No not at all. For 1 our device isn't supported and for 2 we have already figured out a workaround to the locked bootloader
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium

It may not be supported yet but if they do add our phone to it, yes it will help. We may have a Kexec kernel but an unlocked bootloader will make things far easier.

Will for one it says page not found so im saying they are not unlocking the bootloader but it it does not matter because of the fact that we have a workaround.

Apparently it got posted and pulled and I think reposted. Android police or droid had the supported device list
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium

If you look here (https://motorola-global-portal.cust...sion/L3RpbWUvMTM0NTI1NDk1NC9zaWQvU3VDYlRZM2w=) only the Photon, Xoom, and RAZR dev can be unlocked. And the RAZR dev should be unlocked anyways... it IS the dev edition. This means nothing, and with working Kexec, I don't see why we'd even change since everything now is being written for Kexec and development for this phone ins't exactly active, we essentially have 2 people developing new things for it. There are more GNex kernels than there are D3 devs.

At this point what difference can it make. Either way we can load a kernel, just need the kernel to be built
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium

Kexec makes this pointless. The reason development stopped initially was because making a ducati binary work with the Gingerbread stock kernel for ICS was impossible. Also doing a kernel module custom was too. Now even though we have ducati and it won't work for the camera we can do other things like Chrome. Also, Hash was going to modify his custom kernel for a camera driver for us as his next approach. This gives us options we didn't have before. The fact that we use Kexec is better because it is flashed on top of the kernel existing at first and it is just a ROM. If it is a bad flash all you have to do is just reflash from Safestrap. We couldn't do that before.

Upgrade to Gingerbread from Froyo with rooted Atrix 4G

I just got a rooted Atrix 4G which is running 2.2.2 but I can't tell if its stock or not and I want to upgrade to Gingerbread somehow. I don't know what to do exactly in order to have it. So if some who has had the same question about this was able to upgrade to Gingerbread and could help me out that would be great. Also If i need to uproot in order to get it please help me out with that to I looked into aRoot and that seemed a little bit skeptical so just let me know via PM or the thread.
.......really? :|

for starters, go to menu>settings>about phone and see if anything there gives away the state of your rom. also, is your BL unlocked (does it show unlocked on motorola boot animation)?
If your phone has all the blur content and has certain things locked down and such then chances are its stock.
another thing to check is whether or not your system is deodexed as most custom roms are.
I don't know a foolproof way of checking myself.
Alright well I don't think my phone has a custom rom on it but here is what I have just to make sure im right. I do know my phone does not have an unlocked b.l
System Version: 4.1.83MB860.ATT.en.US
Model:MB860
Baseband: N_01.77.15P
Webtop: oshwt_u1_4.257.30
Build number: OLYFR_U4_1.8.3
Let me know if I need anything else. I would take a screenshot but the app doesn't work for some reason.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
seems like stock. at any rate, the OTA image will fail to update during the version check if it's not. follow motorola's update instructions here: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Android_Products/ATRIX-4G_Software_Update_Page

You can only change the kernel and baseband on these phones with a OTA update from Motorola. Our bootloader is locked.
You can return the phone to stock software with one of the FXR apps that are available. But the baseband and kernel will remain unchanged. I used this one successfully last weekend: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5484-r3l3as3droot-and-43v3r-root-for-the-bionic-v21/
Will the method mentioned on the RootWiki site also remove the bootstrap/CWM if installed?
Yes it will
So basically I can load bootstrap and cwm from koush and something like liberty and then go back to the way it was when unboxed with no sign of any changes? The reason I ask is I am still in my 14 day return window.

Kernel differences on devices.

Between our device, and the HTC one X's stock, what are the kernel differences? I'm attempting to port over sense 4.1.1 stock and I only get a reaction out of a 4.1.2 stock kernel(Mexican retail).
Also, is there anyone who could assist with updater scripts? I'm stuck adb pushing through recovery right now and it's very unreliable.
Update: 4.1.1 AT&T stock kernel didn't even get a boot loop. It seems the 4.1.2 retail has some of the needed components but not all of them. Does anyone have any opinions? I cannot get to the point in which I can obtain a logcat. Things would probably get much simpler once I can get logcats.

