Hi,
Has anyone using Froyo (Vodafone) got this to work? It will not flash clockwork recovery...give Installation Error/Not Verified on reboot when trying to flash the Clockwork Recovery.

Recovery requires a signed zip. You need to flash recovery 2e

i use the program to get to the reboot to recovery but i get errors on the recovery page
the info i have is
android system recovery 3e
it says the signature verification failed
i had a magic for a yeah so know all about signing files
Clockwork does not work with 3e recovery.

I used z4 to root so that must be the problem cause i used to use the one from your link
That's just so you can get 2e back on your phone then you can get CWM working. Just be sure to follow the instructions and do not flash the wrong file....... I'm hoping CWM becomes compatible with 3e in the near future as theres no way yet for me to get 2e on my phone to do a lag fix as I am using JK3......
So guys, I need to know what the easiest ROM to put on my Captivate is. I'm rooted on the stock Froyo and I'm coming from the Aria where it was really easy. But, a couple days ago I bricked my Captivate and now have new one. And coming form the Aria I never had to worry about download mode (which I still don't quite understand) and bootloaders and Odin3 (which doesn't register my phone when my phone is in download mode, however, it registers it when out of download mode). So I need a good ROM that all I have to do is boot into CWM and install from SD card because thats all I understand as I have been doing that on my Aria. Please help me find the perfect ROM. Thanks so much. Love you guys here at XDA!
If you already have CWM, all you have to do is boot into recovery and choose install zip from SD card. This will work with any FroYo ROM.
If you don't have CWM you need to mod your recovery before you do anything.
You should be able to mod your 3e recovery from your computer, check the stickies for 3e recovery Modding, its really easy, and caries no risk of bricking.
Then, using modded 3e recovery you can flash CWM with an update.zip then flash a ROM.
Or, rename ANY froyo ROM "update.zip" and flash it directly from your modded 3e recovery. I recommend FireFly or Cognition personally.

Yes, every Froyo ROM'S can be flashed with ClockWork Mod Recovery, you can download ROM MANAGER from market and you just touch "Flash clockwork mod" and then you have it, put the .zip files in your internal SD, and flash them using CWM.......

That is one way to obtain the CWM install file. But you still need to mod the 3e recovery before you can install the CWM recovery. Otherwise when you try to install it you will get the signature verification failure.

how do I mod 3e recovery? Whenever I use cwm to reinstall packages, it says full signature verification failure. Or something close.

Do some reading. Search for 3e recovery. There are a lot of threads on it.

I have tried ever kernel and they all have soft bricked the phone so I can't get it installed via kernel.

This update wont remove su or the modded settings.db?

This is just an update .zip file that u put on your internal sd of your phone. Then when u boot into the 2e recovery of eclair 2.1 or the modded 3e recovery of froyo 2.2, u can select to install this update.zip, which will in turn be allowed and will install the CWM Recovery that u want.
The 2e recovery allowed unsigned zips to be installed but the 3e recovery did not.

If the update has clockwork mod, you understood.

That is all it is for.
And don't forget that u will probably have to select "reinstall packages" twice in the recovery for it to get installed.

i tried to install nAa kernel with flash tool...after that phone is stuck on sony ericssion skin....i also cant enter in clockwork mod or xrecovery,then i again installed sony ericssion stock kernel by flashtool but cant start up phone or enter in recovery mode....please....advice me....how can i install xrecovery again or get free from this problem:crying:
