Screen protector - Nexus 7 Accessories

I plan on getting basic screen protectors from eBay. They cost about $5 for 2-3. Is anything wrong with them? I see people getting expensive ones for like $15-20. What's the difference?
Thanks.

It's a trial and error things. People are buying the more expensive protectors because they either know the brand/company or hear good things about the company by hear say.
You may love your cheaper ones, but you will be the one deciding that LOL.

I purchased these at just under £2 and to be frank, they are rubbish.
You can see smears and fingerprints so much more than using it without a protector.
In this case it's all about experimentation but you get what you pay for.

I got 10 screen protectors for $10.99 on ebay with free shipping. I'm sure there are better ones out there but for just over $1 each these are nice and smooth and seem to be holding up fine.

Invest in a Screen Protector

I was just using my phone and just realized that my screen is scratched! Its a fairly deep scratch. I don't abuse my phone either. So much for gorilla glass. Got my replacement coning in tomorrow.
Aw that's terrible, sorry about that. Do they just send a prepaid return box with your new phone? Or do you have to go without your D3 for a week? Because that would be unreasonable lol

They send a prepaid return box next day air. Thank goodness.
VZW is sending you a replacement phone 'cause your screen is scratched?
Are you using insurance or is this an available option for all?
I ask because my "Gorilla Glass?" is also scratched up after a month running naked (my OG has 0 scratches after two years!).
TIA

It seems like gorilla glass has gotten not so "gorilla" lately. The og droids screen was extremely difficult to scratch. But the past 3 phones that i owned, have scratched very easily in weeks. Its a shame.
They rip you off on the screen protectors. I have no scratches but I spent like $12 for 3 for me and my girlfriend, then I got addicted to amazon and found a 3 pack for 3 dollars. -___-

Currently using my ATRIX 4G with a screen protector and TPU case. Very nice. The ATRIX has Gorilla Glass but the protector is there so I can use my fingernails without worry of scratching. Got both on Amazon for $12 total. The protector was like a buck fifty.

I ended up getting ghost armor. I like the lifetime warranty and when i get those cheap screen protectors they seem to get punctured.

On eBay, you can often get 3 for $1, with free shipping.
In my experience, the cheaper screen protectors are just that, cheaper. if you spend a bit more money on it then you might get yourself a really good screen protector that will feel like the original screen on the phone when you touch it. Of course, that's just my experience though

I always go naked on the screen, always a case. Not for protection, but because imo I don't like the feel of soft rubber, too slippery

I don't use any screen protector but I do have a case which faces the phone in and keeps the screen from getting scratched. I've tried a few protectors in the past and they always seemed to mess with the haptic feedback in some way.
I've dropped my Droid 3 on asphalt and didn't get a scratch on the glass.
I dropped mine earlier and chipped it a little near the corner it landed on.. in one of the few places my shell leaves exposed. Fail.

I have both the Commuter and Defender at my location. Thankfully I didn't have to pay full price for mine.
50$ at my local AT&T store, but worth it. Ruined my Inspire in a month without a case lol

I prefer the Defender line but on the Vivid it just seemed like a **** production on it. So I went with the Commuter case ($19) and and Invisible Shield ($8) combo.
Just got the Defender from Otterbox. Adds a it of bulk to the device, but certainly protects it from just about anything other than a direct munitions hit.
My only complaint is that static electricity makes it VERY difficult to get rid of dust behind the protective screen before assembling it to the Vivid.
My ATT store only had the blue one so I passed. I'll probably order the Commuter online since it'll be cheaper that way and come with a screen protector.

FYI, the Defender's Screen Protector is built in to the inner shell, and does not require separate application.

I am finding that the release tab for the holster is far too large; and is easily hit to unintentionally release the phone from the holster and drop to the floor/ground.
Can you place the phone with the screen towards your body instead of outwards like the picture on the Otterbox website shows?

Yes you can.
My only gripe about the defender case is that the kickstand(belt clip) feature isn't so stable when using it on portrait or landscape mode.
Looks like the Seidio Surface finally got released? I've been constantly checking on it since I heard about it on the forums. It's almost 50 dollars though.
Won't let me post because I'm new, but I'm sure you could google dailydeal and itll come up. I can't vouch for the site however, not sure how legit it is. Lemme know what you all think!

Amazon's got the active too, although its out of stock. looks kinda bulky but im liking the kickstand. Also think the rubbery material = better grip vs the surface case's hard plastic. Kept dropping the phone onto my chest this morning using it lying down because I couldnt find a comfortable way to hold it without hitting the super large screen it has xP

Element cases for Android.

