Hello guys..........
I have bought my Tp lately and today I decided to install a version of android on it.after the installation I decided to perform one of my heavy graphical game which name was Real raceing 2 but it performed very laggy. I used to play this game smoothly with a less powefull device like HTC desire HD.how can it be possible.In alpha versions of android for TP the GPU in not fully functional yet?Am I right?
Strange you mention that cuz I was playing cordy which laggs on my desire HD but ran fine in the touchpad.... I've had no lag issues on many games

You should try Xron 2.9 de-odexed.
Have you tried to overclock it yet? Maybe you should try to run it at 1.8GHz. And maybe use chainfire to change come of the settings?

I installed the latest version of Xron 2.9 de-odexed and overclocked the devise with set cpu to 1.8 the FPS raised a bit but the laggs are still exist especially in opening demo.i also have a bad watching movie experience because of the low FPS during playing back.it seems the software can not take the full advantage of adreno 220 chipset.I dont have any of these issues with the stock webos.
I don't really know if Adreno 220 is slow, or CM7 doesn't release this GPU's full potential, but heavy 3D games are really quite laggy now. We could only wait and hope for ICS, better drivers and whatnot.

It's powerfull gpu, somewehere near tegra2,probably faster but I'm not sure.

try xronified version, it's working much better. Probably still not full potential but heavy games are working fine.
I'm not having any problems....I'm not using xron, I'm using inseason rom (which has been locked)...only lag issues i have are while streaming 1080p videos. Gta 3, real racing, ps4oid all run perfectly fine

So i was thinking about buys a optimus 4x to replace my old android but i would like to know if u guys would recommend this phone for gaming, i want to plug it on an tv via hdmi and use my ps3 controller to play on it when im travelling.
Know that u guys know the purpose of the phone would u recommend it to me ? Or should i look for another one ?

Game play is pretty smooth for me. But i find battery drains very fast when playing hd games.
Just ordered 1 mhl hdmi cable once i get then i can check and confirm its performance on my 50inch lg tv with my ps3 controller.
Cable is already shipped i should get it by tomorrow.

gaming is quite smooth but not very good. Even few good games are not officially supported, though runs good if you get from an warez site.If you want gameing, go for nexus 4 or optimus g or htc one x+. Good luck.
There is always support issue between known brands like there are many games supports only tegra devices..also for many games (check TegraZone app from playstore) it supports more detailed gaming graphics like Dead Trigger just google and you might get to see..what i am tryimg to say else let me know i'l share youtube link with you
Its not lagy for me but agn may it is for other games i have not tried yet.

I´ve searched some videos on youtube and I saw that is nfs mw and gta vice city have some lag during tha play and that worries me a bit because this is the type of games i would play a lot
If you want to play the games you should buy galaxy s3. 4x is a good phone but games on this phone are lagging. Or my phone is not original 4x xD.

Hmm...i was playing Shadow Gun DeadZone multiplayer game at high detail display without any lag.
But i assume some device might be lagging a bit.
For you i`ll try nfs mw tomorrow n let you know how it performs.

Well-- i think ppl have diffrent thoughts about the gaming Some have lagg and some don't.
The games I play is: GTA:VC, Dead Trigger,Subway Surfers,Temple Run, Zombieville and Sword & Sworcery.
- Dead Trigger: The game is playable.. but it does have some fps drops and lagg.
- GTA:VC 1.0.2: This game is allmost not playable, it does have fps drops,some sound laggs and lagg spikes
- Subway Surfers: The game is playable, but has some lagg.
- Temple Run: This game runs fine
- Sword & Sworcery: No problems here, but then again.. not a demanding game
- Zombieville: No problems here, but then again.. not a demanding game
My phone is stock and not rooted. I tried to root and OC.. but to be honest, it didn't feel like it was doing any good.
My friends HTC One X runs these games with no fps drops or lagg, but his phone has JellyBean (android 4.1).
While this phone has Ice Cream Sandwich (android 4.0).. And there is roumers about a JellyBean update in Q1 2013 (or january).
This might fix these issues

I can see laggs in that video, you can play the game.. But the experience isn't that great. Atleast for me that is

how long did u play the game? Like in sessions ?

This last one has the same CPU and GPU but runs it a tiny bit better, but there is some lagging there too
But then again.. this should be because of the JellyBean update.
I would say near on useless for gaming, even hill climb racer is laggy,

i dont see much difffence from that htc one x video, to my video. it runs a little smoothier may be, but VC is completely playable on my 4X, almost lag free... i playd with maxed out option but resolution on 86% as far as i remeber. i play like 30 minutes ou maybe more with always the same result. The only bad thing is the heat....

