ClockworkMod Recovery - Samsung Galaxy Mini

I am installing it, but the progress bar hasn't moved for a few mins, in fact it's not even filled up at all. I have used this before on the same phone and it flew, but I had to factory reset (kids messed up the phone) and now it just sits here. Not sure what else to do, any ideas?
Yes I cleared cache facory reset before installation.

if you are installing from recovery then install it from Odin it shall work

Odin saved the day and I was able to get both CWM and Cyanogen 10 working

CWM
:angel:Hey Guys,
I installed CWM 5.2.7 in my galaxy pop 2.3.6
i tried to make a backup file with Nandroid (cwm)
after backing up process is finished i only see 2 files in my sdcard
1. Boot.img
2. Recovery.img
size of both are only 8 MB
is backup is done properly ?? 0_o
i mean gingerbread file is approx 90 MB
and Nandroid give me 2 files of 8 MB each? what about installed/downloaded apps ?
what if i restore from this backup?
would all apps came back??
plz reply guys:angel::angel:

I think you are ruining stock Samsung firmware
and it cannot be backed up

Stock firmware ? U mean official firmware ?
If this is what u mean then Yes, im using it and i have CWM 5.2.7
i tried nandroid backup and it gives me what i mentioned above .
And what is the point of backing up if u cannot backup on official firmware along with all downloaded app?
I thought Nandroid give me a full backup image which shall contain all settings and apps . In short, just the way it is right now!
And all i need to do a flash restore through this CWM thing....

No, Official Firmware can't backed up cause incompatible settings with NANDROID.

Okay,
Thnx
....
But i really want to backup my gingerbread along with all apps
..
When i open CWM in my galaxy pop and trying to backing up It shows some error..
E:\recovery log cannt found ....something like that
Any solution for this?
And if u r a galaxy pop user too ...plz suggest a good custom rom. I dont want complicated stuff like theme manager or rom manager or terminal emulator. Most of roms come with those app
Plz suggest a good rom for me.....any rom which is similar to officials....

use titanium backup
or create a recovery yourself

E: cannot mount/cache/recovery/command
E: cannot mount/cache/recovery/log
E: cannot open/cache/recovery/log
These error showing when i reboot in recovery mode!
And will titanium make image of my current firmware? Or i have to install apps one by one ?
If i have to install individually im doing it ! Its time consuming and annoying
(Setting up every thing every time i flash with custom roms )
I need nandroid

you can only backup stock roms with stock recovery... once you're flashed a custom rom then CWM will work.

[S5830] How to flash the Stock ROM

Hello,
first of all, I am a total xda-noob (as told by the video) and my deeper Android knowledge is quite small.
Well, I'm seriouly considering to put the Cyanogen mod on my phone and now I have a question about going back to the stock ROM. I've made a backup of the stock ROM using Clockworkmod Recovery and this made seven files which can be seen in the added image. Now I'm wondering how I can go back to the stock ROM if CM doesn't fit me. I know I have to restore the backup in recovery mode but I think I'm right if I say this isn't enough. Can someone tell what to do exactly, as I am very cautionous. Or are there other ways to flash my stock ROM? Thanks in advance! MY CURRENT ANDROID VERSION IS GINGERBREAD 2.3.5
P.S. If this is already answered in another thread or if this placed wrongly, please tell me and I apologize for that.
UPDATE
After some searching I found this small tutorial which fitted my expectations. It said that it can indeed simply be done by restoring it in recovery mode by simply selecting the backup folder. Can someone comfirm this?
Almost right.
Cyanogenmod roms use a different format for the system, called 'ext4'. Stock roms use 'rfs' format.
Before restoring you have to convert to rfs. The easy way to do this is flashing a stock firmware with odin and your phone connected to the pc.
Quick guidelines to restore stock backup:
-flash a stock firmware through odin
-root
-flash cwm through recovery
-restore your backup
-you'll have everything exactly the same way you had it when creating the backup.
If you don't get any of the steps, read through the forum, specially the stickies (you wouldn't have opened this thread if you did so in the first place).

Thank you for answering. About everything is clear now and I understand what I'll have to do. I now understand there is indeed a difference between restoring and flashing a ROM. I've found an online guide which tells me how to use Odin. Only one more question: before using Odin, do I have to factory reset and clear cache partion? I think I do but I'm not quite sure. And if I do this before using Odin, will my phone even be able to boot in recovery mode/download mode? Thanks in advance!

Are you mental or just plain sadistic? Telling new ace users to try Rom Manager?
ROM MANAGER WILL BRICK YOUR ACE.
Only under some very specific conditions rom manager works in the ace, if you don't know them, stay away from this app.

[Q]Restoring via CWM from GB to ICS

Assuming that you made a backup in your original recovery, just restore it. Otherwise you have quite the adventure ahead of you.

You can't restore a backup to get back to stock rom. You'll need odin.

If you made a backup of your ROM before rooting, changing ROMs etc, you should be able to go back to stock. How did you root it? Flashable zip in recovery or with Odin? I used the recovery and know for a fact that I can go back to stock by restoring my stock backup. Not sure if it'll remove root access or not though. If it doesn't then you can always run the unroot.zip
How do you backup your rom without root acces? You'll need cwm right?