Let's hope that the Nexus 7 makes the list. It will probably be a super expensive case, but it would be a nice one for sure.

Yeah, I'd hate to say it, but I'd probably buy one too. With the cost of their phone cases, they might try and pull a ridiculous price for a 7inch tablet tough. The case may end costing more then the tablet lol
Dam they look sick!!!!!

Holy crap at the price.
You can get 2-year warranty from squaretrade for probably a fourth the cost. And that will protect the screen (a trick that I have yet to see a case emulate without a thick plastic sheet). And you won't look like one of those "fake carbon fiber makes me look... cool?" people...

Best Case for Under $10?

I really need help with this. There's so many cases on Amazon, but I don't know which one is good.
It has to be around the $10 price range, it can be a little over or under. Under preferred.
My Nexus had been naked since I got it in July, let's dress it up.

Ebay Spigen case copies

Has anybody tried one of these copies and can attest to the quality or even compare to the genuine ones? They are half price and look identical.
I'm not even sure I can post a link here, so sorry if I messed up.

Are you sure they're fake? The title quotes "50% off". It's probable they are fake, but it's one of those difficult to tell. For the relatively cheap price I say give it a shot. You won't have lost a lot of money really, and it's possible you'll be happy with your purchase anyway.

really man ?? the original it's not expensive, just only 15.99, not to mention the great quality of spigen covers. Come on man, support one of the few
brands that make great quality covers for a fair price.
Definitely fake, considering the 7 colors offered in the list that Spigen doesn't make (for this one).
Ive bought like 12 cases from Spigen and love their products but I wouldnt say their price is good. $40 for a glass screen protector? I just bought my 2nd slim armor for the htc one m8 and it cost $25 with shipping. I wouldnt say that is cheap considering it probably cost like $1 to make. But anywho Im gonna order one of these for the hell of it. Probably the lime green one.
Paying 25 bucks for a Glass Screen Protector is stupid, in my opinion, when you have the unbranded ones from AliExpress for 5 bucks shipped. And trust me, they are exactly the same.
I bought one and it sucks. So much so that I told the buyer that I was going to leave negative feedback AND make sure spigen knew that they were supplying fake goods etc they refunded me in full and told me to keep the case as a gesture of goodwill. If you want i'll gladly send u it if u cover the postage.

No its ok you can keep it, I want something decent. I'll buy genuine. Incidentally what was the problem with the cases? I feel the seller is also trying to pass these off as genuine articles. It's good that you informed Spigen.

You have to shop around. Sometimes the MSRP is much more than street price. That case is 40 bucks on Amazon. $40 bucks is a lot of money for a case but that Slim Armor View case is looks like it's worth it. Their fit and finish has always been top notch and their cases look great.I'm more of a minimalist kind of guy so it's not really for me but if I needed more protection, I would definitely pay $40 for it.
I love how you automatically assume I'm their employee just because I praise them. Is it taboo to like a company?
You answered my question when you said "$40 bucks is a lot of money for a case". I say it's an outrageous price for a case.

Yes I did say $40 is a lot of money for a case but it's a fair price for what the case offers. There are plenty of other companies that sell cases at that price range, if not more. Otterbox for example.

Why did you buy an HTC One when you could buy a copy from China for much less? According to your logic, it's pretty much the same thing.

I am not saying they don't make good cases and that their cases are not better than the fake ones (I bought both). I am just saying it's not fair price. 20 bucks would be the correct price to ask. Same goes with their glass screen protectors. 30 bucks? lol. I bought a similar one for 5 bucks shipped on aliexpress.
They also have terrible design flaws on their cases. The S-View cases, for instance, didn't have a simple hole for the notification led light pass through. It's a great feature to miss so I had to make one myself (it looked terrible, of course). Same goes with the closing mechanism of that case, which broke after some months because of simple use.
The HTC One m8 Spigen ultra fit capsule, a clear case they launched, also has flaws (too bulky and with a yellowish problem).
This is my opinion. You can keep yours, of course.

See if you said that at the very beginning, we could've had a meaningful and brief discussion.
It's much easier to understand your point of view when you actually support your claim.
I had their Barely There case for my HTC One X and the Slim Armor for the M8 and both were priced at pretty much the same as their competitors their design put them ahead in my opinion.
I guess we both had very different experiences with their products.
In all honesty the bigger name case manufacturers do over charge IMO. For me, anything over £19.99 ($25) is pricey and best justify the additional cost.
