[Q] Leedroid Tweak... flash on stock ics rom? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

me again, and another noob question.
I been going through a few threads and I keep seeing this Leedroid Tweaks thinngy being mentioned. I accidentally came across a video with it running on a vivid, and omg instant eyegasm. But I have noticed that it was on a custom Rom.
So noob me is wondering if Leedroid Tweaks can be flashed on to my phone:
Stock at&t ics ruu, rooted, bootloader unlocked, wcx recovery, s-on.
If it is possible, please state how do I go I about doing it ( if not just pass me a roll of tissue to wipe away my tears).
thanks in advance.

hello...
('~')

Honestly I"m not sure. I wish I could help you more, but I'm using it on a custom rom, Holics to be exact.

Same here. I could be wrong but I think you have to have a custom rom.

I know it at least has to be deodexed...
Also... Some tweaks require other modded apks... Like the rosie...
Just use one of the sense based custom roms...

Thanks every one...
I hate this part ... Choosing a Rom (& kernel)...
the worst part is that; the only internet that I have now is the wifi on the phone, so I if I run a flash and it fails I'm in trouble even of the Rom flashes ok but the no WiFi issue ( which some ppl have had)....I'm still doomed... , wudnt even be able to relock the bootloader.
{Scratching head} ...[darn u no cm9 for vivid]... God which Rom to get now..., I don't even know which kernel to begin with....

so your first(and prob best bet for stock) is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583028 [STOCK ROM] AT&T ICS, de-odexed, zip-aligned, rooted, bloated (For chefs or whoever)
and then since its De-Odexed you can flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555539 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559153 for a better power menu and a EQS
also since your S-On you MUST always remember to flash your kernal via bootloader with fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20898807

Thanks.
(I always wondered what APM meant,)...
So...
1) Flash to the stock deoxed Rom... Or should I flash the kernel first ?
2) when flashing the kernel can I use hasoon all in one tool kit to flash ?
3) which kernel do you suggest for my specific case... Since one was not suggested... (Wondering about holic since its already apart of the hasnoon all in one tool ?)
4) sight... I see the APM link (thanks again)... How ( if possible) do I get Leedroid tweaks ?
....thanks for putting up with my noobossity ( or is it noobaceousness).

Edit.
just saw the link for the custom EQS, :
What does eqs mean and from what I gather it basically will negate the need for Leedroid ?

Eqs is extended quick settings and to get leedroid tweaks to work you need to port it over to the Rom you are going to use or install a Rom that already has it or something similar like wcx illuminate ,dark raider or holics that are based on stock vivid roms. elegancia is a port from the sensation and it has leedroid tweaks

honestly enless your gonna S-Off which you should do alot of looking up because it can really **** your device if done wrong you just pull the Stock boot.img from the stock att rom i linked to and flash that. you go into bootloader by pulling battery, put in back in and hold vol down and power till you get the bootloader then use the fastboot tool i linked to and install the kernal then after you do that your bootloader has an option to boot into recovery you pick that flash the stock att ics rom i included and go on your merry way.
the big problem is alot of the more advance kernals (holics, faux, or even kangbanged) you need S-Off to flash them or you need to do alot of reading to flash them so stock kernal is usually your best bet
BIGEDIT: or as the pervious post said download and try out Holics(my personal DD) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585373 or try ELEGANCIA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797035 THO Holics is more like stock ATT ICS

You don't need s off for most kernels you just can't flash them through recovery. I'm s on and I switched kernels all the time.

So I'm taking mine back to the stock AT&T dedoxed rooted rom. I'm going to make a few tweaks and call it a day. I was wondering about the dialer. I'm killing off visual voicemail when I debloat it, and I hate that stupid button on the dialer. Is their a stock holiday dialer I could use that wouldn't have that wretched button? What about the Holics dialer, would it work?

