4g lte gone, ideas? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Ok here's the deal. Upgraded to ICS 232 and all went pretty much flawless other than motoprint no longer works. All was good and I was in happy land. However with ICS was stuck in 4g mode all the time and was sucking my battery like a hungry vampire. So I went into phone info and changed to CDMA auto PRL . Locked me in 3g only. Was back in happy land, battery life good again. Well I wanted to use my 4g so I went in to turn it on and it kills all data. No 4g, no 3g not even evdo. When I reboot it always resets back to CDMA auto PRL only.
Any ideas short of factory reset?

Turn off phone, remove SIM, reboot without SIM. After it's on, turn it off again, re-insert SIM and restart it. Try toggling 4G with *#*#4636#*#*
This sometimes works, as does toggling airplane mode

Same problem for me. I have tried toggling airplane mode, tried toggling wifi, rebooting, simply cannot get the phone out of cdma only (prl) mode.if anyone has experience in fixing this, it would be greatly appreciated! I even went though VZW's level 3 tech support and told then I have Ics on my bionic (which didn't void my warranty?) But they were at a loss...

you cannot switch back to 4g (LTE/CDMA/EvDo) if you have "Data roaming" enabled. Uncheck the data roaming box and try it again. Worked for me. :good:

Had this happen to me when I tried to enable Juice Defender's AOSP helper on the official ICS (though I had to update manually using HouseofBionic's method). It dropped me to 3G only, and the "preferred network" setting is grayed out, but showing LTE/CDMA. Clearly, the setting was inaccessible.
I uninstalled AOSP Helper, then disabled JuiceDefender.
Then I went into the Hidden Menu (that 4636 thing) and it says CDMA Auto (PRL). I tried to change it to CDMA/LTE/EVDO , then reboot, but it's still 3G. Went back into Hidden menu, it's back to CDMA Auto (PRL).
Went back in, change it again to CDMA/LTE/EVDO, but this time there's a "refresh" button below that, to update the IMSC I think. I hit that.
Reboot phone, now I have no 3G
Went to settings / data usage to toggle data, nothing.
Went to airplane mode, out, and voila, 4G/LTE.
Not sure which one of those actually forced the update, but it worked, so if someone else had the same problem, try that.

Emergency Calls Only

Okay sometimes my N1 will lose all service and in the Notification Bar it will display "Emergency Calls Only". This doesn't go away and I don't get service until i restart my phone. I don't understand why it does this. I am running CyanogenMod 5.05 and my carrier is Cincinnati Bell. What can I do to fix this?
I do see this sometimes (albeit rarely) in areas where T-Mobile has low coverage (I guess that means it would roam to AT&T to make a 911 call if needed).
But as soon as I get into an area with good coverage it's solved. I don't have a need to restart the phone.
What radio are you using? Have you tried also just turning off the radio and turning it back on, or for example toggling 2G only? That might trigger the radio to re-connect.
The radio I am using is EPE54B.
Your explanation as to why this happens sounds reasonable. The location that I normally see this happen does not have the best coverage.
Next time it happens, I will try toggling 2g only.
Is there another way to turn the radio off and on without restarting?
Airplane mode. But be warned, toggling 2G or turning Airplane mode on/off usually doesn't work with this issue. A reboot is generally faster.
Also FYI, if you aren't aware, you can soft reboot by holding down Trackball+Power+Vol Down. Click all three simultaneously and the phone will reboot within a couple seconds.

3g won't go back to 4g

Title pretty much sums it up. Whenever my phone goes to 3g it won't go back to 4g til I reboot or until put it in airplane mode and back.
And as a side note, whenever I put it in airplane mode and change it back my phone reboots itself..
That's strange. Are you rooted? Do you have any apps that tinker with data settings?
Try a data wipe
Not rooted, the only app I have that I think may do something is zdbox but I doubt it does
I would uninstall it first and see what may be going on. Are you still unable to connect to 4g without rebooting when on 3g?
Is possible the 4g network is having issues in your area. What city? I will check the alerts at work and see if there are any issues in your area
Join the revolt!
It only does it like once a week. Good ole Dayton ohio
Also something I just realized, every time i turn on my wifi my phone goes to 3g