Try to put it on max.. Im only playing on 100%-100%-max.. if you put the resolution any lower it looks alittle washed out
30mins isn't that much, try to be on a visit to someone old or someone in your family.. it will suddently be 1-2hours.. And in this time.. believe me.. sound spikes and laggs occour more than it should and yeh.. the heat is alittle unpleasent.
Anyway.. I did say this.. : for some it laggs and for some it dosn't.. it seems like it has some varity..

You are the first person who is claiming NFS MW to be smooth:/ You can even see it in that LG optimus 4X HD gaming video.. that it's not smooth! thats for sure
Battery: Normal use.. phones, messaging, some web browsing here and there, music here and there, standby and some wifi.. I can easily have my phone on for 2days
Battery while gaming: It depends rly.. Sometimes it 's 3-4hours but sometimes its like 4-6hours.. rly depends on how demanding the game is.. if you have data/wifi on etc
Yes every game runs smooth. Dead Trigger contract Killer zombie 2 gta 3 modern combat 3 and 4 need fir speed most wanted all run without issue and many more. I set my 4x to 1500 MHz on performance with lowest to 1500 MHz as well with setcpu and i have no issue to play any game I want. And the only time I had lag was when listening to music it jumped like crazy and stuttered but ever since setcpu is installed set to lowest to 100mhz I have no more stutter when listen to music.

In my case without underclocking my cpu nfs mw work smoothly..
Howevr battery worries me so i`l try underclocking my cpu n then i`ll check battery perforfance.

Well battery is pretty normal when gaming that it will drop pretty quick. Otherwise I have no issues. Last 16 17 hours on heavy use as long as I don't use cellar data. Wifi seems fine but cellar data is a freaking battery killer.

I'm still in V10d, games run smooth with the exception of batman, the phone gets hot after 10 min of playing tho.
i was planning to update to v10f but i don't know if the games will still run smooth like in 10d

Well I just downgraded to v10d and found a massive improvement in gaming, no impact on battery in my case either. Stay where you are, the overheating and battery fixes (which make no difference from what I've found) make games run like crap in v10f & v10h, nova 3 stuttered and Spiderman was unplayable. Now I've downgraded using gamebooster ultra mode I get virtually no lag in either of these games or the dark knight, note I did have to use Spiderman v1.0.8, latest 1.1.7 is still quite laggy because of extra effects

Funny, im using v10h and spiderman 1.0.8 runs fine(havent updated yet!). The heat is nothig tegra cant handle but it does get hot.

I installed v1.0.8 yesterday and it works much better, don't update its terrible and spidey has weird hollow eyes

Nice to know, i'll follow your advice and stay in v10d since a good gaming experience is important for me :good:
I also have occasional lags in dark knight, most of all the first time you play the game (nothing that make the game unplayable) but after that the game plays really good although i've read that some people can be very picky about it but it doesn't bother me at all.
Haven't tried Spiderman or Nova 3 but i'm going to try v1.0.8.
Dead Trigger and Shadowgun plays great, no problems at all with those games.

Well of course! After more testing i find some games are worse, for example the dark knight. v10D had fastest gaming for me becauseit had less aggressive overheating and battery control

I don't have time really to read how to install leaked JB and I will wait for OTA, so I will be straight: how about gaming?
I have latest ICS V10H and I have facing problems in Most Wanted, GTA III, Vice City and Real Racing 3 (laggg). Maybe these problems are not so annoying in JB? Maybe you use JB and some apps to walk-around lags without losing graphics like in Real Racing 3 or Most Wanted?

I use rooted v20a with ultra mode in gamebooster from google play, most games that were laggy on stock are playable with this setup, even nova 3 only lags a little

what about the amount of free ram in normal tasks and opening apps ??? in ics its always around 300-480mb free

And whta about real racing 3?? anyone tryed it ?? It was playeble on ics, but with the graphics set to low.Even on medium it lagged. How about on Jelly bean ?? is ot possible to play on higher graphics with smooth frame rate ??

I played it and it was so so, all in all playable, but didn't check graphics level, now since I was reflashing this pre-beta JB I must download data again and will report back with more details.
EDIT: Downloaded data again...can't see level of graphics toggle??? Fame rate is cca. 25fps...
p.s. when there in no thermal protection activated cca <46 C° GPU performance is better cca. 5-10%...but that last only few minutes until thermal protection enables and ruins it

That is why i decided screw this and reverted to v10d this morning, no thermal protection=smoother games

Yup, best performance is 10d, but when this crap is sorted on JB it has few advantages up in it's sleeve

I bought this phone for gaming, so until someone figures how to make tegra behave the same as in 10d im out, as jb isnt too far behind 10d i think with the same setup games would fly!

you get lag with real racing 3 with every smartphone with quad core processes these days... It's just the game...
btw i don't have lag with my lg 4x with ics with any other game , not with gta III, vice city or asphalt or any game

