FM Radio - Galaxy Tab 2 Themes and Apps

I know there are apps like tune in and iheartradio but is there any FM Radio apps that wouldn't require a 3/4G signal? I have my tablet mounted in my truck and dont always pair my phone and tablet for the radio and would like to have the option of using a radio through my tablet

Well I think for an actual FM Radio app to work you would need an FM Tuner built into the device which these tabs that I am aware of do not have.

Has anyone came across a fm transmitter app?

Looking for an application that transmits from phone to fm radio.
I don't believethe phone has an FM transmitter, even if you did find an app for it, it wouldn't work without one.
For my FM needs, I acquired an FM transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack.
Do you mean have your phone play fm radio? If so try cherry rplayer.

people have asked about FM support (either receiving or transmitting) but it's a null point.
The eris has absolutely no way of communicating over FM signals.
well, not including external addons of course.

Killer feature for me: FM Radio!!!

FM Radio development is missing! that's a killer feature, i use it every day in wm
second that!
For me, personally ... after I got new toy, my Xperia will be just an FM radio .. an expensive FM radio ..;-)
I do not need Camera or GPS because my Xperia will be staying put on the table to listen to radio and receiving messages from Skype messenger (always connected to WIFI).
But I think someone can get other HTC FM radio Android application and use it in Xperia .. please someone get that for Xperia, thanks.

yea, in italy free wifi wasn't legal until 2011, wifi and 3g coverage is really poor, 3g dataplan are very expensive and not for rechargeable SIM (in italy we don't use subscriptions)
FM radio, is free, and works everywhere!
I think that FM APIs are still unavailable to 3rd party developers.
I dont know how is this dont for xperia but this is the way on htc desire... :
Click / tap on the arrow to the left of the phone on the main screen and you will get a list of applications.
You have the FM Radio icon in row 4. Tap on it and listen to radio. Do not forget first to plug some headphones (any they do not have to be original) .
Maybe there's another phone that uses the same FM chip and for which there's working FM radio app?
I agree - FM radio support is essential. Without it users who would like to listen to the FM radio still will be forced to switch to WinMo.
Not everyone has Wi-Fi access to use TuneIn Radio and not every FM station has streaming broadcasts.
Motorola CLIQ XT is Android smartphone which has FM radio and uses MSM7201. Maybe someone could port it's FM radio app to X1?
i tryed to port libs and FM Radio apk, but it doesn't work , i tryed many other apsk, but still no luck
Just keep trying, please. There must be a way to make the radio work.
Download applanet that have fm radio apps.

[Q] Dell Streak 7 AM/FM Radio

Hey guys,
I'm currently working on replacing my car stereo with a tablet and have been looking for information on the Streaks AM/FM Radio.
I know that the Dell Streak 5 can have it's hidden radio enabled, does anyone know if the same goes with the Dell Streak 7? Thanks!
I dont believe tegra 2 supports fm radio by itself?
Snapdragons have FM radio support built in, just so happens on the S5 it's not turned on since they couldnt get it working without bugs.
Yes it can.

What's TuneIn Radio which came with my S7 WiFi only? I assume that's what the OP is refering to that was in the S5. I have no idea how they plan to use TuneIn Radio in a vehicle since it needs an internet connection to operate.

TuneIn requires a data connection to reach out to the internet to pick up local radio stations. AM/FM Receiver would do so OTA. I suppose I could just use my phone as a hotspot and have the tablet connect to it during startup and use TuneIn Radio instead of OTA since it seems like no tablets that I know of have AM/FM capabilities.
Tunein is an internet radio app, I dont believe it's even capable of supporting fm radio, though I've never really used the app.

It does AM, FM, fire, police, etc.
chk this out http://tunein.com/
it plays all ur local radio stations through internet, its doesnt use any AM/FM hardware
There is no fm radio in the streak. Any radio app that came with the streak streams radio over the net.
If using streak as radio will need a 4g streak and dataplan or wifi streak and tether to cell phone.
That's your options. No fm radio inside of streak 7.

