besides writing a very stern letter to dell Mind you I wouldnt pay that price for that case unless it is made out of diamonds -.-'
does anyone have a coupon code to get free shipping.
Shipping is like 7$
Edit : If anyone is willing to give away the case, I can take it.
Dell Streak plastic case
I have had this case for at least 2 weeks. The phone dropped out my hands twice when connect to the usb charger. It hit the floor from about a foot and a half height. The glass was intact but I noticed that right next to the power button the streaks plastic frame had popped out. All I had to do was snap it back in no issues. Just realized that this case does not adsorb shock it sends the force to the streak itself. Going to buy another case once they become available. By the way case is already scratched up.

The are just generic cases or sleeves for any 7" tab. You can get a simple sleeve type case on ebay for under two dollars with free shipping from hong kong that will do the trick.

Same brand from ebay.
Couldn't find it for $2. Difference from amazon seems to be $3 less and no shipping costs. They're mailing it from China so it'll take two weeks, which means it'll arrive at about the same time too
I'm actually a bit concerned about standard 7" cases. The nex7 has a fairly large bezel. I have a kindle fire (190 mm tall) in a marware stand case from amazon. The marware case is an excellent case!
I also have a tab2 7.0 which is 3.7mm taller (193.7). The tab2 fits well in that particular case also but it is a little harder to stretch the clips around it. The nex7 is 198.5mm and I'm sure that a standard 7" sleeve would work fine. I'm just concerned that a case similar to the stand-style marware case may not house the nex7 tablet very well.
The nex7 is only about a quarter inch larger than the fire, but it makes me a bit apprehensive about buying a case that I cannot try the tablet in. I'm hoping that the "official" nexus 7 case will be available soon. It looks nice!
The way how popular Nexus 7 seems to be already, there will be many great cases made specially for it. I'm going to go for a pink one made out of faux leather for 4-5 dollar. Before that, it'll just have to rest in my silk evening bag which doesn't see much use anyway.

Here's the cheap case I'm using with my N7.
Oooh! A lot of these look pretty nice. Since I can't post links yet (YET) I suggest hitting up Amazon and searching "nexus 7 nuvur". Apparently they have quite a few cases, almost 6 pages I think, and I ordered one. I'll letcha guys know how it comes out if you'd like.
For now, I'm just waiting for the nice Asus ones to come out. The ones that remind me of the iPad smart covers. haha

It was available, but they removed it temporarily I guess. According to the representative I spoke to on the phone, they should be back Monday.
Oh, and also, the case I bought was $8.30 (give or take on the pennies) shipped. According to the image quality, it looks fairly nice. Apparently, mine is named MDK2G2R1.
I certainly hope that in light of the recent Apple injunction that we will get to use our accessories. I read Google terms of the pre-order. I believe that if the product its barred from US sales, Google is not obligated to fulfill existing orders.

Wait... so you're saying the cases might not ship... or the devices themselves?!
I'm saying that Apple might very well ask for an injunction barring sale of the tablet in the US. The fact that they were granted an injunction on the Galaxy Nexus phone (only the version available directly from Google with 4.1 Jelly Bean) based on the "Siri-like" Google Now, means that Apple may ask for, and be granted an injunction against our tablet.

oh, and does anyone know if these will have the velcro strip on the inside to keep the flap that holds the tab in place from slipping out? I LOVED the Yoobao case for my iPad, except for the lack of this feature.
I looked a lot before I settled on the Yoobao case for my iPad and haven't seen a nicer case. Their N7 case looks like the same design which is great. The only thing about my iPad case is that it is a version 3 meaning it took 3 tries before they ironed out the issues. Version 3 of the iPad case corrected some issues with the smart on features as we'll as add magnets to hold the front flap in place.
I suspect that this N7 cover may not have the smart on/off feature yet and if they follow foot steps of the iPad they will probably produce a v.2 in short time with the smart on/off. At $30 plus, I'd wait til they produce one with the smart feature.

It's actually $30 with free shipping, so just flat $30. I think it's a much better deal than the official case which costs the same (if you add shipping).
I'm actually assuming that they've incorporated all the things that they learned from the various versions of the other cases and implemented them into the first version of their newer cases. I know that my Yoobao ipad case had the smart on/off but not the magnet to keep it closed. It didn't fling open though. The one feature it lacked was the thin velcro strip to keep the flap that kept the ipad in the case from slipping so it constantly needed readjusting. Did yours have this?