Relax... and reboot your phone. That app looks like nothing more than a way to access the phone's hidden Phone Info menu that on some phones you access by dialing *#*#4636#*#* or with an activity shortcut. What you're seeing is part of the phone, not the app. Anyway usually changes in that menu don't survive a reboot. and even if something did survive a reboot, just retrace your steps and set anything you touched back. like "LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)"

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have tried all of the above, including a full factory reset. I did change everything back to default in that app, rebooted several times, etc. Dialing *#*#4636#*#* doesn't do anything for me. Also, it's very strange. This morning I woke up and checked it again and it seems like only the 4g lte radios are working. I can get 4g signal, but no 3g or edge. I can't make any phone calls or access my voice mail, but I still can receive sms/mms and send/receive data. I'm pretty much at a loss...Any other suggestions???

There is no edge on Verizon, it's LTE, evdo and 1x. You could try doing a PRL update. It's right under system update I think.

You could try reflashing your current android version with RSDlite. I don't know how different it is than doing a factory reset, but try it nonetheless.

Resetting 'band' setting changed from test *#*#info#*#* menu?

The short:
I changed the "Select radio band" setting in the test menu (*#*#info#*#*) and it screwed things up.
I wiped and reflashed CM12.1 - but it didn't reset that setting (it's still borked).
Does anyone know where it stores that setting, or how to reset it somehow?
The long:
Initially in CM12.1 I was having problems staying on LTE - it always fell back to 3G and stayed there.
So tried this band change that someone who had the same problem suggested.
Now, every option I try is great for LTE but says "cellular network not available" and I can't make calls.
The exception is "Cellular" which I can make calls but only get 1X data.
These are the options in the menu:
"JAPAN Band (WCDMA-800/WCDMA-IMT-2000)"
"USA Band (GSM-850/PCS-1900/wCDMA-850/WCDMA-PCS-1900)"
"Cellular (800-MHz)"
"PCS (1900-MHz)"
I don't know what it was before and I can't see figure out how to tell what it currently is set to.
I just want to flash back to stock so things work again, but if this setting doesn't get reset then I don't know if that will work anyway.
Any chance settings like that are stored on the SIM card?
try to re-flash radio only

Worth a shot, but doesn't seem to have helped.
Try the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57778872
I seemed to have luck when I made the changes according to this post and then immediately ran the ping test. I don't know if the ping test really did anything to help but I've had cell service since following these steps.

Unfortunately that's what I did initially. The setting in that link ("Cellular") made my calls work, but I could only get 1X data.
So somehow by just flashing and reflashing different things (including failing to reflash to stock), it's back to where it was when I started.... which sucks, but is at least useable. Calls work and data works, but the first time it has to drop back from LTE to 3G, it get stuck in 3G forever (until airplane mode). Super sucks since it's my primary home router tethered. I have to airplane mode like 5 times a day.
Just in case someone else ran into this problem, I ended up getting a new sim from Verizon and everything's working now finally. It still says "000000" when it's in 3G, but I don't care about that - it works and it goes back to LTE when it can, rather than staying on 3G forever.
Works for Moto X play - should work for others too..
I too did the same mistake. Changed my Band to "USA" and couldn't restore to previous despite Factory reset.
The SIM 1 went into 4G data only (No voice) , didn't recognize 2G & 3G network for any sim.
However Sim 2 worked fine for 2G,3G & 4G.
i came across a thread in XDA, and after breaking my head over how to execute it, I finally did it.
I have written a brief guide to it. Here's the link.

Stuck on verizon 3G, previously had LTE working.

Hello I'm having some issues getting LTE to work on my Nexus 6 running BenzoRom.
I am only able to get 3G, when I previously had LTE working for a very long time. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I tried clearing, dalvik cache, cache, restoring default APN settings, restarting my phone, flashing a new rom, putting in a different sim card (with LTE working) and nothing fixed the issue.
I'm guessing I should just flash stock rom but I'd rather not go through the hassle. I think it might be my APN settings since I vaguely remember messing with it but I restored back to default and LTE still did not show up.
What the heck happened?
Have you gone into the phone menu? If not, *#*#4636#*#* then select phone... And look at my screen shot; at the preferred network type and the turn off volte flag... Yours may say turn on. I reboot after selecting the network and turning on the volte flag
Then in settings/more/cellular networks there should be enhanced 4g/LTE mode, turn that on of it isn't already.
Ya, I'm a dope... Adding the screenshot I referenced.