[Q] Like the XDA video says, I am a noob :-), need some guidance, pls

First, an intro abt me. Had a Rokr E8 for yrs altogether, flashed it with RSA BL and Modded MPs, so basically, I have an idea on general stuff
Got my first Android, an unlocked SE Xperia X8, ( Decided over the SGY, which also happens to be in the same price range ) on a good deal.
I went thru most of the forums, posts and guides and have a relatively good idea, so I thought before i get into it, I'll clarify some stuff.
In order to flash a custom rom, I should do -
Step 1. Update my phone from 1.6 to 2.1 by PC suite.
Step 2. Root with Superoneclick
Step 3. Install Clockwork Recovery and do the related stuff as in the guide.
Step 4. Download a custom rom and put it in SD card, and flash.
Have I got it right here, or am I making a mistake?
Went thru a review of Roms on the forum ( good post, that ) and realised each rom has its ups an downs, N i m considering either the time-tested Froyobread or the Gingerdx. I c that Froyobread ( based on miniCM6 with 2.2 ) has a problem with pairing with BT headsets, and no DSP for sound. Whereas the GingerDX ( CM7.1 - And 2.3.7 ) has camera issues. But in the latest post v22 of GDx, camera issue happens to be fixed? So , I m planning to go for this, are there any other bugs?
In the same review, the author has mentioned that some of the Roms have some bugs that can be ironed out with a Custom Kernel, and I c there is one by NobodyAtAll and one called Afas... Is this necessary, if so, where does this step come? Suggest a good combo of Kernel and Rom pls....
Abt Bootloader? Should i unlock it to have Custom rom?
That means, in addition to the 4 steps that I have listed, do i have to flash Custom kernel and unlock bootloader too?
Finally, one more Qs, I c that all the roms are based on CM's work. I noticed that there is a Stable CM 7.1 mod on their site, put up on Oct 10th, 2011. Can I just flash this basic CM7.1 rather than the customised ROMs based on it? What would be the difference? It says it is a Stable Mod, so does that mean wifi, camera, android market etc all work?
Wow, so many qustions, I hope u guys have the patience to clear this noob's doubts...

Kk, here goes, a long reply...
The order to flash a ROM depends on the ROM you are going to use.
In my opinion, GingerDX is the best ROM. The camera and DSP Manager is fully working.
For bugs, click here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409113
As mentioned in the thread above, 80% of the bugs can be fixed using a custom kernel. For GingerDX, I recommend using Alfs v6. Plus, you have better performance too.
About bootloader, you don't need to unlock it to install ROMs. But as for kernels, that is a must.
Almost all ROMs is based on CM6 & CM7, with the exception of some 2.1 ROMs. The stable CM7 is good, everything working, but using ROMs posted here in Xda, you have more features.
Every custom ROM will have some bugs, some major ones, some minor ones.

Ok, That was quite helpfu, thanks a lot....
Since u r saying that a custom kernel removes 80 % of bugs, and unlocking bootloader is required for it, am I right in saying this is my order of doing things -
Step 1. Update my phone from 1.6 to 2.1 by PC suite.
Step 2. Root with Superoneclick
Step3. Unlock bootloader
Step 4. Install custom rom
Step 5. Install Clockwork Recovery and do the related stuff as in the guide.
Step 6. Download a custom rom and put it in SD card, and flash.
Is the order right?
Thanks again...

Well, about the steps...
As I said, the steps depend on the ROM you want to use. For the bootloader, yes, use the original 2.1 ROM to do that. You also need to root first.

What lucastan96 left out ...
BEFORE even trying to unlock the boot loader turn off the phone, take out the battery and look at the sticker below. There's a date code denoted.
If your phone is 11W29 or newer (11W30, 11W31, ...) DO NOT attempt to unlock the boot loader! You're going to end up with a hard brick you can NOT resurrect yourself!
If you can't unlock the boot loader this does not mean you can't use custom ROMs ... you only need to unlock the boot loader to use custom Kernels (Kernel != ROM).
Wow, Thanks about that bootloader info.... will check under my battery...
Think of the bootloader as a pre-loader for your OS on pc (Say Windows). In other words, it's the base where the ROM and the kernel is booted. So if you unlock the bootloader you can install different kernels. This improves the performance and the abilities of your phone. By having bootloader locked, it doesnt mean that you cannot install custom roms, its just that some of them require specific kernels...
Hope I helped, if I am wrong correct me