Yes it was smooth on JB then i remembered it lagged on ICS and was worried because i downgraded, but new version works good! Still has the accelerometer bug though, havng to use touch steering wheel. Hopefully they follow suit with other games, sick of murdering my battery with gamebooster to play nova 3 and still have slight lags :banghead:

On v10d with gamebooster set to ultra only dead trigger, nova 3 and spiderman lag for me, and only spiderman is frequent, others are just little stutters here and there. Most wanted only lags when race starts. I believe this is.because 10d has no thermal protection but i have only slight temp increase and very little impact on battery
EDIT: i see now in /d folder there is thermal protection but parameters are not as restrictive

I've just got a LG 4X so I'm new on this forum, but it's not my first day on XDA I had an Xperia S before which has worse performance without a doubt.
After I got the phone I jumped straight to gaming and experienced something not so pleasant... GTA Vice City 1.03 is unplayable, it runs like 10 to 20 fps with jumps to 60, then it lags again, after that I downloaded Real Racing 3 from market, it runs 5 fps at most... I can't play using OpenGL with FPSE ( neither could I with SXS but it had better fps) . Dead Trigger works as it should, but it lags too...
I have rooted v20A, switching governor to performance didn't help at all.
Is everything ok with my phone ? I haven't tried gaming on ICS since I flashed v20A as soon as I got the phone.
Damn, I wanna play this GTA sooo much and I can't, even after reducing all the settings.

It's the same thing with me. A cell phone done for gaming is not good for games at all. This is a big problem with this phone. If I had known this, I wouldn't have buy this phone. Other phones not done for gaming have a better performance. I'm experiencing lag sometimes even with temple run.

My setup is v10d with gamebooster, hard gaming and ram tweaks enabled, most games run well with this setup. Only one I had trouble with is spiderman 1.1.7 so i downgraded to 1.1.4 and now it only stutters occasionally. The problem is the v10h firmware, the heat protection is.too aggressive and kills gaming performance

Damn again, your Vice City runs buttery smooth compared to mine I have very often and major frame drops and stuttering Real racing is 5 fps, I'm trying to lower the graphics settings, will report afterwards. I'm thinking beta of IB has ome bad 3d drivers or something, I'm hoping for custom roms with unlocked bl

Anyway, on ICS i did this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2158231&page=7, and the lag is completely gone, and in my opinion graphics are pretty much the same.

The topic of the comments in your video are the same thing as here: LAG.
It's a tegra 3 mobile, it shuldn't lag.

Damn, gonna try GTA 3, It run smooth on SXS, I will be pissed if it will lag on O4X... Damn you, LG.

Gta 3 is smooth on default graphics, i'm on 10d though, seriously v10d is a must for people wanting gaming on this phone

Not for me! GTA3, Asphalt, NFS ... they are all unplayable with V10A,B,C,D,E ... Whatever ... GTA3 have really big slowdowns on my o4x, even with v20a. Especially Tegra 3 games lag a lot :/ don't know why ...
on my nexus 7 the games have no lag problems or poor framerate.
i flashed 10 times, i reseted my o4x a couple of times but nothing helps. nearly every game lag like hell.
(sorry for my english) ^^
do you have latest version of the game /s ?
****, i ordered new O4XHD for gaming because of tegra 3 ( and on htc one x games running smoth) and now this bad news... damn it

I also use gamebooster but its only really needed on nova 3 in my case. 20a is worse than 10d. Asphalt had a recent update that fixed lag, so did mc4. Only lags I have is slight stutters in spiderman v1.1.4, NFS (only at race start) and nova 3 on first 2 levels. I have A LOT of games too, they ran crappy on euro10h, a bit better on 20a but euro10d is the best

If i'm honest, LG Are terrible at making their own firmwares for more than capable phones.
As well as the Optimus 4X, i own the 2X. (Which is also laggy on the original firmware)
The 2X, has a huge community with hundreds of custom roms. On these custom roms, the Optimus 2X runs flawlessly. Once we have an unlocked boot loader for our 4X and a bigger custom rom community, i am more than confident to say that the 4X will run incredibly well too!
The 4X has huge potential! just not with LG's builds of android!

If GTA and asphault are unplayable for you, than you have a faulty device and you should change it (if you can). I have no problemson w/ those game, only MW, that lags.
same here, every game plays fine except NFS MW laggs ocassionaly
Real racing 3 lags a lot. The same thing with NFS... GTA 3 doesn't run smoothly.

If you mean cool looks ok.
But if you mean temperature cool there are two explanation:
1. You are not relevant as temperature meter, some kind of anomaly.
2.You played in North Pole with heavy coolers surrounding you.
No offence but heavy games heats all mobiles ALL...

This game compared with others games,the phone no is a toaster, and have good graphics.
I no have a .apk, to measure the % capacity of the cores.