I dont think you can port the kernel. People usually port SYS. Kernel is device specific. So you take our kernel and get Sys from one x, fiddle with them to boot...
You can port kernel too, but need to decompile it and replace some scripts in ramdisk.... Search in android general section, you may get some tutorials....

Should work the same as the S4 MF update that locked down the bootloader. You should be able to root but as for custom roms and CWM/TWRP we're out of luck.
Coming from a S4 running CM10.2 I'm not going to like using the standard rom but will get used to it I guess.
So even with the bootlegged locked we should be able to tour so we can use TB to backup and restore?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk 4
I have a locked MF3 firmware S4 and I'm running 3 different ROMs that are hot swappable thanks to Safestrap developed my Hashcode so even with a locked bootloader you can do something. Only thing is for now we are limited to internal storage for the ROM slots can't create them on external SD card but Hashcode has been working on that. Also we can only flash TW ROMs since we can't flash a custom kernel but that is also being worked on, I believe they want to be able flash a kernel with kexec. I have an AT&T S4 and currently swapping between an international Foxhound ROM, Google Play ROM, and well the stock ROM.

Even tho I don't have any phone that has a bootloader. (i don't live in the USA Neither)
But if your Bootloader is locked you cannot Flash CWM or TWRP or flash custom roms (Because they need CWM or TWRP).
Sorry if I'm wrong. I don't have any phone with locked bootloader. Hope this helps.

Ditto... which is why I am returning my AT&T Note 3 less than 24 hrs after I purchased it.
My fault for not researching the bootlocker issue, but no way am I going to give up Titanium Backup. It has saved my tail more than once.
I'm also coming from an att S4. There has not been a bootloader unlock exploit but they do have some work around exploits like loki & safestrape. Loki is out bc they've already patched that so at this point I just hope we get root bc without that you don't have a fighting chance at custom roms

All I want to do is remove the AT&T bloat as well as the Samsung bloat. When I took my stock Note 2 and installed Cleanrom on it it felt like the phone got a cpu boost. Everything was smoother and faster.
With root, can we uninstall crap that is blocked from being removed while stock? I can live with a locked bootloader if I can just get as close to a stripped rom as possible. I'm pretty new to this stuff so forgive the newbie question.

You can't flash ROMS on the ATT Note 3 yet. There is safe strap that is still in Alpha testing and is not yet 100% working. It however is not a true root and eats up a large amount of internal memory where the image file of the ROM is stored. There is a thread on Safestrap and how it works. Use it at your own risk. Outside of that it is IMPOSSIBLE to flash an ATT Note 3 right now..

The issue is that even with safe strap you can't flash any ROM. The ROM first has to be tailored to work with and around safe strap since it is not truly a ROM but a bootloader bypass and works a little differently. So until developers either jump on board and tweak ROMS to work with safestrap or they wait till the bootloader is unlocked, there are no ROMS right now to flash..

I said you could not flash them reliably and have them 100% functional. There is still testing being conducted on all the ROMS claimed to work and no one has confirmed 100% functionality with all apps and hardware. So they are still not certified reliable like a real flash would be..
If you have tested the three you have used 100% on both hardware and apps then you need to get in there and say so because they are looking for 100% proof of function confirmation..
Not going to argue semantics with you.
I will say that I have flashed to rom slots 1 thru 4 and the stock slot and restored backups to them all with no issues. And am currently running the ported xnote7 with no issues at all. So yes, roms can be installed to AT&T Note3 phones.

Have you been actively participating in the development of this phone? I've been doing this for years and I'll be honest. 99% of custom rooms do not run 100% perfect or functional. That being said, instead of telling everyone we can't flash ROMS. Why not tell them what we do have and let him decide if it is what He is looking for.

HAHA nice!!! yeah i put the xnote rom on last night so far no issues at all runs smooth and i love it!! just wish everything didnt take up a bunch of the internal memory but hey its a sweet rom so whatever
I am just going by all the "this does not work, or this fails, or my apps no longer load" and the list goes one of post in the SS thread right now.. For some it maybe stable but it seems the majority is having more problems then they had with stock.