[Q] I need someone to help me

Hello guys. I'm gonna to buy this phone in 3 days. I have Xperia™ X8 with 2.3.7 and nAa Kernel now so I am not newbie in Custom ROM's and Kernels. I know all what i need about ICS on my current device because in forum is a lot of tutorials..But I didn't find this on Captivate forum so my question is can someone say me the following things?
I want ICS ROM:
I know that I need root my phone sure.
1. Recovery install process is this?? -- Root my phone. Using "Root Explorer" put some files to system and reboot. (This process is from my X8)
2. Which ICS ROM is best?
3. I think that I need new kernel right? If yes which one is best for ICS? (On X8 Custom Kernel has Built-in recovery is it same on Captivate?)
4. Do I need Unlock Bootloader or do something like this??
If someone can put links for ROM, Kernel (If needed), Recovery and guide me how to change my Kernel and Flash ROM?
Please I really don't want to see some answers as "Keep 2.2 if you don't know how to do it"...I really want HELP. I believe that there is someone who can help me.
Thanks.
Sorry for my bad English.
Actually, not quite. I have this little guide that explains it. I hope it helps!
For a couple of your other questions:
-There is no "Best" ROM. The best ROM is the ROM that works best for you. The only way to find that out is to keep trying them out until one of them stands out. Personally, I like CM9 because of the features. But that's just me.
-Once you're on ICS, you don't need to change the kernel. You can, if you'd like. All custom ROMs and kernels come with ClockworkMod recovery
-Galaxy S phones don't have locked bootloaders or fastboot or anything of that nature.
THANK YOU !!! It's really nice guide...but you said that i don't need change my kernel but how can i flash rom from stock 2.2 and stock kernel ?? You said that roms and kernels come with CWM Recovery but on stock kernel i need to install recovery first right? Can i use Rom Manager to install recovery on stock kernel ???

that kernel only exists on your phone as quickly as you can boot into CWM and flash your rom of choice. so answering the first part of your question doesnt matter. it has cwm.
ALL captivate roms come with a kernel. every time you flash a rom it replaces the previous kernel.
Flashing bootloaders is the ONLY way to brick a captivate. Only do it once. Dont unplug your phone durring the 10 second flash. NEVER EVER EVER EVER FLASH "3 button fix" after flashing gingerbread bootloaders. #1 it is NOT needed and #2 it WILL brick your phone. only flashes half the bootloader.
Okey guys, thank you for answers I'm gonna try it on monday when I buy this phone.... Is camera fully working on AOKP Milestone 4 ROM or better is to install Build 31 ??
I want ICS with all working features is there one which has all features working ? If no is Build 31 by Kang good choice for me or you recommend some other ICS ROM?
Yeah I know guys a lot of questions but don't worry this is my last question

It's not hard, just read the tutorials posted here, and you wont have a problem. When I first bought my Captivate, the first day I got it from at&t, I flashed CWM and flashed a custom ROM without any trouble. The first ROM I flashed was Serendipity 6.4, and the dev's made it so easy, they explain everything from start to finish.
But, I highly recommend you buy a Jig before you go and flash anything. search on ebay or mobiletechvideos for a JIG. You can recover your phone from any Soft Brick state that can occur, with a Jig. Just don't go and mess around with bootloaders, if you do something wrong flashing a bootloader, then it might just Hard Brick your phone. If you do need to flash a bootloader, make sure you read everything that the dev posted about installing, then try to do it yourself.
Please, anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Kudos to you for being interested in rooting :good:
Shiromaru already answered the question here but why would you choose to remain on STOCK??? In the Android Development Thread of the HTC Incredible S, we have a TON of ROMs for use. They can be ICS with Sense 3.6. There can be AOSP or AOKP ICS. Theres Sense 4.X with ICS. Theres AOSP Jellybean 4.1.1 to 4.2.2. Theres really a lot to try. If you want to keep the (****y (excuse my language)) Sense 3.6 then u can try ARHD which is very stable. Theres also Blackout ROM and Incredible Bliss. If you want Sense 4.X you can try Nik_Project_X_Rebirth or Sabsa Prime. All of these ROMs have been modified to improve youre over all experience on the phone. I really would suggest you flash a custom ROM.

Try niks Rom v3.0 it works fine for me,good battery life + super fast performance with lil overclock

Rooting via htcdev will not give you s_off. That means every time you install a custom Rom you have manually flash the boot image using a utility called fastboot. And you can't change radios either. However for an initial root experience go right ahead with htcdev method and once you are comfortable you may follow guides in how to downgrade and then get root and soff using the revolutionary method. You may then also want to change your bootloader.
If you are going to root your phone then it makes no sense (pun intended) to remain with stock Rom. And as listed here in earlier post there are a plethora of roms to choose from.
Welcome to the joys of the android world.

[Q] wifi shows error after installing nameless rom

my apologies if this question has been asked before but since i couldnt find it anywhere so i am posting now:
this is my first time rooting an android device and that too coz recently my htc desire c had become super slow so i unlocked bootloader and downloaded the hasoon2000 tool but after the recovery step i was totally lost on how to flash kernel and all so i switched to superboot and i successfully rooted my phone.
now i wanted to install a rom so i chose nameless rom but the instructions were so confusing and i messed up. i couldn't install it and then my phn wnt start so i went back to hasoon2000 and flashed kernel using the boot.img from the nameless rom and my phn was back up but my wifi is not on anymore. its says error and i saw that my mac address was gone. then i tried again installing the rom and this time i did successfully install it but my wifi is gone
i have two questions:
1. how can i get my wifi back in this rom?
2. can i install any other rom and if i do then will i get my wifi back?