In Post #6, I stated that one needs an internet connection. True, no built FM radio or any radio of any kind but with the TunIn Radio app, you can receive AM, FM, etc. radio stations.
Those arnt 'am/fm' stations then.
In this context those are internet radio stations, am/fm ones are ones you can directly pick up over the air without internet access.
That's like saying youtube is 'tv stations' since there's some full tv shows on it

Does it really matter as the end result is the same? So if your TV from Comcast, etc., you have to say that you have cable TV not just TV. Or what about satellite, you must say satellite TV? I have AT&T U-verse which is IPTV but I don't use that term as somebody would say, Huh?
So what do you call OTA TV broadcasts over cable, satellite, etc.?
Local channels,
that would be like saying you can install windows on the S7 because you can use RDP/teamviewer/VNC.
The way you get it is the important part, internet radio isnt the same as am/fm radio because of the stations. Esp for wifi ones since you cant go walking around using it as an am/fm radio without internet. If you had an actual tuner you could. I cant imagine every single local station also rebroadcasts over the internet.
If you're talking about what tv, what if there's a channel that you dont recieve on u-verse? Do you say you dont get it even though you get tv? You'd say you have u-verse and you dont recieve that channel on u-verse.
You've gone over the edge on this topic for some reason.

[Q] L90 (D405-TR) FM Radio Problem

Hi guys,
I’m from Turkey, I'm new user on this forum and I'm so sorry for quite poor English. I bought a L90 (D405-TR). But there isn’t FM Radio app in applications menu.
I read some Turkish forums (for LG G2) installing the ROM of different countries or by rooting to activate FM Radio.
1) I rooted the device. My /cust/OPEN_AME/TR/config/custom_apk_list.cfg contents as follows:
-/system/app/LGFmRadio.apk
Click to collapse
I've made this change in content is as follows, and I restart the phone:
+/system/app/LGFmRadio.apk
Click to collapse
Then I saw FM Radio app in the phone's application menu. I plugged a headset, and opening FM Radio app on app menu. But menus and buttons are passive. So that I could not listen fm radio
2) I flashed England and Italy's ROMs, I saw FM Radio app in the phone's application menu. Again I plugged a headset, and opening FM Radio app on app menu. But menus and buttons are passive. So that I could not listen fm radio
3) Both the phone is rooted, and while both been installed in a different country (which again was the root case)… I was installed Spirit FM Radio, Connected Music Player, etc. I did not listen to the radio.
Q1: Is there Fm radio receiver / hardware on my device? How can I check/detect whether there is?
Q2: Let's assume that there is an FM radio receiver. Both of these methods are not listened to the radio?
Q3: Fm Radio hardware which prevents other transactions have to do?

According to the research I've done, this morning in fact, there is a builtin FM radio receiver in some D405 and D410 models. However I cannot be more specific than that. I do know that the D415 does NOT have a builtin FM receiver.

Thanks @PBakker for reply. I've already flashed a ROM belonging to the Italian model (d405n). But still, I could not listen to the radio. When I flashed any ROM, Does changing the kernel? (I think the problem is caused by radio to the kernel prevent, If there is fm radio hardware on my phone. However, my device, I don't know whether it is fm radio hw.).
As far as i know by most rom packages you need to update or change the kernel seperately. So kernel not affected by installing rom

Kernel is part of boot.img. So flashing ROM does affect kernel.

I have the same problem. I just bought the phone yesterday, (L90 D405-TR) and this evening i realized there's no radio app in the app drawer.
Is it possible to use it's radio receiver using an app from google play ? Or do those require mobile data ?
I guess we need to find out first and foremost whether our model (L90 D405-TR) has a radio receiver after all...

I haven't, not even once and I got the phone for more than a year but I understand that some people would like to see that feature.
For what is worth if you still need to find the answer.
Open the Google music play app and if your phone has an FM radio tuner you will see the following options:
Listen Now
My Library
Playlists
Radio
Explore
If radio is not listed as one of the options then your phone lacks that capability.
Hope this helps.
Cheers......

[Q] Use build in radio to send to car radio?

Hi I have a old car that does not have bluetooth, is it possible to use the build in radio as a broadcast and use my car radio to receive songs? I know there is some adaptor that let you do that but since the phone has a built in radio I wonder if this is possible with some apps.

There is an app called Spirit Transmit. I've been using it on Xperia SP and Xperia Z1 and it works like a charm. I think your phone needs to be rooted for it to work.
Go to this link to get the app. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296&page=845#post55456171)
any one that I can just buy from the play store without root?