My Version 3 Yoobao iPad case did not have the velcro to hold down the flap, however, I never found the iPad moved around and needing adjustment.
Your assumption about Yoobao incorporating all the things they learned from other cases for the N7 case is sort of right. They actually already have a Revision 2 case for the N7 with a "fixed Sleep/Wake" and Magnetic Closure.
The review from mobile fun.co.uk seems to indicate the case puts the tablet asleep when folded all the way over. Waiting for reviews from here before I take the plunge.
I've just ordered this from the kevikev ebay store. It's cheaper to do that with shipping than to order here in UK. Here's hoping the version 2 has the magnet issue resolved. The case looks very nice.

We need better cases produced for the Nexus 7

Guys I have contacted a few case manufacturers to see if they will produce cases or covers for this tablet as its going to be a popular device I hope they will listen and so do it quick.
I contacted Rock cases that do the quicksand series which is absolutely beautiful, and contacted Beyza cases as they do very elegant designs for good prices.
yeah, of course, in fact, many cases have been produced,

But not of high standard that I come to expect from Rock or Beyza, there is allot of the bulk produced cases which have the same design but different branding but nothing out of the ordinary has been made yet.
I think in the next coming month or so, higher quality/better cases will start to be produced. We just have to be patient

beestee those are too similar bookstyle, there isnt any backcover style that rock does or slip in cases like beza's out there at the mo but I do agree those cases are quality but I dont want to add bulk so I rather the other styles.
It'll take time for the more known manufacturers to decide or make cases for the Nexus 7.
If you want a quality case, just be patient and buy a cheap one for now.
Sent from a telegraph via my blood, sweat, and tears
Yeah that what I am thinking of doing, but impatient as always
IMO
Usually, unless for some unforeseen reason, manufacturers have a plethora of case options selling well before an item's release.
Probably, my theory here is; they didn't know when it was coming out, it was all too quick, not enough buzz, they don't see a large market demand, time money invested would be more than their return due to low number of preorders/orders, they didn't get the dimensions/sample early enough to have them ready, considered the existing universal 7" case options would be sufficient.
Consider most screen protector companies didn't even have them ready and became available for preorder after the fact.
I'm trying this one for now: moko case it's relatively cheap, but one of the problems I have with almost all of the cases on the market at the moment is that they wrap the entire bezel, which is just lame. This one at least, is only attaching at a few points. Plus it has the auto wake magnet in the cover (despite the one reviewer's statement that apparently he was shipped the wrong one).
I'll update when I get it.
This one has got my vote so far; but since it won't be in stock until August 20th I'll be looking for other options until then.
http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Portfo...UTF8&colid=34IOBDUA8QYLA&coliid=I3SDQI9PTYL6A
Try to hold off as long as possible, remember most places that are taking orders haven't even delivered units yet.
I'd say mid-August early September would be the best time frame to expect an abundance of cases to hit the market.
There may be some reluctance to make an expensive case for a cheap tablet that so far has not been explicitly marketed to the image conscious. It is not really a fashion accessory like an Apple product might be. So they may be waiting to see if the market develops.

Yes! I bought this one (was $3 less at the time). It's not great. N7 slips a slight amount to make the camera hole off, or the sides look angled. Adds some weight. No out-off. I may just buy a pouch, I like the feel with no case much better.

Chinese version of Asus travel case cover - works as a multi-angle stand

I just found what I was looking for - TPU Case cover very similar to Asus official travel case cover, also works as a multi-angle stand. Bad news is that I found on Alibaba.com, where minimum order is 500 pieces and I didnt find it anywhere else. Also, it doesnt work as a smart cover with magnetic sleep/wake function.

I'm in for one, 4999 to go
Too bad they don't offer a sample. Occasionally I've managed to get items that way on alibaba but it depends on the company.

Yeah, still 498 persons more and we're done. Put a magnet on front cover to make it "smart" would be a piece of cake
Where to find single units on sale? I was searching all over the web?
Ebay offers a few that may fit your needs.. Here is one that I found that my husband is interested in. Not sure if you are limited by location, but you could give it a look.

Thank you for your suggestion but I like my device to be rubberised all around bezel, just like Asus official case does, or this...

There is so many cases where minimum order is only 1 peace, that gathering 500 people is a waste of time. Plus then you're going to receive 500 cases in you mailbox, and then you're going to ship all 499 of them to people? In the end the costs of shipping will be the same as if you bought original asus nexus case.
No offense, but it's a waste of time.
If you like the official case so much, just get it, it's not way too expensive, if you include the hassle you get with ordering 500 chinese ones. And the cover on the chinese one looks like it'll fall off any time now.

Hi, all that talks about getting hundreds of people was a joke:laugh:, actually, we were talking about how difficult could be doing a such a simple thing like buying a new device case on net. But thanx, anyway, I allready have a official Asus grey case and I really like it, but it couldnt be used as a stand cover, especially as a multi-angle stand. So, thats why I was looking this particular case. Cheers!
Edit:agree with you, seriously doubt about quality.