The 'method' to install any ROM is the same and its not difficult. And there is no such thing as a best rom. It's just personal preferences. So if you like HTC Sense, then go for Revolution or Sensational Rom. And if you like a more 'Nexus-like' feel then we've got a lot of JB Roms for you. JB ROMs are believed to be faster than Sense ROMs in general.
So just look at threads of the different ROMs and once you decide to install, download it. I'm running Cyanogenmod 10 right now. I've been using it for a long while now. It was the first JB rom made for this phone and all the other ROMs are made using this as a base..
We even have Samsung-like and Xperia-like Roms. So if you're interested in that, have a look.
And for Sense, Sensational ROM V4 is the most up to date ROM we have. It has a Sense 5 feel to it..
Hope that helps a bit. One more thing - never ask for best rom or best kernel. It's bad manners. But we can understand as you're new..

I am thinking of rooting and installing a custom rom now, I wanted to ask what rom should I
download in order to get this feature since I am new so I have no idea what a GPE L rom is.
Thanks in advance and sorry if its a noob question!!
This is a gpe l rom

Guys I am actually stock at the moment but doubletap to wake up screen is the feature
which I really want on my M7, I read some where long time ago that it was not possible on
M7 since it was a hardware feature but recently I came across a kernel for M7 with this feature. see below

As thick said, most custom kernels do come with double tap to wake, aka dt2w.
I'm assuming you know the procedure for rooting and flashing a ROM.
In order to get dt2w, first flash a ROM of choice. Boot up, and set it up according to your liking. Then, find a compatible kernel (we can help you with that), and flash that. Boot up again, make sure (in your phone's settings) that the kernel flashed successfully, then download a kernel tuning app like TricksterMOD and go into "Screen Wake Settings."
Note: some kernels may use AROMA, which lets you configure dt2w while flashing. The above should still apply if you want to change your settings later on.
Thick's ROM comes with it built in, but most other ROMs don't.
Happy flashing, and remember, ask twice, flash once.
I appreciate it!!
I rooted and played around with different Roms on my previous phones e.g. HTC Hero, NS4g, and Evo4G
but since my HTC one is still being updated via OTA officially I didn't proceed with rooting yet.
I really wanted DT2w feature and I don't think any update would give me that feature so that's why
I am thinking about rooting my phone. I really appreciate your help since you said you can help with
choosing a kernel please go ahead and suggest a good kernel and few feature rich/stable Roms.

I would suggest SD 12 since it's on the latest base (.12, which has some important bug fixes) and it's relatively close to stock.
Along with that, I would suggest using ElementalX 18, which is one of the more easy Kernels to set up. It uses AROMA, so you don't have to download any apps to adjust your settings later. I had a good experience with the battery saving/thermal throttling/undervolting settings (you'll see those come up when you try to flash it). I don't recommend messing with the clock settings, however.
Wipe (default wipe in TWRP), flash ROM, boot, set up, go into recovery, flash kernel, reboot, wait, reboot again. That's the procedure I follow.
I appreciate it!!

I have finally rooted my phone and I am in process of trying different roms at the moment, I tried to flash the ElementX18 kernel on my stock rooted rom but the installation failed so Now I am going to install SD12 which you mentioned and then flash the ElementX18 kernel. Since you mentioned you had a good experience with thermal throttling/undervolting can you please give me safe or your values so I can give them a shot as well. Thank you

EX 18 is a 4.4.3 kernel, you probably used it on a 4.4.2 ROM. A 25 mV undervolt with "run cool" setting would be good.

Yes you are right I was trying it first on my stock rom which was 4.4.2 if I am not mistaken that was the last official OTA
update for me. I am on SD 12 ROM and EX18 Kernel at the moment and loving it. I tried SlimKat which was not bad but for some reason I couldn't fix the resolution of the screen everything was too small for me (icons, fonts etc). Latest Liquid Smooth didnt recognize my sim card so I had to move away from it. It seems like for now SD12 is going to be my daily driver.
In case if I want to give SlimKat another shot can I use EX18 on it or it's only a sense kernel? also SlimKat is 4.4.4 so what good kernel can you suggest which will give me DT2W option?

EX18 is sense only.
And sorry, I don't really know about nonsense stuff.
